Happy Halloween lovely friends!
I can hardly believe that today is October 31st.
We began our festivities last night, on the eve of Halloween.

Carving pumpkins, lighting candles under moonlight and dancing under twinkling stars.
The weather perfection, the freshly baked cupcakes, delectable.

Down the garden paths at the country house, under the big trees, that’s where you shall find us on this magical evening.

Glowing candlelight and strings of fairy lights will light your way.
Our tiny cottage sits hidden in the garden.
Not the main house, but completely livable with all the amenities one would need for comfort.
A sort of getaway for a grown girl, which would be me.

I cannot think of any place I would rather be than here on this enchanted autumn evening.

The owls hoot and watch from the treetops…

Teddy steals a pumpkin and destroys its perfect stem.
I laugh.
Ah well, I suppose we all need to get into a little mischief on this night.

There is a little spookiness lurking around, but not too much.

The cottage glows under the trees.
Illuminated like mad.

We have caramel corn and movies and music all lined up.
Halloween puzzle on the dining table.
Dogs running around.

Next, I will bake all of my pumpkin seeds.

I will sleep in the loft, lights twinkling about, with all my favorite Halloween books.

As Jack-o-Lantern faces peek around with pure delight.
I must dust off my pointy hat and antique boots for the occasion.
I think the spookiest thing about all of this is the sheer speed at which it all came.
Do you feel like you are in a time warp?
I know I talk about this all the time, but honestly, let’s do the time warp againnnnnn.
The wonderful thing is that the cottage feels so magical.
Nothing makes me happier than really sinking myself into the season.
I sat there happily carving my pumpkins listening to the creepiest Halloween stories.
Do you listen to “Mr. Nightmare” and/or “Let’s Read” on YouTube?
I love the voice of the Let’s Read person.
These two channels share creepy stories that people send in, read in their best voices for telling stories.
I love listening, especially at Halloween.
I have to tell you, I was very tempted to put on a full costume, mask, etc to go trick or treating.
I have this funny desire to join in and scream Trick or Treeeeeeat!
I’m not very tall and I think I can easily sound like a youngster.
But can you imagine getting caught?
Haha!
I mean, it is all about tricks isn’t it?
Have you ever done anything like that?
I just thought it would be fun experiencing being a kid again, as such.
Even if just once more in my life, tee hee.
Alas, I shall behave myself and stay cozy at the country house doing other fun things.
There is a neighborhood not too far from my house that goes all out for Halloween.
I might just walk over there this evening for the ambience of it all.
The houses are all decked out.
Well my friends, I must be off.
If you are on Instagram I will post in my stories throughout the night.
I hope you will all be safe and well on this spooktacular evening, and don’t do anything I would do.
Cackle cackkkkkle!!
See ya soooooon!
Love, Vanessa
Gotta polish my broom and flyyyyyyyyy.
PS: Do you ever watch those seasonal ambience videos on YouTube?
Truth be told, I put them on my big t.v. and they play most of the day whilst I’m doing this or that.
I’ll leave you with one for this evening…
I’m transported to another time and place. You are magical with all the senses. Lovely and thankful for this
Truly magical! You are always a treat. Happy Belated Halloween!
Vanessa your sweet cottage is just so magical. I love it all. Adorable pumkins* October sure did come and go very quickly. I do think you should have gotten dressed and snuck out to some houses 🙂 we get hundreds and hundreds of kids every year and each year more and more adults join in. We set up outside and have lights and all sorts of treats. Lots of toys and candy and even drinks for the kids. What fun. Your night sounds absolutely amazing
love deezie
BOOOoooo! Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (read in your most sinister, scary voice.)
