A Song for all the Moms and Daughters out there…

Have you been a devoted lover of a certain musician for years and years?

Someone who you listened to as a teen and then on throughout your life until now?

Whose music has been a part of your life’s soundtrack?

One of those people for me is Tori Amos.

She shared her songs of finding your way in my late teens, songs of finding your own fire, courage and strength in my 20’s, songs of life and the human experience in my 30’s, the now.

There were songs of growing up, losing babies, going on with life through hardships, having a daughter, and the milestone of  Tori turning 50 – and all the emotions and feelings that come with that as you change and grow older.

Through the years her message has been constant –

Never lose your fire and creativity, even if you get off the path and have to refind it, you can!

She speaks about it here.

Whether you are a fan, a follower or not familiar with her…

If you are a mom or a daughter, you may love this song.

It made me cry.

Tori Amos and her 13 year old daughter Natashya doing a duet.

I love the whole song, but the chorus and the end really touch me extra so.

This duet is also on her new album.

Goodness, that was so lovely wasn’t it?

I just had to share it.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

Tori Amos is my music goddess. She is my inspiration, my muse, my fanciful twist of song and seeing her beautiful daughter and the duet, her eyes are Tori’s eyes. When I heard her new album on spotify, I wanted to hop here and comment to you that this album is so wonderful and find out your thoughts! But of course life jumped on my train of thought and took a detour. I knew you would love it. I am so happy that she is continuing to make music and I hope she continues sharing Tash with us. Thanks Vanessa!

Love Tori! Her daughter is just absolutely wonderful too. I remember hearing her singing on Tori’s album Night of Hunters. Job’s Coffin is one of my favourite songs I am so happy to hear Natashya singing again!

I’ve not commented on your posts before, but I had to say thank you for reminding me how much I love & need Tori’s voice! I remember exactly what I was doing the day her daughter was born – one day before my 16th birthday! What magic to hear them sing together. Made me cry, too!
    Love your blog!

  6. Awe, Emily, I know isn’t she (they now) so amazing? Sometimes if I hear an old Tori song like Black Swan or Baker Baker…. or the live intro to Space Dog (just to name a small few) I am catapulted back to my younger self and it’s just so wonderful to have those memories….. Yay to kindred Tori love 😉 !

  7. Doesn’t Tash just have the best voice? Amazing girls!

  8. Dawn, I know, I sooo get it, what you mean. It’s like, if you are a Toriphile you even deeper get it you know? The journey….. it’s been so special to date, with ups and down and all arounds…. ah Tori…
