Holiday Decor & a Proper Thank you

First of all, I wanted to say, thank you.  Thank you for being you, for sharing your heart's turmoils and delights.  Thank you for being so supportive and caring.  I think we all agree that even in the depths of a rotten day, things can turn bright and lovely.

It is so important for us to let our friends (and all loved ones for that matter) feel what they need to feel.  I think it is just as good to cry, as it is to laugh.

As we all know by now, life is full of ups and downs.  I personally don't like downs, who does?  And I try to make good out of yuck, as quickly as possible (like the other day I was all fixed up the very same day).  But when stinky things happen, they happen, and everyone dusts themselves off at a different pace.  Which is a-okay in my book.

I also think that it's good to talk about things, when we feel like it.

So, what a treat, that we get to meet here, and chat.  And tell life secrets from time to time.

I am just finishing up some wee faces, and should "so not" be here right now.

But, I had to share my thoughts.

Annnnnd……

Because I couldn't resist, I had to throw in some –

Sparkly decor…

Christmas Decorating

It is soooo super sparkly in person, but the photos do it no justice.

I am officially holiday inspired.

I intend to make Nigella's Christmas cake this year.  Although, sometimes I watch her make this, simply for amusement.  I think I shared it before?

(teddy bear noses, eeeeeeeeeeee!)

Okay, off I skeddaddle.

You are lovely!

I will back back sooner than ever, I hope 😉

i love Nigella so much! her bed must be so full of crumbs though.

  2. Vanessa:
A proper “thank you” to you as well. You open up your heart, your home, your garden and your life. You share your colorful and Bizarre Arizona world. I love that you share the bad with the good….because in real life, there is always bad. But…you have also taught us (well, me for sure)to look for the good. Thank you for that!
Ohhh…here’s a little tidbit for you: If you’ve ever wondered if “tweeting” the link to your new blog posts does any good, let me tell you it does. I often see your new posts pop up on twitter, and then I come right over to read it. Just so you know…

This is funny, as I sat here reading this post, I decided to watch the little Nigella Lawson video and see what she was cooking. I turned up the speakers, LOW and BEHOLD, my husband, who was totally engrossed in the TV, perks up and says, ‘OH! Is that Nigella?’ Hmm. Hah. A bit of a Nigella fan, Hmm?? LOL!!
Seriously, who wouldn’t love to have some of her delightful cooking?
Hope all is well! Oh and, hope you received the card Miss Miranda and I sent.

The Mennonites sell ’em wayyy out here in the country 🙂 along with about a million other little sprinkly things.

You are so right about everything in your post.
I love to watch Nigella (have I admitted to being a Food Network and Cooking Channel addict) The cake looks very good and so pretty the way she finished it.
What are those little things you are making?
I tried a new recipe for Scottish Shortbread. It turned out very good (Recipe on my blog). I love shortbread.

  7. OOH those simply look good enough to eat!
Tee Hee. Thank YOU so much for your lovely blog and wonderful inspiration!
    Take Care,

I have some edible glitter too-pink-but have never used it, and in fact am not sure where it is! It is pretty indeed. I love Nigella. Recently there have been lots of reruns of her Christmas programmes. Lovely! Enjoy making your cake!

  14. Hi Winter girl ( am a winter girl too!but from january!). I am sad to hear you had a “blip” ( does this word exist in the U.S?). The funny thing is that I have just posted something about the wonderful support network that blogging represents.
Anyway, I just popped in to say hi and check one thing here and there..hum…hum…
( Now, if you are thinking ” what the hell is she talking about?” that’s pretty cool!)

♫♪ Happy Happy Birthday ♫♪ My Magical Muse!!!
Wishing you a day filled with everything you love, and a parade with 60 tubas, baby bunnies, kittens and puppies, eight dozen rainbows, and a private performance by Cirque du Soleil. Oh, and THAT Christmas cake. Sending you all my love on the wings of a desert sparrow. **blows kisses gently so as to not blow out the candles** Deb

  16. Oh oh, one day early on my birthday 😉 You lovelies, it is Dec 11th. But I am happy to celebrate it today, and ever so grateful your remembered me 😉 xoxo

  17. BumbleVee says:

Tia Maria….alright! I have a little shot of it in my coffee in the mornings… that cake sounds like it could be a keeper… versus some Christmas cakes I’ve tried….
Teddy bear noses? hah…. if our noses looked like wrinkly old prunes…I’m thinking nobody would want the bears we make….
and… it seems somebody, or even a few somebodys,,. know it’s your special day…so Happy Day..!!
… not to worry…we all have our ups and downs…. and you’re right…. some things take us longer to get over than usual… and guess what? Eventually, some of us even encounter things that we absolutely can’t get over … AT all…..
    hugs, Vee

  18. I just wanted to ask the same question as the ladies before me…I have been looking like forever to find a baby shoe pattern with no seam inside, so if you can tell us how to do that, I would be really grateful! Thanks!

  19. Jill James says:

Love Nigella (her life story is a heartbreaker)…..food porn at its finest! I watch her every Sunday – she makes me giggle at how much delight she gets from using her choppy thing (what are those called anyway?)
I love that you, Miss V, are the lemonade making type (who else would run outside & photograph the most beautiful hummingbird while having a lemon day)……
My mom used to put silver dragees on sugar cookies & my heart hurts when I see them…..I love Nigella’s gingerbread made w/dark beer – she decorates it w/XXX sugar, little deer & pine trees!

  20. Theresa says:

I’m SO happy you are feeling in better spirits, Vanessa. What are friends for? To help each other feel better when they are down. 🙂 {{{BIG HUGS}}} Nigella Lawson is awesome – I definitely need to try one of her recipes sometime. She just LOVES food!!! And who doesn’t? LOL Happy birthday one day early, dear friend. xoxo Theresa

  21. Pixie says:

I have to admit, I have a HUGE girl crush on Nigella. And after watching that video I need to hang fairy lights all over my kitchen ASAP!

  22. Chris says:

hi, there. i know i keep commenting, but this one is very long ago because I’m a little lame about my time right now, only posting blogs and not having time to read blogs, which is actually more fun! so no one else will read this anyway, and I just have to say, i agree! we have to share and express and listen. i believe this so much, but i honestly don’t know that many people who do. i think they must have lightness and prettiness and ease all the time or they are not comfortable. so i hold things in a lot now and have finally decided i probably won’t stop doing so! i have lost another friend since the one i already told you about, and considering the timing, i suppose i have to conclude it’s my open expressiveness that causes it. (i don’t think it could be because i smell, but maybe that’s it!)
i think reality is for my journal and not for other people. but either way, it is GOOD that you share and are open! and emote and get upset and get happy! you rock, girl!
    mmmm… chocolate again…! yay!

  23. Tina says:

i do not mind the low in my life..they are the bumps on which i climb to reach up higher to the heavens.
enjoy the moment..enjoy the present 😉
