What are our gypsy dreams?
I was preparing dinner out by the gypsy wagon last night, thinking about this very question. Gypsy dreams are beautiful, dreamy, romantic, filled with guitar and laughter, billowing gowns and an abundance of free spirits…
I thought I was not going to be able to be a part of Celia's Gypsy Dreams party, as I have my own real life gypsies coming for a weekend visit. But, I snuck in at the last minute.
The light was incredible last night. It was gripping really. The sort of light that can grasp your heart, and bring you back to you. To who you really are, filled with wishes and dreams. The you that you hold so deep inside, that only you know, that you.
We are drawn to living a free life, with arms outstretched, feeling the breeze caressing us. Telling us everything is going to be okay…
Assuring us that, we are living our authentic life.
The tiny little bit of gypsy life that I taste in my gypsy garden, is every bit as beautiful as the dream. But the one thing it is not, is easy. And yet, it seems worth it…
And so, I invite you into my little world, for a morsel, a sip…
Choosing bell peppers and…
Herbs – chives, basil, for our dinner…
The glow, of evening glow, greets us..
It is the most important guest.
It helps to season the makings…
We have sliced so many tomatoes, bubbling in the pot with garlic and sweet onions, carrots, celery, spices, stock, olive oil, wine….
The aroma is decadent…
Pesto and flat bread are served in abundance…
Some choose a cinnamon mint tea blend, straight from my grandmother's kitchen…
Others choose a hearty and rich red wine, with just a hint of sweetness. Voyaged in a ship, hundreds of years ago, opened for you tonight…
Pups play, people dance.
Violin and guitar meld, floating into the air, like a faint and beautiful crying of the heart…
Everyone is adorned with the most delicious textiles, and bangles…
Details that make you weep with their beauty. Work of ancient hands…
There is plenty of room to sleep, not that any proper gypsy would even think of sleeping on such a beautiful evening…
Get cozy in the gypsy wagon…
Matty might even keep you warm…
Or…
Find your way to the room under the trees…
Cozy and blissful…

A place to hide…
And rest…
With its very own bath…
As laundry dries, and dinner is being made…
The sun sets.
That awe inspiring sun, with its last golden glimmer of the day…
So, we light our candles, and get ready for a long night of pure merriment…
We'll be waiting for you…
Gypsy dreams abound……..🖤

Enchanting…I am always speechless when I wander around all of your gypsy beauty…I just want to run off and buy a piece of property and live out my gypsy dreams….I am so looking forward to planning lovely meals outside again…though they would pale in comparison to your lovely outdoor stove…enjoy your gypsy weekend.
one word “AWESOME”…….you inspire me Vanessa!…
I’ve got my bangles and bells and am ready to dance and sing to the tune of my gypsy tambourine! Enjoy your weekend, I’m looking forward to all the Halloween party details! 🙂
What a perfect evening! How wonderful to read this at the last few minutes of my work day, setting the tone for my Friday night. My girls and I claimed it to be “ladies night”. There will be messy, homemade facials, manicures, treats & good eats, too many chick flicks, and now some gypsy magic.
Have a great weekend, Vanessa!
P.S. I received my Halloween labels. Thank you so much! The packaging was just as sweet as the inside. Love the little things. Thanks. 🙂
This makes me want to adorn myself with beautiful bangles, baubles and fringes and run away to a gypsy paradise. An absolutely enchanting abode you have there. The stuff of dreams. Magical and inspiring. Thank you for sharing. : )
Your gypsy evening is most inviting. I would like to sit next to Matty and sip some of the wine, whilst drinking in the beauty of my surroundings.

Your Gypsy photos are so beautiful and inspiring.
A gorgeous gypsy party. The description of the food made my mouth water and I’m intrigued by the sound of cinnamon mint tea blend, not a combination I would have thought of but might have to try it now.
Oh the music to your gypsy theater video is hauntingly lovely.
Mega-gorgeous post…enchanting imagery..shine on!! Such a spectacular gypsy tribute!
Victoria
This is beautiful, and as much as I love summer, my heart belongs to autumn, so I LOVE the hints of fall and the nights that are coming. Your gypsy wagon made me go to the window and look at our backyard and wonder. . . where could I put my own gypsy tent. . .hmmm. . .
On Earth there is no heaven, but there are
pieces of it…like your Gypsy Garden.

Beautiful Vanessa,
I very often lurk here, though I don’t speak up. I am a wild gypsy at heart- even my art studio name confirms this! 🙂 My heart sings and my soul is freed when I hear gypsy music or dress with bangles a-plenty and rich gypsy hued skirts.
I would be most pleased to win your treats! Your work is so lovely!!
xoxo

I am also excited about the Halloween party. 🙂
Happy Gypsy Dreams,
Birgit
How beautiful everything is!
Please tell me – have you always been good at relaxing / been able to relax? I find myself honestly confused as to how to do it. Now that even strangers I meet in other countries tell me I need to stop and think and relax for a while – and I realise myself that I have to do it – I kind of don’t know how to turn off the work button, since I love to work and it’s fun work – but I’ve strained my eyes and brain super much lately.
Anyway, just started to practise karate and I find that helps in a way, but when you’re so tired you kinda HAVE to relax? Sheesh, what a whining comment.
Wow-zah. Such pretty photos and discriptions. Matty and gypsy garb, hmmm…
As usual you enchant me. You are so magical! I cannot wait to see your Halloween creations at the Halloween Party!
Artful hugs,
Raissa
such a beautiful, magical, mysterious place! on occasion, my heart longs to join you and escape this modern, noisy, bustling world. thank you for sharing your gypsy paradise!
Love it!
I wished I live close by to you, we can don our Gypsy outfits and I can give you a reading of Tarot Cards by beautiful candlelight.
I feel a bit of Gypsy lives in all of all us.
When I think of the gypsy life I imagine the scene in the movie Chocolat, where they are on the boat having the party, music is everywhere and people are dancing and laughing and eating. I think of an enjoyment of nature and a zest for a less complex life filled with music and art and food and deep connections with family and friends. I am an armchair gypsy more than I am a real one, and yet I feel that stirring and feel a kindred spirit with those who actively live that lifestyle. I think you touched on it in your post, it is about that feeling of freedom. That desire for open spaces and the sweet smell of fresh air and the ability to let weight drop off our shoulders.
Wonderful post, as always. 🙂
Dear Vanessa!!!! What a gorgeous magical gypsy dream life!!!!! Thank you for a beautiful and inspiring post. I would love to visit with you in your gypsy wagon and enjoy the ambiance. We can have baked treats and tea and enjoy music under the stars. 🙂 I’m so thrilled that you were able to take part (I sadly was not) but thanks for sharing the date of the Halloween party…hurray!!! xoxo
I am likely a bit late for the drawing, but I must say, I wish I had a bit of property, for you have certainly inspired me to create an outdoor room!
Enchanting as ever!! I just love dropping by and catching up – and now a date for the Halloween Party – YAY!!
Wishing a magical, and hopefully not too fleeting season!
🖤 Carolee
As always Vanessa, a beautiful post filled with photographs that never fail to inspire.
Everything you do is touched with magic. What a beautiful way to live.
Warmest Gypsy Wishes,
Sheila
I just wanted to curl up in that cozy wagon…with a warm, furry cuddle boy to whisper to…
Gorgeous, as always, Miss V….
Thank you for sharing some of your Magic with us!!
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful Gypsy post..thank you! xo
Every picture is more beautiful than the last….also keep in mind that you might come out one morning and find me sitting in your bathtub. There ARE squatter’s right, you know!!!! 🙂
How magical. I wish I could have a lovely tub out in the open air. I will have to be happy I had a sunny weekend with lake swims and hikes and a magical moment by a waterfall!
OXOX
Kristy
I love your gypsy style. The movie, Chocolat, with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp, comes to mind when I think of gypsy dreams…
Sooo much enchantment to see Vanessa, into this portal of your Gypsy garden! I would love to wonder over and take a nap with Matty and feel a nice fall breeze. I would dream about the Halloween party soon to follow! Oh what fun! 😉
Hello Vanessa… I have missed our visits and your enchanted posts… your gypsy post is fabulous and you of course, are such a beautiful gypsy… I am looking forward to all of your Halloween posts as well, my favorite holiday too… your new cards in your shop are stunning!… xoxo Julie Marie
My gypsy dream is of playing ina wagon under the stars, cool breezes, no cares, no worries, no sadness. Falling asleep in the wee hours. Then waking and entering a room between the trees with a stack of books, a pitcher of iced tea and time for both.
Nothing but time.
Even though you can’t hear it, I have my violin out and am playing the most romantic gypsy melody. Thank you so much for sharing this evening with us!
(I have always been a gypsy at heart.)
It looks like you are living in my fantasy, beautiful, thanks for sharing! I love your blog, the dreamy way you pronounce the things you love.
Have a great day today!
Maria Therese,
Relaxing, whats that 😉 ???
Even when I am relaxing I am thinking of things i have to do, or want to
do.
But, from time to time, I breathe and live in the moment, and I enjoy it so
much. I just swing on my swing. I think relaxing is different for
everyone? I bet that you already relax, and you dont even realize
it?
Like, for some people, taking photos or editing photos is very
relaxing. This is the case for me. Also, cleaning my house is
relaxing for me (I should try that more often), playing the piano is dreamy
relazing….. So, I think the trick is that relaxing means lots of
different things to everyone. What do you
think?
Dearest Dear Vanessa,
Such a wonderful post! I LOVE all of the sleeping areas, tents and thinking of taking a bath there makes me dream!!!! Thank you. Such a nice escape from today.
I am most happy to learn the date of the Halloween party! Mr. V must have sensed it because he is already taking spooky spiderweb photos!! The weather is helping us think of Halloween, as we are supposed to have our first frost the end of this week (Nooo! It’s just too soon! I’m not done with summer yet!).
Biggest hugs to you and your loved ones!
Betty
I am having a lovely time catching up on all I have missed on your Blog….this is my happy place to come for magic and fur babies! We just adopted two more so now our pack is up to 7! We are nuts!!!

Ahhhh Vanessa, my beautiful gypsy friend, I needed this visit today – I was saving it, you know…my world has been crazy these past few weeks – I must ask you – are you waking in the night like me? So much change in the air….hmmmm….do you mind if I stay a little while in your gypsy caravan, and a glass of that red sounds divine. Please pass the flat bread and pesto. So lovely to visit you, as always. Beautiful gypsy dreams to you x

Questions were asked: Were the tears for real? Were they a clever-and maybe, desperate-ploy to win her the votes? Or did Hillary for once really let down her guard to allow a glimpse into her emotional side? “Well I said I would not tear up, already we are not exactly on the path,” said an emotional Clinton, even as news of Obama’s surge came through.
Are you REALLY ROMA? Possibly this is a dream you are having. Our people, MY PEOPLE, normally do not live like this. Too much glitz and glamour. Just a fairy tale as far as I can see. But then again I too love a good fairy tale.

I feel like I could be there right now…..what a joyful time…so amazing..I love it…thank you….
