Gypsy Life {Gypsy Dreams}

What are our gypsy dreams?

Gypsy 18

I was preparing dinner out by the gypsy wagon last night, thinking about this very question.  Gypsy dreams are beautiful, dreamy, romantic, filled with guitar and laughter, billowing gowns and an abundance of free spirits…

I thought I was not going to be able to be a part of Celia's Gypsy Dreams party, as I have my own real life gypsies coming for a weekend visit.  But, I snuck in at the last minute.

Gypsy 17

The light was incredible last night.  It was gripping really.  The sort of light that can grasp your heart, and bring you back to you.  To who you really are, filled with wishes and dreams.  The you that you hold so deep inside, that only you know, that you.

Gypsy 8

We are drawn to living a free life, with arms outstretched, feeling the breeze caressing us.  Telling us everything is going to be okay…

Assuring us that, we are living our authentic life.

The tiny little bit of gypsy life that I taste in my gypsy garden, is every bit as beautiful as the dream.  But the one thing it is not, is easy.  And yet, it seems worth it…

Gypsy 16

And so, I invite you into my little world, for a morsel, a sip…

Gypsy 4

Choosing bell peppers and…

Gypsy 2

Herbs – chives, basil, for our dinner…

Gypsy 3

The glow, of evening glow, greets us..

It is the most important guest.

It helps to season the makings…

Gypsy 19

We have sliced so many tomatoes, bubbling in the pot with garlic and sweet onions, carrots, celery, spices, stock, olive oil, wine….

Gypsy 13

The aroma is decadent…

Pesto and flat bread are served in abundance…

Gypsy 10

Some choose a cinnamon mint tea blend, straight from my grandmother's kitchen…

Gypsy 5

Others choose a hearty and rich red wine, with just a hint of sweetness.  Voyaged in a ship, hundreds of years ago, opened for you tonight…

Gypsy 15

Pups play, people dance.

Violin and guitar meld, floating into the air, like a faint and beautiful crying of the heart…

Gypsy 14

Everyone is adorned with the most delicious textiles, and bangles…

Gypsy 20

Details that make you weep with their beauty.  Work of ancient hands…

Gypsy 21

There is plenty of room to sleep, not that any proper gypsy would even think of sleeping on such a beautiful evening…

Gypsy 28

Get cozy in the gypsy wagon…

Gypsy 27

Matty might even keep you warm…

Gypsy Voyages 1

Or…

Find your way to the room under the trees…

Gypsy 24

Cozy and blissful…

Gypsy 29

A place to hide…

Gypsy 31

And rest…

Gypsy 30

With its very own bath…

Gypsy 22

As laundry dries, and dinner is being made…

Gypsy 7

The sun sets.

That awe inspiring sun, with its last golden glimmer of the day…

Gypsy 9

So, we light our candles, and get ready for a long night of pure merriment…

Gypsy 25

We'll be waiting for you…

Gypsy 23

Gypsy dreams abound……..🖤

  73. How beautiful everything is!
Please tell me – have you always been good at relaxing / been able to relax? I find myself honestly confused as to how to do it. Now that even strangers I meet in other countries tell me I need to stop and think and relax for a while – and I realise myself that I have to do it – I kind of don’t know how to turn off the work button, since I love to work and it’s fun work – but I’ve strained my eyes and brain super much lately.
Anyway, just started to practise karate and I find that helps in a way, but when you’re so tired you kinda HAVE to relax? Sheesh, what a whining comment.

  74. Pixie says:

Wow-zah. Such pretty photos and discriptions. Matty and gypsy garb, hmmm…

  77. Shell says:

I wished I live close by to you, we can don our Gypsy outfits and I can give you a reading of Tarot Cards by beautiful candlelight.
I feel a bit of Gypsy lives in all of all us.

  78. Carl V. says:

When I think of the gypsy life I imagine the scene in the movie Chocolat, where they are on the boat having the party, music is everywhere and people are dancing and laughing and eating. I think of an enjoyment of nature and a zest for a less complex life filled with music and art and food and deep connections with family and friends. I am an armchair gypsy more than I am a real one, and yet I feel that stirring and feel a kindred spirit with those who actively live that lifestyle. I think you touched on it in your post, it is about that feeling of freedom. That desire for open spaces and the sweet smell of fresh air and the ability to let weight drop off our shoulders.
    Wonderful post, as always. 🙂

  79. Theresa says:

  81. Enchanting as ever!! I just love dropping by and catching up – and now a date for the Halloween Party – YAY!!
Wishing a magical, and hopefully not too fleeting season!
    🖤 Carolee

    OXOX
    Kristy

  87. Sara says:

  90. Renee says:

My gypsy dream is of playing ina wagon under the stars, cool breezes, no cares, no worries, no sadness. Falling asleep in the wee hours. Then waking and entering a room between the trees with a stack of books, a pitcher of iced tea and time for both.
    Nothing but time.

  91. Even though you can’t hear it, I have my violin out and am playing the most romantic gypsy melody. Thank you so much for sharing this evening with us!
(I have always been a gypsy at heart.)

  92. Carolien. says:

It looks like you are living in my fantasy, beautiful, thanks for sharing! I love your blog, the dreamy way you pronounce the things you love.
    Have a great day today!

  93. Maria Therese,
    Relaxing, whats that 😉 ???
Even when I am relaxing I am thinking of things i have to do, or want to
    do.
But, from time to time, I breathe and live in the moment, and I enjoy it so
much. I just swing on my swing. I think relaxing is different for
everyone? I bet that you already relax, and you dont even realize
    it?
Like, for some people, taking photos or editing photos is very
relaxing. This is the case for me. Also, cleaning my house is
relaxing for me (I should try that more often), playing the piano is dreamy
relazing….. So, I think the trick is that relaxing means lots of
different things to everyone. What do you
    think?

  94. Betty says:

    Dearest Dear Vanessa,
Such a wonderful post! I LOVE all of the sleeping areas, tents and thinking of taking a bath there makes me dream!!!! Thank you. Such a nice escape from today.
I am most happy to learn the date of the Halloween party! Mr. V must have sensed it because he is already taking spooky spiderweb photos!! The weather is helping us think of Halloween, as we are supposed to have our first frost the end of this week (Nooo! It’s just too soon! I’m not done with summer yet!).
Biggest hugs to you and your loved ones!
    Betty

  95. LuLu Kellogg says:

I am having a lovely time catching up on all I have missed on your Blog….this is my happy place to come for magic and fur babies! We just adopted two more so now our pack is up to 7! We are nuts!!!
    Love,
    LuLu~*xoxo

  96. Your gypsy dreams are so beautiful and romantic. Looking forward to the Halloween party! Twyla

  97. becky karli says:

I ordered some Halloween labels from you and can’t wait to get started on my potion’s once they arrive! you have filled my head with wonderfully magical idea’s! Thank you Vanessa!

  98. tina says:

Ahhhh Vanessa, my beautiful gypsy friend, I needed this visit today – I was saving it, you know…my world has been crazy these past few weeks – I must ask you – are you waking in the night like me? So much change in the air….hmmmm….do you mind if I stay a little while in your gypsy caravan, and a glass of that red sounds divine. Please pass the flat bread and pesto. So lovely to visit you, as always. Beautiful gypsy dreams to you x

  99. {{ my gypsy dreams
    often
    smell like the freshest basil
    just picked…
    i wonder
    why? }}

  101. oh my!!what a sweet treasure you have in your creativity and life….truly a place I would love to just curl up in and paint!!! thanks for the visual vacation!!!

  102. Miss Linda says:

I’m in aw.. the fun I will be having very soon. All the magic that will soon appear before my very eyes. Don’t know if I can wait…I may burst…all the possibilities that will transpose and the photo’s that I can take.

  103. Oh ,God!They are actually so beautiful! I love them.

  104. Linda Bloom says:

What a beautiful, wonderful post, I LOVE the lighting in your photography in the first few photos especially. What a dreamy evening! Love, Linda

  105. Fleesella says:

Questions were asked: Were the tears for real? Were they a clever-and maybe, desperate-ploy to win her the votes? Or did Hillary for once really let down her guard to allow a glimpse into her emotional side? “Well I said I would not tear up, already we are not exactly on the path,” said an emotional Clinton, even as news of Obama’s surge came through.

  106. Barbara B. says:

Are you REALLY ROMA? Possibly this is a dream you are having. Our people, MY PEOPLE, normally do not live like this. Too much glitz and glamour. Just a fairy tale as far as I can see. But then again I too love a good fairy tale.
    Zingara

  107. Judy Leopard says:

    I feel like I could be there right now…..what a joyful time…so amazing..I love it…thank you….
