We had to pop in for a Welcome Autumn hello! The mornings and evenings are oh so cool, with warm days, and lovely nights. But no one, I dare say, could be happier for fall, than those wearing furry costumes, that they can't ever take off.
And so, we celebrate today with our very own furry boys…
(Miles, left. Matty, short for Matisse, right)
They are so delighted to be taking these photos, can't you tell?
🙂
Actually, I had to beg them to humor me with some photos on such a glorious day. You see, I caught them early this morning, dancing in the glimmer of autumn light…
Then I bribed them.
"I'll give you some turkey, if you let me take a couple of pictures?"
"Pleeeeeease, it's for our friends."
Matty was like, N-O.
No way Jose.
But Miles was like, "Huh? Did someone say turk-ee?"
After Miles pulled Matty aside and had a real heart to heart with him, about how a few slices of turkey sounded real real good, Matty was like, ooooookay (insert big sigh).
So, they put down the muddy pink elephant…
And, adorned with beautiful brown silk ribbons around their necks, they smiled.
Anything for turkey.
I snapped so many photos, they started to get, well, annoyed really.
And then, Miles did the one thing I never thought he would do for camera…
You see, he makes all sorts of hilariously funny faces. He is a character to begin with. But these faces he makes just crack us up.
So, when I asked him to smile, he came out with one of his faces, and boy did I get a laugh!
Thank you MILES! So funny!
They were such good sports!
Matty kept his eyes closed the entire time.
This means, he wants to escape, but because he loves me he is staying.
Even though he doesn't like it.
Haha!
So, once they were done, Miles bonk bonked Matty on the head twice, blessing him for being such a sport 😉
These guys are so so so so soooo much fun. I can't even tell you.
After a wee turkey nosh, they tumbled out the door…
To show me what autumn celebrations really look like!
You know, skipping on two legs…
The high jump!
Each with their own technique…
Chasing games!
And of course, wrestling…
And nothing, nothing, warms my heart more, than how these two play all day long (when they are not sleeping). I love finding them facing each other on their bellies, nose to nose, just chatting the afternoon away.
But mostly, what touches me, is how they are truly brothers.
How Matty lets Miles yank him around. Tough Matty, lets his big little brother get away with anything.
From the day I arrived home with Miles (9 months ago), Matty embraced him completely. Like they both knew that they were meant to share a life together, right here, with us, and all the goodness we can muster for them.
That's love.
Although I don't think he expected his little brother to grow 10, 20, 30, 40 pounds bigger than him. Or howl so loud, and so out of tune, that he bursts your eardrums.
But, they do alright…
Welcome Autumn!!!!
Love, Vanessa, Matty, Miles and the Lovee
ps: I can not believe autumn is here? Pinch me!
pss: We have not had Miles weighed since spring, but Matty weighs 37 lbs. And is one mean, fast as lightining, "get out of my face or else" machine ;) (not with me or papa, but with everyone else). The mail delivery gal told me that she wants a video of him in action, to show what "Beware of Dog" means. Eeks!
psss: One of my fave things Matty does is, when I am sitting at my desk, he jumps up on my left side, licks my cheek, and pushes his head real tight into my neck and stays there. Oh and, if I ask for a hug, he gives me one. Yumm! Do you have an extra fave thing your furry babes do?

Oh precious! I can’t believe the size of Miles next to Matty. He’s is huge! They are just the sweetest babies. Miles’ smile is so funny. Happy Autumn Vanessa, hope it brings many blessing to you, Mr. Lovee, Miles and Matty. <3
Miles is huuuuuuggee compared to Matty! So cute!
Miles and Matty are adorable. I wish I could get Mabel to do half of what they do.
Happy Autumn, my friend.
Hahaha, oh my I laughed out loud at that first furry photo because Matty looks SO unhappy. And miles is SO big now! What good boys.
Oh my gosh!! Just look at those faces, so, so cute.
Take Care,
Tracy M.
0o0o0ohhh goodness, when did miles become sooooooo big??? I remember little miles, and then all of a sudden he is a giant..furry babies grow up so fast…
Hilarious and oh so cute!
Fabbooo furry photo shoot! My fur kids (aka The Delicious) are so happy for the break in the heat. At long last it’s cool enough in the early morning to open the balcony door and let them out to survey all they own and the neighbor’s yards too. Inevitably a neighbor’s dog will be let out into their yard… rawling up the Delicious who will then tear back into the bedroom, down the stairs, out their doggy door and promptly forget what was all the fuss. Silly Delicious
Oh what fun they are having. You can tell they care so much for each other. What a fabulous family you have.
They are both so adorable, and that Miles has grown up way too fast!
I’m in love with the dancing dogs.
I love dogs already, but these photos really seal the deal.
truly beautiful… made me smile.
Yes, my lil’ miss Phoebe (yorkie) will give me a kiss on demand. I can get her to kiss others and kiss her toy before I give it back to her ( i torment her kinda when playing fetch. sometimes she has to kiss the ball to get it back). And she will hug on command too. super cute! melts the ticker every time.
Another thing is her smell. I love the way she smells. I can just breathe her in for minutes at a time.
see ya!
Oh Laura, this is the kicker, Miles has no idea he is not 9 weeks
old. He thinks he is a baby. He tries to cuddle up with me like he
did when he was a baby, and crushes me (secretly, I love how big he is, perfect
for hugging and spooning). And now, his little space at the end of the
couch stretches way through the middle an into my half of the couch, so I have
to scrunch up, but I do it happily of course, so he can watch a movie with me at
night 😉 But sometimes, I plum find him in my bed, all sprawled out.
Matty is much more polite 😉 Matty, he will kiss and hug me, but lay
across you like Miles, never. He likes his own personal space, haha!
Oh and, Miles catches treats way up in the air, and if you are not careful, he
might just eat your food in mid-air, on its way to your mouth. Some people would
be apalled, but I dont mind 😉 I just let him have what he wants (within
reason of course).
Miles and Matty are amazing. That smile of Miles is so engaging and totally had me laughing so hard! What a character!
Your furry boys love you so much, it shows in all of the photos. And they were Dancing! How fun is that??!! Thank you for sharing your furry boys…the loves of your life.
Miss Teresa
I laughed out loud when I seen Miles’s beautiful smile! What are charmer! Your home looks like such a fun and magical place to be! Thank you for sharing your light with us 🙂 xx
Your precious babies made me smile. And I am so happy it’s autumn!
Lisa
What beauties they are!!
My Flea kisses on command….and he’d be embarrassed that I’ve told you….but he also tinkles on command. Which I find very handy when I’ve got somewhere to be fast!
Your furry babies are so cute! Happy autumn, Vanessa!
oh oh! my goodness. what a face. that Miles is precious, and they are both so very handsome! i don’t comment on your blog as often as i intend to, but it tickles me to death anytime i see your fuzzy, lovely babies leaping happily through your whimsical landscape. it makes me miss having dogs (and also more than ten feet of backyard), though i am happy as can be with my coven of cats. :))
they saved my life, i swear it. amazing how these furry little darlings can so quickly and inconspicuously grab hold of your heart and never, ever, ever let go.
i fall in love with them again every day.
(i have really found my calling as a crazy cat lady, tee hee hee.)
That was a feel good post… your dogs are so wonderful! And the jumping in the air photos made me smile!
Rainey
So cute 🙂
Ahhh these pictures are wonderful, they really made me smile. You can tell that Matty isn’t happy about having his photo taken, but he does really love you, so he’ll put up with it.
The photos of them jumping and dancing together are especially adorable.
I have two fur baby cats and they both do different, equally adorable things. Seraphina will come and sit right next to me, against my arm and she’ll put one of her front legs underneath my arm and the other above it so she’s cuddling me, and then fall asleep. 🙂 Every morning when my other cat Rascal hears me get up, she’ll come running up the stairs, her little tail shaking with excitement and she’ll headbutt me and lick me all while purring really loudly, I love those morning cuddles. 🙂
Your fur babies are precious. And I love the action shots! hahaha Mattie doing the high jump is great! You were very smart to capture Miles as a baby. Awwwww so sweet!!!!
I have two fur babies of my own: Stanley and Scruffy. They are my children and my whole heart 🙂
I’m lucky to have so much love….
Oh, I LOVED this fun post. I just feel the urge to make up captions for each adorable photo. This reminds me so much of my dear fur ones, chihuahua mix, Chewie, and border collie mix, Dexter. They rough and tumble oh so much. Sometimes I think Mr. Chewie is not really in the wrestlin’ mood as often as big puppy child Dexter, and I try to encourage him to give poor Chewie a break.
Dexter loves to go what I call “shopping” in our recycle bin in the backyard. He thinks it is his toy box. Yep. Pretty sure. He loves to select plastic milk cartons. They skitter across the patio, as he chases them, and they provide him with such entertainment. Dex also puts his big paw across more petite Chewie’s face just like in your photo. It looks really funny.
Sometimes Chewie melts my heart by coming to the back door and scratching, and when I go to let him in, I see that he is inviting me to come out with him. He does this even when Dexter is already out with him. It touches my heart that he wants my company in particular.
Oh this post made my day!! Jumpy, lovey, happy pups?? Yes, please!! 😀
Wow! They are so adorable! (I especially love the picture of Miles smiling and of him as a tiny puppy!) And Matty is so tolerant….tee hee you can tell he’s against the picture-taking at first, but then he decides to go along with his little brother’s shenanagins after all 🙂 way to put up with your little bro, Matty!
I do have furry stories to share. Actually, more like fluffy stories. 🙂 tee hee check out http://www.awoodlandfantasy.com for full details and pics coming soon 😉
I am so excited for autumn as well! I can’t wait for the weather to cool down and for the leaves to change color. Here it is just hot and muggy and I can’t wait for the cool days. Please come to me, chilly breeze, wherever you are! God of winds, spare us!!!! Haha just kidding. I do love Greek mythology though. Anyway, I’m getting off topic, as usual. Whew, I just got finished with a volleyball tournament and I am pooped! Where is the autumn chill I have been anticipating???? Come on, now!
Soooo….I will visit you again when another post comes around! Can’t wait for the Halloween party! (I’m working on getting the virtual invitation into my sidebar but I am technically challenged to an extent when it comes to creativity with blogs, so it could take a while. Sorry for the inconvenience, friends!!! I do have the actual invitation posted in a blog post, however, so at least it’s a start.)
Hugs and hexes,
Jessica

In my mind, the boys dance to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lArGoRhFr4E&feature=related
The picture where they are wrestling, looks like they are laughing so hard they can’t even contain themselves…
This post made me laugh-cry! I love it!
My wiener dog Bonsai likes to gently attack my hand when I’m sitting on the floor. I flop it around and he chews on it without really using his teeth. Then he gets all excited and tears around the house at about 50 mph! (that’s partly how he got his name!)
Miles and Matty son adorables!
Amo a los perritos.
Feliz otoño.
Oh my word … too cute! LOVE the ribbons and the dancing in the light! Wonderful way to start my week!
How fun!! My fur baby, Dexter, brings his toys- slobbered and dirty- to my human baby to share with her. It’s so gross, but how can I tell the little fella to stop when he’s being so nice? Sometimes he’s extra generous and brings her his milk bone- then I have to step in and take it away. So sweet though.
Tee hee! Oh I feel like such a little chair potato looking at all this romping and fun!! Happy Autumn to You and Yours!!!
Oh Vanessa, I was overjoyed to see Matty and Miles featured for Autumn! They are just fabulous and had me smiling like a cheesier cat! My poor furry girl Trixie, who looks almost exactly like Matty, ended up at vet Friday, due to some kind of reaction to a bug bite or food? It was sooo scary and her poor face blew up and she had hives popping up all over. She looked so much more like a chow with her chubby cheeks that me and my kiddos could not help but giggle at her poor face, (after we knew the doctor said she would be ok, of course). Yikes, Shame on us!
Anyways, love, love, love Miles funny face! Sooo funny! Did it bring you to laughter tears the first few times? <3 to U and the Boys! 😉
OMG!!!!! VANESSA!!! I just cannot believe how big he is!!!! Goodness me! this cute little fur ball has changed sooooooo much.
WOW!!!! He is gorgeous. NO…they BOTH are!
XO!!!
Happy Autumn, dearest Vanessa!!!! What a lovely way to celebrate – with furry babies in the great outdoors. These photos are just soooo cute, Vanessa! My furry babies do lots of odd things (some which aren’t mentionable here…LOL) I do love when they show empathy…it is amazing to see how perceptive our furry children can be. One time I was very sad, and my Willow came over and put her paw on my shoulder. I also think it’s cute when they do human things, like burp and yawn and LAUGH! 🙂 xoxo
Precious precious precious puppy moments…those two are meant to be together! I take zillions of pics of my kids….and I also take zillions of photos of our sweet Ciara. Often times I pick up the camera to look for a photo I took to find photos of the dog that my kids have taken. I love how they grab the camera and start snapping pictures of their baby! I think the sweetest thing I adore is how her little clock in her head goes off and tells her it is time to pick up the boys from school. She will be over at the door waiting before I ever even say anything. She has this internal clock that just tells her it is time to go! I have a special bed in the front seat that she snuggles up in for the ride, she props her head up on the edge so she can watch me drive…and of course conveniently pet her all the way to school. Best part is how she jumps up on the car window when she hears the school bell ring, she knows they are coming!
p.s. Do bunnies get into and eat your pumpkin patch!?
What a lovely post – thank you for sharing! Your guys are too sweet! I have a couple of crazy “girls” at my house and one of them is so camera shy.
LOVE the chocolatey ribbons. They’re being so good in front of the suitcases. How in the world did they learn to jump like that? Great backlight in their fur, by the way.
My old dachshund does not photograph well. Isn’t that funny? You know how some people are cute in person but look bad in photos? It’s like that.
Happy Autumn Vanessa! Love the photos of Matty & Miles 🙂
