We had a lovely weekend, waking up with the roosters at the country house.
It's so utterly cozy.
Light some candles, reach for a good book.
And, you'll never believe this, but my white pumpkin has lasted for 3 years.
Isn't that a mysterious miracle of Pumpkin King proportions?
The dogs and I ran around under the crescent moon.
Then we awoke early to run around the garden paths in crisp cool air.
The days are very warm again, but the late nights and early mornings have tinges of cool crisp air peeking out.
We watched movies and I painted under my giant skylight.
I took stacks of books and magazines to bed with me, such a delight.
Nothing like really just enjoying a moment.
Oh and, you'll never guess what happened.
You know our tiny resident bunny?
The one who hosts tea parties in mushroom forests, and lives in a pink mansion on the hill?
If you're thinking of the little guy that keeps giant birthday candles for light in his house…
Then yes, that is the very one I speak of.
He rang me in a tizzy this evening, because…
Someone left a giant white pumpkin on his front door stoop.
And we are wondering, who on earth it could have been?
With so much magic swirling about due to the changing season, anything is possible these days.
The Pumpkin Queen tried to steal my pink tulle skirt, and Mr. and Mrs. Pumpkin wanted me to draw them into a whole new illustrated tale this weekend.
The Halloween characters are tapping on the inside lid of my old trunk saying, let us out, we want out.
Huge boxes of pumpkin holiday treasures came out of my attic shelves.
There are pumpkin babes of all colors strewn here, there and everywhere.
Witch hats and frog princes.
Everyone has decided they are breaking free, and what ever could I do, but oblige?
It's all happening.
The season is so short, we've decided to just go for it.
I pruned roses today and checked on growing pumpkins.
I shipped off some really fun orders and got way too much sun.
The rain should return this weekend, I hope, so that the garden can get extra happy again.
I hope you are doing lovely out there, I wonder often, what could you possibly be up to?
You must share with me, your own tales.
Have you bought a fancy new hat, or brushed your pet bat?
Have you a new cat, with one blue eye?
Did you have a tower of pancakes, with perfect syrup and berries?
Have you been playing the harp under the moonlight?
Have you sewn yourself a new gown for the masquerade ball?
Pray tell, what do you get up to out there in your neck of the woods?
One can only imagine if one does not tell.
😉
Well, I best be off to feed my giant polar bear, Teddy.
Take good care, and I will see you sooner than soon.
Love, Vanessa

Ooh how I love your magical tales, my heart smiles. I have been crocheting myself a cardigan in between reorganising my creative space. I’d love you to pop by my blog for a closer peep into my little world of whimsy xo
Well I woke up Saturday morning and decorated my space in all the pumpkins and ghosties and Halloween items I had! My love came downstairs and wasn’t surprised at all that I was starting early. In my house, September 1 starts the spooky season!
I have collected seeds from my ginormous SunFlowers… then trimmed off all the dead heads.. So they can put their energy into more Flowers.. The ants are taking care of their little aphid farms.. The aphids for the most part don’t seem to be hurting the SunFlowers and i like to think of the ants going around tendint their ‘farm’.. Enjoyed your post very much Vanessa.. Taking myself to a matinee this afternoon.. to see The Invitation.. supposed to be a Vampire movie.. OOOOOooo.. Hugs! deb
I have started working in the big garden again. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by how big it is, and how little energy and strength I have, but then other times I see the progress I’ve made again and I feel really charged up by what could be! Then, of course, when I look at your gardens, I feel even more charged up! I’m also working in the garden at home, which I’m trying to simplify so I can have more energy for the big garden next year, and still be happy here. Right now it’s such a beautiful day that the back door can stand open, and the wind chimes are ringing in the breeze, and it’s just beautiful.
I’m also painting the antique fireplace mantle that i have in the bedroom, and wondering how I should layer the paint so it’s the right colors and textures, but doesn’t take away from the shape of the fireplace.
Also, thank you so much for the pictures of the dollhouse, I am OVER THE MOON about them! I hope more will come soon!
oooh, also, I am almost finished making a pinafore, and am thinking about making pettycoats!
what a wonderful surprise for Mr. Rabbit! i wish someone would leave me a pumpkin and maybe some magically fanciful pumpkin queen would come help me decorate my home for the season! 😉
i’m currently trying to decide if i am going to join a new health/fitness center nearby that has a wonderful pool. i really miss the water. i’m also debating bringing a new furbaby into my home. i haven’t had one since 2014 and i have very extreme mixed feelings. but it gets lonely here all by myself so a furbabe would give me some company.
i’m also working on getting the house cleaned up so i can bring out my autumn/spooky season decor. i’m always so inspired by you!
love & magicks

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty & Teddy
pps…sorry for such a long soliloquy. 🙂
Dear me, what have I been up to, let’s see…tending pumpkins, rubbing my puppy’s tummy, trying to make a pretty thingy for my autumn mantle and sewing sewing sewing. And of course peeking into little Mr. Bunny’s dreamy château. Wherever did he get such excellent taste. 💖💖💖 I hope your day is turning out to be ever so lovely Dear Friendling. 💖💖💖
Oh my goodness, I’m laughing and feel happy when you said you have to feed your giant polar bear! :0) I love him so much. Like how can that possibly be when I’ve never even met him? Cozy days for sure for you!! We had rain on Friday through Saturday morning. I gardened ALL day yesterday, even when it rained a little. I relished it! I came in filthy, smelly, hungry, and soooo happy. :0) I thought about you while it rained because I, too, jump with joy when it does rain. I never run for cover! Bring it on, I say. My oldest moved into her first apartment and, my middle daughter, we moved her into her dorm in NY. My youngest is still at home with 2 years left of high school. She is itching to leave like her sisters. I’m sad to be truthful because they are my life and they are already flying away. It happened so fast. But, I’m learning to let go and give them space to explore life. xoxoxoxo Jen
Well I must really pull out my pink tutu and dance under the moon. I have found one very little pumpkin now growing in my garden with the hope of more. The little mice are having a tea party there too. Now is time to join them just to sip a bit of tea.
