It's gorgeous outside!
Do you feel so happy in autumn?
I sure do.
Even the setting sun becomes mysterious in its burnt orange and golden glow.
The days are about 90'F and the nights about 70'F at 9 p.m.
All I want to do is sit under the big twinkly tree or swing in the hammock.
Absorbing these days of October.
I feel like I always have to fight for my October days as I am being catapulted towards the holidays faster than fast.
I love the holidays, but…
I need my autumn too, what about you?
Oh oh…
Guess what I went and did?
Wait, to back track…
As you know a few years ago I left city life for the country.
I traded cocktail parties for growing seeds in the garden.
I didn't have phone or television.
I finally got television channels last year.
But I was really resisting a more modern day cell phone.
Alas, I plunged last week.
And now I am officially on Instagram too.
I know I know, I have been years late to all social media.
I really fought it.
Now I don't even know why?
I just wanted to paint and plant things in the country after leaving city life.
Be less connected I guess.
I only joined Facebook last year or so.
But I am pretty much over those feelings of solitude these days.
Haha!
My sister made me an Instagram account when she was here a few months ago.
So, now I can use it.
I am having a ball!
No wonder you all love it so much 🙂
Little snapshots of this and that's, I love it, so easy and fun!
Everyone's excited about it, it seems, even the butters 😉
I love that you can post super short little videos too.
Fun fun!
Alsoooooo…
Something wonderful and exciting.
We were featured in this stunning magazine called Scarlet Pink.
Anna Brahms' dolls are on the cover.
Her work is beyond!
Amazing.
I shared oodles of Halloween goodies from my little world on the pages…
Fun fun times!
There are sooo many beautiful bits of art and goodness in this magazine.
My gooooodnesss indeedy!
Sooooooooo…
Guess what?
I am giving a Scarlet Pink magazine away to one of you.
Yep.
Sure am 🙂
Just leave a comment saying anything you want.
Like…
What you love about autumn.
Or…
What was the last song you danced to?
Anything!
This magazine is a real treat I tell ya.
A mysterious and curious gem!
Just what the heart needs for inspiration
I'll pick a name out of the hat in a couple days!
Looooove,
V

Oh beautiful! I’m feeling so “artily” inspired lately! Congratulations on the publication and thanks for the chance to win!
What a beautiful magazine, congrats on being featured!
We celebrated our Thanksgiving this weekend with very warm temps for Canada!
Thanks!
At last Autumn….one of my fav seasons. Windy and rainy here but still loving it.
Congratulations! I’m embarrassed to say I have not heard of this magazine, but will be checking it out. Your pictures are, as usual, lovely.
Yay, yippee, woohoo! I just followed you on instagram…fun, fun, fun. Springtime here in Melbourne, Australia. Big hugs from me to you xxx
Autumn….it just brings me back to center!
I still don’t have instagram, but not because I am against it or rebelling against the masses or anything. It is just because my phone takes AWFUL photos! I want instagram, but photos are the whole point, so if I can’t take good ones it just seems silly to have it. Someday when I get a phone with a better camera I will though!
Congratulations on the new feature. I love autumn, too. Autumn in New England is pure magic. True magic.
Your still ahead of me on social media! I learn from your experience! Hope I win the magazine.
Oh.my.word Vanessa…I am so happy to see that you have an instagram account!!! I’m like you too, I need my autumn. It’s my favorite season nowadays. That’s a beautiful mag…congrats on being included.
Miss ya mucho,
Jamie 🙂
Autumn has brought me back to my desire to write in my journal. It’s habit I’ve slipped out of since starting back to school but the cooler weather makes me feel like it’s time to write down all those thoughts that come with the darker days!
Yay a giveaway! Such fun.
Hi!
I am also a lover of Autumn. We have already had a couple of snows here. It’s been very cold in my little forest. Fireplace has been roaring away. It’s so beautiful though, sitting on a big cushion on the floor beside the fire writing this.
I have often thought of getting an instagram account but I thought that it might be complicated and I am not really all that tech savvy! 🙂
The last song I danced to…that was something on Pandora this morning…The Astounding Eyes of Rita.
Have a Beautiful evening!
oh, i am so glad i found out about that beautiful magazine!! i will have to see if i can get my little paws on a copy soon!! your layout is gorgeous!
alas…no fall for us down here in miami. but it is a little bitty bit cooler.
i miss the change of seasons, even as minimal as it was in new orleans.
Wow that magazine looks amazing, congrats on being featured in it!
I just stumbled on your fanciful world! Love it! It’s given me so much inspiration for my upcoming Halloween campfire party in our forest. Thank you for sharing your creativity!
Connecting with you on Instagram has added extra magic and fairy dust to my world xxxxxLaurie
Another beautiful post and congrats on your magazine article. How exciting for you. I’m already following you on instagram! Best wishes…Judevlinder (my instagram name)
How exciting about the magazine! I’d love to have it!
I already follow you on Facebook and Pinterest. I just joined Instagram, and of course will have to follow you there also. You add such beautiful magic to my life. 🖤
My favorite thing about Fall……… EVERYTHING! Cooler temps, longer nights, the leaves the pumpkins……can it just be Fall all year long…pretty pretty please??? But time marches on…. Fall is like the Universe holding its breath until the first snowflake falls…….
How exciting to be in that magazine Vanessa. I would love to have a copy! I’ve never even heard of it but it looks beautiful! Hugs! deb
So much good in one post! Congratulations on your feature in such a beautiful magazine, and on taking the Instagram plunge! Instagram is fun and I love it too! I love, love fall! Something about the relief of these HOT California temperatures finally easing into something more comfortable, those first few evenings when you break out the flannel jammie pants (like tonight!) are the best. Aaand, maybe I’m a little partial because I got married in October, October is the best. AND! Halloween! What’s not to love about our dear, beloved autumn?
p.s. I’d love to throw my hat in the ring for a copy of that lovely magazine, thank you for the chance!
I love autumn, but we sure don’t have any 90 degree days! It rained all day here in Michigan, but I love fall rains, because they seem so peaceful and cleansing. The only part I don’t like is knowing that all the leaves will soon be on the ground. That means the cold and snow will be here soon. But naked trees look so beautiful covered in shimmering snow. Winter does have its own beauty. However, if only we could get all of our family to move south, I don’t think I’d mind a few 90 degree days instead.
Your blog keeps me inspired to enjoy the holidays. Going pumpkin picking this weekend and will be thinking of all the loveliness you post for each holiday! 😀
I love the orange glow of a sun low in the trees!
I would love to move to the country, although being here is sort of in between country and city which will have to do for now. I got Facebook really late compared to schoolfriends and other people my age, I didn’t get it til way after highschool! I am still resisting instagram!
Wow, that looks like such a great magazine, I would love to have a copy of it! The dolls look fascinating! Your stuff would fit in great in that magazine, you always inspire me! One day I will have a place of my own to decorate too!
I love Autumn leaves. When I was a kid I lived in a place where I was surrounded by Liquid Amber trees, seeing the coloured leaves in red, yellow, purple and combinations thereof was magical! I remember jumping the piles of leaves, and, on one occasion, throwing seedballs at each other. I even did an art assignment based around those trees. I’d like to have some Chinese Maples one day as they are a smaller more compact version that I could have, wherever I end up living.
Dear Miss V,
I must admit that my favorite time of year is Autumn!!! I love the changing of the leaves, bright reds, oranges and yellows…the crispness in the air and homemade apple and pumpkin pies. Everything about this season is just so wonderfully sweet!!!
Congrats on being in the magazine! Oh how I would love to win your giveaway.
Looking forward to seeing more of you in your new social network on IG.
Much Love,
Dena
Congrats on the magazine feature! I’m sort of lamenting the lack of autumnal weather here in Florence, Italy (it’s still muggy and hot almost every day) and they don’t have Halloween. BUT a bunch of us bought carnival masks in Venice a few weekends ago and we’re planning on throwing our own little Halloween celebration. Can’t miss my favorite holiday!
I love Autumn.
Good morning Vanessa, the magazine looks wonderful. I’m afraid that my laptop is as technical as I get! But I wouldn’t want to be without it1 Blessings
As always Thank You for sharing your Magickal world with us. You are such an inspiration & Congratulations on your much deserved Pink Scarlet feature.
I always love the energetic shift under my feet when Autumn is coming , the crispness of the early morning air and all the fun decorating ideas that get underway.
An awesome magazine indeed…I would love to own one.
It is defiantly Autumn here but the temperatures are between 55 and 70…What? That is crazy weather Michigan style. I now that it will change soon.
Congrats Vanessa on your publication in this very interesting magazine, love the art work in it, no more warm days or nights here in Michigan, however I still love October for the crisp air, wool sweaters, “My” birthday month, Halloween with Grandchildren, and so much more! Looks like you are having fun in your new Tech’y world, it can be fun, take care,
Celeste, Plumfield House Gardens, http://plumfieldhousegardens.blogspot.com/
Yes,I’m feeling the magic of Autumn too. This Year there’s been something so special about the setting Sun and the Moon has been extra special to Me this Year.Autumn nights are so enchanting, esp.the night of the eclipse and the red Moon.I went outside at 3:30 AM and ENJOYED.Yes I would love to be in Your drawing 🙂 Happy days and nights-Denise
I am so thrilled you are on Instagram. My feed (@nieveandestrellas) just got better! And I’d love to have a sit down with that magazine. It looks very intriguing.
Have a lovely October day!
Autumn is my most favorite time of year. It’s not too hot and sunny and it’s Halloween time!! Congrats on being in Scarlet Pink magazine! I’ve never heard of it, but ti looks beautiful. I will have to check it out.
Tracy M.
Beautiful ! Good Luck to All !
Oh how charming it will be, reading aloud Scarlet Pink to Alessandra Venitia and Esmeralda whilst sipping tea and eating sweet cakes. And I, of course, will be draped in my just arrived last night V.V. jewels jewelry, wearing both my earrings and necklaces that are so magical and beautifully lovely beyond words. My hubby, Mr. N8, was bedazzled when he laid eyes upon me whilst I tried them on for the 1st time.
Congrats on ur awesome article in S.P. & Joy of joys on ur instagraming. Cheers of the season Dear V.V. – Pinkstrita
What a beautiful looking magazine! And if I can say anything I want I’ll just say “Bibbity bobbity boo!” I’m not on instagram, hmmmm, I thought it was just a way to take photos on your phone. Not sure if I should check it out or leave it be. I love autumn best of all. It is my heart season. But, alas, I love the other seasons too so I can’t even wish it was always autumn. Although it’s tempting.
Congratulation!!!! Being featured must be so exciting! I’m following you on Instagram. I love all the butterflies in the video! So magical! I love Autumn because change happens all around me. The colours change, leaves fall, the air becomes cool and lovely. Of course then we have Canadian thanksgiving and Halloween. Congratulations again!!!
Love to read magazines of the good, old fashioned, print variety – digital just doesn’t compare! And yes – Instagram!! Exploring/posting/getting started is on my “to do” list this month, although I’m not sure my little 4s iphone can keep up. Then again, it might be an excuse to upgrade, hehe….
See you at the Halloween party very soon!
🖤 Carolee
Oooh V! What a luscious, lovely article in what looks to be a scrumptious magazine. Your sparkly goodness, which I thoroughly enjoy, is being spread far and wide. Congratulations. I will seek it out to add to my magazine collections – more fun!
Here in Florida Autumn means porch weather. We sit in our screen porch and visit, eat, listen to music. I love it. When the weather cooperates our porch is my favorite room in the house. Butterflies were flying between flowers outside and birds were dining at the feeders when we ate lunch today. It’s the best sort of entertainment.
Always enjoy your blog and your artwork. Keep up the good work!
I looooove new mags!
I miss my New England Autumns so much it makes my heart ache every year. 15 years I’ve been away living in the Sonoran Desert………..and it still does not feel like home. Nothing replaces the smell of the leaves, or the woods….nothing. Of course, it IS starting to be quite nice here…..it’s not AS bloody hot and the sky is brilliant blue…..but I still miss home when Autumn comes.
Vanessa:
I am late to the game, as usual. But….congratulations on the magazine article. It looks gorgeous!
And….now that you’re on Instagram, this definitely means I need to finally break down and do the same. I love looking at Instagram pictures. I guess it’s time I find my way to the modern world too.
xoxo

Gerushia’s New World
P.S. The last song I danced to was (believe it or not) “Shoots and Ladders” by Korn….2 days ago.
I am looking forward to your Halloween party, and I am planning my small town’s Halloween party, and my birthday/Halloween party at home – it’s a crazy party month and I love it!
ANd I would love a copy of that magazine, we don’t get rare gems like that in the magazine shelves over here.
We are “enjpying” a dreary rainy chilly week.
There are not enough hours in a day to take advantage of all the available social media.
I have been watching some VINE videos on a Halloween papercrafting hop.
My phone is not that smart. While I have some tv, there still is not enough good programming to watch. Nature is much more valued and entertaining.
What a lovely magazine!
Also, I’m so glad you joined instagram; such a fun way to share with others, the best of social media imho.
Yes, nature is the bestest for sure!! I agree 😉
Hurrah and congratulations on the magazine feature – how cool!
(I would love to have a copy, and get to see your words and your photos in print, on glossy magazine pages, so I have my fingers crossed, but then again, so do we all…) 🙂
Funny you should ask about music last danced to: I had some old records playing yesterday afternoon, and spent a few moments dancing to Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” while cleaning the kitchen.
Oh I just love Scarlet Pink!! Never actually held one in my hand, but it’s pretty amazing!!
This is GREAT news Vanessa!!! Congrats to you!!! The cooler weather just makes me want to dance while the sights of Autumn make me smile like a Jack- o-‘ lantern! TeHeHEEeeeee…..;)
I’ve never heard of that magazine before…very cool and congratulations to you. I always look for the mags when you say you’re in an issue, but I can’t seem to locate them here in Florida. I wonder if certain ones are only available in select markets?
Anyway, glad you’re on Instagram. I have an account and don’t use it a lot, but I’ve added you on my friends list. 🙂
It felt like fall in Chicago these past few weeks but now it’s been more like spring. It’s been cloudy, rainy & humid.
We were lucky though that all those bad storms & tornadoes went south of us!
There’s something magical in the air during October! It just feels different!
That magazine looks very interesting! I’ve never heard of it before.
I’m so excited…less than 2 weeks until your Halloween Party! Time sure flies!
Congratulations …… that is SO exciting 🙂
Vanessa, I made your Pumpkin Bread recipe over the weekend …. what can I say other than WOW !!! It is simply delicious and a HUGE hit with my family …. I see MANY loaves of pumpkin bread making their way into my oven, before Autumn is over …… Thank you so much for sharing your recipe 🙂
I just love your blog…it always inspires me. 🙂
Dearest Dear Vanessa,
Congratulations on your feature in this cool magazine and thank you for the fun giveaway! We don’t get any interesting magazines here at all, so this is the first I had heard of it. I checked out their website and it looks like so much fun! Autumn there would be like heaven to me because it’s still warm and filled with flowers! I’m not too crazy about it getting cold (although we got into the 70’s today!), but Halloween makes it all worthwhile! We are pretty excited because we are treating ourselves this weekend by going to a reading of ghost stories by gaslight at The Victoria Mansion in Portland and then dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant after! It should be quite fun!
Wishing you a lovely evening,
Betty
Something ethereal drew me to your blog this evening…my kindred spirit soul, perhaps? Or the whimsical fairy that you are, where you reside among the flowers and gypsy days?
Oh! The Scarlet Pink magazine is beyond enchanting! It is so magical, and pulls me into its pages like ink to paper. I could easily become one of the dolls in the photos and live a life of doll bliss.
It’s so lovely your Halloween photos were taken into the pages by other worldly muses to reside forever in the recesses of the printed page. I cannot express it any other way, then to say…it would be beyond adoration to win that magazine!
I am hoping!!!
Miss Teresa
Love this magazine! I will have to go find! Yummy! And love LOVE the pictures of your enchanted garden. I have a rose tree and it makes me think of you (yes, I might have had some of your pictures in mind when I bought it)… I think of myself as wanting to be you when I grow up 🙂 The rose has blooms all over it right now! It has the most perfect colors of pink and green – in Autumn? Where has it been, well oh yeah we went without rain for so long this summer. I’d love a walk through of your garden and to take a notebook on how to grow this or how much water to give or not give that… oh and some good furry lovin! Those babies are adorable!
Blessings!!
I’ve been reading your blog for about 5 years now and I still love it 🙂 My favorite time to read your blog is during fall. You sure have a great eye <3
Love your stuff.
Miss your cute little clay figurines.
xoxo
P.
I so love Autumn too. The smell, the coolness in the air, the way the sunlight shines at a different angle than the rest of the year! Congratulations on the magazine feature! Looks like a cool magazine.
Anything you want 🙂 lol.
Congratulations sweet angel!
xoxo
what a gorgeous magazine! Thank you for the links!
Love the magazin…my favorite time of the year HALLOWEEN
Hugs from germany
Kerstin
beautiful magazine and now I’m inspired to try Instagram too – thanks!!
Vanessa, your world is a thing of dreams. Just look at those two pumpkins sitting so comfortably in front of your picket fence…dreamy.
This camera happy girl had resisted Instagram too, but just yesterday my daughter helped me set up my own account, and I absolutely LOVE it. Less than 24 hours and I’m totally hooked, most of all to its simplicity.
Congrats on the Scarlet Pink feature, and thx for the giveaway.
xoxo
October tale (by Veronica)
Once upon a time I lived in a country without seasons. Flowers bloomed all year long, plants were always green and all kind of tropical birds and butterflies flew around kissing calyces and adorning trees.
Then, one day, two gypsies sought me out. „Who are you?“ I asked. And they told me they were Destino and Vida and that very soon a huge vessel with metal wings would carry me over the Ocean to the Old World many miles away. I changed the Orinoco for the Rhine, and so a land in which summer ceased to be eternal became my new home.
It never stopps feeling strange when the sunny season sleepely retires to her bed-chamber. Fleeting reality seems to leave the mysteries of life uncovered. Something that wasn’t there before is now being laid bare. Doesn’t one season already contain the other? Year after year, the same natural spectacle! Golden and crimson leaves start covering the ground. Could it be the autumn fairies rolling out a shining carpet for their Queen? Fine veils of mist hang in the streets of my village. Sometimes a dense fog swallows up the surrounding woods. Autumn magic is all around while my warm, Caribbean past sinks into oblivion as once did Atlantis…
Happy Autumn, Vanessa!
This is such an exciting time of year, isn’t it?
What do i love about autumn? All of it! Everything!
Today is absolutely glorious here, weather-wise: 55F / 13C degrees with fog this morning and the most beautiful display of leafy colours imaginable!
This year is extra-special for me as I recently fulfilled a years-long ambition, so I’m celebrating both this spectacular season as well as the fact that I am now a Certified Consulting Hypnotist. A *practising* one at that! 😀
Congratulations on your Scarlet Pink feature! It looks beautiful and magical, and I’m really looking forward to reading it.
Cheers,
Meg
Loving having you in Instagram so much! I hope you are enjoying it too, it is just a blast and such an easy way to communicate with friends and art fans alike!

In a message dated 10/16/2014 8:46:16 A.M. US Mountain Standard Time,
What a beautiful magazine! I love the sight, sound and smell of fallen leaves. 🙂
I have resisted instsgram so far. I’m happy you are on it.
The last song I danced to was Shake your body down to the ground by The Jacksons. Sometimes the old stuff is still fresh today.
I love Autumn especially since it’s Jacob’s birthday month. Halloween is coming. It’s full of magic for me. Also, I know egg not season won’t be too far behind too.
I super excited your on Instagram! Yay!
So excited your on Instagram…gonna go find you there right after I leave this comment! My most favorite thing about fall, out of many many favorites, has to be visiting the local pumpkin farm and picking out the perfect pumpkin…which is usually warty and lopsided, the one that needs a home.
Autumn is the most magical time of the year! Would be tickled “Scarlet Pink” to get a copy. 🙂
Yaaaaay you’re on Instagram now!! 🙂 I’ve followed you. 🙂
