I am trying not to flounder. But, I am working so hard to get ready for this next show and there is so much to do. Also, things take so long – from firing to my thick oil fruits to dry…I will just keep trecking along and hopefully it will all come together…You guys are probably so sick of hearing this. However, your support is so amazing and wonderful!!!
There are little oil fruits & veggies drying all over the place, and the gallery, a total wreck as I am taking it apart to change the ambience…You can't do the same thing for every show, you know this I am sure. Now, the oil fruits are fun and colorful, but they do not show a lot of who I am like my little faces. However, people fight over the fruits and veggies. They love them. Maybe because they are easy on the eye, colorful and don't make any deep emotions pop up in the brain. Unless you had a bad encounter with Strawberries, hives etc.. hee hee.. Well, not that funny. As people with strawberry allergies get crazy reactions to the lovely little fruit. That reminds me of that Meg Ryan movie? Where she is dating a french guy who leaves her for John Travolta's wife???And she puts strawberries in his…I don't remember where but the reaction is bad…
Oh Turnips!!! My new favorite saying….
Also, there is a new logo for the back of my line of greeting cards!! Yay!I like it. It could change but it is good for now…And, it looks so cute on the back of the cards!!!
It looks really lovely on the pastel card stock. But for now, here it is on white…And it will go on my cards, (below). Although, the cards have changed a whole lot. This was three of last Spring's girls, of a line of 250 cards, all original, all different, all gone…
Then there is the picture that I wish I could have had my vintage dress form for (it is at home). I settled for my skinny beaujois mannequin with the $250 wig. Why I bought it (the wig)? God only knows this…However, she has really really good hair with lovely guido girl streaks…Very hip? I don't know, I think I am boardering on cheesy. The problem? Well, this tour book goes out to a huge variety of people, not just ones who would be intruiged by my little drawings. Therefore…The mannequin choice. Last time there were two mannequins. This time only one. I don't know. I am torn about it. But it is done…Used, gone to print, vanished. Too late to change. I must say though, the mannequin does her job, she attracts lots of people in that little tour booklet…Also, this is not the picture I used, I used a wider shot because there was pottery, jewels & paintings all around her, but I wanted you to see her…Her 5 seconds of glory.
I am also in magazine heaven and trying to catch up while on the treadmill. I might end up flying off the thing and landing upside down in a weight machine if I am not more careful with my treadmill viewing sessions….Here are a few shots of the new Country Living Magazine. OH MY!!!!! You must get it… It has a feature on the owners of Earth Angles Toys, an online retail folk-art-gallery, and their Spring afternoon of food and shopping, by invitation only for artists, clients, friends and family…Plus, the magazine is full of other wonderful delights and it is the "women entrepreneur" issue!!(snipette below) I have a dozen of those glitter birdies, got 'em at Bon.
I have a million other things to say and show, but I really have to go out venturing today. The real world beckons, then back to the art world. Please be patient with my slow visits to you this week! I adore visiting everyone individually and can't wait for a solid three hour slot to do so!!!
My only "daughter" who is growing so fast was such a love, as usual, this morning. I was telling her all about you girls and she begged to shake your hand and then allow you, yes allow you, to massage her belly. Like she is doing you a favor by allowing you to do so….Never did I think I would own a living creature, especially one who sniffs your hair and neck while you try to sit on the front stoop stairs and read…Oh, and she shakes her tale in time to whatever you are singing…We are a musical family… What can I say…
Gypsy boy is playing his guitar as I type…I think he is getting in the mood to go see "The Who" in concert in Phoenix this evening…I just asked him, where are you going tonight? and he said, "Senior Citizens hard rock"…He says, "Ticket masters ought to give AARP members a discount." hee hee. Well, my Mr. Lovee, I say to him, "you will be the senior citizen with the best hair." Can you imagine having those natural curls???Although, the length, the pony tail.. I am not so sure…Although, he only wears the pony tail at home…Oh, and these are his cabinets, which he painted himself before I knew him….Can you suggest a color change…Anything but "tanned flesh tone."
I might be frazzled, but I will still put on my hair brooch, my big pearls, and head out…It is special little angels who love my work and purchase such objects as the one below (that means the world to me) that keep me inspired and motivated…Plus all the support from around here…You girls are wonderful!!! Thank you!!! (Below, Painting: "Reclaiming your Heart" Oil on Wood, 2006, interactive art piece.) I will let the owner speak herself if she so chooses…She is a love for sure!!!
Wish me luck in the big big world. The venturing process is now in effect!!! Smiles and hugs abound!!! See you very very soon!!
PS:Miss Sarah, thank you for my trade! I think I am the winner in this swap? I will make it good, don't worry!!! Girls, Go check out the swap for yourself!!! Quite the talented lady!!

i love the ‘broken heart’, and sorry…it is so obviously a radish to me now! i like it as a rosebud too, though! ;] and the mr.’s hair IS very cool! my hubby would kill to have that kind of hair! (his is ‘turning loose’!)
Love you, love you, love you!!!!!!

Miss Vanessa I wish you all the luck in the big big world out there with your beautiful authentic art!you go girl!
(Bellyrub for your cutie dog from me)
xoxo Desirée
Why is Lovee’s hair better than mine?! This cannot be. Perhaps I shall steal it. Perhaps.
I think you should paint the tan part of the cupboards a fresh lemony yellow. I think that would look so fun with the blue — which I love!
Don’t stress out too much, my dear. You will get everything finished. All will be well! I love the turnip!
I am not sure how or why I remember this, but the movie is called Addicted to Love and Meg puts the strawberries in the French man’s pillow case so he has a nasty allergic reaction. I love your little fruit paintings. Can you paint me a pomegranate? Not now, but later when you have time and aren’t busy preparing for your show. I wish I could help you, but you know it’s my birthday!!
I don’t have to imagine what it’s like to have curly hair because I DO and it drives me insane most of the time.
I could suggest a color for your cabinets but I would have to see the rest of the kitchen. I’m always a fan of green. 🙂
You must convince Mr Lovee to show himself from the front,he’s so cute from the back! I must admit I am envious for his oppurtunity to hear The Who. Last year I played Mrs Walker ,in Tommy(the role made famous by Ann-Margret)and every time I hear the dumdilddle-ummdiddle umm diddlu diddle umm opening strains of Pinball Wizard the hairs on my arms stand up,I mean just hearing it in my head has that effect! Tell him to give you a review!
Love all your pics, love the collaberative piece ! The Turnip, the cards, the mannequin,(gotta get me one!). I hope your show goes great!!!! I know it will!
Fabulous!! fabulous!! those fruits and veggies in oil just fabulous!! your tallents are endless what beauties and creations can one such fanciful twist think up next!!??
your blogs such a joy, a real joy, better than a joy it makes me giggle and smile and gives me lots of inspiration.

you rock! you know that, right? you need to stand in from of a mirror and yell out, “i may be busy bit i rock the hizzy!” ok? i wish i could go to your show…and buy up all of the faces. and maybe some cards. and some fruit. there is just something about food and paintings, isn’t there???
and i love earth angels toys…i’ve almost bout julie arkell pieces from her several times but i am always to cheap to take the pluge, but i did buy her book which is superdelicioso…
and i think the cabinets should just be changles slightly…maybe to more of a lemony yellow? (i know you like you some lemons).
and that hair…it sounds like i may be 5th or 6th in line but i’d like to steal it too…or maybe i’ll just take that expensive wig of yours…
I want to see people fighting over the fruits and veggies. I’m imagining one huge food fight! I wish you the best of luck in your preparations, and I applaud you for still getting on the teadmill (and squeezing in some good magazine reading, too) with all of this going on.
The fruits and veggies are lovely…actually, it all is! I especially love the cards and the new design for the back. I can’t wait to see all the ambiance you’re creating in the studio. And Mr. Lovee’s hair, what is it withe men? My Pal Amy’s brother decided to grow out his hair, and it’s super long and beatuifuly curly…and he uses products like “Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific” on it…typical!
good luck dear Miss – I also like the turnip; and hope to look Mr. Lovee in the eyes – only you would understand cayenne laced with chocolate
xox – eb.

(Gurl, why didn’t I think to blog about it?!)
And Mr. L looks sort of familiar at that angle… are you hiding someone famous under your wings there? Give up the scoop!!! And oh yah, I see hershey’s syrup on the counter! Lol!
The baby girl is such a little pretty! She has no jewels on – gasp! *scratchies from Smoochie, and tell momma to make you a tiara*
I luuuurve the flower hat on Manny Quinn. Her hair’s hot too, that biotch! The bling on her is stunning, wow!! You know your jewelry is absolutely beautiful. And what is that pink fluffy piece that didn’t make it into the shot? Hmm? Are you trying to hide that from me???
Umm, what else am I forgetting… OH YES!! I wish you “everything” for your upcoming show!
I lava lava you, sweet Vanessa Beans!
Ah… The last minute push.. It will all come together and the stuff that isn’t meant to happen will fall away and never be misses..

Good Luck in the big big world, but with all your talent and zest for life you hardly need it.
That heart and hand piece, love it.
And your turnip, very cute, made me laugh as I am doing a lot of raw turnip farts just now!
Your logo looks so cute on the card. Yey you!!!
I’d like your blog wired straight into my dreams, then I could vist more often and my dreams would be more fanciful :0)
Love turnips and yours is great! Have some good fun at your show…want all of us to come???
Your girl looks like my girl. And your husband’s hair looks like my hair. Tell him to turn around next time…
I just love visiting your little world! I love everything you have created and I am not surprised in the least that people fight over all of it. I am really hoping you will get an etsy shop up soon, I want some too! Good luck in the wide world. I am sure the show will be fabulous, I would love to see it Oh! I vote for yellow cabinets too.
All looks just sweet and tasty! Love the little veggies, the jewels on the m.

You go girl….I so know what you are going through….been there so many times.
Don’t worry, I will not be putting up a new post until tomorrow on my blogs…perhaps even not even until Saturday…but I look forward to seeing you at my place/places when you catch your breath.
I love to see your activity here…very exciting.
I am inspired to write about curly hair…I will keep you posted 🙂
Well Miss Valencia, as long as you are wearing your pearls, everything will be a tremendous success! But where can I get my notecards if I don’t live near that lovely store? Take care, put your feet up, and eat bon bons for days after.
I wish we could all come to the show! Im sure its going to be great!! Love the vegetable & fruit paintings,so colourful! and your mannequin, she’s sultry!!
Mr Lovee has great hair, men with curls always do, I have very curly hair and its always a ball of fizz!!
Cant wait to get Country Living – its one of my favourites…we always get it a month later…Zzzz…have a FAB day Miss V!!
Wow! There is always so much going on in your world – I get to the end of the post, go to comment, and forget what you were talking about at the start….I think it was about how busy you are? Yes, that’s it! It certainly does look as though you’ve been busy, and I understand why people fight over your little produce paintings – they are so lovely and painterly!
I love your manequin – she’s a beauty! That wig does look nice. 🙂 And look at the boys hair – wow! Honestly, my boy has hair just like that – truly – it is long and curly – he gets these gorgeous ringlets that I like to stick my finger in and bounce around, hehe. I’m trying to convince him to get a ‘style’ cut (in other words, get *some* style in his hair, because it’s beautiful and would look really really hot if it was styled a little!) – he’s not convinced it’s such a good idea.
I’m loving all your illustrations of late too!
Vanessa, I can’t believe what you do and then put up such beautiful posts! Amazing. I love the veggies and the new logo very much. The mannequin (sp?) looks great! And, what a cute little dog friend. 🙂 Have a great day!
