Bursting out the front door, she set out to refill her cup with sun and clouds and summer day magic.
When all of a sudden, she realized she had neglected her duties… Oops.
How could she have neglected such duties? A wee child needs love and affection. Attention, and food, and and and…
Sooo, she set off, for a stroll in the garden. Down the dirt path she went…
Wee one in tow.
It was a glorious afternoon. Light bursts danced throughout the garden…
She cut herbs. Basil, Rosemary and Chinese Parsley grew abundantly in her garden…
She filled the pram, and squeezed baby toes…
They strolled and strolled, as a beautiful sunset rolled in. The furry family member walked alongside, almost as if proudly guarding the fairy babe…
She twirled and danced in the meadow… (what meadow?)
A perfectly enchanted day…
A lovely afternoon, don't you think? With a beautifully well behaved babe.
Cute as a button.
Poor little baby doll, locked up in an old trunk for years, by the evil witch who had lost her biological clock. Some said it stopped working, others said, she never had one (insert gasps). You've heard of her, haven't you? I knowwww, such a horrible witch she was 😉 Imagine? The nerve. Locking baby dolls in trunks…
But boy, oh boy, she sure did amuse the neighborhood bachelors with her antics…
Although, they best be careful, or she might turn them into toads! Bwahahaaa 😉
I think all her antics secretly amused her more than they amused the little bachelor spies. But then again, one almost broke his neck, trying to get a peek…
You never knew what you might see? A pump organ in the garden, a mannequin being carried like a sack of potatoes by a not so tall gal, water balloon fights, monster bubbles, a Mad Hatter – sans his trousers. What next? (don't worry the Mad Hatter was wearing shorts 😉
She rubbed her hands together quite mischievously, as a light bulb appeared beside her head, and thoughts of the looming Mad Tea Party fluttered around…
Oh, what ideas came to her on that stroll! The Mad Hatter joined her and the faux baby, for a walk down the road…
Where a couple set up a spot to sell their old treasures. And boy, were there ever treasures to carry home…
After that weekend, she found herself exhausted. She thought to herself, that people who have babies of the real variety, are truly magical fairies. Absolutely magical beings, no questions asked. They deserve buckets of gold and crowns bejeweled and free foot massages for life.
So, she felt guilty, rolling her plastic baby into the treasure shed. Instead she rolled her into her private boudoir. Where the well behaved plastic baby slept peacefully. And never cried a peep, while the Mad Hatter and the crazy lady with the pointy hat watched movies…
And that was that…
But you see, she wasn't so crazy after all, she just didn't see the point in taking life so darned seriously? She is ever so happy you don't either, and smiles brightly every time she sees your face sparkling up the road… 😉
On the work front – I am painting away, and yes, there are elves involved. I am just finishing up some special orders and the elves are coming super shortly thereafter.
🖤,V
ps: Movies I have seen over the last couple weeks. Of course, all evoked different emotions. Tonight I am watching 1,000 Journals and Au Revoir Les Enfants. I'l let you know what I think…
Water (deep and beautiful)
Gran Torino (who doesn't love that man? Mister enjoyed it so much)
Taken (edge of seat)
A Harlot's Progress (Intense subject dealing with the Painter, Hogarth, and his famous subject/pieces. Not for kids at all).
American Avant Garde Film 1947-1986 (2 discs). (Only recommended if you are into those types of films, read linked review)
The Uninvited (it was okay if you want a silly scary-ish flick)
The Last Days (terribly sad)
Evening (sad -great actors)
Identity (it was scary and I liked it)
Powder Blue (adult topics, good)
Passengers (I was surprised in the end, and liked it)
So, that's all for now ;) on the movie front.
pss: How shall I ever thank you for the Frida support? I can't even begin to tell you what it means to me. I can't even begin… 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤

A delightful tale and lovely, ethereal photographs, Miss Vanessa! I’m glad you brought the Well Behaved Baby inside. Maybe the Dark Haired Beauty will take care of her for you :~)
{Just popped in from Twitter :~)}
What a sweet tale Vanessa! I love that you love life so much. I can just imagine those taking a peek and thinking you were a bit odd. If I was passing by I would be thinking how much I wanted to join you!
You inspire me to be….well me. That has to be a good thing right?
Mad Hatter Tea Party preparations are in full force over here…the event of the century it shall be!..well until the next one.
Kiss Noises Linda
Oh sweet Baby! Going for a ride to the herb garden – loverly! Paint away, dear Vanessa! Shall I send a couple of Valley of the Sun fairies your way to help with the preparations for the tea party?? They are very good at throwing lights on the saguaros! hehe! : ))

Beautiful photos 🙂 I’m getting ready for the Mad Tea Party. Just put up my blog post! 🙂
You had me going there for a sec V, I thought you had a baby visitor of the real variety 😉 But yours is a real doll, tee hee! She’s way to cute to go in the treasure shed for sure, so glad you took her in and that she’s sleeping well for you!
Oooo, new elves…oh me oh my, I’m doin’ the jig in my seat now…and the tea party, ooo la la! I have so much going on the 27th…I keep telling people to leave me alone, I have Mad tea partying to do, hahah…they look at me like I’m crazy (but yeah, why take life so seriously I say). Off to do some shoppe stuff but before I go Brownie wanted me to say hi from her 😉
Jamie 🙂
You make me smile from the inside out while reading your stories. Fantasy is a beautiful place, we should all go everyday, to smile, to laugh, to remember not to be so serious. Thanks for the reminder 😉
Hugs, Ashlyn
Foot rubs for life you say? Hmmm… have to tell my mister about that one 😉 Great story, amazing pics as usual!!
Oh Magical little Gypsy, how I love the life you are building. You breathe new life into everything around you; perhaps that is why you have no biological clock…you are busy giving birth to new life every day for all around you to enjoy and be inspired by. No wonder you need a QUIET little one! You fill me with joy. LOVE the birdcage…can’t wait to see what you do with it. Alas, my tea party has taken a wicked little spin… **blows kisses** Deborah
Is that treasure from down the road what I think it is? No wonder you wanted it to be a surprise here………OMG, I am swooning!
Funny how things work out….I did get THE gene AND the biological clock but unfortunately the clock maker wasn’t so good and it never worked right. At least in the end a doll is much easier because they don’t become teenagers. (at least that’s what I tell myself). HA! I love that pram!
XOXOXOXOXO
I wish my babies had been so well behaved when they were wee enough to be wheeled in a pram in an enchanted garden, for that is surely what you have there my dear! So many movies! I cannot recall the last one I watched…oh, wait, I think it was the Secret Life of Bees. Not much time for that I am afraid, But I love hearing about all the movies I am too busy for and have never heard of…someday I will need to come and compile a list from your recommendations. I have a funny image of Mister in his shorts cavorting through the trees with his Mad Hatter hat on and his stripe-y socks! Too funny! You BOTH make me laugh! Enjoy the day, Miss V!
xox
Erin
I completely forgot about the foot massages for life…yes, yes and more yes! (Truthfully, I never really got many when I was carrying the real things in my tummy, so now would be a good time to make up for that little oversight!)
Enjoy the day.

I never thought of my self as a magical fairy. But I often saw the magic in my babies….and sometimes when I crept into their rooms to check on them while they slept, I would catch sight of a small fairy as it took flight for the window and off into the night. And on those enchanted nights, their room would smell sweet of honeysuckle and peonies.
I hope your weekend has been beautiful….
That baby bonnet is absolutely GORGEOUS! 🙂
Thanks for continuing my daydreaming weekend:) with your lovely post…
Hugs,
kayellen
BTW…very cool portrait painting Miss V!!!!on your last post:)
PLASTIC BABIES!!!!! THEY’RE SCARRY TOO!!!!! But I simply adore your pram “lady without a clock.” Mine was lost somewhere between 30 and 30 and a half. Never did find it!!! Maybe mine ran away with yours ;-0! To live with the faeries no doubt, for who wants to grow up or grow old? Not I!!
xoxo Cori
Your babe has freaky eyes. Dolls like that scare me. Sorry, they do.
P.S. I went to the movies with Lue today and there were plenty of crying babies everywhere. Then, when we left, there was a 2 year-old boy throwing a fit and his mom just left him on the floor, crying. I am so glad you haven’t had kids….I don’t want any, either!!! I threw my clock away!!!
Elves!!! I look forward to them!!
I recently watched “Revolutionary Road” and thought it would be sooo good – I really like Kate Winslet – but I found it incredibly boring and depressing.
wow Vanessa! another wondeful post. I’m always filled with awe when I visit you!
have an enchanted week. something tells me you will!

Dearest V to the V-eest
Of course its all loverly (oh! to the pictures and ah! to the sentiments); of course the movies you mention that i/we have seen i/we also adored (you know Cowboy digs those Eastwood flicks); and the beautiful stroll, so peaceful, all very nice yes, yes,….
but you know which line has me going today, right?
“On the work front – I am painting away, and yes, there are elves involved. I am just finishing up some special orders and the elves are coming super shortly thereafter.”
WOOOHOOOOO! I’ll trade in all my foot massages for an owling uber sooner than soon! I think i just did a mental cartwheel and quadruple backflips! YAY!!!
My morning cup of tea has gone cold…my English muffin is waiting in the toaster. In the meantime I am in the meadow with you and the baby…magical.
I read every movie review and visited your blogger friends sites.
A visit to your land takes a good hour or more …I am not complaining…no, no I am just telling how it is 😉
OH this post is all morning sunlight and beautiful visions!! I feel like I’ve had two early morning rays of magical light today…..SO lovely!! Thank You for the bright, and glorious delicateness!! 🙂

Oh V~
I love this post. Such great pictures!! And the baby doll….soooo adorable 🙂 I just love love love babies, especially my own even though they are 7 and 4 years old and haven’t been babies in a while (sigh)
Have a lovely week Miss V!!
Kylee
p.s. I watched Amelie over the weekend (I can’t believe I never watched it before yesterday) I loved it!!
And Gran Torino is an awesome movie…I cried way too much!! I’m going to jot down all of your recommendations…so many movies to see 🙂
Au Revoir!!!!!!!!!!
Oooooh……what a sweet Faux Baby. Sometimes, those might be a welcome switch from the real-life slightly fragrant and very vocal variety. Goodness, Miss Baby has such well-developed lungs!
That carriage made me swoon. Hang on to that sucker….you never know. If nothing else, you can always give puppies and maybe orphaned baby rabbits a nice ride.
You watch so many movies! How fun. I have a stack of lovely Red Netflix envelopes just waiting for me, but I have been neglecting them. Don’t they feel like getting a Valentine in the mailbox?
Another beautiful post! Can’t wait to see the elves…and I’m soooooooo looking forward to the Mad Tea Party!
~ Carolee
I love the faerie kissed quality of your pictures. I’m sure your neighbors get a eyeful over at your place. I’m sure they wish they can have as much fun as you.
I had a dream about Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.(Which I know he’s filming the movie now.) I was Alice. We were running around to different rooms and drinking tea. He kept giving me those deep looks with his eyes. What a dream. Just wanted to share.
Glad you got such love on your Frida painting. It is extraordinary.
miss vanessa…one has to get up extremely early to get in a first comment, i see. i love your blog. when i first stumbled upon it, i said to my child-like self: this girl lives in MY world and i haven’t even met her there yet!!! whenever you post a new blog, it’s like a day at the carnival… i laugh, i smile, i dream… i adore you. thank you for all the loveliness you bring to those of us who read you…
Babies, oh babies! Elf-baby is two months old now and very demanding. (He doesn’t cry so much as yell.) I think back and wonder exactly I was doing with all my time…surely I could have cured cancer or something.
I love your photos, the atmosphere is very dreamy. Good luck with your fairy babe 😉
I want to live in your photographs! Enchanting! Thanks for the constant inspiration.
Just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your story and beautiful photographs. I felt drawn into a little fairytale. Thank you!
What a Magickal time… I couldn’t stop reading your enchantment and was sorry to see it’s end.
Wowza…i always feel like i’ve taken a magical mini journey while viewing your blog.
I know, I know, i’ve been a naughty lady for not visiting sooner but i was ill and totally not into the puter for some time. But i’m back and feeling myself again. I just spent a long time looking through your blog to see what i missed! Phew…alot!! I’m so behind on my blogging, but have just posted something finally.
Here’s to a wonderful summer for you Miss V and your Lovee too!
You are so much fun, Vanessa!
One of my friends and I took off to an awesome doll auction in La Grande, CA on Sunday. You mentioning your sweet plastic dolly made me think that I should tell you about the 500 bisque,French, German, etc. etc. doll lots that were up for bid. It was wonderful! One Jumeau doll went for an astounding $10,000! She had the most beautiful face on a doll I have ever seen, soooo sweet! I only came home with a handful of porcelain half/dolls. But it was still fun. They are going to have another doll auction in November and they do take on-line bids. It is Hewletts auctions in La Grande, CA. Save their name for future reference. Cheers! Teresa in CA
another amazing post – this is so lovely – and fun!
It’s great to be described as a magical fairy instead of a nut case after bringing up 5 kids 🙂
Thank You
Yup, I agree with Miss Somepinkflowers… your plastic baby was probably grateful for the long nap in her trunk. She came out looking all refreshed, right?
You are such fun – with your mind going to all those different places, however do you find the time to Create??
Me, I’d be stuck in fantasy land, where it looks like so much fun.
🙂
Hugs,
Kate
I FEEL!!!! like I have a real baby…right NOW, little Olive, wearing me out!!
how..how do find time to watch all these wonderful films AND paint AND live your fanciful life
well, you do it all well!
x..x
s
p.s.
we watched sketches of Frank Gehry last night..very good
What a sweet face the little baby has and sweeter still that she was rescued from the trunk 🙂
Magical story from a magical girl~
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
I had one baby and I have several faux babies!! You have seen them here and there on my blog! They are precious little ones and are always looking for some tender loving care. Give yours a hug from me too!!

i could smell those herbs from all the way over here…
oh, and some great movies on that list – identity is one of my all time faves.
sooooooo creepy.
One of my favorite posts I have ever read!!! This is a treat! Blessings.
What a lovely babe…I actually feel a bit sad if I think of the few little animals I have locked away in trunks…the sock monkeys are all out, but the other ones? Waiting I suppose. They don’t ever complain, but I know they’re there…
I think blogging is an art and your’s is really beautifully done, it takes me to another world, thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Misty
Everytime I read this post, all I can think of is that I’m a magical fairie! Thanks for that, Vanessa. Twyla
Thank goodness you set the baby free!!!! Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!! 🙂
Oh Water was such a good film…sad but good. You would like AMAL too.
Let us know about those other two!
How was the Hogarth one???
Looking forward to visiting the Mad Tea Party….yay! You throw the best parties. xoxo
Yes, Vanessa I agree with you…I deserve buckets of gold and eternal foot massages, haha! I love what your sister wrote, sounds like something my daughter would say 🙂 Loved your beautiful pictures…again!
Ethereal, dreamy and even a wee bit funny. I’m so glad I stopped by to read this post. I needed to be uplifted!
