2 bits of happiness…

Of course, there are more than two bits of happiness in my life.  It's just that a girl has to be able to have a breakdown every once in a while.  I think coming out of a fit, makes everything look rosier!  I opened my eyes wide, and voila,  I saw the light!

My prints are looking great, finally.  I got a glossier paper for some of my images (not the girls, but, others I am keeping secret) which I normally am hesitant about.  But, I realized, the oils were so glossy, it was impossible to get a good print on matte paper. So, that is good news.  Things are almost done being scanned. You know what that means! Woo Hoo!!! Time for a little Party!!!

And, something that will make you girls faint!!! Well, it made me faint anyways…I woke up, went for a walk around the yard…And much to my surprise??? The guy to the west, the evil investor who put up six foot fencing with plastic strips to block any view to the west, remember that? Well, he has guys out there takin' it down!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT????????  I ran over to the fence and called one of the workers over.  I said, what is going on?(In Espanol, thank God I can speak it, it comes in really handy) And he said the investor got a lot of negative response from the neighbors all around + his wife hated it!!!!  Ahemmmm, I am sure it was only the wife's veto that got it taken down.  Well, Partially taken down. He will leave the chain link but no inserts. Well, by golly, I can live with that!!!

And then, like a brick hitting me. I thought, this is funny!!! The way it all works out.  Why do I let things irk me??? As I stood there, I realized…All the creatures are in bloom!!!  And, if you look closely at the pic above, you can see all of the plastic slats they removed piled on the ground.

Is it wrong to spy? The news gets better!!!The neighbor is also having his guys dig holes.  Does that mean trees? Well, wonder no more!!!!!! Look at this….Zoom lense comes into use!!!

Looks like trees or shrubs to me!! Yippee!!!!!  Things are looking bright and shiny.  We are taking some time to smell the flowers…And, thanking you for all the wonderfulness you sent my way yesterday!!!

  3. cruststation says:

Vanessa, I am glad things turned out alright, miracles can happen Yay! 🙂 How impossible it might have seem for that fence to be taken down, yet it has-three cheers for the wife, even better that they are planting trees! {happiness all around} You are definitely ‘in’ for the project, no escaping now 😛 Good luck on the deadlines.

  4. Marilyn says:

    Hooray for disgruntled wife!!!

  5. Mo'a says:

Well I was about to come over to join you on the lime pile…I feel like a chicken with her head cut off…..running here and there, waisting a lot of time when I should be working.
However, like you I woke up happy this morning…..opened an e-mail and bang annother commission 🙂
Hooray for the disguntled wife indeed…hooray for you having your view back.
    Wow!!!you are one lucky girl/woman 🙂
You do know that we make our own luck…..you probably do by being so perky, happy and complimentary…I bet you are a good friend also.

  6. You are the sweetest you know that??? somebody living next to you must have seen it too.bless him for that (and for taking that freakin fence down)xoxo

  7. Well holey hooplah! I bet neighborman got wind of the buzz around blogland about the girls who were ganna come beat him up cuz his ugly fence made miss Fancypants cry!!! Heh heh! Ya think?
The sun is beaming on you today girly 🙂 I love to hear the glow in your posts 🙂 And shoot, I’m dyin’ to see your store!!!! Hey, can I sell popcorn balls and pickles at the door?
“you remind me of a babe…”

  8. Sonya says:

What is the yiddish word verklempt? Sometimes you just need to take it there and then you see that – wow things aren’t all that bad. Or, even better that the universe kicks in and axis shift. I am sounding very hippy-jewish, which I am neither, but a girl can borrow can’t she? I love that painting that was gifted to you – much reason to keel over!

  9. risa says:

since sonya mentioned yiddish i need to teach you a word that i think is so very you, although it has nothing at all to do with this post. it is, in my opinion, the bested yiddish word ever. and there are a lot of yiddish words…ongapatchka!!! (pronounce un-guh-pahtch-ka) it means over the top and is usually used to describe things that are garrish, tons of bling bling, kind of tacky…but we like to think of this all as being a good thing, and i know you agree.
i can’t wait to see your prints!

  10. Gina says:

Glad some happiness is coming your way! Spring can sure cheer a gal up and sounds like your neighbor maybe helping that out a little with all those trees.

  11. sadira says:

Oh yes…isn’t life wonderful that way? I think trees are such a better alternative to ugly fences…my mother, for instance is retalliating with massive tree planting on her border to block out the ugly neighbors who come up from the Valley every once in a while, just to hack up all the lovely trees and plants they have growing on thier property…they even once came into her yard and started on her stuff. I told her to shoot them.
    She did not.
Yay for spring (and Mercury finally going direct and helping out in the astrology world as well) Now you can use all those limes to make limeade instead of tequila shots…

  12. Jennifer says:

Wow! Great that the neighbor is making the fence a bit easier to live with. Chain link isn’t the worst thing in the world, maybe plant things near it to help soften it up.
    Great art today!

  13. giggles says:

Thanks goodness for a smart wife!!! Love your wide eyed girl! I love tequila and plain bagels too!! Looking forward to all your art to come!!
    Hugs Giggles

  14. MissMeshell says:

Hey girl! Ooooh so great that you are doing the house project too! You’re going to make the most amazing craft room in the world! I’m doing an attic bedroom – also known as my dream room, wheeee! =) Can’t wait to see this house. xx

  15. kazzy says:

    i have a spring in my step…
your art miss fanciful is just beautiful,
stunning, bright and fabulous as always.
you have such grand ideas, a mind of wonder and beauty…
Hopefully with tree’s around things will brighten up and nature will appear…
sometimes a little wishing does some working!
and thats why them little holeee’s appeared.
like little fairies with magic dust and sprinkling a little wish here and there…
besides from that photo u took they need some shrubs and plants and beauty as it looked so barron and bare…
    spring is beautiful miss fanciful,
little buds of light and colour…little bumble’s and butterflies of sweetness, a mixture for happiness and love,
    x x x kazzy x x x

  16. QueenieCarly says:

Well, I guess I’ve missed a few events over here. I have had no time online lately and it just dawned on me at work this afternoon, “Man, I miss hearing from and reading about that Vanessa’s wonderful inspiration!” So I put it on my list of things to do tonight, to come by and let you know I’ve been thinking of you. What a great post to find here. I just love your girls! They are all so beautiful and bright and enjoyable to look at. I’ll have to scroll down to read more, but I’m happy that you’re happy.

  17. Anastasia says:

well I guess we know who wears the pants in your neighbours home…just kidding!! wonderful news and the shrubs will grow to be a beautiful fence…so happy for you sweet!!
    The prints look FAB!!!

  18. sarah says:

Isn’t it amazing how things often work themselves out?! I’m glad your neighbour saw the error of his ways!

  19. Gillian says:

Oh that is wonderful news!!! And there is nothing more beautiful than trees I think. Yaay for the open views!!! So is it open – should I dare ring the etsy door bel to Vanessa’s pad or will I be sneaky and just have a peek through the letter box, maybe I shall just see a pile of moving in boxes of beautiful and wonderful suprises just waiting to be put on the store shelves and hung on the walls. That’s it I am off to see!!! xx

  20. I am literally chomping at the bit to see the etsy shop, I am so happy for you!!
Spring is in the air I can feel it, it was 76 degrees yesterday, which meant it was time for the first ice cream of the season.
    hooray!!

  21. Allyson Hill says:

Ugh that fencing should ONLY be allowed around pools, I can’t believe he put a long line of that between your yards.

  22. michelle says:

It must have been all the grumpiness we were all sending his way! Just goes to show don’t mess with a girl and her girls! So excited for your opening any word on a day, I am going out of town this weekend and now I am terrified it will be while I am gone. Hey Tiff is still giving stuff away all week at loveboxes and she has one of my dolls today. I would love her to come make friends with your pirate girl! Enjoy that spring day it is gorgeous!

  23. tiffany says:

Not only are you seeing the light Vanessa, your neighbor has seen that light as well. It’s a miracle!!!! Hooray! Hooray! An artist must have a beautiful view… truly it’s a rule!

  24. DeeLight says:

Thanks goodnes for women!!! What was that crazy man thinking!!! I’m glad things are working out.

  25. I will share my own fence angst story with you one day,but believe me,I know it is reason to rejoice!Love those girls of yours!

  26. sulu-design says:

They say good fences make good neighbors… and shrubs make much better fences than ones made of plastic strips! So perhaps this is a sign about a friendship waiting to blossom (at least with the wife, who has some sense in her head).

  27. Alden says:

Everytime I wear my beautiful hand made necklace that was created my Vanessa, people always comment how much they love it!

  28. Wow, your web-log is wonderful! I love your drawings, I actually recognize myself in it with all the girly little hearts and ribbons… And the blond hair! I’m very happy with this lovely shining sun here, now my fake red colour gets a chance to turn into my own, light blond coupe again. Let the sun shine!:D

  29. Que pasa mi amiga? Maybe calabasas after the trees, huh? I’m learning! No telling whats gonna come out of my mouth!

  30. Felicia says:

Isn’t it wonderful when things work out for the best? Sometimes it seems so rare that we forget it can happen.

  31. Your last pic is just absolutely gorge. And I am so very happy that the is taking the wall down. A view. A life with a view is so very important:-)

  32. bitter betty says:

I hope the trees grow large and that your neighbor consults the wife Before any additional projects are embarked upon!

  33. cally says:

Wow so much goodness. I’m really really especially happy about the fence going and the trees coming, because it was out of your hands and yet has still had an ultimately good outcome. WHat a relief I bet.
Not done my big catch up on your posts yet, have had extra dog duties as co-owner on an away day thing, but I’ve got he pages sitting waiting for spare moments. There will be no TV tonight when I eat, just your blog, and a few others.

  34. Meg says:

I’m sorry you were worried!! I’m alive!! And have so much reading to catch up on… but a lovely post to come back to 🙂

  35. Paris Parfait says:

Hooray for the wall coming down! Nothing like a view to brighten one’s spirits, especially a view with trees! xo

  36. Tricia says:

is’nt it nice when things go your way, when days before things were’nt so great… it’s the ying yang… or is it yin yan, i forget -haha. Yesterday, i walked in the rain in Toronto and was in a yucky mood all day…and today i wake up and the sun is shining and i feel great again!

  37. Shell says:

Oh my goodness, there is so much creativity and beauty going on in this blog of late – I’ve had a lot of catching up to do thismorning!!!
I’m glad that your neighbour took the fence down , and that you have your view back. And planting trees is wonderful! Great to see that he’s a nature lover. 🙂

Hello darling Vanessa! That is such wonderful news! I just love shrubberies 🙂 Not only will the trees be so much pretteir than that yucky fence, but they also attract more pretty little friends to live in your gardens, just more happiness waiting to happen!
