Wonderland of Living Things…

There's something wonderful going on out there.

Spring colors 10

I actually swooned when I saw this tender white poppy unfurling.

Oh bliss!

Spring colors 14

The promise of everything lives in growing things, wouldn't you say?

Spring colors 7

So inspiring.

And so exciting to see hints of spring.

The snapdragons, stock flowers, poppies and petunias have thrived in the cold.

Good to know.

It's been very chilly at night.

Case in point.

Spring colors 5

Roses frozen in the birdbath.

Spring colors 2

What a happy accident.

Spring colors 3

One day they were floating in there.

The next frozen.

I have the Gene Boerner rose bushes to thank for endless roses, with even a few in winter.

Spring colors 1

Petals in ice are oh so pretty.

Or should I say, nice?

Spring colors 4

It's lovely to see flowers doing well.

Bobbing around in the breeze.

So good for the soul.

Spring colors 6

The colors make we want to swirl fuchsia paint around all day.

Spring colors 13

The crows are still here, chattering away all day, I love them.

And of course the cardinals, beloveds.

Spring colors 8

I see other poppy buds forming here and there.

Spring colors 11

I simply can not wait.

Spring colors 15

Yes, I know, I did over-photograph this one white poppy.

Spring colors 9

Almost to the point of being annoying.

But it is just so new and fresh.

Perfect ruffled petals.

Spring colors 16

And then of course, no one can escape the magic of golden hour.

Spring colors 12

I am enchanted.

Transported.

Inspired.

In love…

With growing things.

But then, you might have guessed that already.

It's just that, no matter what your day is like, the garden gives you a sanctuary.

A happy place.

Where hope thrives.

Ah, such lovely things.

I know I'm so sappy, aren't I?

We're about to have a little heat wave here.

It's been chilly and lovely, we'll see how warmer days feel.

I'm not entirely ready, but the garden will love it.

So, there's a positive trade off.

I had a houseguest and lots of adventures.

Which is why I wasn't here sooner.

We had a ball, the river in the state park has been sublime.

The dogs loved it.

Picnics and sunshine and cardigans and beautiful life.

Such lovely days there have been.

I'll leave you for now with…

A sonic journey into the Wonderful of Living Things…

See you soon!

Love, Vanessa

I really needed to see this beautiful blog entry, especially the roses frozen in your bird-bath. Magical, as always and moves me on a soul level.

My favorite blog, hands down. The garden always inspires hope in my soul. Something to look forward to, something to dream about. You put all those thoughts and feelings into words and images. You have many kindred spirits, dear.

It’s so magical seeing all of the garden life in February! Not so much by me. It has been unseasonably warm this winter but we did get a few inches of snow yesterday & it’s sooo pretty! I kind of missed the snow. We haven’t had much this year. It was the second cloudiest, gloomiest January so the snow brightens everything up! We had wind chills around 0 this morning but now it’s supposed to get back into the 40s & 50s again. Normal now should be 30s. I can’t wait to get into the garden again & have flowers blooming all around & birds chirping. It always amazes me how different the weather is around the country this time of year! The people out east are getting socked with snow again. Your beautiful pictures keep us colder climate people going. It’s a light at the end of the tunnel (or winter). We will have that soon! Thank you for sharing that with us! :0)

Hey, you can bring the outdoors in! I just saw a fuchsia colored velvet chair for sale at Cost Plus World Market.
I just looked at it online. It matches your pretty flowers! :0)

You sappy, never, you just love things. I love things that are growing and blooming. Every day I look at the plants to see how much they have grown and if they have buds yet. We had daffodils blooming last month. Gibbs Gardens is opening early this year because their daffodils are already blooming. I think we will have to take a trip there soon.
I LOVE the pictures of the roses in ice.

Beautiful words and pics as usual Dear Vanessa

Nothing wrong with being sappy — just ask a tree! BWAHAHA! But it’s true, nature is a glorious thing and true love, because it changes and we know it will change and we embrace it anyway. <3 We celebrate the moments we are in - cool breezes, summer rains, icy cold -- and anticipate coming seasons. I cant imagine how different life would feel if there wasn't this wondrous ever-transforming landscape outside of my window. Can you imagine living on Mars? It would kinda be sad....I guess you could grow trees and gardens under a sky dome, but still....roaming free in wide open spaces, telling secrets to trees and cloud and sky......dreamy.
I guess I have never seen a frozen rose before -- delightful!!!

Your poppies are so pretty! I’m not sure I can grow those here. Hmmmm…maybe I’ll try in the Fall this year. xo Jen
