Welcome Magical Autumn

I woke up this morning, groggily opened the door, and felt it immediately…

Welcome autumn magic 10

The tinge of cool swirling in the warm breeze.

Bliss.

Memories.

I whispered, I know you.

I threw on my shoes and Matty and I headed out to the garden.

There were butterflies swirling around madly, all colors.

New ones had arrived overnight, big white butterflies, and canary yellow ones too.

I decided I would pick some pumpkins, to celebrate the day.

Welcome autumn magic 2

A couple Fairytale pumpkins and a Jack-o-lantern.

Welcome autumn magic 6

I didn't bring in Mister Big yet, but I did bring in his younger brother, and a sister.

Several more to come <3

Welcome autumn magic 3

I pruned zinnias, and took a few spent ones.

Welcome autumn magic 7

I plop other ones right back into the earth, as they will self seed next year.

My happy collection for the first day of autumn makes me so content.

Full heart.

Welcome autumn magic 1

Thank you pumpkins.

Welcome autumn magic 8

They have gotten me through many summers, but have meant even more these last two summers.

I needed them so much, while the world has its odd goings on, they are here like everything is good – just as it should be.

They make everything better all the time.

Hope, love, memories.

Welcome autumn magic 11

Good-bye summer 2021.

I will miss you.

Strange but true.

Welcome autumn magic 9

Autumn of my heart.

So happy to see you.

I know you so well, you always bring a sense of wonder and joyful memories – on the tail of a breeze that dances between warm and cool.

Another chapter of summers closing, turning the page.

The garden, still full of all it brought us, as we venture into our spring-like autumn.

Where pumpkin everything makes everyone delighted.

This should really be an ode to the pumpkin –

The pumpkin that somehow hugs everyone.

Sort of saying, it's all going to be okay.

A message from the pumpkin king, that we eagerly embrace wholeheartedly.

It's almost universal.

Pumpkin spice should be the secret code word.

It holds so many joys tucked deep inside of us.

A wealth of memories thriving in a flavor and a scent.

My gratitude for the pumpkins that grew in my garden this year, and those of year's past, is immeasurable.

Pumpkin LOVE abounds!

Happy first day of Autumn dear friends!

And Happy Spring to those of you on the other side of the globe.

Seasonal magic is upon us!

Lots of love.

Magic, wishes. and stars forever!

See you super soon,

Love, Vanessa

Here is some beautiful autumnal music for your day <3

Happiest of Autumnal Equinoxes to you, Dear Veevalala! I agree and am giddy over here in North FL as we are expecting a “cold front” to move in – which for now means lows in the low 60s and highs in the low 80s. We take our magic where we can get it dontchya know 😉
But oolalala the Pumpkin King – I am so excited about all of the things that he brings. I feel like reading Sherlock Holmes and HP Lovecraft and watching scary things and baking all of the breads and dragging out the slow cooker for the stews and soups hoorah hoorah!!!
Big smooshy lovesicles to you and yours. xoxov11w35ht89kvivivixoxoxo

  2. Sarah says:

Your great love of pumpkins has always brought me joy, and the longer I follow you the more joy it brings. We grow a LOT of pumpkins where I live, the town just down the road I believe has a pumpkin festival and claims to be the pumpkin capital of the world (I’m sure a lot of places claim that, and really, wherever there’s a pumpkin there’s a pumpkin capital, right?) and we do really have a lot of pumpkins all over the place. I’m going to go to the small, neighborhood pumpkin farm in just a few more days, and collect pumpkins for my fall sidewalk display. The neighborhood grocery has HUGE boxes of pumpkins sitting out front, priced right for pumpkin joy. Suddenly it’s cool in the morning and not too hot even in the afternoon. The light has changed it’s angle. It’s fall.
Normally, fall is my favorite season. It’s always too hot in the summer, for too long, and here it’s too humid, so normally I love the fall. This year, for some reason, I’m not as excited about fall. I think about how long and dark the winter is here, and I’m just not sure I want to face it just yet. But then I think about steaming beverages, and cozy bundles of clothes, and sitting by the fire reading ghost stories….and I’m ok with it again.
I’m going to go plant some fritilaries now (those ones that come up with checked flowers in the spring!), and enjoy the fact that I’m not dying of heat stroke!

  3. Debi Livsey says:

Pumpkin Spice is those of us wink wink, special code for Season of Magic.
I hope your Dad is healing nicely, and Fall is the best scent of All!
Im glad I shopped your shop early, but there is always next year to be prepared for!
Fairy lights are brighter longer now! Yippy!

  4. Marilyn says:

Absolutely adore your pumpkins and zinnias. What treats for the eyes.
I didn’t know I could stick the zinnia heads back in the ground to grow next year.

  5. Happy Autumn dearest Rooooostah <3 The weather is delicious here too. It makes me too giddy for words!! Sending big hugs from me and Matty xoxoxixxi 😉

  6. I get what you mean Sarah, it’s almost like we need everything to keep us close to the light and warmth this year. And while we love fall, any idea of being away from the light, just doesn’t really feel right. At least, that is how I feel. I love it here in the land of sun, so I welcome dreary days and find them wonderful. But not too many please, because I am just like a moth myself. YAY for pumpkins everywhere! I love growing mine, but Mister Lovee just told me he’d pick me up some of the weirder ones as extras – which is music to my ears!! <3

  7. Thank you Debi, my dad is doing well and I hope he continues to do so. Fairy light and pumpkin spice, music to my ears! hee hee. Funny enough, to me pumpkin spice is my own homemade concoction because I get quite nauseous from the fake pumpkin scent that some candles have, isn’t that funny? Gosh, I’m so darn fickle sometimes, tee heee <3

  8. Thank you Marilyn. Well, I just sort of pull them apart a little and drop them right back into the garden beds. They almost always self-seed quite easily. In fact, if it’s still too warm when I do that, they will start growing immediately. Plotting an planning for the seasons to come is a constant in the garden, perhaps that’s why it’s such a place of hope <3
