Just like that, it's autumn.
Funny how that happens isn't it?
The light shifted, the air got cooler.
Golden autumn light burst through.
Yep, it's happening alright.
It seems to come too fast.
And yet, I'm overjoyed it's here.
There are a few autumn flowers popping in.
I love how the garden reawakens.
Intense lovely tones.
Roses blooming.
Darker afternoons as cosmos always always bob around until the first freeze.
The dahlias seem to be scurrying around to gift more petals.
The scene out of the corner of my eye turns to sepia orbs of light.
Autumn sun trickles down dangling tree branches.
Gourds climb away.
Wonderful things.
I sneak in a snap of my sweet ornery Brownie.
Then Miley comes in and plunks down.
They're so much more playful in the cool.
I run outside to catch the last rays.
Welcome autumn.
Love this season.
Love all seasons, but after a long hot summer, this season really does wonders.
Twinkly lights on.
Sleeping in a little later, yes.
Collecting pumpkins here and there, for sure.
Enjoying the air.
Most certainly.
Buy-bye oven air.
Hello autumn joy.
It'll still be summery for a long while, but mornings and evenings are Arizona autumn.
And, I love it.
What kind of air did you taste on this lovely first day of autumn in your neck of the woods?
Love, V

Spectacular photo of last rays of sunlight! The sepia/golden tones are definitely of fairie evening lights. That photo is a masterpiece!
I do declare, it appears you have some of those volunteer green plants which soar up six to eight feet high and there is no way to get them out of one’s yard except with a chain saw. At least they provide more oxygen for the environment. We have about six of those leafy, wide and tall plants in our backyard, and front yard too, for that matter.
Your furry boys are handsome as ever!
XO
I am loving our fall weather too. It was still hot today 95, but our nights and mornings have cooled down considerably.
Miss Teresa
=^..^=
I always love to see what you do with your home in autumn. The light in these pictures is amazing, and that pumpkin made me smile.
The myth of fall is like a magical land that everyone has visited and assures you that it’s around the corner. You keep walking to “Promise Land”, but never actually arrive until January or mid February. Hahahaha! Fall season is the time of the year that I truly miss and a downside of living in Florida. I’m going to have to roadtrip somewhere in Georgia so I can go climbing the waterfalls and see the leaves change.
Last night I bought more Halloween goodies and spied the most HUGE pumpkin ever. It was real, too! Squee! I’m tempted to go get it but the thing is as wide as a kitchen chair.
We’ve had such cool mornings that I’ve been able to start walking. Just a little ways (about a mile) but it’s a start! I’ve had some lovely sunsets but I can’t seem to get the photos to do them justice. Your photos are amazing as always! I went to two farmers markets yesterday and got pumpkins! You know I had to do it. 🙂

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles!
pps…i was wondering if there will be Halloween parties this year? I missed last years and am hoping to participate again. xo
Such lovely photos!! I love your little cottage and fur babies.
“Autumn sun trickles down dangling tree branches.” Sigh. Beautiful.
My air? It’s finally cool. It’s been a hot hot summer, even here in what’s supposed to be temperate western Oregon. Rain, it smells like the possibility of rain. And still that end of summer scent of grasses and gardens drying, going to seed. Grapes heavy on the vine. I need to figure out what to do (not wine, too complicated!) with a bumper crop of grapes! Last night I welcomed autumn in with wine though, red wine, good friends, music, and the scent, and crackle and pop, of a mabon bonfire.
Oh Yes I love it too and I love Your photos,You have the “Touch”.The cool breezes have just started coming through Southern Ca. even though the temps are still very high most of the time. I would love for You to visit My Fall blog post. hugs and blessings Denise
Autumn air as the season turned was misty here with a puff of mushroom in the air. A cup of tea at the door into my garden started the day and my arms are wide open to the most magical of seasons.
Beautiful pics x
I wasn’t as ready for autumn this year because we didn’t really have summer! I usually slip into the mood really easily, but part of me is still wanting blue skies and warm weather. I feel as if I’ve gone to sleep in spring and woken up in autumn! Sort of feels strange.
I don’t know why I rarely comment on your blog. I check it almost daily for your next magical post. I guess this post seems special, because fall does bring such a dramatic change. Especially to those of us living in the north! Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. They always portray a sense of hope and wonder, even when we know our world will soon turn gray. (Who invented Michigan anyway?!) 🙂
It’s always so magical to visit your blog and I can’t wait to see everything in a few weeks when Halloween starts sneaking in!!!
Persimmons and dragon fruit,
Autumns musing horns a toot.
Winds blowing open gates,
Singing rymes with the mates.
Travel far across the sea,
Just in time for crumpets and tea.
Two friends, comet & twinkle,
Cosmic stars in the wrinkle.
Dreaming with Celtic Wonder Tales,
Cursive writing, singing scales.
Moments dancing makeup stairs,
Flare and sass Autumn hair.
Ringing round the blue hue,
Little allergies a-choo.
Pizza this, and pizza that,
Gazing a sunset flying bat.
Pomegranate, quince days,
Apple cider has its ways.
Your gift of Autumn has the touch,
Ringing awake magic stuff.
Singing on bows of sunlight clear,
Tickles of the season is dear.
Thank you, Autumn Queen V.V.
Pumpkin pies and cheers to thee.
Flying in the autumn mist,
Scrolls rolling, unfurling twist.
At sunrise the white bird flies,
Adeiu to you across the sky.
Your G.G. Pinksterita friend,
Curving around the Autumn’s bend.
Autumn did attend as it turned a different feel in the air. A bit of crispness in the days and evenings. The sun casting different light and shadows. Just beautiful. Pumpkins from the garden being picked. Yes, I also am welcoming Autumn’s delights.
Beautirful.
The leaves are starting to turn, mornings are cooler (some mornings this morning it was 81 when we went to church), and my flowers look better with the cooler temps and rain.
I made pumpkin bars yesterday. Yep, pumpkin season is here.
I spell relief F.A.L.L. because it is such a breath of fresh air. Every morning, driving my last one to school, I think of the song September Morn. There is something amazing about September mornings…the dawn, the smoke from tobacco barns (here) with some dew and mist mingled in is so magical. It isn’t this month that the afternoons cool off, no sir… that part is yet to come.
Happy October! Your garden is even more lovely in autumn, Vanessa. I’m bringing out the pumpkins tomorrow. We’re ready!
I just love fall….growing up in CT it was the most beautiful sight, watching all the leaves change colors….I just loved it!!!!
Weather here is as changeable as the hour. Clouds dancing daily to keep the weather’s secret how each day will unfold.
Spectacular pictures as always! Feeling a great party again :DD See you soon on 24th Oct, hugs. Monika.
