Hello, from our little world to yours. I hope you are doing lovely today. The sun is shining, and I planted some seeds and gardened a bit, as spring looms somewhere out there….
I am quite enjoying a book from my sis, whilst sipping a warm treat..
However, before I get carried away with the details of this book, I am so excited to share some new prints.
(I love the art scanning place I take my work to, they are amazing. The lad who takes care of my work is wonderful)
I share prints of my work after the original has sold, and so,
I just popped these
Flora, The Gypsy Girl.
(As a side note, I list my canvas prints as 8" x 10", but I can create much larger scale canvas prints as well. One need only contact me, to upgrade their size)
The Party
Through the Trees
And, a piece that I didn't get to share with you, as I painted her very close to the holidays, and she flew off to her new home a couple days before I went out of town…
She was quite a lot of fun to paint, and kept me company while everyone else was out shopping in the hustle and bustle of the week before December 25th.
Also available as a print.
"At the Patisserie"
As for the book I am reading (and looking at).
It is called
It is a fabulous collection of family and friend (personal) photos, taken by her, as well as by friends and family.
Love her father's face, and his self portraits are splendid.
The reading is quite wonderful as well. I loved reading about Diego leaving Frida's vault to be opened 15 years after he passed away. But the woman in charge of it waited 50, and then passed on herself. Very interesting, to say the least. Great insight into her world, that we have not seen.
If you like Frida, you will love this book.
Anyhow…
Off I skedaddle….
Oh wait, here is a Miles shot of the day. I am letting him play outside for a little while during the day, but I check on him about 678 times.
If he gets tired, he just drops, and sleeps wherever he may be.
I wish you could see this chubby bunny in person. He is deliciously precious.
Matty is still loving him, and being a stellar big brother. We are so proud of him.
We just adore our Matty and Miles.
Well, I best be off, for real this time ;)
ps: Our most warmest thoughts are with the people and families affected by this weekend's tragedy. Thank you to so many of you for writing to ask about our safety. Mister's office (my former office) is diagonally across the street from where it took place, so it really feels surreal, to have such a thing happen in such familiar territory. Thankfully, we were nowhere near there on Saturday.
Our heart's warmest well wishes to the wounded, and their families. And especially to those who lost a loved one. No words can describe the sympathy and thoughts we send their way.

they are divinely beautiful, vanessa :). and the background colour of the top one is one of my favorite colours ever… you’re making it hard to choose ;). i’m sorry i missed the send-off of the wishes, would have loved to put one of mine in there too. just beautiful, what you do, as always. and so happy to see your new baby! a bit late of course, but i’m wishing you the most wonderful year!
The Frida book…swoon…swoonswoonswoon…
I’ll be heading to Barnes & Noble this weekend.
P.S. I love your little punkin’ head Miles.
To the Ever Talented Vanessa: I REALLY <3 Flora. And Miles.
Oooooh, one of those lovely ladies is coming to live with meeeee! *Insert big smile here.*
I am happity beyond happity to hear that Miles and Matty love each other. That warms me more than a cup of hot chocolate!
The Arizona shooting tragedy has been so much on my mind, and I had no idea that it hit so close to home for you, with Mr. Lovee’s office being so near. My thoughts and prayers are also with those who were lost and injured and those who love them.
Love you, sweet one!
I am so very happy that you and your family are safe. G-d help us all, we all need to be safe. One never knows. Your prints are all so very beautiful. From the photos of Miles, he is certinaly growing. What a wonderful companion for Matty as well as you and Mister.
May this new year bring you good health, happiness and joy all year long.
That picture of Matty and Miles is a wonderful balance to the senseless, surreal story unfolding there in Arizona. I’m so glad you shared that picture of those two puppies. So cute. And my favorite of your pictures? Hands down. It’s Through The Trees. LOVE it!
Hugs to all of you, fuzzy or not!
Kathy
Too much delightfulness for one post, V. Your talent astounds. Love, R xo
OMG, I had no thought that you would be that close! I’m so glad you’re okay.
Those pups are sweeties. I love that photo.
xo
Your paintings are gorgeous Vanessa. I particularly love “through the trees,” which has a surreal quality. All the best to you!
Love that book. I picked up in October last year …at a bookstore chain called Gandhi in a small town in Mexico… and I’m in India… tee hee. Love life’s little coincidences. 😀
Good to know you and your family are safe. I stopped reading the papers or watching the news 7 months ago. So much sadness and hatred in the world… it’s disturbing. Fur babies to the rescue!!
adios~
Love the Through The Trees painting! The book looks wonderful, I may have to pick that one up! Michele
**squeals** OOOooooooo Va Va Va Vanessa!!! Me loves all the new art!!! I really like the contrast in Through the Trees; the trees and earth look so eerie and the sky with that moon and the marshmallow mountains is so comforting. It there anything cuter than a puppy lying frog-style!!! I want to scoop him up and breathe him in. You DeLovely. **blows kisses** Deb
Prints great. Love them. Your paintings are so pretty, I love the detail.
The book looks so interesting.
The Arizona tragedy is just so sad. I didn’t realize it was so close to you all, that makes it scarier.
Gosh i would just love to know where you get your art scanned . i took mine to Office Depot and it turned out awful. They couldn’t get the colors right.
Miles is awful cute. Glad Matty is being a good big brother.
Deb, Are you in Tucson? Even though I get my items scanned
beautifully, I still have to bring them home and work on the colors quite a bit
using photoshop. I take my work to Reproductions downtown. They do large scale canvas incredible high res scanning. You have to drop your work off for a day or so.

I love these paintings…they are so wonderfully clean.
Awwww!!!puppy love…the boys look so cute together.
Hi Vanessa!
Your chubby bunny is just so luscious. I am really thinking I may have to get Through the Trees print soon to add to my collection here 🙂 🙂
Is there any way I can zoom in to see the characters a little better? Let me know.
Wade
Have you seen the book “A Self Portrait in a Velvet Dress”? You remind me of Frida in the way you dress – your own style…..love that Frida’s bedroom was locked for 50 years (by her husband – how romantic) after her death & costume restorers were allowed in lst.
Your sister knows you well, doesn’t she?! What a fun gift…..
Oh Miss Jill, I actually had that book and gave it away on my blog
;)in 2008
You have reminded me… Iwill have to get another copy 😉
Isnt that funny???

I’m in love with your work, totally smitten. My favorite is Flora the Gipsy Girl. I’m swooning over the book, too. You’re such an inspiration….thank you for existing.
I could become a blog addict (lets see, I had to hold up my hand the other day & say, “my name is Jill & I’m a jewelry addict!) so I only read about 10 (you and Rhinestone Armadillo are my faves)
Warming up my car for a trip to Rita’s Panaderia and a swooning trip back into your archives!!! My family used to go to Guaymus, Mexico for Christmas each year & your blog pictures stir up that part of me…….Mexico, Hotel del Coronado, Victorian houses and the ocean are my favorite things. Wonder what else is lurking in your archives?!
I am glad you enjoy the book, I thought you would love it the moment I picked it up. Miles looks like a sweetheart!
Oh soft furry bunny dog I want to squeeze you! Don’t ever grow up (like your mommy didn’t…;)
Sweet bread?! Oh yum!
I’ll just die if you don’t come over and see the pretty photos V.
Hi Vanessa,
Love your new puppy! Your new creations are beautiful as always. I love the one in the woods. So enchanting. The one with the cake is making me hungry!!!
Karen
The prints, the puppies, the book….*sigh*….such loveliness!!
I join you in extending heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the tragedy in your area this past weekend. I say “all those affected”, but when senseless violence strikes, it affects us all to some degree, doesn’t it?
Praying for a more peaceful, loving, gentle and tolerant world, one where people shoot only beautiful photos.
🖤 Carolee
One day this year I WILL get one of your prints. I’ve been staring at them and loving them for so long, it’s time to get one for myself.
And I didn’t realized the shooting happened near you! 🙁 I’m so glad you and mister and the furry babies are all ok, and the rest of your family too. 🙂
Your paintings are beautiful! The Frida book looks awesome, have added it to my wishlist. Glad you and yours are well in light of the recent tragic events, big love XxX Tallulah <3
Love the Frida book! It is definitely going on my book wish list (which is quite long, as I am a book addict!)
I am glad your little family is okay. I live a little further north on Oracle than Ina, but I was at work at Chantilly when it happened, so I had to go around it on my way home. The whole day was just out of control and sad.
ps. Have you ever been to the Golden Goose? I just went there for the first time recently and it was super awesome!! Even though it is more in Catalina, it is easier to get to than Goodwill from where I live because there are less stoplights and traffic. I am a fan.
There are no words to describe my love for Frida…such a beautiful, inspiring, intriguing woman!
The prints are just beautiful…like pretty pastel bits of eyecandy!
OOhhh!! Me loves the little Miles puppy…King of the Catalina’s!!! Do you think he will be as big a ham for the camera as his big brother? Me thinks there’s nothing in the world more wonderful then sweet warm puppy breath…yummy!!! Speaking of yummy, the images from your Frieda book look most intriguing!! I love the clothing…Princess frocks.
It was very sad to hear the news about the shooting. Makes you wonder what goes on in the minds of some people and how far off the edge they must have fallen in order to do such things.
Much love to you from me…my Beloved Fanciful Friendling 😉
Miles is so darling! Your new pieces are beautiful, my favorite is Through the Trees!
what a delicious book! must look for it!
I ADORE seeing Miles in all his states of relaxation!!
x..x
Hello Vanessa! Sorry I am late in coming to visit with you. Your prints are so beautiful – I especially love At the Patisserie (wonder why!). Miles is so adorable – I love that Matty looks out for him (as a big brother should do!). And the book looks really awesome – I’ll have to check that out.
Thank you especially for your heartfelt words about the awful tragedy. My heart just sank at the evil that rears its ugly head in this world. It is always important to remember the BEAUTY of the lives that lived and to have them in our hearts always. Glad you and your family were nowhere near the incident.
xoxo Theresa

Just wanted to share this link with you.
An exhibit of her work is opening this month in Chicago. Oh so sadly she died just days before her work was discovered in a storage locker auction/sale.
There is a video on the site with a tv segment about her life and the discovery of her work.
Thank-you for posting about Frida. My husband loves her. I bought him the movie that you talked about on your blog and it was fantastic. We both enjoyed it.
I can’t wait to get him the book for his birthday. He’s very hard to shop for, since he has everything. This will be a great surprise!
