Tiny Tea Party…

I am having a tiny tea party for you.  Why you ask? Why?  Well, the reason is that I can’t much type, only nibble and sip.  This is a tiny tea party to celebrate me not losing one of my tiny fingers.  Okay, okay, I am being a bit melodramtic.  But, I did have a major right pointer finger mishap Friday night (thank goodness for my finger saviour, Doctor Lovee Lovee).  Which is leaving me not willing to type too much.  As, the poor purple dear has been worked a tad bit to hard today as it is.

Tiny_tea

But what I would like you to do, is to describe to me, what wonderful attire you will be wearing to my Tiny Tea Party.  Now, here is the catch.  The one of you, that describes to me the most outrageous wonderfully glorious wardrobe, will receive their make believe Tiny Tea Party self in an illustration.  Yep, I will recreate my vision of your description, and gift you yourself, illustrated, colored and printed on Canvas!! Plus a cameo appearance in your attire, right here at Tiny Tea Party central.

So, get dressed and grab a seat.  I want to know, who you are, what kind of accent do you have? Do you have a hat on? Feathers?  Gowns?  Teal Stockings?  Teal stockings, Oh wait, that’s me… Or are you a pirate? Of course, boys are invited too!!  Do tell!

I am just going to sit over here, and sip my spiked tea (revisiting a photo), and nurse my finger that got caught in a ladder, as I opened it, backwards, with my back facing it, and got completely caught, to panic point.  Screaming.  Crying, Shrieking.  Then resorted to having to yank out said little fractured piggy.  Mangled little guy 🙂 All while I was trying to use the ladder to sit on and play a tune…  I guess I really am not ready to join the carnival.  My skills are just pitiful…

Here is a sample of a character creation of a real person that I illustrated.  Suzanne Broughton.  I am sooooo delighted beyond words that she let me be a part of her new blog look!!  So fun!! Thank you Miss Suzanne!!

Off I go for now!!  I guess I did type more than I had threatened to 🙂  Oh, and I am working non-stop in the studio.  I want to bring you some new treats soon, but the creations seem to be going out the door to different places these days.  But I promise more treasures soon!! Oh, you’ll see!!

Pss:  Proof that there are a few girls hanging around…

See You soon!!  xxo, V

  1. sheri says:

oh my i’m first! ok so my name is “Leilani” and I’m from “Croatia”. I’ve come to your party today in my Mad Hatter hat, but it is pink, my favorite color. I had to wear my fabulous traditional, floor-length, croation dress, with paisleys and swirling ferns and perching wrens, all on a light blue background. this outfit could not be complete without the furry white boots for my feet, the sparkling yellow diamonds on every finger, and my white lace umbrella(can’t be in the sun too long, you know).

  2. sheri says:

oh i hope your finger heals soon….

  3. annieb says:

hello and sorry to hear about poor pinkie – hope she feels less mangled shortly..
I would LOVE to come to your tea party…I have been through my tiny wardrobe and decided, after much deliberation I will have you know, to wear the following ensemble…
striped petrol blue and lavender stockings, a polkdot skirt in a similar shade of blue with tender pinkish spots and pretty ricrac trim, a vintage french cotton and lace fitted blouse, in a dusty ivory colour with handembroidered peonies across the yoke (dusky pink, with purple and blue accents – the craftsmanship is incredible!), my blouse has short sleeves but as it is still a little chilly I will wear a long sleeved thin knit cashmere jersey underneath, in the prettiest of purple bruise colours…(I don’t want to cover up my lovely blouse with a cardigan after all, it took a trip to Minervois and a long search through many vintage linen shops to find that blouse)
my hair is short dark and bobbed like louise brooks, I may wear my handknit beret, it’s the prettiest grey blue seed stich, but I will probably remove this before we sit to eat cake…
oh, I almost forgot, I think I’ll wear some vintage brogues, I have some in a wonderful grey blue leather, in fact they almost match my hat…
I will bring my pet peacock if that’s ok, she loves to eat the crumbs
    what a delight!

  4. marjorie says:

OH, Your poor, poor littlest finger!! 🙁 I hope he mends soon! 🙂
Oh, a tiny tea party!! Hooray, hoorah!!
I’m not too good with describing attire…..much better at drawing it, I’m afraid….
but lets see….I’ve been in a very 1850’s kind of mood as of late so we’ll start with a flounced and billowing 3 tiered skirt…of the finest pink and cream sprigged muslin…..add to that a pretty and poofed fan-front bodice with bell-like pagoda sleeves and the purest white undersleeves imaginable. OH, and of course all worn over many, many layers of starched and crisp petticoats (and a corded petticoat for more ‘poof’);)
I’ll wear my new cream-silk bonnet (I’ll go with a faille) and pink-scalloped parasol and white, kid leather boots (that lace up the side)….and striped stockings for good measure! Yes…..I’ll wear that, methinks!!
Your little tea party sounds like such fun, indeed! 🙂

  5. Nette says:

Oh, this is a lovely idea. Before I go on, I am so sorry bout your little finger! Give it some lavender oil to soak in, dearest.
Now, I have been up since before 4 am, not a planned getting-up time, but it’s one of those things when you have a little girl who shouts out in her sleep, plus a dog who snores like a large piece of unoiled timber-cutting machinery. So that’s my excuse for my lack of creativity today — no lace or frills for me, just honestly, my most comforting outfit:
Soft and well-worn jeans that don’t pinch; a t-shirt of softest lavender-blue cotton topped with a roomy, cozy pull-over, probably pilfered from my father’s drawer…the sweater is grey — not a sad grey, but a quiet, relaxed grey that is good for early-morning walks.
For shoes, I will go back in time and get my bright blue Doc Martens with the yellow lacings and trims…
I will bring a stack of books and magazines and possibly my own bean-bag chair, for today I feel like lounging in the corner, reading, and sipping some of your wonderful espresso. If you will be serving madeleines, all the better!
    Wuv,
    Annette

  6. Jackie says:

I like Renaissance dress and have never had an opportunity to wear one so I am going to wear one to your tea party.
Beautiful long dress, the skirt full….with an open coat with train made in burgandy brocade… the front has a scaloped neck line and high waist…made in burgandy with gold trim Long sleeves have shoulder roll with gold an burgandy braid and cuffs. My hair is up with beautiful ringlets cascading down the sides of my face… a bit of baby’s breath placed carefully throughout my hair.
Sorry I’m not very good at describing this dress I have pictured in my mind… but it is beautiful 🙂

  7. You have no idea how excited I was to recieve an invitation to you glorious tea party. I’m delighted to attend and very happy to be here. Earl Gray please. Two lumps of sugar and one tablespoon of fresh cream. I love your china pattern.
I may have a bit of trouble sitting on a toad stool and hope you won’t mind that I brought my own ballroom chair. I am very, very old (don’t tell anyone) and have been around for more than a few hundred years, although you can’t tell by looking at my lovely complexion. Quality facial cream, spinach, an electric razor, and an abundance of pink lipstick and rouge keep me young and pretty. That’s what I think.
Today I am glorious Mardi Gras Queen Isabella Fontaine. I’m not bothered one bit by the fact that you have never heard of me, or that anyone else has heard of me prior to your party. In my mind I am a legend.
You can see from my attire that satin and ribbons were invented just for me. Red is my signature color, you even see a bit of it in my tiara.
Marie Antoinette and Scarlet O’hara had nothing on me. My dresses are fuller and bolder, my hair is higher, and tinted this lovely pink because it compliments my dress. I have more petticoats than you can possibly imagine and today I’m wearing a new piece of jewelry. You’ll notice that my eye mask has a diamond pattern in black and white with lovely little jewels around the edge. I prefer masks like the one I’m using today, not those garish things with the elastic straps because they interfere with my gorgeous coiffure. Notice the rock on my finger. I would not normally point to these things, but YOU ASKED! What I love most about my attire is this amazing cape that was designed specially for me! Have you ever seen a queen with a feathered collar on her cape? Of course, it’s a bit cumbersome because of the length, but it’s important that I make a statement when I am invited to tea. You’ll notice that the feathers on my pumps match the collar of my cape. It’s a bit difficult to drink tea, hold my mask and do my queenly wave, but somehow, I manage nicely.
Oh dear, how is that little finger of yours? I do hope it is much better today. Perhaps you should allow someone else to pour.
    Who are these people anyway?

  8. sarah says:

Well, since I’ve decided that Spring will not come to Iowa without some fairy influence, I’ve decided to dress myself up like said fairy for some tea and weather changing prancing. Blue skin, leafy loin cloth and brassiere, wild hair, pixie dust and sparkles, and my normal mischievous grin. I’ll let you know if it works.

  9. risa says:

i can never turn down the invite to a tea party!
my name is anna mae watson. i was born in baltimore, md but my father moves us west to the rocky mountains when i was a toddler. we were on the hunt for gold. he worked long hours in the mines and one afternoon when i brought him his daily lunch of bread and a pail of beer i fell into the mine and died a horribly painful death.
my body was never recovered, but today i will leave that mine for the first time in 121 years to join your party!
i’m a little dirty, but the beautiful lace my mother made still lines my dress and the embroidery i painstakingly added to the skirt and sleeves remains, faded but pretty as ever. i’m quite pale from all of the years spent undeground, but i sparkle thanks to the gold dust in my hair and on my face.
i convinced my old love to rise from his grave (conveniently located in a cemetery down the street from the old mine). jacob watts dons his dusty but debonair top hat and waxed his curly mustache in honor of your party.
our bones are pretty much popped back into place and we should be along shortly. we’ll be bringing some egg salad sandwiches on a lovely gold-plated platter decorated with blooming columbine flowers in our favorite shade of purple.
jacob just checked his pocketwatch (it still works after all these years) and it’s time for us to leave!
i just need time to dig out my black mourning pin and my favorite cameo, pin them into place and head on over to the party!

  10. an invitation to tea!? I’ll gather up all of the spring flowers in my yard. Sew them into a soft, floaty dress with big puffy sleeves that you push up to the elbows and tuck your tissues in. I’ll kick up my skirts to show off my emerald green tights. My fingers will glitter with lots of sparkly Vanessa type jewels. You’ll have to wear sunglasses. I’ll bring you my best poppy seed cakes and we’ll have fun flirting with Mr. Lovee together.

  11. Janet says:

Oh, my! I am a gypsy at heart so you’ll find me wearing a long, three tiered skirt in soft, gauze-y fabric….a lovely shade of purple, of course! I have a puffy sleeved white blouse cut very low to show my cleavage!!! Over that I’m wearing a small bolero-type vest in a lighter shade of purple and it is heavily encrusted with hand embroidery and little jewels and it laces together under by bust. I am wearing several necklaces, plus bracelets that jangle and sparkle, and huge hoop earrings. My hair is a tousle of dark curls, my feet are bare….although I am wearing some jangly anklet bracelets. If there’s room I’ll dance for you and twirl my skirts and just maybe you might catch a glimpse of my long tanned legs and the hint of some lacy underwear! I’m a free spirit and don’t like to be indoors too long but I’ll gladly accept a cup of tea and a pastry if you have some. Thank you for inviting me. Most people just think I read fortunes! I left my crystal ball at home!

  12. Janet says:

Oh, my! You may not recognize me. I’m a gypsy at heart. I’ll be wearing a long three-tiered skirt made of some soft, flowy, gauze-y material in purple, of course. My blouse is white and has big puffy sleeves and a very low cut neckline….to show off my cleavage! Over that I’m wearing a short, tight vest laced up under my bust. It is also in a shade of purple and is heavily encrusted with hand embroidery, metallic threads, and little jewels. I’m wearing several long necklaces, bracelets on both arms, and some huge hoop earrings. My dark hair is a tousle of curls and falls over my shoulders. I’ll peek out at you (and Mr. Lovee) from beneath my heavy dark eyelashes and just give you a glimmer of a smile. If you like, I’ll dance for you….in my bare feet, and I’ll twirl my skirts just enough for you to catch a glimpse of my long, tanned legs and a hint of some lacy underwear. I don’t usually like to spend much time indoors but I will accept a cup of tea and a pastry if you have some. It’s so nice to be invited in. Most people are afraid of me or think I just tell fortunes. I left my crystal ball at home!

    RSVP
I would be honoured to attend you Tea Party, and as requested I have enclosed details of my chosen attire for the evening. I do hope the weather stays fine for the afternoon.
    Kind regards, Olivia Layton Blyth
    Attire
For this occassion I have commisioned a beautiful 1820’s Bustle style dress. The corset is pink with tiny silver sequins like tiny sprinkles of sugar.
At the edge of my collar, bottom of the corset and underskirt there are folds of beautiful antique white silk, just like the large dollops of cream on scones.
The ruffels of my skirt are lavender and fall like layers of sweet icing dripping down a sponge.
nd finally my hat will be filled with tiny freisha and forget me nots, just like cup cake toppers.
So if we run out of treats we can eat my outfit!

  14. Karla says:

Oh dear – poor little finger. Hope that little guy (or gal) is back up and running real soon.
Thank you so for the invite to the tea party. I am only to happy to join you. I do not own teal stockings but I have put on my pink lace numbers. They show up very nicely with my “tea” length lavender polk dotted hoop skirt. The white lace petticoats compliment the stockings nicely. I’ve topped this with my lavender cardigan, the sleeves are pushed up just slightly as it is a bit warm and I wanted to show off my pearl and rhinestone bracelets. The one on my left hand is made with my great grandmother’s pink rhinestone heart that she received from my great grandfather upon the occassion of their first Valentine’s Day oh so long ago. My cardigan is topped off by rhinestone heart buttons (now you see why I HAD to wear the bracelet). The buttons are a shade of light green. I hope you don’t think I’m too pretentious but I had to wear my diamond hair combs – the occassions are really few and far between! These combs fasten the loose hairs of my chignon quite nicely you see. I thought I would show off my new diamond heart earrings – you don’t think I’ve gone too over the top with the hearts do you? Of course I can’t forget to mention my fluffy pink peony pin fastened to my sweater – perfect for a tea party! Mmm, this tea sure is good – did you say you traveled straight to England for the leaves?
    Karla

  15. sadira says:

Oh thank heavens! A party…I’ve been dying to go to one (and I can help serve tea and scones with lemon curd and strawberry jam, since the sweet finger is otherwise occupied in healing itself)
Ahem. Let’s see what I can pull out of my closet today? I think I shall don my 1940’s bias cut satin black slip (that I insist on wearing as a dress because it fits so well, and makes me feel a bit of a movie star) and I shall wear my tiny diamond quilted peach bedjacket (it’s a bit short like the vintage one’s are and falls to the top of my waist and has a satin ribbon to tie it together at the top) and then my black and white striped stockings (because it’s ridiculous to think I would come over for a tea party without them) and a lovely pair of black leather ballet slippers with tiny peach flowers around the tops of them…
Accessories (because you know I love the details) will have to be the lovely vintage peach bead necklace my father gave me for Valentine’s day, and then at least 2 of my clear rhinestone bracelets…the one with the flowers all over it, and then…well, I’d have to have you help me pick the other one, because it would be so very hard to choose…and then a hat! NO…a tiara…because I’ve always wanted to wear one, and I never have. Of course, it would be the clear rhinestone kind…
sigh. When do I get to come over??

  16. Sorry I didn’t ask you about your finger when I saw you.
I have an outfit for the party. It’s mushroom themed. I will begin from top to bottom. My hat, a top hat, is white with red polka dots and a red glittery ribbon that ties under my chin. My earrings are toadstools, red with white polka dots. My dress is a strapless party dress. Tight on the bodice and huge full skirt with layers of tulle petticoats underneath. The dress is red with white polka dots all over it a and a wide glittery ribbon belt. The stockings are white shimmery glittery and my shoes are yellow. Bright yellow with small mushroom brooches on them.
My handbag is in the shape of a tea pot. A blue teapot.
I will bring some orange peel pomegranate tea to share.
    Hope your finger is better.

  17. Clichy Rose says:

Dear Vanessa, regretfully, I must decline your lovely invitation. I simply have NOTHING to wear to a tea party. Nothing…except for Grandmother’s pearls. And I’m afraid I shant last long out of the sea…not long enough for a proper tea that ’tis. Unless…unless, perhaps?… Perhaps, you could host tea near your goldfish-footed old-fashioned tub? I could take tea… in your tub. What fun! Just picture me…my sunlit tresses gleaming like copper in the noonday sun and my teal tail shimmering and flipping in the sudsy water…bubbles and polkadot teacups and cupcakes…and a sweet little bird playing me chess. Oh…do tell me the date and time and I’ll try to find a new pair of shells…Love, Genevieve

  18. Niki says:

I love a good tea party. I am ever so glad to be invited to yours, but sad that it is being thrown so you can recover from your ladder incident (silly biting ladder).
You must dress for tea, of course, so i plan on wearing my favorite blue and purple frock. The bodice is grape-jelly purple with cap sleeves layered in lace, while the flouncy tea-length skirt is the same purple alternating thin and thick stripes with pale blue the shade of frozen kisses. (i’m told that color matches my eyes) I’d pile my hair in a curly, messy bunch and sprinkle it with purple and blue what-nots. I love to go barefoot (i hope that’s allowed on your toadstool), but feel the wrists should also be draped with beads and bangles so i’ll wear several of my favorite gold and peacock bracelts. Lastly, i’d carry a tiny purple clutch clasped with a helpful butterfly (with whom i’ll share my tea) containing a get-well card and a fairy’s sigh for your finger (i’d never come empty handed).
Feel better and get back to typing soon.

  19. Pam Aries says:

Knock knock..I am here now! I am all gypsyfied! Let’s see…Let’s start at the top. My hair is all reddish blonde and spikey…With a big sweet smelling Gardenia behind my ear. ..Big dangly silver coin earrings! My eyes are GReEN! My lips are lusciously red(uh huh.FaunBoy) Around my neck Silver and turquoise necklaces drip in a lovely entanglement over my heaving bodice of ebony velvet from the foothills of Transylvania Tons of slivery, glittery bracelets adorn my arms. My goodness.. Look at my beautiful skirt Wooo OOOO! It came all the way from the fairy Woods of Romania! THe gypsy faeries wove it of black silk and the finest velvet. Embroidered upon it are roses red as blood… diamonds , rubies and emeralds sparkle and dazzle as they reflect the firelight! And the boots…made from Scarlett Spanish leather….hand tooled with the heels embedded with Lapis Lazuli. I am bringing a bottle of fine French Sauvignon Blanc, as I want to get this party started…and I will be accompanied by my faithful companion..my Very Elegant Greyhound Sir Spot, The wonderdog. ( he is white with a brown spot over one eye and around the other)He will be wearing a jewel encrusted golden collar round his long lovely neck. Oh ..yes.. the big orange cat is coming as well. He insisted, you see. And he refuses to get dressed I shall be arriving with this entourage in My Gypsy Caravan 1977 VW BUS. Candle light will be glowing…and the wine flowing…the roosters crowing.. cattle lowing….West winds blowing….Voila Pam Aries, Gypsy Queen is in town.

  20. Ky Eliza says:

Ooooh! A tea party! What in the *world* should I wear?
Of course, I will start by styling my hair, which is short and blonde, into a faux hawk (in real life, too! I love doing my faux hawk). Ever indecisive, I plop my crystal tiara on my head, the one I wear everytime I am in my studio or cleaning the house (also in real life!). One must always have a tiara to wear when one is feeling particularly fancy, I find, and bridal stores have a lovely selection of them.
Ah, fancy! I must add to my fancy feeling by wearing a fancy outfit. I decide that I must put on black and white striped stockings, because I’ve always loved them. And what goes better with black and white striped stocking than a pink tutu? I immediately reject pairing my tutu with a leotard and choose a tight black turtleneck instead. I slide my feet into my pirate boots and wrap ropes of pearls round my neck.
As I am getting ready to leave, my sato, Miles, looks at me imploringly with his big brown eyes. Surely one small dog won’t take up too much room at a tea party? I put his collar on, the soft, dark brown leather one with silver rivets that goes so nicely with his gold and yellow and white and cinnamon fur and he marches out the door with me.
We go outside to our pumpkin coach and hop inside, snuggling under a (faux!) fur blanket, shivering in excitement at the prospect of tea and cakes and lovely companionship. When, oh, when will we arrive? This drive is taking too long!

  21. Erin Kleider says:

    Poor wee finger! Get better!
Now for the tea party, my do I LOOOOVE a tea party especially fairy sized as I am part fairy. My name is PetalBottom (it really is, ask my daughter who received fairy presents from me for a year and a half and enjoyed sparkly fairy kisses all over her face while she was sleeping). Nothing will do but for me to wear a spider spun creamy white gossamer lace gown with tiny jewel dew drops sparkling across the breast of my bodice. The skirt is trimmed with the abandoned petals of purply forget-me-nots and dotted with flecks of mica. As an accent, I think I shall wear a necklace and matching dangly earrings made from burnished and sparkly single pips of a raspberry, while my strawberry blonde hair is piled high, but loosely on my head in a magnificent up-do with tiny braids and curly-Qs topped with a sparkly, but tasteful tiara (I have always wanted one of those). Under my gown, I really want to wear cream and purply-colored striped thigh highs with frothy lace at the top (not that you can see it) with shoes made of bleeding heart flowers. I will carry a paper thin pale green chinese lantern pod purse decorated with more forget-me-not flowers and filled with the most exquisite compacts and creams to pamper my delicate complexion, as well as a wee tiny gift of blueberry jewels and candied violets for the hostess.

  22. I am sorry to hear about your poor little piggy!!!! I hope it feels better soon…
    XOXO….Kimberlee

  23. well you know how i love to be invited to tea partys- im running along to put my curling wand on hot-i shall curl my hair then pin some of my best raspberry roses on top of my head, mmmm- then it shall be my best pink bra and lace undie things- yes that does so nice -then it shall be black stockings with my dr martens, im thinking then maybe my dyed pink petticoats over my silk cream skirt-oh how it sound ‘s like dessert-my eye shadows shall be lilac with glitter over the top- and my best lipstick color shall be dark pink-oh i must not forget the jewellery-and i will open my best bottle of perfume-a dab here and a dab there- i do love the smell of vanilla- oh what fun.

  24. tiffany says:

Those dolls are going to be amazing.
Um.. I want to come very formal. How about Jackie Kennedy’s wedding dress.. it’s just so pretty.. that’s what I want to wear. I have a Utah accent.. I can’t picture myself speaking any other way sadly. I’m afraid that means I’m going to say “heck” and “yah” quite a lot… can’t help it. Perfume gives me a headache, but I love the smell of peppermints.. especially the swirly twirly candy kind. Instead of gloves or purses or hats.. I think I’ll have a pretty bouquet of pink peonies and baby spray roses. And, for tea.. I always have boiling water in a cup, 1 wedge of lime and a teaspoon of sugar pretty please. And for you a box of macadamia nut caramels from V Chocolates.. they’re my favorite! I hope you like them too! 🙂

  25. michelle says:

Oh poor pinky! And an artist really needs all her fingers! I hope it mends quickly!
What a wonderful thing! A tea party! My favorite! Brittany and I used to have one every afternoon during her little brother’s naptime. What to wear? Something wonderful that I would be unable to wear in real life. The magic of your wonderful illustrations is that I could wear something puffy and frilly and have an ity-bity waist(unlike real life!) So what would it be? A gorgeous pink frock with layers of ruffles and polka dots, it has a sweetheart neckline and the tiniest lace around this neckline. Not so unlike your miss bliss. My hair will be it’s “natural” blond and flip up at the ends as her’s does too. I think since this must be a very proper tea party considering the lovely tea set, that gloves are probably in order and I shall also wear one of my great grandmother’s hats. It is small and black and has lovely little feathers on the back. A vintage pearl neclace in many layers of course. Oh, and must have lovely high heels and matching black purse. Oh, how I would love to come to your party in this ensemble. Almost as much as I would love to win this prize! It would absolutely be the ultimate treasure! I will bring the chocolate dipped strawberries and cucumber sandwiches!
You darling girl, this is so fun imagining the perfect tea party ensemble! Feel better! XOXO

  26. Jeanne says:

    Oh what a glorious idea.
    Thanks for the tea party.
    I love everything you share.
You add spring to my life each and every day~

    ~**insanely gifted**~
    man!
what a wonderfully perfect thing to say!
i like her already, i do.
    i get the ~~insanely~~ part

    but i am ever hopeful…
    🙂
    i am wearing purple flip-flops
    to your tea*party
and something FRESH from the drier…
i picked purple to honor and heal your finger!
    thank god we have 10!
{{{ what are you down to?
still have the full set, do you?
was just wondering, what with all
your nimble fingers are up to
    these days, carry on safely, missy }}}

  28. oh, hello, completely and utterly mortified. you see, i have arrived here in my bathrobe. it is a pink fluffy one with a coffee stain on the right pocket. it is lined with bright green and white polkadots. underneath i have my flannel pjs in plaid and my (oh, how embarrassing) big fluffy bunny slippers with the googley eyes and whiskers (eek, face getting red). how totally embarrassing to find a tea party in session when i just stopped in for a cup of sugar to make muffins. oh dear, slipping out hopefully unnoticed by your beautifully attired guests.
have a fantabulous time and take care of your wee pinkie, ouchy!

  29. I shan’t be able to attend, and so, no description here, but I just wanted to say that you, as always, charm me!
    Christine

  30. DENISE says:

I am totally borrowing my friend the Siren’s paper dress and her ballet shoes too.I will fit right in with all the girls.

  31. Vanessa,
Thank you for your invitation! I will be there with bells on!!! Fancy Tea Parties will forever enchant my feminine spirit…I adore the Victorian era; where the love of tea was made a special occasion, everyday, and allowed us ladies to gossip freely amongst the rose bushes with a hot cup of Grey Earl in hand. Truly the fairest occasion of them all and only the Proper tea etiquette will do; Pinkies up of course.
    ummm, what to wear?
I will be dressed for tea in a fanciful tea gown and a floral bonnet embellished with pastel silk, ribbon and roses, emulating the shades of a summer bouquet. The Queen herself would be envious 🙂
I will be sending you, my hostess, a special gift in advance to decorate your table. Edible flowers…I like to sprinkle sugarcoated flowers in the cups for a delightful surprise. Candied pansies and roses floating in ones teacup, emulates the splendor of the garden with every sip.
The tea party mystique brings out the little girl in all of us. Whisking you off to a gentler era of leisurely time spent with good friends..
    I’ll see you there!
(LOL…Vanessa.. I wrote a tea article for a magazine a while back and thought it was only fitting to share in the fun…
You have the heart and spirit of a sweet child my dear Vanessa :)Never grow old!

  32. Dave says:

Goodness… I hope your finger is better with all due haste.
I would love to join your tea party, but I’m a bit frightened of competing with all the fantastic outfits that have been described already… wow.
Well, I guess I will give it a try anyway. Ok, here goes – I’ll be wearing a nice brown felt fedora with a black band and three feathers tucked in the band on the left side. Sideburns cut and nicely trimmed to about lip-length, but narrow, straight down the cheeks. A three-piece single-breasted suit, light brown with very thin light blue pinstripes and non-pleated pants. Sterling silver pocketwatch engraved with an art-deco sunburst pattern in the center and small art-deco floral patterns to the sides of the sunburst. A wide black necktie with small fan-shaped sunburst details, black argyle socks with brown round-toed wingtip shoes. Of course, I would have a long umbrella (long enough to be used like a cane), with a curved handle, in a brownish-green, with a tan border around the outside edge of the umbrella.
With regard to me, myself – I have a proper London accent (I wish…), and love trips to the theatre and the movies, the symphony (when we can afford it)… I also have a passion for cooking (as well as eating!), and help my wife with dinner most nights, and I play a few instruments and mess around with writing music, as well as poems and stories 🙂 I also love long walks at sunset, particularly along the waterfront, or the ocean.

    What fun!…
My dress for the tea party is a billowy, rich 1920’s pink silk satin gown overlaid with a net lace. The net lace has delicate butterflies interspersed throughout. The beautiful bodice is just amazing- it’s very fitted and curvy, corset style with lace-up ties. High collar, open in front dotted with the finest opalescent buttons. The sleeves are 3/4 trimmed in long, flowing antique lace. The skirt is silk with a long, artistically draped overskirt. Silk satin bows drape down the skirting in long trains. Of course I am holding the most divine lace-trimmed fan to cool myself off. My boots are lace up and the most fabulous ivory colored leather. The patina would make you cry. Oh, one more thing – just to rock it all out – my stockings are STRIPED!
p.s. Hope your finger loses its’ heartbeat soon. Oh, how it must throb!
    Joy

  34. Ooooooh Vanessa! I will be there with my black and white polkadotted smock dress…striped tights and black “floppy” shoes (flats with a big bow on the front…my favorites!!!) My very short hair will have some sweet little bobby pins in it and of course I will wear my tiny tiara!! Feel better you sweet pea!! xoxox…jenn

  35. Susan (A Walk in the Park) says:

First off, so sorry about your finger. I had a metal lawn chair fold up on me when I was just a wisp of a girl. Same result. Yikes. Thanks for the party invite. I am so excited. I love to dance and I am going to knock your socks off in a 1940’s vintage swing style dress in my favorite colors of pink and black and I love me some striped tights. My stole will be very shimmery and since my hair is two-toned for real, I just might tint the light part pink just for this party. Let it be known, that I plan on getting up on the table and shaking a leg. I’m going to do the Lindy, the Charleston, the Jitterbug and the Peppermint Twist. Who knows I might do the Worm and the Cabbage Patch. Hope you will have lots of iced coffee, cause I’m a’gonna need it! Hope to see you soon. Love and Kitty Kisses. Susan and Baby Milo

  36. A note to Vanessa
    Dear Little Vanessa,
I have been having such a lovely time at your very beautiful tea party. I hope you won’t mind that I snuck away and sent an invitation out to my friends. I have no idea who may show up, but I hope that you have an abundance of crumpets and tea.
    Sincerely,
    Queen Isabella Fontain

  37. Nancy says:

Miss Vanessa! God did not give us 10 fingers and toes so that we might have extras! We were meant to keep them ALL! You’re not supposed to go smooshing them in ladders….that’s just silly! 😉 I do hope your finger is on the mend….it sounds very painful, and that is something I try with all my might to avoid…pain. Blech!
I’ve read the above comments and you are going to have some very lovely ladies at your tea party! I’m afraid my very favorite tea attire though is long, flowing, comfy, and….flannel. I suppose if company were to come over I could put on a hat??
Even from your wee photo I can see that your new dolls are fabulous and I can’t wait to “see” them! 😉

  38. Gillian says:

    Vanessa,
Your poor poor finger!! I hope you get well soon!!!! Oh I have done that and MAN does it hurt! Yikes. I cringed just reading it. Sending you healing vibes and angels galore…on flying toadstools with little mushroom bandaids for your finger!!! xo
    Okay, you have a lot of input, but here goes;
I am in a purple shimmery flapper dress.
    Peacock feather headress.
Black and white paisley stockings, with purple shiny MaryJanes on my feet.
I am holding a gilded golden birdcage in one hand, in which my miniature owl is perched, she is wearing sunglasses. Her name is Druantia. In the other hand is my camera, as I am taking photos of all the other guests at the party…my left leg is bent and my left foot is perched on an old trunk, the trunk is spilling out jewels and pocketwatches and gold bars. I plan to dish it all out at the party, because it thrills me to share the wealth.
My hair is black and curly and very very shiny; smelling like night blooming jasmine.
I smile at all the guests, telling them how brilliant they look, and may I please take their photo?
I present the hostess of the teaparty with a large, egg sized pinky cocktail ring, it shines and shimmers with the largest chunk of amber mankind has ever seen! It is one of many in my collection.
    Thanks for the fun V!!!
    xo

  39. do hope that your finger feels better…I will only come to the tea party if the seats are mushrooms…you know how I love them too. Glad you are back!
    best,
    carol

I hope your finger is doing better! OUCH!
As for the Tea Party, here I am. My favorite red and black striped stockings, and my knee high black Doc Martens. My Black pleated (school girl) skirt. My red shirt that is kinda velvety, and over that my Tux jacket with the tails. My hair is as curly as ever, and cut in what we called a Bob-Swing.(Shorter in the back, just below hair line, and gets longer in the front, almost to my sholders.) And to top it off, my black top hat with the red velvet hat band and big red rose on the side. Oh and I can’t forget my red fishnet gloves, that I saved from my Madona faze. My favorite RED lipsick as always. (this is what my mother would call my Ring Master outfit! But I guess it I am going to be in the Circus, I would like to be the LEADER!)
I have brought with me some Petit Fours, chocolate covered, toped with red roses. Some Eclairs, and a varity of Macarons. Some wonderfull Pinwheel snacks, they are like traditional finger sandwiches, but rolled in a tortilla and cut into round. (I just didn’t thing that Finger sands would be good, considering your big OUCH!) All of these goodies are carried in by mini circus animals, as I seat my self on a wonderful red and white mushroom. I will take a cup of tea Please. So lovely to see every one here. Oh I didn’t forget, my gift for the hostess?, the Acrobats, and Trapeze Artists are here to entertain! (Alas there will be no clowns, They Scare me!)
    Love Erin~

But feathahs you say – ma deah today ah only have on feathahs from ma decolletage to ma ankles. Stockings – oh ma deah it’s much too warm in Gawga for stockings. Ma tootsies peek through ma open-toed stiletto heels – toenails painted fushia of course. As fah accents ma deah – Southern is the only one ah know. Ah’ve always had luxurious red hair (pssst – we won’t tell that it’s due to that Clairol bottle mah mama taught me to use) with the most glorious blond streak. Now ah’m bringing ah famous Krispy Kremes to yah party – afta all they did originate right heah in Gawga. And mimosas of course and ah’ll bring chilled champagne glasses to put them in. So get that party started honeychild because ah’m on ma way!
P.S. Ah’ll bring some red Gawga clay with me too – we’ll just mix a little water in it and make a paste to take all the pain out of your poor little finga.

  48. Hi Vanessa! I want that mushroom table! 🙂
    Hugs,

  49. trina says:

So I know I’m too late for the drawing and that is fine with me, but I had to join in the party anyway. 🙂
My chin length black bob will be sleek and shiny and with fringe short and sassy like Bettie Paige or Amelie.
I will arrive wearing my beautiful chocolaty brown wool coat, with it’s big bone buttons and lovely skirted out silhouette. I will be wearing a matching brown wool cloche with peacock feathers and a rhinestone pin. And on my jacket one giant white creamy magniloa blossom.
I will be wearing some lovely mid calf black boots with buttons up the sides and a wingtip toe all shined and creased with love and wear.I will have on some charcoal grey crochet tights and grey-ish-blue spat like leg warmers to keep cozy.
I will be wearing a vintage, flowy, creamy, greenish-grey dress. It will be an hour glass 1950’s-ish shape with a wide boatneck neck line, the skirt is made with layers and layers of sheer flowy fabric and laces that is reminiscent of a 1920’s flapper.
In my hair, a silver clip adorned with some feathers and pearls and clear and grey rhinestones.
On my ears, drop freshwater pears given to me from a lovesick buccaneer from a time long past. (One refused due to the state of love for a certain fedora topped, single-breasted suit wearing, gentleman with a swoon worthy London accent presently attached to my arm.)
I will done my best red lips and smokiest eyes and bring along a batch of my famous chocolate zucchini cupcakes topped with my equally famous cream cheese frosting and little glittering pale pink sugar crystals and silver edible ball bearings.
Oh, and to accompany us will be two perfectly behaved grey cats; one with a half pink, half grey nose, white boots and a pale green silk cord for her leash, the other a dapper boy with a small back bow tie and dark grey silk cord to purr and dole out affection to all the guests. 🙂
I take my tea with cream and sugar please.

  50. trina says:

Oh and my hello will come out softly, as my english is not so good and my french accent is quite evident.

  51. Sherry says:

Is this your first injury?? Given how busy those fingers are and the things you undertake, if this is the first, I think you’ve done well!! That said, I hope you are healing well…and faun boy and the girls take very good care of you!

  52. harmony says:

sorry to hear of the finger…
i absolutly love tea parties…but do not frequent them…as many do not allow faeries…but i could put on some glamour…and fool everyone that i am human…(my skin is really the prettiest green) i would wear a brown and yellow striped bustle dress…with lots of buttons down the front…a high collar with lace…..i may allow my wings to show through…they are quite colourful…greens and blues…some yellow…i prefer to be shoeless…as i love to feel the dirt and mushrooms on my feet….i will have some manners and wear my brown lace fingerless gloves…and my brand new hat i found in the trees…made of leaves and acorn tops…
i have a very small voice…and ask that i may bring my pet slug in his old fashioned bird cage…he would love it so…
