Tea Thoughts…

So, I am thinking up all sorts of thoughts.

Searching for guidance with tiny tea accouterments.

Prepping and planning.

Tea times 5a

When I go to little tea things –

When I start to peek into fairytale goodness –

I get that wonderful inspired feeling of magic brewing in the belly.

And I think to myself…

I should go to "that place" more often.

Tea times 4

I have got my nephew all dressed up to play the part of Alice.

He seems okay with it 😉

Tea times 2

Tiny tea set love!

Why is everything better in miniature I ask?

Tea times 3

I am playing with my beautiful hankies and pretties.

High tea mood swirling about.

Tea times 6

Care for a cup?

Tea time 7

To be honest.

Never ever ever in the history of tea parties have I known what I am doing ahead of time.

I sort of just fly by the seat of my pants.

So, half of this year's flyer has appeared in my mind.

I will sketch tonight, and bring back some dates soon I hope.

In the mean time…

I am playing and getting tea inspiration.

There are guests and get togethers and all sorts of events going on at my pad.

The madness has begun!!

I hung fresh fabric from the trees around the garden bath today.

It was so hot, I felt all the energy zap out of me.

I am not a napper, I never nap.

Do you?

But I did today.

I woke up to Mister screaming, Dovee help me!

And I woke up all hysterical, confused and in tears.

He just wanted me to bring him some water because he was covered in paint.

Working on a project outside.

He had no idea I was napping.

Hahaha!

I almost had a heart attack, thank you very much.

I don't know why…

I wake up from naps feeling all woozy and bobble head, and weepy.

Which is why I don't do it.

I need to learn how to nap.

Got any tips or tricks?

Off for that perfect cup of tea.

And more party planning.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

  1. Oh my….I am not a napper either. I am sometimes tempted to nap. My eyes want to rest and I want to drift, but I know better. When I wake up, I feel just the same as you do, all wobbly-bobbly, shaky and weak. Nope. No naps for me!
I love your miniature tea set. I have some miniature tea pretties but none so small. I have my grandma’s tea set from when she was a little girl and I have 2 small sets from when I was a little girl. I hang my sets by twine on the family Christmas tree each year. Ohhhh….here I am rambling again.
You must be getting the heat we had last week. It was terrible. Today, it was much cooler, only 80 degrees. BUT…it felt sticky and humid. Yuck! I am a desert girl by nature. Give me 105 degrees with dry hot wind any day.
Ohhhhh…you know what’s horrible? Taking a nap on a hot, humid day in the Ozarks! As lovely as our little stone cottage was and as beautiful as my garden was…..the humidity was horrible. My aunt used to tell me that, no matter how many years a person lives in a humid climate, a body never gets used to it.
Ramble ramble ramble. Why am I rambling so much today? Maybe I need a nap.

I love that tea set! You always have the coolest stuff! 🙂
I don’t like to nap either. I always wake up feeling all wonky. Sometimes I’ll be reading or something and just doze right off and when I wake up it’s like I don’t remember where I am or what I was doing. Freaks me out. So I try not to nap. 🙂

  3. Oh Tea Girl,When it gets close to a tea party I do get excited and Your’s are more than wonderful. The only slightly better excitement would be if We were all really in Your garden on that magical day…….and I don’t sleep well day or night so no tips from Me. Hugs Denise

It makes me feel better to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t nap well. I have horrible nap dreams and wake up all anxious and sad.
Can’t wait for your tea party magic!

  5. oh my gosh, me too!!!! I sleep like a log at night if I walk every
day, but as for naps, no good at all.

Do you know if humans reverted back to their natural state, they would sleep about 5 hours at night and 3 hours in the afternoon. It’s been proven over and over with subjects who didn’t know what time it was and followed natural sleep patterns. I lived in Costa Rica for three years and EVERYONE takes a nap in the afternoon. The trick is to do it everyday and it becomes natural and you don’t have the hangover feeling when you wake up. Love you posts and imagination!

  7. Your miniature tea set is so pretty, Vanessa! I’ve always loved naps. I don’t like how I feel if I nap too long and have found that even a 20-30 minute doze works good for me. I like unplanned naps, too. The ones where you doze off while watching television or get heavy lidded while reading. If I plan a nap it is because I slept horribly the night before or am sick.

  8. Laura Tieri says:

    Whee! You’re back online!
I too love everything in miniature, even food! Maybe that’s why I have a miniature dachshund! : )
I like to take naps! What weirds me out is when I fall asleep in the daylight & I wake up after it gets dark out!
My brain just gets majorly confused!

  9. Oh yes, that kind of sleep is weird toooo!! 😉
Oh that heavens the blog is back up, it was starting to make me very anxious!
Last time it happened it lasted 6 days off and on, and I handled it okay, but another attack is just a little muchness for me 😉

  10. Miss Linda says:

Oh Miss Vanessa…This tea set is simply wonderful. All the detail and the smallness of it all. Precious.
I am a napper, but if I nap too deeply I don’t sleep at night. I think my naps are saved for those cold winter days..

  11. Marilyn says:

I don’t like to nap, but sometimes it is too hard to resist.
Love, love that little teaset. Wondering if my mind can conjure
a teatime in miniature. Hummm! I think it would have to be by
the seat of my pants also, but in the meantime my mind will be
    thinking.

  12. Alia says:

I have a similar problem with naps. I like them, but I usually sleep for way too long and wake up more tired than before and with a headache. So I don’t often nap either even though I want to!

  13. Jenn says:

Oh napping freaks me right out! I wake up sooo grumpy and disoriented. I don’t usually nap during the day unless I’m sick or something, too many exciting things to do! Very excited for the Mad Tea Party, I have a few ideas…

  14. Totally agreed!! 😉

  15. I nap everyday. I think I have the art of noon snoozing down, since I come from a place where siesta is a must. The Dominican Republic is an oven between the hours of 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm, so we find someone cool to nap. Now, I nap between writing sessions.
Siesta is great. Things are usually fine, I wake up rested and wanting coffee, but earlier today I dreamed I was fighting a roast beef sandwich. Don’t ask because I don’t know. I don’t even like roast beef.
I’m so excited about the Mad Tea Party. Can’t wait! 🖤

  16. Betty says:

So very happy to see you back in blog-land, Dear Miss Vanessa!!! I’m already working hard on my blog post for the Mad Tea Party! So excited! The picture of your nephew dressed as Alice makes us giggle!
    Sending hugs,
    Betty

I’m no napper either….feel fuzzy headed like I have a hang over…no thank you to that! We had a lot of sadness this year and I am really looking forward to this party. I am hoping it rejuvenates my blogging and craftiness…right now I still go through the motions. I plan on having a giveaway as usual, just need to think up what….hmmm…a tea cupped pincushion mayhaps?

  18. Donna says:

Oooooo! I’m so excited about the Tea Party! I can’t wait! And naps…yes, I am a napper. When we lived in Italy, everything shut down for a few hours in the afternoon for a Siesta. I thought it was a wonderful idea! All my kitties have taught me how to nap. Short naps re-energize me but long naps make me feel all muzzy-headed.

  19. I wake up foggy and weird from naps.
P.S. Send Douglas to me in a box. Do it now. Right now.

  20. Linda Diane says:

I think your nephew Douglas is so adorable. I love his name, too! My daughter has a min pin. Is that what Douglas is?
Oh, I am afraid that I am a napper. Often I am a I’m-supposed-to-be-watching-a-movie-with-my-husband-but-I’m-nodding-off-on-the-couch napper! Sometimes I am a deliberate napper, but often I am the napper I mentioned before!
I’m sorry you were awakened so suddenly by Lovee’s call and that it was so unsettling!

  21. I wish I could become a lover of napping.
My Dad loves power naps. I must look into this ;)))
Oh yes, Douggie is a min pin 😉

  22. How lovely…a nap during the daytime. I can’t take them either or I won’t sleep at night – AT ALL. You might remember I had chronic/insane insomnia for over 10 years and still suffer from it? If I throw my sleep pattern off even the tiniest of minutes, I’m out of whack for a while.
That said, now that the heat is hitting, yes…a nap sounds amazing. It was over 90 here Saturday and I couldn’t do anything. Full sun and heat just wipes a body out.

  23. Marjorie says:

OH are not tiny tea things the most magical of things!!? I am smitten beyond words over my little one’s vintage sets….your little cups and saucers are so pretty, the wee greenish ones! And yes yes, I’m just the same way with naps…and so was my Miss, (when she used to nap).
