Heloooooo there!
My oh my, I got swept away.
If you can’t find me, search under piles of crochet!
Besides buckets of yarn in my world…
I have been spending a crazy outrageous amount of time in my kitchen.
I have been working on a wonderful behind the scenes project night and day for weeks.
Looong busy days.
It kept me busy all December, including the holidays and straight through the new year.
It’s been fun!
I am just finishing up soon, and hope to be able to share in the near future.
Don’t you hate secrets?
I’ll tell you all about it when I can.
Alsooooo…
I’ve been popping treats in the shop.
Fresh new cards, with extra sugar on top.
They can be used for everyday and are also sweet enough for Valentine’s day too, me thinks.
They are double sided, with pleasant little backs.
They are available in the assortment above or in same cards packs of 5.
Take a peek here in the shopling.
🖤
Also…
Squeezed into my schedule, crochet season crept in.
I think I need an intervention?

There is yarn everywhere.
I mean everywhere.
When I am making things you will find yarn busting out of the house.
Does that happen to you?
I have this beautiful wooden yarn side table holder thingamajig I need to bring into the house.
It was my grandma’s, but she gave it to me a few years ago.
It’s in the cottage.
Right now every bag, laundry basket, table top…
Is all about yarn.
I think I may be boring everyone around here with it?
I stopped working on the great wall of blanket one day (sort of the way Forrest Gump stopped running).
After 8 years of adding and adding, I just stopped.
Just like that.
It’s huuuuuge.
It’s so heavy, and so warm, and too giant for words.
I got a tinge carried away.
Why don’t I have an enough button, I ask?
Now, I am undertaking something quite like it.
But not as big, and to be finished soon.
I started it a few weeks ago.
I’ll take some pics soon.
I stay up waaaay too late, crocheting away.
My back falls asleep, my hand freezes, falls asleep.
I move and wriggle around.
But don’t stop weaving away 🙂
See, an intervention.
It’s what I need.
Maybe not.
🙂
How have you beeeeen???
What’s happening out there in the world?
We have had days and days of 75’F weather.
It has been dreamy.
Are you all extra cold out there??
We’re dropping soon too I hear.
Keep me posted, what’s goin’ on out there? 🖤
Loooove, V

Oh Vanessa:
Pretty, pretty postcards. Very fresh and sweet. It makes me wish away the winter. It’s been warm here almost all winter. It is 76 degrees right this very moment, but I still dream of warmer sun and longer days.
My mom taught me how to crochet when I was little, but I don’t remember at all how to do it anymore. I wish I did. My mom didn’t knit, but she crocheted all the time. Pretty little dainty lace on the edge of pillow cases, bedspreads with pink roses, doilies and all sorts of lovely things.
My blind aunt Nola knew how to tat. She was my mom’s older sister. Isn’t that crazy? Can you imagine tatting without seeing? She went blind when she was a very young girl. Many years later, her doctor told her that modern medical advances could allow her to regain her sight and she said “no.” She already knew how to do everything she needed and was happy, so she stayed blind. 🖤
Even though I don’t do any type of crochet or knitting, I still LOVE to look at yarns and embroidery floss etc.
xoxo

Gerushia’s New World
Where i am, it’s been about 10′ degrees in the late morning. It’s been pretty cold and it’s only going to get colder.
Anyway, I really enjoy crocheting, I’m making a little sweater for my puppy because it’s too cold outside for him.
75 sounds really nice right now.
You’re amazing. I don’t have the patience for either knitting or crochet. Trust me, I’ve tried, but NOPE. I’ll just admire others’ handiwork from afar.
So, temps wise we’re supposed to have a “HIGH” of 40 for the day, which is practically balmy compared to other places who are experiencing polar weather. I’d like to have a huge crocheted blanket right about now, but instead I’ll wrap up with a homemade quilt from my Grandmother and try to watch a movie or read a book. Stay warm over there, yourself, ok? 🙂
Oh my, your aunt Nola, gasp, what a woman!!!
jen, i used to love the cold, but now I search for the sun like a mad woman. Keep warm, k?
Ohhhh, I looove to crochet, I don’t know why.
I am wondering if I love it because I have always been a counter in my head. I count and box things in my mind, counting letters and such, long complicated tale….
But I think I love the getting lost in counting + weaving thing of it?
😉
Miss Vanessa, Here in Michigan we are under a deep freeze….wind chills up to minus 19 degrees (f) way too cold. On top of that it is snowing and blowing and the temperature is 1 above zero right now. All the schools are closed, businesses have closed early and some didn’t open at all today. Please send sunny and warmer days to us in the frozen north!
I love all of your projects.. all are works of art.
Vanessa, here in Tennessee it’s colder than it’s been since the 1960’s. We’re having a deep freeze here. Today the high was 15 degrees F. Tomorrow, not much warmer. I can’t wait to see your crochet project and I love your cards!
Sharon!!! OH MY! Those temps are astounding. I would have to
sit in a hot shower all day to cope. I never realized what a cold whimp I
am until the last year or so. Today, I was so cold to me(it was
about 68), that I went to a brick wall that had sun shining on it all day, and
hugged it to get some warmth.
Of course I can sit in front of a heater, but when I bolt outside for a
break, I seak sun and warm.
Just dont remind me when its 115 and I am crying 🙂
Stay warm!! OH!!! I see all sorts of seep freeze warning on the
news.
I love to crochet! I’ve made several afghans. How come everything else is a blanket but when it’s crocheted, it’s an afghan???
The weather here is insane! I woke up to -14 with wind chills today around -48! We set a new record low for today.
It’s supposed to be the same tonight & the temp itself may get a couple degrees above zero by tomorrow afternoon! Balmy! I’ve been so worried about the birds & critters outside. I froze today going out several times to refill the feeders & put up little things for the birds to hide out in away from the wind.
It’s pretty sad that we are all getting so excited because it’s supposed to be in the 30s this weekend! Like that’s so warm! : )
We also got tons of snow over the weekend. There was a state of emergency just over the border in N.W. Indiana. Nobody could go on the roads besides emergency vehicles. Major expressways were shut down. Too much blowing & drifting. The National Guard is there helping.
We just scheduled a ski trip to Michigan. Might as well take advantage of all the snow!
Oh, I just got one of those cute little electric heater fireplaces that you have! I don’t know why, but our bedroom gets very cold sometimes. That heater is just the right thing! And it’s so stinkin’ cute!!! It got here just before the cold set in! Great timing!
those electric fireplaces are the best!! no smoke, no wood, but pretend
fire, yay!! It is sooooo cold there. I am horrified watching the
news about your neck of the woods. I am not for it. I guess the
universe knew to put me in Arizona when the stork was making its rounds back
then ;)))

OMG, something else you have a talent for. You are amazing! My mom taught me to knit when I was a young girl, but I can’t remember how to do it. I have thought about taking it up again, because it’s such a wonderful thing. My mom was extremely talented with her hands – sewing, crocheting, knitting. Everything she made was perfect. Her hand-done button holes were unbelievable. I can’t wait to see pictures of your creations.
Oh Melanie, it is in you, plunge back in, and you will be a total pro at
it, I have a feeling 🙂

I adore your crocheting! Can’t wait to see more pics of what you have been making with yarn.
I am in the midst of making a baby afghan in shades of the Little Mermaid under water grotto…teals, aquas, and a multicolored yarn with purple, teal, white, and pink…it will be a one-of-a-kind baby afghan for sure as I never use patterns but also make them up as I go along.
It was about 65 degrees here today, whereas my sister in Minnesota had -20, with the wind chill factor it felt like -40 below. There was no school today or tomorrow for her four kiddos as that is dangerously skin freezing temperature, but her poor hubby had to go to work! After defrosting the outside and INSIDE of the windows after backing it out of the garage. There garage is colder than their refrigerator freezer! BRRRR!
We are so spoiled with our lovely weather!
Ta! Ta! I love the new cards in your shop too! Will have to get some soon!
loves ya!

We think we are at the worst of it now, waking to -22 degrees before the windchill.
(wc somewhere in the -40 range) On the positive side, anything above zero will feel good to us later this week!
In So.Ca.the weather is gorgeous too.I’m loving it :)A few years ago I decided to crochet a blanket for My bed. It’s white and gigantic.I never finished it,I think because I know My husband sleeps with sheet on top and doesn’t like covers. That was My excuse but I know I just stopped for no good reason and will someday finish it ; )
Oh my!!!!

Heh, your giant blanket is great 🙂 It’s funny, me and Cinnamon man were just talking about these never ending projects some people take on. He was telling me about a friend of his who had started building a plane from scratch one day. He didn’t get it, but I could totally see how one would start down that path!
I have a list of projects as usual, but it all depends on my finally getting my butt out of the wagon and clearing out my craft-room-gone-storage-space…
Have a wonderful 2014!
Ooh, yay, crochet! I knit a bit, but all I can do is a straight line, so a lot of scarves and that is about all. I think the great wall of blanket sounds amazing! I wish I had a huge hand crocheted blanket to cuddle in. I mean I have some pretty decent blankets, even a couple my grandma knitted, but nothing like that!
That was me with the blanket.
I just couldnt stop adding to it, I found it so fun. Maybe I will
keep adding?? eeek! For now I have stopped, and now I am making a new one,
which I am almost done with, and it will have an end, hahaha!
