Oh yes, it’s getting sweet out there…
All the b’s have joined together to form their lovely spring dance.
Birds, Butterflies, bees and blooms!
Last week was pretty but after some rain and now increase in sun…
Well, it’s a full blown explosion.
I get inspired by spring.
I don’t know if I want to paint or garden or play in the gypsy wagon.
Part of me just wants to lay in the garden chaise and feel the sun.
This morning on a walk, 3 butterflies were in this flutter ball and crashed through my hair.
I literally let out a bliss sigh.
It was so magical.
Truly.
I jump out of bed in the morning to see what new is going on out there.
I love seeing fresh green crawling around.
It’s so exciting.
The bees are going bonkers.
Between all the fruit tree blossoms and aloes blooming, they also have arugula flowers to hunt through.
Bees, love them so.
The aloes are like flames popping open.
Matty and I visit with the 2 horses and tiny donkey looking over the wall into our garden.
Groups of yellow belly finches eat weed flower seeds like mad little eaters.
Feverishly as can be.
As others do their jobs.
The ground is covered with purple flowers, so tiny you have to get on your knees to see them.
But the bees found them.
Clever little guys.
Early spring.
Gives me chills of joy.
The glorious scent.
The butters.
The entire garden path lined with wild chamomile.
It can’t get better.
I am a happy camper.
Guess what I found???
A conjoined sextuplet wild chamomile flower!!
I thought it was a caterpillar at first.
Isn’t it special?
The sweet days of early spring are upon us in the high desert.
Sweet things all around.
And one of my fave sweet things.
Opening a fresh box of sugar cubes.
Fun!
Time to sip tea, and watch nature do its thing.
There were lots of hummingbirds, cardinals and vermillion fly catchers out.
But they were too quick for me & my camera.
It was a great week.
I escaped into town.
I stood in the scent of orange trees blooming in an outdoor mall.
So beautiful.
I snuck into Anthropologie.
I went out for lunches and tea.
Great busy little week.
Lots of runs on my garden path, through all the spring happenings.
Glorious.
Such beautiful days to absorb and enjoy.
What’s happening in your neck of the woods?
Love, V
T.G.I.F.

Your lovely pictures came at a perfect time. I just discovered that I either ate something bad or have the stomach flu. It was a nice distraction looking at all the wonderful nature pictures! Boy, that sure does look like a caterpillar!
We had a record low of 0 last night. I think it’s the latest that we had a zero. They say it should be the last of the arctic air. It should be in the 40s now & not the 20s. It’s supposed to get in the 40s & 50s & maybe even 60 by next weekend! How weird is that. The temps. go from 0 to 60 all in a week’s time! That’s just fine by me!!!
O.K., back to bed for me! Have a good evening!
Packing , packing and packing V for our move to Arkansas the end of the month… How did i ever accumulate so much stuff i want to know?! Crazy… But i do take time to step outside and enjoy the spring. Temps in the 70’s around here (Northern CA). They are under several inches of snow in Arkansas.. i hope that is all gone by the time we get there….. Hard to believe hubby is only a month away from retirement… Crazy…
We have a hummingbird that made a nest in our little tree in the front yard…right by the sidewalk… a quick peek revcaled two teen tiny eggs!!! I posted a pic today on my blog..its a little blurry but we didn’t want to disturb her too much… I wonder how long they will take to hatch…? Can you just imagine how tiny those babies will be!! Love seeing all your photos Vanessa . I haven’t seen too many butterflies yet…Hugs!deb
The warmth is nice, but I wish it weren’t so darn windy! It makes my allergies go all crazy. Did you go to Chantilly for tea or somewhere else? I am sad now that I work my new job I don’t really have time to work at Chantilly anymore. I still like to go in for tea sometimes though if I can! Hey could you send me your shipping address? I have some things that I meant to send you months ago, but I am a bad, bad, friend!
We have our cold spells and icy weather here in San Antonio, but your garden sure does inspire me to get my own started. I have 1.5 hours left of internship!! Now I have more time for fun things like gardening, getting more time to work on my jewelry shop on Etsy and reconnecting with friends. Adventures! Volunteer work! I am open to anything.
I have been packing for our move to a new house! So exciting to try new things! It is a very beautiful place that we are moving to with gobs of natural light! Yay!
Your post is so sweet and makes me happy! Love that chamomile and those butters! 🙂
Dear, lovely, Miss V
Your photos are always so magical!
The butterflies in your neck of the woods are so gorgeous.
I was out pruning our apricot tree, today, before it creeps too far over our neighbor’s back fence. I take my time pruning, getting down off the ladder, and surveying my progress. There were creeping vines which had also grown up into our plum tree and also dead grape vines from last fall, intertwined in branches, so it was definitely time to do some pruning, and trimming; now that the cold weather is over. It feels so good to get out into the sunshine and do yard work.
What an adventuresome week you had going shopping and having tea and luncheon. Quite marvelous, indeed! Wish I were there!
XO
Miss Teresa
Soooo beautiful, Vanessa!! :))
I would just love to have property like yours, all those trees and flowerssss!!
And the sugar cubes! Squeee! Do you ever take honey or milk?
Love, Heidi
Pure heaven…
The funny thing is, i don’t even take sugar, tee hee. It’s just pretty so I like to offer it. I usually take no sweet & maybe some almond milk if in the mood. I do love honey & tea on occasion, lemon too <3
Vanessa, have you seen those little ‘brown sugar’ cubes that they have at the Whole Foods?
I don’t usually take my tea with sugar either but when I do, I use coconut sugar, it gives the tea a sort of caramel flavor, very yummy 🙂
Vanessa, Did you know…if you encounter a Goldfinch, you are being invited into the Fairie Realm! Goldfinches live in the in-between zones, in hedgerows and shrubs that are between open fields and the woods, so they have access to both worlds. Isn’t that magical? Just thought I would share that with you today. Wishing the cold and snow would leave now, so I too can walk outside and visit with the sun and the bees and flutterbys. Enjoying your posts, as always. Blessings, Linda.
Feeling better today so I looked at the photos again! The one with the yellow finch is great! That could be on the cover of Birds & Blooms! It was sunny & nearly 50 today!!! Whee!
Beautiful post Miss Vanessa! 😀
Oh how beautiful everything is. I love spring. I noticed my daffodils have shoots of green 🙂 Today was so warm and sunny I went outside and washed some windows.
My mother used to buy sugar cubes. I haven’t thought of that in years. I should look for some to go in my hot tea 🙂
Thank you for sharing your lovely garden with us.
Such loveliness in your little corner of the desert! Today I weeded undesirables from my wildflower bed, admired lupine dotting the yard, swept up mesquite “hair” from the patio and cheered my husband on as he planted our very first meyer lemon tree. Sat on the patio past sunset sipping champagne and being very thankful I’m in southern Arizona. Cheers! Looking forward to your vegie tales!
I am green with envy (and with fresh spring leaves). Spring is one of my favourite times of year. It’s so fresh and new and filled with possibility. I also start new projects in spring, because everything is so lovely and bright it feels as though anything is possible!
Good Morning Miss Vanessa, I am excited to say that Spring is in the air. You can even smell it in the air. Our winter weather is still on the ground but you can see little springs of trickling water down the driveway. It will be 40 (F) this week and I hope bu Friday it all will be gone. The sun is shining more now and that makes me smile. Soon, I will buy some herb plants and get them started in the house.
I finally made a new post on my blog. I hope my blogger friends will take a peak and make a comment.
I hope you and your family has a wonderful week.
Pure spring joy! I love all the color and whimsy. Is there a story that goes with the beautiful teacup in your first photo?
Lady V, we finally are starting to warm up here. It’s 46 today which feels like spring after all the cold. Now, the longer days are coming it glads my heart.
Oh, that little butterfly! or moth! And that goldfinch! And… THAT PUPPY!!
Yes. Spring is here. We got our first Scott’s Oriole visit of the year.
xox
All your “Bs” are quite Beautiful! Yes, it’s springing all over — finally!
Vanessa, how BLESSED R U …..for that Tree, That GLORIOUS Blooming TREE of yours!!!! I would just be sooo thrilled to have such a tree to look upon. Do you do anything special to keep it going? Also, I have secretly been jealous of your cuttings of these tree floral branches gracing your home! 😉
Matty and Miles must be loving all the springy shenanigans going on in ur Fanciful gardens. I do love the yellow finches and there lovely sounds. Have you spied any cardinals yet? I’ll be heading to check on ur instagram and hopeful to post some pics of my own soon. Springy Joy to u and the boys!!!! <3
Such a joy to see your photos ! It’s reminding me that there is grass under the snow and gave me a peek of the joys that lay ahead.
It’s so pretty at your house right now! Love the sugar cubes, too.
A flutter of butters through your hair?! Bliss sigh, indeed!!!! How utterly magical. What a little dreamworld your garden is. [Enter MY bliss sigh here.] And that chamomile flower is amazing! Did you notice that . . . it kinda looks like a V? You know, that kind of curved, bubble-like V like the teenage “font” we used to make letters with in junior high?! 🙂 Spectacular, nature is! P.S. Is Matty nice to the horses and donkey?
