Summer Magic in the Night Garden…

Heloooooo!

It's summer, hip hip hooray!

I've been swamped this month and now wrapping up some projects means enjoying summer.

I am sooo happy to be here right now.

We welcomed the summer solstice with music & light.

From fairy twinkles to candles flickers…

Summer magic 1

I've since spent every evening in the garden.

It's been so hot, but evenings up here cool off well enough to enjoy being outside.

Summer magic 10

The lanterns and lights glow beautifully adding to the magic of the night sky.

Summer magic 2

Flowers bob around and pups join in the fun.

Summer magic 3

It's like a little light oasis tucked into the darkest night garden.

Summer magic 14

Candles drip and flicker.

I play lots of Luiz Bonfa & even some Talvin Singh.

Summer magic 11

We swing and sip berry and lime drinks.

We dance and bask in the beauty of life.

Living.

Love these moments.

Summer magic 4

The lanterns hang from a volunteer tree that popped up right in the middle of my garden.

A seed must have floated in, and presto, a tree.

It's 2 years old and growing faster than fast.

Tucked under the canopy of the mesquite tree.

Almost meeting.

We'll see how that goes.

I just couldn't stand to remove something that found its way here.

So, a big tree it is.

Summer magic 8

Gifting limbs for hanging lanterns and shade for hydrangeas and roses.

Candles flicker in the breeze.

Casting golden hues.

Summer magic 9

Drip, drip, plop.

Summer magic 12

Swoosh…

Summer magic 13

One goes out as smoke swirls about.

Life.

Simple pleasures.

Goodness.

Summer.

Nights.

Candle wax.

Tunes wafting through tree leaves.

Magic.

What more can we ask for really, but simple pleasures as such?

I've sped through another month in life.

Busy busy.

Time to put my house back together.

Get back to my own life after so many projects.

Catch up time.

And bonus, have some massive tea party fun.

It's about that time.

Almost.

Happy summer, it's here!!!

How are you doing out there?

It's crrrrazy hot here in the desert.

xoxo

Sparkly heart

ps:  Little phone video I posted on instagram during our summer solstice celebration…

Gorgeous! I love your garden-it looks magical at night. I just wanted to pop in and say hi, and that I am planning to join in tea party fun, but have not had time to sort it out properly as my fried from America is here so I have been spending time with her. I have been making things though, and, as usual am not uite sure where I am going with it! I will sort out things next week. Happy summer! x

Hello there, beautiful. Your garden is such a delight. Absolute gypsy magic. It makes me melt with happiness. We had friends over last weekend for a indoor/outdoor fete. I lit all of the string lights, colorful lanterns, and put giant flowers everywhere. Then I blew up the oversized mattresses and wrapped them in red-stain sheets and sat them in the backyard. Everyone had miscellaneous pillows to lounge on as well. With the fans going, tiki torches, and citronella candles lit — it was actually enjoyable — and not too terribly hot either. Which was nice because it contributed to the success of the gathering. People sat outside most of the night, which blew my mind. Usually there are 15-30 people crammed in my tiny kitchen and hovering around the tables. LOL.

Beautiful! Loved the post. It’s hot here on the Gulf Coast ..in the 90’s every day, but I love heat. I love the reality you make, Vanessa. Enjoy your summer.

  4. Pure magic! Thank you for sharing it with us!

  5. Michelle Lindquist says:

Oh my, Vanessa. Magical summer night garden dreaminess!!!! And then the video. I am serious here: Aside from fur photos and videos of course [ 😉 ] … one of the best and most-favorite-of-mine things you’ve ever, ever posted. Twinkling, glowing perfection. I’m so ridiculously behind on Instagram, so haven’t seen that there yet; but I absolutely gasped with wide dreamer eyes when I saw that video here. Wish it could be a whole hour and I could watch it all night long one summer evening. We’re not set up like that yet in our backyard, so that kind of beauty you create is SO loved, appreciated, and thoroughly soaked up — thank you so much for these gifts of gorgeous living you put out into the world!!! Aloha and hugs to you, sweet one! xoxo

  6. Forever Fall says:

Soooo dreamy! These pictures are magical <3 Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful things.

  7. marjorie says:

Oh this is pure magic!! We made a little faerie house under the hostas in honor of summer’s arrival….complete with a sea shell bathtub!! : ) Happy summer to you!!

  8. Sigh…
So very lovely in your Gypsy Garden with music, lanterns, and swoon…candle light.
Me thinks I could drift off to sleep here very easily.
Thank you for sharing your whimsy and magic.
And it’s suppose to hit 106 this week here in central California inland.
So, yup! We are hot here too. Our weather is so similar to high desert during the entire year.
I did an hour’s worth of yard work this a.m. while it was still below 90 degrees.
Can’t wait for the Mad Tea Party festivities!
Oh! And I adore your night garden magical video. So romantic and all that!
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa

  12. Roostah says:

The other day it poured down rain-lightning, thunder, the whole works. I watched from the office window. When the time came to go home, I walked outside; the sky was overcast, and there was this whoosh! and my brain was all “yippee it’s fall! it’s fall! feel that cool breeze! we gotta get out the pumpkins and open the windows and make piiiieeesssss…..”
….but then reason said “excuse me, brain but your synapses are confused. It’s still very much summer. Now close that window! you’re letting the AC out.”
Those little surprise weather moments that promise the things to come are sometimes my favorite. ESPECIALLY in the heat. 🙂

  13. So beautiful and bohemian!
I wish we could do that on our patio, but so far this summer we haven’t had one single warm evening, not a single dinner outside 🙁
They are saying summer is coming in July though, so that’s what we’re all hoping for. And I’m really looking forward to the Mad Tea Party! It marks the beginning of my vacation, and I could really use some happy and pretty right about now.

  14. Jennifer says:

Well hello there Miss V! It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by. Things are looking as magical as ever around there though 😉

  15. saudi says:

  18. Stunning images! Looks like a magical environment 🙂

  19. Lynda Shoup says:

Lovely way to celebrate summer! I am entranced.

  20. Roostah says:

So tell me Veevala, did you just get a big ol’ not-too-rickety ladder and commence to stringing these lanterns and lights everywhere on your own? Do your furries hold the ladder for you? 🙂 And and, extension cords, hows about extension cords- do you have a lovely way to make those disappear or make themselves scarce?
Inquiring people in the dark wanna know 😉

PS I have totes forgot to update my credit card on file with Type pad and the Treehouse is gone! EEEPS! Gotta fix that ASAP!

  21. Roooooostah, there you are!!!
Oh no, I just stood on a cast iron chair actually, haha!
So, we have a master garden extension cord in one location, that has a multi plug that all sorts of things can plug into, easy easy.
Oh NO!!! Hope you can get the treehouse back up and running 😉 Nice to seeee you!! xoxoiii

Absolutely stunning, your garden is, indeed! I love volunteer plants. I’d love for a tree to volunteer in my garden. The lights are truly magical for summer solstice. xoxo Jen
