Soldered Art Pendants

Finally, I get to share some of the arty shenanigans I have been up to…

Like new soldered pendants in my art shop.

Soldered pendants 1

I made a handful of them over the last of couple weeks.

Each one taking a bit of time, with attention to detail.

It was about time I got my soldering tools out again, wouldn’t you say?

I use a lead free solder with sterling silver.

Each pendant is double sided, encased in glass.

With the double side, it’s like you get two pendants really.

I soldered on 3/8″ jump rings that are a nice size, so that a person’s own chain can easily fit through.

My pearls fit through nicely.

Secret treat on the opposite side.

Soldered pendants 2

The pendants hang on silk ribbons…

And can be worn, used as an ornament or gifted.

Nice little gifts for you or others.

Soldered pendants 8

I am very generous with the solder.

I was explaining to Mister Lovee that I like to create a frosting effect with my solder.

There are no rough edges and there is a nice sculptural quality to them.

Soldered pendants 6

There’s that great jump ring size (3/8″).

Soldered pendants 5

The pendants have a nice weight to them, and are 2″ x 2″ in size.

So, for a pendant they are a nice size.

I jumped into my secret special silk ribbon stash for these.

Nothing like nice silk ribbon is there?

I also whipped up a new assorted card pack…

It’s called –

  1. Oh, that is pure bliss, Miss Vanessa! What a marvelous idea! I am a love of the art bead and have what I like to call the world’s tiniest museum in my basement! Your art beads will be added to my list! I love how you talk of your solder as ‘frosting.’ I gave up soldering long ago because of that effect, but I think that labeling it differently has a positive spin. Thank you for sharing your light and soul with the world. I hope these will be big sellers for you! Enjoy the day! Erin

  2. Lauren says:

Yay I was able to snatch one up!! 😉 They are all gorgeous!! Love, Lauren

  3. Kimberly says:

    Vanessa:
The pendants are absolutely gorgeous. I adore them Hope there are still a few left when I’m able to purchase!
I really love your soldering technique.

  4. Erin, you must jump back in. I go out of my way to layer it on and get that cake frosting effect. The very smooth ones, yes they are nice too, but I am partial to the flow and beads of solder frosting around like so.
When I first start making a piece, it has that really smooth finish, and I go, hmmm, no, needs more texture.
Of course, the texture has to have smooth edges, not rough or jagged at all.
    😉
Thank you for being a great far away pal!! xo

  5. Yiippppppeee Sweet Lauren!!

  6. Deborah says:

OOooooooo frosting on sweet sweet art! The Best Thing!

You’re too popular Miss V. xx

  16. Cori G. says:

Hee Hee…I bought one for me <3 <3

  17. Betty says:

Your new pendants are just so much fun! I love how you think of the solder as frosting! Not being a jewelry designer myself (at least not made of metal and solder!), your description takes my mind in another direction…what about a fantasy cake with silver frosting??
As usual, you are a delightful source of inspiration, Miss Vanessa!
    Hugs to you!
    Betty
