Snow Dogs

 How about some dog tales?

Snow tale?

Both?

Seems that…

I got snow, you got snow, we all got snow!

Snow dogs 20

Although, we only got a nice dusting that melted by 7 a.m.

Some of you are still feet deep I imagine?

Keep safe and warm, k?

I woke up at 4 a.m. thinking, something strange is up.

So, I put on my flip flops, and went outside.

Only to find myself walking in snow, whilst silent snow fell from the sky.

What bliss, that early silence of snow.

I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I made breakfast.

Squeezed some oranges.

And then got all geared up to go out with the boys…

I have the best video of Miles playing in the snow at about 3 months old.

I need to dig it up (new video at the end of this post).

I took my camera, my video camera, gloves + scarf, 3 layers, boots…

And off we went.

The snow was almost all melted, with just enough to play in a little.

Snow dogs 11

Mister frog bird feeder looks so dapper with snow on his head.

I made him so long ago, and he is still out there, birds crawling in his mouth every day.

Snow dogs 10

Someone was particularly fond of the snow.

Seemingly madly in love really.

Snow dogs 17

I think Miles smooshed his body into every patch of snow around.

Snow dogs 1

He was so delighted.

Running with his mouth to the ground, filling it with gobs of snow.

His coat gets so dark when he is wet.

Gosh, he looks like such a man dog now, doesn’t he?

Luckily he still acts like a big baby.

Snow dogs 2

I made a snow heart for Baby.

I always do when it snows.

She loved the snow like Miles does.

Snow dogs 9

We dropped it off for her…

Baby.

Seems like so long ago she was here.

Love her always.

We made our rounds, checking on things.

Tiny gazebo smashed down to the ground in the storm.

Snow dogs 16

Green tufts growing under chair.

Snow dogs 15

Matty, just standing here and there like a statue.

Long periods of time, just looking around.

Listening in snowy silence.

Snow melting quickly.

Snow dogs 18

I grilled portabella mushrooms.

Drizzled in a mixture of balsamic, olive oil, garlic powder and salt.

Grilled over flames, on med-low, 5 minutes on each side.

Snow dogs 8

They were outrageously good.

I made sandwiches with them – with avocados, spinach, tomatoes.

The works.

Awesome.

In the evening I ran around the yard with the most beautiful sunsets painted in the skies.

Snow dogs 14

That sort of sunset always takes me breath away.

It was glowing in neon.

The next day, when everyone was clean and silky, I asked for a photo op in return for a treat.

Snow dogs 13

Miles was game until I started taking too many pictures.

Then he gave me one of his faces.

Snow dogs 12

He is so hilarious.

He has these faces he makes.

I shared the one where he tucks both sides of his upper lip up a while back.

Then he tucks one of the sides of his lip up when annoyed or perplexed.

(like above)

And sometimes, he tucks his whole upper lip up in a way where you see his teeth.

It’s sooo funny!

So, there you go, an overbearing pup love post.

Snow gone, boys clean.

Green emerging.

Snow dogs 19

Could I get anymore obnoxious?

Yes yes lady, we know, you love your dogs.

🙂

I took lots of videos too.

Here’s one with me being EXTRA annoying.

With my mama dog voice in full action.

What can I say?

If you are a pet lover, you understand.

Miles could not get enough of looking at this video.

He kept standing up on my chair and staring in awe.

I love furs.

All furs.

 See you soooon!

Love, V

Sparkly heart

ps:  A word about comments…

For endless months, I have been responding to comments, in the comments section.

I have a feature where I get an e-mail showing me a comment, and when I respond to it, the person who left the comment gets an e-mail showing my reply.

However, I just found out that, this feature has not in fact been working at all for a very long time.

Which means that if you have left a comment, and I have responded, you probably never got an email notifying you that I replied.

I am trying to remedy the issue.

But, I am sad you never knew I was replying.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon🖤

Wonderful to see your SNOW! And having such a lovely time in it, your photos and descriptions of Matty rolling around having a ball have made me so happy! p.s. thanks so much for your recent comment on my comment, and hope you got my comment on your comment on my own blog – sooo confusing but so great to be in touch! from one fur mama to another, x

  2. Magickwyrds says:

Thank you sooo much for the sweet fur baby video! It really made my day- just what I needed to cheer me up! Thank you V 🙂

  3. Laura Tieri says:

What better way to start the day than with dogs!
It’s funny how Miles rolls around in the snow. They are so cute.
My dogs both came running in the room when they heard Matty barking at the birds. My big dog was watching the screen closely when I replayed the barking part & was cocking his head from side to side. He probably understood what Matty was saying because he always barks at the birds & squirrels too.
The little dachshund couldn’t see the screen & when I put her on my lap she wasn’t looking at the screen. She was only interested in licking my face. :o)

  4. Tiff says:

The pictures of Miles smooshing into the snow are hilarious & I love the video!!! Matty is such a tough guy. Seeing this makes me want to video my 2 kitties when they are chasing eachother and tumbling through the house. <3

  5. Kimberly says:

Ohhh….what a wonderful little bit of white wonderland. I love a dusting of snow in the desert.
Those pups of yours are amazingly cute and funny. They just steal your heart, don’t they? Pups and dogs and even cats sometimes. Steal away your heart.
We didn’t get a lick of snow, but we had some thunder and hail a few days ago. I am really looking forward to spring this year.

  6. Lisa Swifka says:

they are just too cute for words……I just want to wrestle around with Miles. As I was playing the video and Sadie heard it from the bedroom……jumped off the bed (her fave place now)and ran in to the other room with a low bark looking out the living room window. She can’t figure out where it was coming from! Lol! She would so love playing with your dogs!
Snow, what a concept! Those poor people on the East coast are probably hating the stuff by now…..but when it’s not a usual occurance it’s exciting.XO

  7. Sharon says:

I loved your video! What fun your babies were and yes, I understand the pet talk. I have 2 cats and talk to them all the time! Your babies are so cute. We had some snow about a week ago and it melted almost immediately. Was pretty while it lasted though.

  8. Oh, the boys! Violet really liked this. She wanted to know why they were so big. Poor girl…only used to dachshunds and chihuahuas.
Matty seems like he might have Issues. Does he have Issues?
    Miles is so sweet.

  9. Of course Matty has issues, you know that ;)))
He is awesome, and all weird in his little personality, which makes me love
him more. Miles is easy, Matty is all, why are you looking at me
swan????? I love his weirdness, but it is tough too, since he hates
everyone 😉 You know what? He is my moms favorite, Matty is,
    the brown one.
She says, Miles is amazing, and easy to love, but Matty is odd and curious,
and getting him to love you is hard, and when he does you feel all happy happy
joy joy. He has always been nice to her. So, they are in love.
And she is not an animal person. But she has a fox living in her garden
who she loves to pieces. And she is a crazy bird lady
    😉

  10. M says:

My little buddy Bonsai was barking at the video when Matty started barking at birds! It was so cute! (He’s a little wiener dog, but thinks he’s a big dog! heehee!);)

  11. Sarah says:

Love the snow dogs video-the way they play together is so lovely. Baby’s heart is so lovely too. We had a llittle snow this morning-well more than they predicted but it has gone again now. My cats don’t like it much. The first year we had Cassie she didn’t know she didn’t like it and walked bravely about, but this year she could not be persuaded to leave the house and I had to put a litter tray out for her. Then Tiger decided that it was much easier to use that than go outside! Only Lily braved it. She quite likes to chase a snowball actually so maybe they don’t all hate it!

  12. Alia says:

Snow! I saw a bit on the mountains and wondered to myself if had reached you, apparently it did! we are too far down to get any, but it is nice to see it from afar. I would love to see what our pup Mal would do in the snow. I don’t know if he has ever seen it since he was born in Phoenix and lived in Marana before we got him. I think he would like it and since he is a corgi with short stumpy legs I bet it would be adorable to watch in bound around in the snow. Hopefully someday he will get the chance!
I had noticed the comment thing a little while ago and just would check back sometimes to see if you had replied, but getting an email is much better!

  13. Cameron says:

That I think I could handle…a pretty white sprinkling of snow like that. I’m juat not a snow person….haha!
Love the pics of Miles rolling in the snow.
Sweet furry bouys you have 🙂

  14. Cameron says:

    Boys….haha! Not floating thingies ;D

  15. Super cute dogs! What a good dog, knowing the ‘back up’ commando 🙂

  16. Miss Linda says:

I love all of your photos and especially the video. All of us pet owners have a mama voice within us and it speaks loud and clear. Only a mama and her pets understand the love that is in that voice.
    Thank you.

  17. Asia says:

Aaaaah the dog is so nice:) If you want go to my blog:)
