Today feels very quiet.
Hot tea in hand, roaming around the house.
Looking here and there at little collections of this and that.
Dark skies, cold air, wind today.
Odd, but welcome.
I love weather as such.
I did all my shopping errands and seeded and top soiled before 8:30 a.m.
I just had to get out of the house.
I tossed and turned all night.
Sadness in the world makes me sad and uneasy.
Truth be told.
You too?
I'm just snooping around my own home.
Getting ready to paint.
Wondering if I should tidy up my mood board…
Nah.
Matty had a little relapse so he is back on medicine, and doing better again.
Poor boy.
He is sleeping behind me as I type.
He panics if he can't see me.
Follows me like a mad man.
I like being his mother hen.
I do.
I love being his mother hen.
I wonder what he thinks?
The more you get closer to animals, the more you are so vastly aware at how sensitive they are, and how "animal" doesn't suit them at all.
I think they might even be more sensitive than humans.
More intuitive?
Angels.
On.
Earth.
Perhaps I need a mood board, just for Matty and Miles and Baby?
Like a scrapbook page, on a wall?
I stole lots of little pink roses from the arbor out front.
Wilted lovely things.
By the way, the jar I put them in, is a jar I painted and glittered (along with 11 others), and has been outside in the rain and sun for 2 years with no loss of color or glitter.
I just made an acrylic paint wash (a little paint + a little water), brushed it on the outside of the jam jar, then sprinkled the glitter over the wet paint.
This one has even been buried, watered and dirtied in a garden bed –
Hosed off, and is still painted and glittered.
Majorly durable.
I was using them as candle holders.
(I made lavender, light pink, and light teal ones)
I guess it's safe to say, they are resilient and you should make some 🙂
I was standing in the studio a minute ago, sipping my tea, peering into this glass box.
Thinking….
Hey, I haven't noticed you in a while.
Do we become immune to our surroundings?
I am desperate for something good to read.
I am not a huge fiction fan, unless it is super good.
Well, I do like fairy tales and stories as such.
But I have a weird relationship with fiction.
Maybe it just depends on my mood?
I do quite enjoy non-fiction.
Have you read anything marvelous lately?
I picked some strawberries last night and this morning.
Firsts.
Wouldn't you know, they taste like real strawberries, in a way you never taste from store bought ones. Kind of like the tomatoes. Real flavor.
Well, my paint calls.
I wash paintbrushes ever so often.
All the time.
Washing washing paintbrushes 🙂
Oh oh, also…
I think I need to take one of my mannequins out of hiding and use her as an earring model.
For the ear jewels in my jewelry shop.
I was trying some of the earrings I make on, and thinking, you have to see them on to really get what they look like, right?
It's too hard for me to take the photos of myself…
But one of my gals has pierced ears, so I'll grab her and a wig, and take some fresh photos for the jewelry shop.
I want to steal these for myself 😉
Well, off I go, back into Wednesdayness.
Love, V
ps: Mister Lovee didn't give me a card for our 12 year celebration.
(he does so many nice things often, it doesn't matter)
I asked him about it 3 times.
Of course he is so nice, who cares about a card.
But I had to hassle him about it, because it's fun.
Anyhow, he just now came in with my "card."
He says it's a card anyways, ha!
12 times love, he says.
Spray painted on my usable card.
What the heck?
Haha!
On a container, that I can fill with some of my junk.
Something useable he says.
Can the man get any more practical?
Umm, thanks Lovee.
🙂

I’m sorry to hear that Matty had a setback, but glad the medication is working still. Poor luv. I know what you mean about animals though. As I type this, Dexter the big black cat sleeps in the chair behind me. He always has to have one eye on me it seems and also likes to follow from room to room. They are the very best and sweetest company.
LOVE the earrings!
how funny mr lovey is.. that is something my husband would do too.
hope your matty is feeling better soon.. animals just get under our skin and into our hearts.. and we just love them so.. it hurts us when something is not right with one of our furry babys!
happy day!
xo

HaHaHa…now THAT’S a card that will really sweep a girl off her feet…HaHaHaHa, too funny !! Sorry Mr Lovee 😉
Strawberry Shortcake soon !
How can anyone EVER miss that lovely skull(y) grin! 🙂
What a cute little ghostie on your bookshelf!
Tell Matty he has to get better…we’re all fretting over his health! We’re all worried for him & still praying!
My dog has been glued to my side lately. It’s been storming a lot & he is terrified of storms.
Don’t you just love homegrown food! I’ll never forget the first time I had a garden & ate my own food. The tomatoes, green beans, cantaloupes, etc. tasted like nothing I’d ever gotten in a store before. If I had lots & lots of land, I would just grow everything! If it ever stops raining here I can go get my garden cleaned up. They say it’s supposed to get down to 30 on Fri. night with a chance of snow flurries! WHAT!!! It just started to warm up! Everybody here is about ready to move. At least we’re not going to get snow like Colorado got the other day! Don’t get me wrong, I like snow…….in the winter!!!
Happy 12 years to you & Mr. Lovee!
I can’t read much fiction either but I did love “The Night Circus”. It seems kind of you…
Oh, I have had it for ages, and I cant get past the first 3 pages,
something must be wrong with me………? Should I keep on reading?
I even pre-ordered it when it came out, and still not read…… I must be
mad 😉

*Hello*
When I become immune to my surroundings, I know it’s time to mix it up.
It’s miserable and it doesn’t help at all, but I too toss all night with the evils of the world sometimes.
Can you be human and not?
Congratulations to your and your Love!
p.s. Have you read The Girl of the Limberlost? It always inspires me to create and to be a better person.
I think I haveso much stuff, that sometimes I forget to look around,
then I am like, oh hello, there you are 😉 So nice to see ya.
Oh, that sounds good…. will check into the read… thank yoU!! 😉

Seems winter is having a few last gasps around the country. We warm up and you think, well…Spring…at last! Then cold drifts in again. Sorry your Matty has had a setback. When he feels unwell he clings to you for strength and peace!
Yes, I agree I think our animal friends are so intuitive. I believe they come to us for a reason. They are here to teach, guide and love us.
As far as reading material…check out MaryJane Butters website and books. She is a kindred spirit with her love of growing things and nature. I always want to pick up and go to her beautiful farm! She brings a joyful element to cooking, sewing and her gorgeous outdoor rooms are so lovely to look at!
I’m sorry to hear Matty is feeling poorly again, really hope he picks up again soon.
Last summer I read a book called Of Bees and Mist. It was beautiful and haunting with a hint of magic.
Lol Lovee is a funny thing. 🙂
You might want to try reading “the Fionavar Tapestry” series by Guy Gavriel Kay. First book is “The Summer Tree.” Older but Great!
I’ve read something marvellous lately, The Serious Game by Hjalmar Söderberg, a classic for a reason. Don’t know what the translation is like since I read it in Swedish, but it’s a love story and a lot more. To me, it was about people locking themselves into little boxes in life instead of really living and it made me aware of the way I limit myself, and also made me understand the world a bit better. Sheesh. But seriously, this may well have been a life-altering book for me.
P.S. Did you see I changed my last name? It’s my grandmother’s maiden name and it means summer, which you can probably guess 😀 Perfect for someone who hates winter!
What you wrote about your dogs reminds me of something Henry Beston said once, that animals were “other nations”.
I too am subdued at every daily revelation of the evil that prowls the earth but you are doing your part to sow beauty and peace and it is those glimmerings on offer that I gather up, along with my beautiful girls and our own little patch of land, to hold close and ease my heart.
There’s a book (fiction) which might appeal to you: “Little, Big”. It’s an odd, rambling, dense story of a house that is many houses in one and a family intermarried with faeries.
Cheers,
D
Dana, that book sounds beyond wonderful!!!

Wow, what a great card. It looks very strong & like it holds a lot of stuff. Terrific idea. Congrats on having such a cool lovee.
Anon – ha–ha.
Now… where’s my card?
Anonymous is “like” a brave man! and “like” a whiz with neon spray paint!
You could hide the murder weapon in there…….ha ha!
I can recommend a book that I read this year. It’s “The book of lost things” by John Connolly. I bought it because of the cover. It’s like a silhouette of black against red. But the story is marvellous too. Very much of a fairytale but sometimes a little bit cruel too like real fairytales. I would like to know if you’d like it.

Oh that Mister Lovee, what are you ever going to do with him! I’m sorry to hear about Matty again, I think about him often! Oh and for a good book, it’s called Secret of Darkness by Margot Berwin. I have to really really be into a book to read it, so I don,t read many because I can barely find anything that intrigues me, but so far this one has me half way through already!
Happy Trails…..
p.s give Matty a big ole’ hug for me!
Spray paint. My spray paint stash no less :)))) hahahaa!

Oh Vanessa! Big hugs to Matty! So sorry to hear he had a relapse. Good to know the medicine is helping him again. Congrats on 12 years of happiness with Mr. Lovey! That is awesome. 🙂 Your jewelry sparkles just as you do, Miss V. Very pretty!
Congrats on your 12 years together! I do like your “card”! Sweet!
I also send best wishes to Matty for more recovery!
