Random This & That’s

Hello from a random day at AFT.

In the office, shipping parcels.

(I love sending out parcels of art, love it, packing lots of goodies as extras, hoping to make folks smile)

Random day 1

I have been busy as a bee this week.

Oh and, bees flew into my house yesterday too.

But, they didn't sting me.

We have had ever so many bees this year.

The garden has loved it.

I work side by side with them.

And have not been stung yet, knock on wood.

(although I was stung once, years ago as a kid - but a little meat tenderizer mixed with water to form a paste on the sting, cured me right up)

I have had guests, big projects I am working on, a sore ear, rain, wind.

And maybe, a little autumn weather on the horizon.

I am beginning my good-byes to the garden blooms.

Although it's still warm, whilst raining.

Thick clouds, two trees meet.

Right under the gypsy wagon.

Sun shines through.

Pretty world.

That nature world.

Random day 9

Getting ready to go out.

Random day 6

Getting dolled up is so much fun, isn't it?

Random day 5

Going here and there, and visitors too.

Random day 8

Searching through little drawers for a charger.

Random day 4

Looking for something good to read in my cabinet.

Random day 3

Mice from Mombie.

She gifted them to me this summer, plus two greys.

I kept 7 white mice and gave each fur boy a grey.

Random day 10

But they know not to touch Mama's mice.

🙂

My mom and dad came for a visit.

I streaked Mombie's hair.

Her and my dad brought more treats and baked goods than one can imagine.

Oh my.

It was a wonderful time had by all.

Of course, me being a sap, sobbed a bit when the Arthur song (love Christopher Cross) came on.

As my dad used to sing that to me as a little girl.

When you get caught between the moon and New York City….

So, I had the whole room tearing up 🙂

Nostalgia.

Of the good variety.

Matty has decided that he does love his gran and gramps.

And they love their grand-dogs back.

Of course, Miles is always ready for love.

But, Matty was so lovable he even sat on my dad's foot and cuddled up to his shin.

My dad felt so touched.

It's not easy to win Matty over.

This is the first time in 3 years that he's ever showed such love and kindness to my dad.

(he sort of always has liked his granny though)

Random day 11

These were major Dad + Matty strides.

And my dad finally got to see his sweet side.

My dad said, I never liked him til now.

Now he loves him.

Matty can do that to you.

After he decides not to eat you for lunch, and share tea and crumpets instead, you fall head over heels.

Random day 12

That's until a mouse goes missing.

Rogue mouse.

On the hunt for fame…

Random day 13

Yes, it's true.

A ridiculous mouse video, for you.

So ridiculous you will be sad you lost 2 minutes of your time, possibly, maybe.

Hopefully the moon walk will win you over.

It's quite a talent, don'tcha know 🙂

Video made by me and the boys.

All of the songs played were on the radio, as I video taped.

(except the outro and intro)

Also, not sure why the video got so pixelated, as it was crisp on my computer, but after trying to fix it for 1 hour, I gave up.

Worst little video ever 😉

I made it when I was stuck in bed this summer.

Recovering from the scary anaphylactic shock stuff.

I thought today was a perfect day to post such a random thing, haha!

Sorta funny, I hope.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

Heheeeheheheeee….Head-boppin’ to Prince! Now that’s a talented mouse!
I’m so glad I saw this post run through my twitter newsfeed. The video made me giggle and smile. I needed that today. I’ve spent the morning arranging for an art auction on my blog to help another artist friend that may end up homeless. We are trying desperately to raise money for her and her family. 🙁
Did you get any rain? It rained here last night and the morning sky opened up with beautiful blues and puffy white and gray clouds. So so so lovely. Unfortunately, I was stuck in the car, driving on the freeway home from San Diego for most of the rain last night, but this morning made the treacherous drive worth it.
And that Matty and Miles. So comfy and relaxed. Miles almost went to sleep while you were taping him, didn’t he?

  2. Laura T. says:

Girl, you have waaay too much free time on your hands! : )
Just kidding, the video was very cute. I did like the moon walking to M.J. the best!
I love things in quantity…like one mouse is cute, but 7 all together…adorable!
The weather this time of year is very weird. It was just in the 20s the other morning & now it’s going to be in the 60s this weekend.
Oh, I have a good mouse story! That 20’s morning, I looked on my patio & there was a mouse running around in circles.
It was very cold & frosty. I went out & he didn’t run away. I put gloves on & he came right in my hand & sat there.
I got a big bin & put him in with shredded paper , food & water. I took him in the house to warm up. (named him Charlie)
I thought he was lethargic & maybe sick & he might not make it.
Later on he perked up, got all bright eyed & energetic & more skittish.
Of course, I played with him & talked to him until I took him out to our shed the next morning.
It was sad letting him go. I cried. : (
I went in the shed later in the day & couldn’t see him. I started talking & calling Charlie.
Can you believe he came out & over by my feet. He sniffed my shoes & then just laid down between my feet for awhile.
My husband already calls me Dr. Doolittle & he couldn’t believe this.
I think he left the shed now & went out to make new friends!
I just got my package today from you! I love getting goodies in the mail! Thank you!

  3. Laura, you are a mouse doctor extraordinaire!! OH MY!!!!!
    Confession…..
I made that video this summer whenI was sick in bed 🙂
I wish I had gobs and gobs and gobs of time to do ridiculous fun
things. But I ask, why is there never enough time??? Does anyone
    know? 😉
Its actually just snippets of longer videos.
I mashed it up this summer and never finished uploading it to
    youtube.
So, today was the day, haha 😉
    You are amazing!!
Mouse on your shoe, all Hello Laura, hello there. Nice to see
you. Thanks for saving my life 😉
    SO awesome!!!

  4. Kim, I am off to read…. So sad… I am already worried and i have not read yet…. eeeks….
It did rain here all night – for some odd reason the rain made me so nervous. When I mormally adore it. Maybe the wind that was with it knocking things over in my yard was what was scaring me, I have been up since 3:10 a.m.
    Off to your blog….
ps: So glad you were safe driving, oh my!!

  5. Laura says:

You make me laugh! I so needed that right now. I loved your mousie video! My favorite part was Miles lying down. The music just seems to fit his expression so well. I’m always wondering where time goes and how people (like you for instance) can get soooo much done!
    have a wonderful fantabulous weekend!
    love & blessings
    ~*~

  6. Laura,
You make me laugh, you are so much fun!
I can’t get that much done, it’s an illusion 😉
    Me thinks, haha!
I heard that we are going to hear more about the “Meat” over at Laura’s. Now that I know that you are the other Laura, I can’t stop giggling.

  7. Terri says:

I wish I’d had my camera handy so I could have made a video to show you…my cat loves your mice! I cracked up when she put her nose to the screen during ‘Just Beat It.’ The timing couldn’t have been better, lol. Thanks for the smile! p.s. So happy for you that Matty and your dad have bonded
    p.s.s. LOVE little drawers

  8. Wendy says:

    Dearest Miss V,
Sooooooo funny. I was cracking up. I loved the intro to beat it dance, and the moonwalk. I dont know how you stay so quiet while filming I would have been snorting so much with laughter. Thanks for the video.

  9. Heidi Anderson says:

OMGeeeeeeeeeeee! Vanessa! 😀 Ahahahhaaa! The head bop- I am just laughing so hard- ahahaha, those mice are adoreable, love it!

  10. Well, I, for one, enjoyed your little video. I thought of you, in a delirium, in your sickbed, playing moviemaker. You are such a silly girl. I’m glad one good thing came of that mystery illness.

  11. lisa says:

Well the mouse dance made me smile, but the boys made my heart melt. Why can’t everyone love furs the way they deserve?
    xo,
    Lisa

  12. Lisa, you know what I think?
its a gift to break through that human mind wall, and see furs for what
    they really are.
    Angels.
Have you ever seen the movie Hachi???
    Oh my.
    Sobs…..
Heres to fur love 😉 Hoooray!

  13. Matty looked so IRRITATED in the beginning.
How MEAN of you to tease them with the mice.
I like whatever station it is you’re listening to.
    Mice like 80s hits.
Look at all your fancy schmancy makeup.
Only the best will brush Vanessa’s lids.
If we lived closer we could dress up in ridiculous
things and have tea. Or lunch. Or hit Goodwill.

  14. Tracie says:

Yeah my Flea is like Matty….not always nice. In fact he lies. He’s a liar. He wiggles and smiles and makes you think he likes you then GRRRRRRROOOOOOWWWWL! But he’s always loved his Grand Mom and Dad, and his girlies….and thank goodness his groomer. I bet he and Matty would be best friends or worst enemies…..

  15. Theresa says:

That mouse has some stylin’ dance moves!!!! LOL You are still in the final throes of summer and we here had a BLAST of winter! Twelve inches of snow fell in my little corner of the world…I posted some photos of the winter wonderland. It is nearly melted now…tis typical New England weather! Your furries are adorable, as always, and I am glad Matty played nice with your poppa. Such a beautiful boy – both of them are, actually. Have a great weekend! xoxo

  16. Laura,
You will die. Lovee and I are rolling laughing.
That is Mattys nice face. Imagine what his mean face looks
like? I mean, really really mean.
Gosh I love that ornery little love ball. If I pull him to me and
kiss him when he doesnt want, he makes proper Exorcist noises at me. But
    I kiss him anyway.

  18. SNOW!! Oh my!! It was 91 here on Monday. It feels like
cold will never arrive :)) If we get snow, it is usually in
February. I am off to peek at your snow Miss Theresa 😉
Although – a cold front is moving in and it rained all night and was scary
    windy today.

  20. Susan Dietz says:

So funny, your little video. Thanks for the giggle. I was quite impressed by the moonwalk. :)Your golden baby resting on the pillow was just the sweetest. It’s always a treat to have snuggles with mama time! Xo

  21. Linda Diane. says:

Such a sweet, sweet post, Vanessala. You and I are kindred spirits in getting emotional over things. Thinking of your crying over hearing the song your daddy used to sing to you–the thought of that has me tearing up right now! I am still my Mama and Daddy’s little girl–no matter how old I get.
I love that Matty warmed up to your dad!
Are you SURE that your pups know not to touch Mama’s mousies? My two would absolutely not care in the least that they were mine! Ha! Your mousies are very cute, and I must say that I got a big smile out of that video. I’m a sucker for stuffed rodents lovin’ them some “Beat It.” : D

  22. Rhonda Roo says:

Ok now what does it say about me that I have watched this video 3 times now? HAH HAH HAH OHMAHGERSH i loved the 80s mouse! He was clearly moved by the Cyndi Lauper song. I think he needs a wardrobe. I see a headband a la jimi hendrix in his future. I’m pretty sure he’d be the star of lip sync karaoke Friday nights at the local cheese dive. He did Night at the Roxbury SO WELL it was haunting.
    Heeheeeeeee
    {Clearly your fur babies understand that GIRL WHO LOVES US is sometimes CRAY CRAY. }
    LOL!! fun fun!! xoxoxo Roostah
PS that first pic makes me happy, i dont know if its the pretty orderliness of artsy things or colors on white? Anyway, it is purdy.

  23. Kelly says:

Is it weird that after watching your mice, I am hungry for cheese and maybe a Nut Cracker video! I am sooo glad we got rain and the air feels cleaner and it feels a bit chilly and winter like! I’ll bet its a good time to enjoy family and other activities while the garden takes a break Vanessa! Yes, lovely tea weather!
Ohhh so glad Matty and your Daddy are Buds. <3

  24. Being a great fan of mice, I loved your video! How can one be a fan of mice?! I want to run out and buy one right now. My sister and I each had one when we were kids. Lo and behold, one of them had 9 babies all at the same time. My father made us get rid of the mice then. I still haven’t forgiven him for that!

  25. RJ says:

That video is so silly it is Fun. You’d be a Dangerous woman with finger puppets! Matty looks especially handsome in the video. I’m glad you’re dad finally won him over.

  26. Miss Linda says:

Little mouse is an awesome dancer. He had me smiling during the whole video…Oh what fun your having with your fury friends…Glad mom and dad were there to see all of you and it is good that you all had a good time. Enjoy.

  27. MIss Linda Diane, I am always so touched by your relationship with your mom and dad, so so so lovely!!
Oh this is so funny, Matty doesn’t even try to touch the mice, and Miles puts his chin in the seat next to them, but does not dare take one. He just looks at them.
The mice have not been stolen by either of them for over 4 months. You are right, this is unusual, come to think of it.
These boys amaze me all the time. If I say no to something, they look at the thing in fear and don’t touch it.
My friend Laura says that when I am being serious I have a scary lady voice. Which I have come to learn is true.
I am not trying to be scary, but I get really serious and my voice drops. I am sure this must be freaky to anyone who knows me, eeeeks!
It’s like, Mini Mouse turning into Cruella Deville, I’m sure, haha!!
    Love, Vanessa

  28. Kelly, it is cold here today!! Can you believe it? The blooms in the garden are loving it – plus the rain. I think if we have a freeze, that will be the end day for them. And hopefully they will all self seed for next year, yay!
I wonder how much cooler it is where I am than where you are? What is your elevation?
It gets much colder where I am, than in Tucson, even though I am only 40 – 50 mins from downtown.

  29. Roooooooooostah!! No no, wait, it is the other way aroung. The girl who loves them is sometimes sane sane. And always crazy locks. Bwahahahaaa!
They totally need a wardrobe, those mice!!!
When the office is tidy, it’s a happy place to work in, I tell ya 😉
    Looooove, V

  30. William, my mom got all the mice at Ikea, and I think they are 99cents each. Was that dangerous info for me to give you? I see hundreds of mice headed your way 😉
    hahaa!
Oh your dad – that must have been so sad as kids.
When I was a kid a giant white mouse with blue eyes had tons of babies in our dollhouse. My mom freaked and wanted the place properly sanitized and exterminated, and so my dad’s helper/gardener finally found the mama and killed her.
I was screaming and crying and screaming more and freaking out that she was killed. I was begging them not to kill her.
I can still see myself standing in the giant sandbox area, outside of our big barn dollhouse…..totally coming unglued.
    Screaming.
Boy, that was so traumatic I still think about it.
Poor mouse. I hope she is in mouse heaven, sigh….
Alas, now we can have all the stuffed mice we want, thanks to Ikea.
    🙂

  31. Oh finger puppets!!!
Well, I have been known to draw people on my fingers when bored.
This is usally when sitting in line for something, or waiting for a play to begin at a theatre.
    🙂

  32. Isn’t he though? He needs to learn some new moves, me thinks 😉

  33. dena miller says:

    Miss Vanessa,
    I adore your mouse video…super cute I say🖤
    ~~Hugs,
    Dena

  34. Oh! Gosh! You are a riot with the mouse in the video! Vanessa’s original Mouse Keeteers! (not spelled right!) M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, Oh, you know the song!
    So funny!
So terrible about the white mama mouse in the doll house, though. Probably someone’s lost pet.
    Happy creating!
    Miss Teresa

  35. Oh…what fragrance is in the larger parfume bottle from Paris? I adore White Shoulders and also Shalimar.

  36. BTW…that is the most beautiful stormy photo of the trees and grey clouds.

  37. Annalee says:

Teehee! I loved your dancing mouse video… are your two boys are so sweet & cuddly! =D
Perhaps I love you dancing mice because the various stuffed animals aroung my house dance like that too… o_O
Hope you are having a good weekend! =D
    XOXO

  38. Chris says:

Okay, are you kidding?! I laffed my ass off! I have no ass now!!
Look at those lovely boys. I’m so glad Matty warmed up to them. I want to see Mombie’s hair!!
This is going up on my favorite post gadget. Yes!

  39. I love your video… in particular the slow movement to time after time. The moon walk was good, too. Is Miles just laying in the background while the mouse gets his groove on?

  40. Yep 🙂
