Paint & Pretty Things

February brings out the extra ruffly girl in me.

I love how the buzz of Valentine's day kicks out the last of the holiday blues.

Doesn't it?

I love holidays.

I don't care if they are commercialized, that has no bearing on if I like them or not.

I just adore the light-hearted feelings they impart.

That's all.

Plain and simple.

Like ruffled petals.

The last time I saw my dad he grabbed my phone, which has a floral phone case, and said, wow you are sooo feminine!

It made me laugh.

It was something I hadn't realized, ridiculous, but true.

Then I was like, oh my goodness, I am one of those lace loving frilly poof girls!

And it took me a moment to realize my reality.

Hahaha!

I like glitter and crepe paper, ruffles and pink.

Oh my!

Who knew?

Did you know?

How do you feel about pink and ruffles?

Yay or nay?

I happen to also love rustic and modern and simple.

(and more)

But ruffles win in my house, I guess?

So does vintage and antique china.

What can I say?

Paint and pretty things 7

Scallops and pretty things and hobnail get this magpie's attention.

Curious little things!

Sun light through blue glass makes me happy too.

What about you?

I adore sea glass as well.

Isn't it so special?

But that's another tale.

Tonight I have paint and pencil out.

Faces coming to life.

Fluttering paper dresses.

Paint and pretty things 12

Telling me little things.

Such tiniest little face details I can hardly focus.

Ballet days.

Painting this and that.

And sneaking away to have tea and be inspired by carnations.

Pretty little tea things inspire me so.

Are you into vintage or antique hobnail and tea things?

I just loooooove those beautiful old antique stores filled to bursting with such goodies.

I love peeking around shelves for hours.

So many little treasures to admire.

Stories they hold.

I find it so relaxing.

Now that I own so many ahem, treasures, I only bring home things I absolutely adore.

Which is quite fun in itself.

To only bring home the most special little thing.

Or sometimes, nothing at all.

Find any fun things out on thriftventures lately?

I think I'll go into town tomorrow.

But for tonight, paint waits for me…

Hope you are doing wonderful!!

Happy February 🖤

Looove, V

Sparkly heart

I love looking for little crystal vases in various sizes and making little gardens on a mirrored turntable. So much fun for me and the fun is in the hunt to find different styles and sizes. I also like looking for white ceramic baskets for Easter. I have to be careful because my collecting can become an obsession. But I do love it.

  2. Your blog post is full of love and light! Sigh….
I see you have more pretty paper doll girls in the works, soon to be finding their way into your Etsy shop. I am always so excited to see what your latest creative adventure has led you into.
I had fallen in love with Burmese glass during the early 1970’s, but alas! The prices were so over-inflated even back then, I knew I could never afford any. It is an opaque translucent yellow glass, with a frosted look and with a flush of pink at the edges of ruffled beauty. I once went to an antique store in Long Beach, CA where a very, elderly lady had an entire collection in her antique store/home, and it was where she lived too. She must have had over 500 pieces of priceless Burmese Glass, some for sale but most of it in her collection. I remember my grandmother and I walking into her shop and just being gob-smacked by it all, and we accidentally walked into her home where the door was actually open, and she got so mad! She was just a fussy old lady guarding her hoard. I wonder where in the world her collection ended up, as to this day it is extremely difficult to find Burmese Glass anywhere! Maybe they buried her with it all! Ha!
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa

Don’t worry I am super into frills, and glitter, and flowery things too, and I am not really even that girly! It is all just the best. Hope you are doing well!

Although I am not into frilly frills or pink (over the years my views of pink have softened some ~ hate is such a strong word . . . )bright glimmering crystal a rainbow of colors and sun shining through to bounce off the walls makes me weak in the knees! Love reading your so creative posts.
    Cheers!

To answer your question . . . . YAY!!! (Not nay.) I mostly love blues, greens, aqua, turquoise, etc., the colors of the sea (and I love sea glass with a passion), but pink would be my next favorite color. And yes, ruffles and scallops and hobnail, oh my! And even more yes to sunlight through blue glass! Nothing like it. And yes, yes, just to being a girl! What a lovely, lovely post, and I was THRILLED to see new paper dress ballerina ladies. I am squealing with delight here!!!! 🙂
