Of Wishes & Stars & Moons {Free Printable Treat}

When I first open my eyes from sleep, I seperate my dream thoughts from real life.  Trying to make sense of things.  My groggy eyes look up around my room, and reality flows in.  I think about the world at large and all its happenings, as well as the world at personal levels.  I think of friends, of loved ones, of people I don't know at all.  Then I make little wishes…

The Stars 2

This week, with each morning, I have craved stars and moons hanging around my room.  I have envisioned them hanging from ceilings, from mirrors…

I have thought about how seeing stars when I wake up will fill me with hope and good feelings.

How each star could hold a wish.

So, I set out to make some moons and stars, and promptly decided to share them with you…

The Stars 11

I took me a couple of days to whip these up.  So I am extra excited to be sharing them with you.

All you have to do is print, cut –

And,

"Wish with all your little heart…"

The stars 3

Then you can be on your way to making anything you want with them.

Print them out on card stock, for best use, and start creating.

You can write your wish on the front, or back, or keep your wish to yourself

🙂

I made a couple of star and moon garlands for my room…

(I hot-glued my stars to ribbon to make my garlands)

The Stars 1

I then decided I wanted to make a little star and moon mobile for my sleeping nook.

I found a round rusted metal thingamajig outside, which worked great.

The Stars 12

I wrote my wishes on each star, and then covered both sides in craft glue and glitter.

More ideas for the base of your own mobile are –

The wire part of an old lamp shade.

Or perhaps, 4 sticks tied at the corners to form a square?

Or even, a sturdy wire, shaped in a circle to your liking?

The options are endless.

These also make fun and easy homemade gifts.

I would love to receive a wish garland, wouldn't you?

OH OH!

Another fun thing…

I got a wee bit carried away, and decided to make

Fairy Wands with my stars.

The Stars 9a

I just found some sticks outside, wrapped and tied ribbons to them, and hot glued a glittered star to the end.

Isn't that fun??

You can make oodles of these for a party or any ole reason.

I mean really, who doesn't need a magic wand every now and then?

😉

The Stars 5

I was playing with my wands, on my patch of winter rye grass outside the office (which I so enjoyed all winter), when Matty and Miles came over to see what was going on…

The Stars 13

Matty very politely sniffed, and went on his way.

However…

The Stars 4

His little brother…

The Stars 6

Felt that…

The Stars 7

He really needed his very own magic wand.

Of course, what puppy doesn't?

Silly me.

The Stars 8

But, when I explained to him that it wasn't for eating, he gave it back.

😉

He has been so cute, walking around with missing front baby teeth.

Big boy teeth on their way.

So, there you have it.

Stars and Moons.

And wishes too!

For you.

With love, from me.

A Sparkly Heart see you soon

ps:  Thank you ever so much for your Miles thoughts.  He feels great!

This is a stuffed rabbit sent to Baby by Auntie C, who gave it to Matty, who gave it to Miles 🙂

  1. What a very lovely thing! Lately I’ve found all my wishes coming true – wonder if it will continue? Will perhaps fill my wish garland with wishes for others?

  2. Linda Diane says:

How sweet of you, Vanessa, to make things for us! I really must make a garland. I love them, but I’ve never made one except for at Christmas time with fake greenery! Ha! I like the dreamy garlands like this. Beautiful and sweet.
So glad Miles is better. He looks so cute with that stuffed animal in his mouth! My furboy LOVES stuffed animals. He has even surprised me before by showing up with an “unauthorized” one in his toothy grip. Yes, sometimes he gets hold of one meant to be gifted to a human. It’s funny how the way he wags his tail and the look on his face make me feel that he knows he has gotten hold of forbidden fruit. Alas, I sadly have to pry it from his little mouth! I don’t leave them within his reach on purpose! He does have some of his own, though. We make sure of that!

  3. Kim says:

Thank you so much for the sweet stars and moons!! What a lovely idea. I might be in my late 20’s now, but everynight I try and find a star, and with the first star I see, I recite: “Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish…” and you know the rest. I still love reciting that and still wish on my first star. And now with your little stars and moons, which I will hang in my art room, I can do that during the day too 🙂
I am so happy that Miles is doing much better!!
    Take care!!
    Kim

  4. OH! I love everything you created with your moon and star designs. How magical! I was actually thinking of making myself a magic wand the other day, just so I can go around touching things and making wishes of magic in the air…just to keep the gremlins out! All I want is positive thoughts and vibes floating around in my fairy realm! So a magic wand should do the trick…so now I can use your wonderful download of goodies and sprinkle glitter all over the place with tons of wishes! Thank you for your whimsical touch!
Looks like Miles is going to be just like Matty with his stuffed toys to play with.
    Glad Miles is feeling better.
may your day be filled with magical fairy dust and wishes come true!
    XXOO
=^..^= (and the Cheshire Cat is getting anxious for the Mad Tea Party to arrive!).

  5. Sarah says:

    Glad Miles is ok! x

  6. Pat says:

  12. thank you for your generous gift Vanessa, I need a wish or 2 granted at the moment. Seeing your boys made me smile and cheered me up. I collect wands, no idea why, but just started a couple of years ago. A silly idea that makes me smile. hugs xxxx

  15. Rhonda Roo says:

Stars are awesome, as is the moon…oh! you could do a lucky charms garland and add the horseshoes and diamonds and hearts and clovers too! :)(whaddya mean i am too old to be eating cereal with marshmallow shapes in it?) ;p
and i am thinking maybe KING MILES was thinking it was his sceptor-of-a-wand-thingy, the kind he gets to knight peeps with, maybe? i love the wand. i want one. i have to go find a stick now!

HOW did you KNOW! that I needed something to glitter!? I really needed something to glitter. And isnt’ a mobile or a garland a great idea? Because my ceiling is getting almost no use at all! (I mean, since I took down my Captain jack Sparrow poster)
    Thank you!

  19. Amisha says:

Great ideas! And Miles looks so adorable with his own wand, now he needs a magician’s cape!
And thank you for sharing such goodies.

  20. Alia says:

I really wanted to make this for my window seat nook! However I realized I didn’t have any card stock, or glue, or color ink for my printer….so I went to the store, but all the stuff I needed was too much to spend on a craft project at the moment, so I couldn’t do it 🙁 sad times. Thanks for creating it though. Hopefully I will be able to make it eventually!

    Hi-
I saw this post (Link above) about doll houses and thought of you and yours. Somehow after my first dog died (of Lymphoma) in October I found your site and fell in love with your dogs. I pop in to see how things are going with you all the time and of course have fallen for little Miles too. Now my 2nd dog just passed (from hemangiosarcoma) on Saturday and I have hope that someday I will be able to welcome another furry love into my life. Thank you for bringing lots of bright spots into my days! Blessings to you and yours,
    ruthinks

Hello pretty girl with the stars and moons! That video a couple of posts back was fabulous…makes you want to go out and do everything! We are all little girls aren’t we?
Glad Matty is good now…! Its taken me ten or so minutes to catch up on your last few posts, I’ve been nutso busy in life and missed you. No soup? Will you post it for the world? Your soup? Puh-lease??? Since you mentioned it I’ve wanted to try it.
I baked carrot wheat muffins earlier before meeting some girlfriends for dinner…the whole house smelled like cinnamon.
I am that girl, constantly looking for my teensy rock that was just, right, there!
    xoxo
