When the sun is warm and healing, with spring twirling in the air…
What better way to celebrate, than by having a tea picnic?
Lemonade rose and treats invited too.
Beckoned by a little knoll of wild chamomile, we mark our spot.
It seems there will be much wild chamomile all around the garden this year.
Candy sweet, looking forward to the blooms.
The earth is cool, cold even.
The sun a lovely teeter between 79’F & 80’F.
Glorious.
Delicious.
Daffodils slowly open up.
Yes, spring is definitely peeking in, in this high desert land.
And so I say, or rather ask?
To Mister Lovee.
Meet for tea?
And so, we agree.
We sit in the shade, cool ground under sheet.
Hot tea, such a treat.
Am I rhyming?
I bring blueberries…
So sweet.
And bran muffins…
As we sip and…
On occasion, just for fun…
We clink clink.
Because we’re silly and light-hearted like that.
Muddy nosed Matty steals a treat, or two or three.
Muffins.
He loves them.
Valentine chocos trickle in.
We sit and chat and look up at the blue sky.
Some of us nap.
Snoring even.
What a wonderfully impromptu tea picnic this turned out to be.
Food for the soul I’d say.
Wouldn’t you?
I admire the lemonade roses.
As I sip 3, 4, 5 cups or more.
It was lovely.
When it’s all done…
Someones stays behind, to clean up the crumbs.
I think sometimes, we don’t realize how taking a detour as such in our day can lift the mood.
Or how much we needed a little time to just be.
Have tea, talk about nothing.
Watch clouds go by.
Little mood lifters are so necessary.
Disconnecting and just being in the moment.
Do you ever feel anxious, worried or sad?
Those are the times, I often find…
That the soul is saying, give me a break.
Take me out to buy flowers.
Let’s sit outside and have tea.
Let’s go book shopping.
Or people watching at a patio cafe’.
We forget to listen to our hearts, our own little needs.
To do.
To take breaks.
Life passes by so quickly.
Without warning.
It just drifts, drifts, drifts.
With so many little moments such as these, there for the taking.
Asking us, begging us…
To enjoy a little moment.
Give yourself a break.
Those moments refuel and refresh.
I know they do for me.
And I do say, I must do it more often myself.
Today lightened my skip.
Clink Clink!
Love, V
ps:
Today when I was in the shower the New Age station was playing a beautiful tune.
I was lucky enough to get to write it down…
Ruby in Zoisite…
Thought I’d share it with you <3

I’m sighing deeply at your wonderful pictures! I think I will close all the blinds & pretend it’s the same over here!
We’re still recovering from the 18 inches of snow we got plus now the cold. It was 11 below this morning but right now it’s a whopping 7.7 outside! It was sunny today, that was nice! Our power went out Sunday morning because the weight of the snow was bringing branches down on the power lines. Luckily it went back on before all the cold could seep in. Luckily our gas fireplace can run on batteries too! It’s supposed to be 40 on Saturday! Whee! That seems warm!
I absolutely love the cup with the flowers on the bottom!!! I don’t think I have ever seen one like it!
I can’t wait for Spring so we can start eating outside again!
Ooooh how perfectly lovely Miss Vanessa!… your furry guests are so adorable, I just loooovve them!… oooh, now Tessy wants to come to the desert for tea with those handsome lads… she is a very proper English Pointer, she asked that I tell you… and she would wear her flowery hat, but of course… love seeing Spring arrive in your gorgeous desert… and what a lovely way to welcome her arrival, with a tea… all of your vintage teacups just make me swoon… and your little helper cleaning up is sooo cute!… as is Maddy and her muffins!… tomorrow is Princess Tessy’s birthday and we are having tacos… she requested that… but today… I shall prepare some tea, gather up some treats… and sit in our glorious sunshine too and “just be”… xoxo…
Now that is exactly what I would call a glorious picnic — and I can tell the company was quite divine. Might be a few months before I do one of my own, though!
oh vanessa – that picture a sweet furry snout on the ground. I love that.
What a wonderful post–as i sit here in Missouri in the cold with snow outside my window–I just escaped into your lovely tea party with the beautiful china. Awww….
I’ve always adored picnics. all kinds. I like eating outside. I live in the south and the weather promises to be 70 on Sunday. I will be working in my yard preparing it for picnic days and flower watching. Thank you for a lovely post. It was quite enchanting.
Sorry I spelled your name wrong little Matty!… I DO know what it really is… doggie kisses… xoxo…
Swoonville. Just the idea of a tea picnic makes me think of the word lollygag…you know? But in a good way, not like being behind but choosing to take it easy. I think that’s what lollygag should mean.
Ok that rose is the most gorgeous rose in the history of roses EVER. That is…lemonade you say? Wowsie.
Now I’m singing tea for two.
Now I’ve stopped. You can unplug your ears. 🙂
I don’t think my fur babes would have anything to do with dainty china. I think they would prefer a punch bowl. Each. Sllluurrrppppp! Gotta work on the etiquette factor. 😉
XOXO Veevalalalala!!!
I love that lemonade rose…it’s so gorgeous!
Tinkling of tea cups…a very romantic afternoon for you and Mr Lovee.
It was 77 degrees here today, and was 78 yesterday…hoping for rain this evening through Sunday. We need rain desperately!
New Age music is so soothing…thanks for sharing!
hugs,
and candy kisses
Miss Teresa
Vanessa,
Lovely tea things….lovely idea, now I think I’ll take a moment to make tea in my favorite tea pot and spend a few moments being thankful for all I have!! Thanks for reminding me I should 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Teresa
sugar, spice and whatever’s nice
I’m with you, sistah! We only live once!
It saddens me how many people in my life think it’s frivolous to do nice things for oneself. They look down on me for it, as if I should be spending my time differently. But it’s MY TIME, right? And in the end, I will look back and smile at a life well lived because I loved myself enough to grant my little wishes and whimsies when I could. It fills me up, so that I have more love to share with others, even with the naysayers. I hope someday they “get it.”
I do love impromptu tea picnics such as this.
And daffodils soon will even be blooming in Oregon,
maybe next week. Now you have inspired me to stop
for tea.
I love this post and love all the pictures. That sounds like such a nice little tea gathering.
And you have daffodils already. I love watching for them to start poking through the ground.
Lady V, I can only dream of sweet warm weather. Here in New York, it has been nothing but snow, snow and more snow. I do love snow, even I am getting weary of it. Looking at your picnic, I can imagine those warmer and green days to come.
I adore your unique nail polish! Gold with star sprinkles…working hard on those Paper Doll Girl canvases!
What a pretty, pretty teapot that is!
Your reminder to take time for ourselves is a good one, such an easy thing to forget. Today my break to relax and re-charge was sitting down to read this post (a few days late) with a mug of tea. And I thought you might want to know that.
: )
Like some others, the view out my window is lots (and lots!) of snow at the moment (which is okay, I like winter), so it was amazing to see daffodils actually *in bloom* out your way. (Hang in there, everybody who is still digging out!)
Oh, and Roostah, don’t stop singing, I thought you sounded great and I joined in as soon as you mentioned the song. ; )
Thank you, Vanessa, for such a cheering post!
~Jenn
P.S. – Soooooo excited to see you working on paper dress girls!!! They look beautiful!!!

In a message dated 2/10/2015 11:10:04 P.M. US Mountain Standard Time,
Sweet, lovely and romantic all at once. Clink clink, indeed! I loooove picnics, and miss the ones we used to have in Hawaii at a favorite park. Must find a new picnic spot here in Florida (although I have picnicked here by the sea — I’ll never forget the chilly but sunny winter day I sipped tomato-basil soup on the beach). This post is a great reminder that one can picnic anywhere, like in their own backyard or even on the living room floor. Love that the furs joined you, and more than anything, I have to say that I adore the photo of the doggie nose in the grass most of all!!! :))) And love that brand of canine vacuum you have — where DID you find it? It/he looks so efficient, heehee!
