Hello my friends!
The sunniest days of the year are upon us.
The taste of warm breeze and petal air swirls madly.
The first round of roses has gone as a second starts to turn up.
Hollyhocks and cosmos jump in just in time.
We've had the most scrumptious evenings.
It's been downright chilly at night in the desert and very warm in the day.
Perfect chaise lounge weather for tanning legs and reading novels at sunset.
The rabbits tried to obliterate the hollyhocks so I made open top cages and voila.
The hollyhocks are saved.
Precious paper ruffled heirlooms.
Love them so.
Tea party season is on my mind.
I'm coming up with dates and ideas.
The veggie garden was gobbled again this year.
However, the tomatoes are okay so far.
There must be about a hundred out there, yippeeee!
And up go the fairytale pumpkin vines.
I lost them last year to javelinas breaking in.
These are the last of my own seeds from my 6 or 7 times pumpkin grandbabies.
Fingers crossed that they don't get munched!
We watch and wait and let cherry tomatoes burst in our mouths.
There is nothing like the flavor of a fresh organic tomato right out of the garden.
Flavor like no other.
And so, now we enjoy the garden shift from spring to summer.
So much to do, so much to do.
I've been major spring cleaning.
Shipping out the creatures from the last post with lots of love.
Painting, spending a couple days a week in the city.
Just changing my scenery up, antiquing, going to cafes.
It's great, I love it.
I love the reboot by escaping the country here and there.
It's sooooo important to do things you love from time to time.
I love the country solitude, I need that too.
So, I'm feeling lucky I've been doing both, finding that balance.
I need my antiquing & junking, and most shops are dog friendly.
The one thing is though, I have so much stuff, that now I just enjoy looking and only buy something that I might find utterly spectacular.
Miley (golden) comes with me.
Matty (brown dog) is too mean and doesn't like people so I can't take him.
But Miley is a joy to all and loves on every single person he can.
I adore Matty soooo much, I wish that he was easier for his own good.
Breaks my heart really.
But he is who he is, and we let him be his weird little self.
He's happiest in his little world, guarding his kingdom.
The hatter and him go out for burgers, wrestle, play wild dog games a lot, and bonus, have the same personality so all is well with the world, hahaha!
I'm glad they hold down the fort so Miley and I can go play.
Miley had a bath today, what a job!
But he looks crazy handsome, just in time for a nice outing.
Now I'm just babbling nonsense.
So, I'll say, have a fabulous weekend!!
3 days of fun, wooo hoooo!
Be safe.
See you soon.
Love, Vanessa

Its been warm and muggy and rainy here… went to turn on the air condition for the first time and wouldn’t you guess it…it didn’t work..so had that fixed… I’m glad to see June come… that means i’am one month closer to Fall… I’m a Fall girl…. Well V… pop in again soon…. Hugs! deb
Dear Double V,so happy things r going well in your magical world. It is beginning to get hot n humid, here in East Texas,n the beach is calling my name. So,I’m trying to get the motor home ready to head for Florida, for a month.Shelling is one of the great pleasures of life!Eating fresh seafood, daily isn’t so rough, either!!But,before I do,tomorrow I’m going with my lil darlings,to see the new Alice in W.Can’t wait!I always read your new posts, then go back a second time to drool over your china,n flowers. It makes my heart happy,to see all your beautiful dishes.Where do u find it all?I have quite the collection, myself, but not any, even close to your designs.Wish I was there, nothing like plucking a fresh tomato off the vine, then, eat it,juices running down your arm!!YUM!! Blessings,Ceci
Yikes Veevalalala!
My first experience with javelinas was when they invaded the spot where an old beau and I were camping on the Rio Grande! FYI – they *will* eat your spaghetti and garlic bread too! (Javelinas, not the beau 😉 and to their credit, they left the vino alone, thank goddess- could you imagine what a bunch of drunken marauding javelinas would’ve done to our campsite?? ayayayayai!)
Anyway yay Yay YAY for hearing you mention the Tea Party! I’m ready to jump back into bloglandia and live. Can I tell you something? Facebook is yuck in my opinion! I mean, it is helpful for keeping up with friends and family miles away, but it shouldn’t replace actual conversations with them, which sadly has happened a lot, it seems. How can it be that with texting and snapchat and everything else I talk to mi familia less and less because everyone’s sooo busy? 🙁 And so I’m weaning myself from FB, now with even more of a quickness because oh my goodness I am tired of political stuff hahaha!
My friends in bloglandia are artists and storytellers, creative day dreamers, positive energy givers and good juju well wishers….more of THAT every day please and thank you! 🙂
OK OK I do LOVE instagram too. EYE CANDY. 🙂
Annnnyhooooo long story longer….I’m excited about a tea party and I want to drink from THAT gorgeous cup.
And yay for you getting out and shaking it up! It’s the best way for me to recharge my batteries. Stepping outside my “comfort” zone. Sometimes when people say stepping outside of their comfort zone they mean jumping out of airplanes and mountain biking. I just mean deviating from my normal routine in some way, nothing too drastic! 😉
I did that the other day — we have a lot of amazing locally owned cafes, and there’s this wonderful trend here — the cafes support local artists big time, so the walls are filled to the brim with inspiration! It’s hard not to write in a café! You and Lovee and Miles and Mateo 😉 should come visit us. Then our fur pups and your fur pups could play, and we’ll give you the front forty to hook us your gypsy wagon and garden — 100 year old oak trees and running water and a REAL fairy circle!! And then we can visit cafes and vintage stores by day (I too love the trend of allowing doggies to come explore — we have quite a few open air spots and we joke that Loki, our wolf hybrid, should run for president as he is THAT friendly. He will kiss a baby in a heart beat and has never met any dog or human he doesn’t like. We can’t be in any hurry if we take him with us anywhere!) 🙂
And then by night we can make music and dance! We don’t have a La Pianola (YET!) but we have three keyboards, a drum set (and all manner of drums and percussion instruments from other cultures), a glockenspiel, and several acoustic and electric guitars and effects pedals and whirligigs and an upright bass (Mona)—–say. I think I have an idea for my MTP post! 😉
Plucking tomatoes and eating ’em like grapes is almost as good as an-ice-cold- tomato-with-real-sharp-cheddar-cheese-on-homemade-wheat-bread-good! 😉
I envy your reading-in-the-sun tanning your legs — un/fortunately we have lots of tree coverage which is GREAT but it makes it tough to grow stuff and get tan. BUT the great thing about Florida is you’re never ever over 50 miles away from water!
Holy cow! Who is rambling now???? 🙂 :} 😐

Greetings to you, Dearest Dear Vanessa!
I am happy to see that your desert paradise is well underway for the year! Mine is just getting started! The porch garden is filled with my favorite bright pansies and now I have baby morning glory and nasturtiums growing as well! Our tomatoes are weeks away from giving us any tomatoes, but the plants seem happy enough for now. We’ve only had one hot day so far and that was yesterday, but hoping for more. It has gotten so lush and green here in Maine all of a sudden, so it’s really lovely. It also makes me super happy to see you chatting about the blog party, as it has become one of my favorite summer activities, sitting on my porch with my laptop, working on my always extensive blog post!!!
Wishing you a most lovely Start of Summertime Weekend, Dear V!
Sending biggest hugs as always,
Betty
Happy rainy afternoon here, Vanessala! The colors in that first photo are just beautiful together!
We are growing more in our yard this year, and I so enjoy checking to see if anything is blooming or producing veggies or fruit! We also have lots of herbs. We don’t have a Vanessa-size number of plants growing, but we enjoy what we have!
That’s so nice that you get to take Miles into some shops with you. I just love to find a shop with an official furry mascot I can pet. I like kitties, too, but I am particularly a dog lover!
Awesome photos as usual. You are so talented in everything you do. Just getting started on my pot gardens. Tomorrow is purchase and getting them planted day. Flowers and herbs.
I love how you take such great care of your fur babies and how you adore all creation! Cheers my friend, to LIFE!
Pumpkin grandbabies….you’re adorable! Not sure if I’ll be able to grow any this year. We shall see what happens. Matty, poor dear. He is who he is. You’re right. My cat doesn’t like strangers. He hisses and has actually attacked some visitors. Eeks. He is kind of an old lady cat, really. I’m the old lady. Hehehehe…..yes indeed. You always make my heart flutter with joy. I love reading how you live your life. xoxoxo Jen
