It was grey and cold.
Then, the brightest goldest ray of light escaped through a hole in the clouds.
So, it was time to paint.
There has been some rain.
Snow on the mountain tops.
Just the weather the fruit trees and poppy seeds need for a good spring.
I had a small window of time to work on my bee.
My finger tips were frozen.
The temps dropped about 20 degrees from one day to the next.
Piping hot tea hits the spot when you are frozen.
But for some reason, I wouldn't pack it up and go into the studio.
The flower paintings beckon me outdoors.
Music, happiness, breeze, cold, sun, warmth, joy.
Warm me up little dry plant pieces in boiling water.
Steamed finger tips.
So chilly late in the afternoon.
I decided to run in and whip up a pot of fresh homemade matzo ball soup.
Mister Lovee was working in the garden.
I knew we needed something hot.
Running back and forth between soup making and paint…
Until the sun says, go inside now.
See you tomorrow.
And so, the flower paintings must wait until tomorrow.
Forced to go inside, I light the candelabra…
And read my antique flower book.
Plotting and planning…
Petals in poems.
What will tomorrow hold?

I have poppies of the brain.
Foxglove in my dreams.
Camellia buds in the garden.
I stayed up until 3 a.m. last night, running around, singing, dancing.
Harassing my little family.
All the boys just wanted to sleep.
Booooring.
🙂
Just don't wake me up from a sleep, or Bruhmhilda will turn up very angry, haha!
Flowers on the menu tomorrow.
Tulips are sprouting and daffodils are blooming
Tell me something weird and random.
Love, V
ps: The boy who follows my every move.
The boy who can go from sweet to meanest little dog ever in 0 seconds.
The boy who hates people…
Let me snap his photo today.
He's getting some grey whiskers.
Oh my!
Even whilst sleeping, those little ears are on full alert.
Make one move and he is up and ready to attack 🙂
Eeeeks!
I am so glad he likes me.

I have bee envy!!! I don’t think I could have painted him…must try it soon.
Something random…school is out tomorrow because it is icing over tonight…I’ll be home all day with my 14 year old…he’ll be into his video games…I can do whatever creative hobby…probably several 🙂
I LOVE how i can see the fuzzy hair on the bumble bee!
Random thing………. It rained here today in central valley CA for the first time in 10 months and it took me a minute to recognize the sound of rain dripping off the roof….lol Hugs! deb
Something random, today the Superbowl was on, but we weren’t really interested. It’s my mother-in-law’s 86th birthday. We asked her for fun, which team she likes green or orange? She said green, which was the Seahawks. We sang happy birthday with candles on a banana cream pie. Then we turned around and the Seahawks had won and it started raining like it does in Seattle (I live in SoCal). I told her it was their good luck since it was her birthday. She thought that was funny!
It’s midnight and I want to stay up and frolic but sadly I have work in the morning 🙂
Just wanted to touch base with you and btw I LOVE BEES! (I have a collection).
Keep on sharing, we will be hear to listen!
Hugs,
Dawn
One thing I love about You…..Blessings Your given in life, You know how to enjoy them and then share them with Us.
oooh love how you running between making hot soup and painting…. sometimes it’s tricky to tear away from painting… i can if i have a layer drying! as for something random… 6 months ago, we sold our house in England, ran away in our tiny camper van and now are staying on the island of Crete for the winter… and because i am beside the sea… i have been painting mermaids! much love to you and your wonderful blog for on-going inspirations…x
Your hands are a work of art themselves! I want to see that finished painting. It looks beautiful.
Random I’m busy with a quilt for little miss Piper. And weird I am trying to finish a quilt for Olivia that I start for her mother when she was in high school Yup that is a long long time but I’ve worked on it off (mostly off) and on for too many years.
Something random is that I started playing roller derby! Well actually today will be my first practice. Wish me luck!
ps. I love your little bee, I heart bees so much!
Darling pictures of your dog. I know the kind, I have one, too. But don’t we love them!! Your tea and paints make wonderful colorful pictures, the bee is wonderful. Stay warm – it’s cold here. Diane
Awesome photos..and the Matzo ball soup is fabulous on a cold day or any day..Yummm. I love the fact that you put your whole body into your painting. I would love to see more photos of your hands after a long day’s work on brightly colored work. Very expressive. Oh yes, I did master the art of making crochet small flowers..Comes so easy now. On thing, how do you get them so light and fluffy? I am gathering up yarn from my co workers… Love all the colors together.
Hope you have a happy day..
I bet he is protecting you and Mr Lovee from intruders. Good dog! 🙂
That soup look amazing, yum!
I don’t know if it’s random, but I definitely have flowers on the brain…NEED to paint colorful, big flowers…like NOW! :)))
Your talent is beyond, beyond….
You are magic, dear Vanessa, do you know that? I bet your sweet men do…both furry and not so furry… 😉
GORGEOUS painting…woweeee….(and your painted hands too!) I love paint on the hands….
Such a sweet sleepy face!!
That soup looks so yummy….we definitely need soup here….zero degres right now, yikes!
Stay warm and toasty….
Lots of love,
– Irina

Miss Linda,
I think my flowers look fluffy because I make the petals too big, and put
them too close together, so they ripple, does that make any sense??

I’m glad to see you got a picture of fierce Mr. Matty. Such a softie at heart I do believe. Loving that massively beautiful flower and the textures of the paint!
I love the flower painting and bee you are creating, especially with the black background it looks fabulous!
Random and weird…I have been reading fantasy fiction of late and it’s as though I knew exactly what was coming next in the story…is that random or what? Kind of like de-ja vu, kind of spooky actually.
Oh! And thank you for the Valentine’s in your next post.
XO
Miss Teresa
Oh Matisse, you gorgeous boy… thank you for allowing this paparazzi picture.
It brightened up the world…
Something random…I am deathly afraid of spiders.
Look at Matty…so peaceful. My oldest, Willow, can be a little mean with her brother and daddy – although she really loves her mommy. When she gets grumpy with me, I just sing to her and keep hugging her until she settles down.
Can’t wait to see the rest of the bee painting – it looks fabulous!!!!

Hmmm something weird and random. I’m really craving lollipops. No longer eating gluten and sugar is much easier than I thought it would be and there are only a couple of things I’m really craving. Lollipops are the worst of the cravings! I’ve been scouring trying to find a refined cane sugar free lollipop. Only ones I can find are made with splenda which makes me very sick.
Oh well…
love & blessings

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles
Every time I see photos of Matty, I am so glad he is part of your home. Such a handsome boy.
Soup is one of my favorite meals to cook during our Maine winters. This week it was broccoli cheddar. Next week it will be Tex-Mex Tomato
Love the paintings- those bright exuberant colors on the black background.
So wishing I could find more time for anything creative – photography, writing, knitting, even just reading.
Something random: perhaps not so much after the last statement, but I am feeling the need for a MAJOR change.
The spirit is getting restless….
The painting, and Mr. Bumblebee, look beautiful. I love the shots with your paint-covered hands. And then the garden talk began and my heart started to race! It is snowing where I am, we are under a foot of snow, but my mind keeps going to all the little green things underground, waiting for Spring. I can’t wait!
:)))
Thank you, sweet Vanessa…I think you help inspire the lovely!!! :)))
xoxo
