What will the day unlock for you?
Perhaps new adventures? Will you notice little tiny things? Isn't it incredible how our perception, can totally change our outlook? Actually, it can change a whole experience…
I brought you the first rose of the season. (Oh, how I love this one rose bush we have that gives cake frosting roses…)
Or, do you feel sorta grouchy? Grouchy is good too, gives us a chance to let it all out (without hurting anyone of course). If I ever feel grouchy, I go into my room, and I scream as loud as I can, "I AM SOOOOOOOOO GROUCHY." And then, I feel worlds better. Although sometimes, I have to say it a few times. Have you ever noticed how sometimes the grouch monger visits for no good reason? What's up with that? 😉
I think the key is to purge those feelings so you can continue to skip and not stomp down the path 😉
Days at the country house can be so peaceful and lovely, a stroll outside with the extra loud birds, is food for the soul. This morning, I was out there just wanting to hug the air it was so warm and cozy.
I watch nature do its thing, with bees buzzing around with pollen…
Nature is just soooo amazing, isn't it?
Baby is soo adorable, when you go out walking around the yard, she finds you and strolls with you, and is just so tickled to be with you… Now that's love. We go down paths lined with wild flowers, that sit between my gallery and my soon to be office.
Everything around here was lined with metal by the owners who lived here for 30+ years. If it was standing, it got covered in metal siding. Mister Lovee bought the property ages and ages ago, because of the amazing views and the land, with fruit trees etc. We make the best of all the metal, thank goodness, my room is not metal… But it can be cute too. I mean, I love my little metal barrio style gallery… And, with the woodpeckers around here, maybe metal is a good thing?
The woodpeckers at my parents have sawed perfect holes, lots of them, through this lovely door they have out back. Isn't that awful?
Anyhow, I think I'll hide out in the gallery for a few days, since I am still not ready to tackle the studio. We are doing a little exciting construction in the back of our property that will take a few years, so the gallery is now housing a bunch of stuff while we turn Mister Lovee's old workshop into storage. It is chaos of stuff here, I tell ya, just chaos. But, it keeps me busy, and that is good.
See, I veered again, sheeesh. Okay I was telling you about strolling with my pooch. Our favorite place to stroll and play and hideout, is through a little corridor of trees and shrubs. It is easy to get lost in your child-like imagination right in there…
The sun peeks through ever so enchantingly…
A little slice of heaven lives in all things that grow…
And we leave, paw prints in the sand 😉
As we stroll, random thoughts appear. I wonder, where my Raggedy Anne doll from childhood is? Did she survive? I found this faded photo of me in my nursery, surrounded by dolls, and it made me want my Raggedy…
Those were the days 😉
When I went inside, I passed by one of my dollhouses and noticed, an unknown visitor.
Yes, a new addition to my family, left by a male fairy. Mister Lovee Fairy Twinkle Toes. Remember last year, he left a little tiny girl in my big yellow dollhouse? I love it when he leaves treasures hidden like that for me… No matter how silly they are. Is this a cake topper or something, haha 😉
We love her.
Well, I best be off to check on my shoes that I did surgery on yesterday. I am so proud of myself, I hope my work holds. I really should have done this ages ago to the gold and silver woven ones…
I used clamps and anvils to hold them down while the stinky but wonderful epoxy dried. I am tickled, you just can't tell I did any work on them. You know, I go shoe shopping, but nothing tickles my fancy, like my old tattered shoes I love so…
Oh, and I finally got to play with my super cute mushroom loves from Miss Sonya's mushroom swap. It was a ton of work, and she did a lovely job, thank you Miss Sonya!! (she also has a brand new space, wax and wool, yipppeee!)
Have a great day my friends!! Let's all giggle a little (or a lot), they say it's good for the soul ;) I am itching for my netflix to get here so I can get back into my clay today. I love to have a movie on while I sculpt, that or This American Life, and I am happy. I made a few little creatures this weekend 😉
Later I will scrounge up the courage to tell you about the dreams that I have that seem to be connected to reality. It is all very strange. Mom believes me, Dad says it is just coincidence :) All I know is that I dream. I don't have cable or a radio with news in my room, so I am not getting subliminal messages. And I am not crazy. Am I? 😉
🖤,V
ps: I saw, vampire flick, Let the right one in – good, not cheesy at all! I also saw Tell No One – good too. Saw a few others and can't remember? My mind I tell ya…

Great photographs! Your art is amazing.
“A little slice of heaven lives…” wherever you are. Skipping down the garden path with you and Baby would be fun. Your bee pictures make me long for warmth up here. Today it is bright and sunshiney with puffy tufts of cotton clouds rolling by in the soft blue sky. The river is pluggin along with wave-ity waves in a somber blue. But the sun is shining! Cold winds blow though. I am chilled…but my own fault for refusing to wear socks any longer!
Thanks for making our hearts sing and our minds wander.
Enjoy the day, sweet one!

Oh how I would love to spread out a quilt amongst the path of wildflowers and have myself a lil’ picnic and a nap..heehee
Your pictures are beautiful!!!!!! It has started to become a little more spring-like here. It’s mostly in the 50’s today..BOO!!! Whoop’s, there’s the grouch coming out in me 😛 But at least the sun’s out so I shouldn’t complain 🙂
Oh and how cute that lil’ picture is with you and your raggedy ann doll 🙂 Oh how I wish I kept my old dolls from way back when! Well, I must get back at it. Thanks for bringing some whimsy to my day 🙂
Have a lovely day Miss V…
Kylee
p.s. “Australia” was Awesome!!!!!! Loved it!!! Hugh Jackman (sooo dreamy..sigh)
You are so right Vanessa, you can be feeling grumpy then some small wonder of nature catches your eye and you are transported to a happier place. In my case it was seeing the tadpoles in our small pond begining to wriggle about like a blob of black jelly, awesome.I just love reading of your adventures, thankyou.

I arrived at work with Miss major Grump on my shoulder :(((((! My printer wouldn’t print and no matter how many times I put the paper back in it wouldn’t work. I’m simply not a happy camper when computers think they’re smarter than me! How bout you? Do yours ever revolt just for the fun of it?
But then I decided to click on your blog and my day was brightened instantly!! The blue sky, birds chirping, and Baby strolling down the path with you…what fun you two must be having!!!!!
I love your new friend! Is she the one living in the attic? I think perhaps not as she’s missing that lovely bonnet that was peeking through the railings.
Well, my printer is finished printing so I must be off to send another print.
Happy Monday O Fanciful One!!!!
xoxox Cori
oooohhhh!!!! Dreams!!! I’ve had some doozies of my own lately!!!!
oh how i wish i could go out and hug the air… i think i might get frostbite though. woke up to a snow storm this morning, an April snow storm. ick. what does green grass look like again?
*i liked ‘Let The Right One In’ too*
What beautiful scenery you have Vanessa. I know what you mean by dreams…only I have visions… Sometime I’ll have to share with you some of them. They are pretty regular.
Great job on refurbishing your shoes. Love the bows in the back!!
Kris
Hi Vanessa!
What a lovely path to wander down. I love the little bee with his bulging sacks of pollen. I work sometimes with a lady called Cathy Bee and she usually wears a little silver and amber bee necklace. Bees are so optimistic and hardworking.
Well done for fixing your shoes!
Sarah 🙂
Thank you SO MUCH Missy Vee and Baby for taking me on a country walk with you! Your little spot of Southwestern Heaven is so pretty this time of year (well any time of year if your pictures are what I go by 😉 )
Ya know, when I feel grouchy, I go into a room and curse a blue streak (my mom taught me to swear like a longshoreman). My hubby has been trying to undo that naughty training of mine, so every time I let out a juicy cuss, I have to put a quarter in the jar. Of course, I have no interest in being retrained, so the jar is MIGHTY full, I tell ya! We’ve got enough money now to throw a party because I can’t be a lady. Seems good to me. 😀
xoxo,
Kate
How funny, I was just taking a walk and took a picture of a beautiful flower on a cactus. This is a fun time to explore the desert!
**GASP** The first picture of the bee in flight!!! ASTOUNDING. You deserve an award for that one. Love the little bride…love MORE that Mr. Lovee found her for you. ooooo…my dreams and my boy have always been connected. I knew every time there was trouble, for I dreamt it the night before. At times it is a little frightening to be so connected to another soul. **blows kisses** Deborah
Hey, Pookie! How are you?
I just got back and am catching up… Again! It’s always fun to catch up with you. That gallery..? AWESOME!
I have not yet finished Grey Gardens, can you BI? And HBO is all set to go with the new one! Oh, my life is a whirlwind. I hope to paint while watching it, soon. Even though I have to COMPETE for the TV time continually.
Hey. off to read more. You always have something GOING ON!
xo

The colors are so perfect!
P.S. I have ANOTHER blog award for you when you have time to pick it up…you feed my soul. **kisskiss** Deborah
wonderful photos – everything looks so fresh and lush – quite a difference from the scenery HERE.
… and I love your little metal gallery! You’ve made it look so inviting and cool!
BEE U TEE FULL!
Proving once again you are mother nature’s enchanted protege, a magic fairy princess with artistic powers bee-yond compare, and goddess of all that is good and pure and true in the world!
(That bee went home all excited and told his family he met you, i just know it!)
And “hug the air”…and “a little slice of heaven is in all things that grow” ? How
well put! Lovey lovey love love love it!
xoxoxoxoxoxrooooo
PS You know, sometimes, the ones who say they dont believe, who write it off to coincidence, are the ones who want to believe, or really do secretly believe, the MOST. 😉
I was trying to be grumpy because I have had to spend the day working on taxes (oh how I hate that!!!), but it was too nice a day. I took a break and went outside and saw some teensy little birdies picking aphids off my rose bushes for a birdie snack. Sweet little birdies chirping and taking care of pest control for me … I mean, how could I possibly be grumpy after witnessing that, taxes or not?
And … however did you manage to catch the bee in mid-flight, working hard, little legs heavily laden with pollen? What a fab photo!
Everyday your blog inspires me. My son Sammy and I have a little nightly ritual. He’s going to be 4 in June. Every night when I tuck him into bed I say “See you in the morning. Tomorrows going to be a whole new….peanut butter sandwich.” and he says “no, mama. It’s going to be a whole new day, full of adventure” and I squeal in delight. in the morning when he wakes up, the first thing he says is “mama, it’s a WHOLE NEW DAY! It’s so sweet.
I hope to remember this post on how to get the grouch monster out! Seems much easier than letting him fester in my soul for days until I manage to pray him out!
The childhood picture of you is soo sweet. I have a similar one only I’m cuddling my aunts old stuffed bunny that she bequeathed to me. My mom & I still bicker over what happened to my lovey bunny 😉
I’m guessing those are the Catalinas, and oh, what a beautiful picture. Makes me want to get on a plane and come to Arizona! Hug that adorable pup for me – what a fun life she has with you and Mr. Lovee!
I love the path of wildflowers, any moment I expect a faerie to be skipping down the path. Ah, your gallery from the outside looks so colorful and creative. What a sweet picture of you and Raggedy Ann!!
I still long for my Ginny Baby. Will tell that story in my blog one day. I’ve been scouring every where for her and no one can help me locate her. I wonder if Miss. Annie is playing with the faes? Such fun she must be having. I hope she comes out to play soon. I hope ya have many more fun filled walks with baby and the gophers find a new place to dwell. Wishing ya a wonderful day! Hugs~
That is one AWESOME photo of the bee flying to the flower! Wayyyy cool!
Oh, BTW, the party hat arrived today, remarkably UN~scrunched! 🙂
Oh Deborah gave me the same award and I’m giving it to you too!!!!! You are doubly blessed to be adored by such women as we…hee hee!!!
xoxo Cori
Of course your not crazy..your amazing..can’t wait to hear about your dreams.
As for your gophers..I am recommending a book for you
Terry Tempest Williams
Finding Beauty in a Broken World.
You’ll never think of Gophers the same way again.
I love the photos of the bees…gorgeous, pretty, busy, happy…
anji
You can pass on those old tattered shoes anytime…They would look great with my Easter outfit!FedEx!!
Have a wonderful week my creative friend 🙂
I am wanting a sneak peek inside your studio!
More treasures I’m sure!
Hugs,
K
Fabulous, what a gorgeous place to be. When I feel grouchy I just look out of my window the view would cheer anyone up.
The rose! The bee! Thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to hear about your dream Vanessa! That walk you and the pooch take is beautiful & I’m loving that mushroom set up but I couldn’t find the ladies site…does she sell them? They are wonderful! So sweet of Mr. Lovee to leave you things here and there…wonder if that was a sign that he left you a wedding (cake topper?), hmmm, tee hee! And I have a Raggedy Ann doll from my childhood and my girls just love it. But I’m so afraid they are going to ‘hurt’ her so I don’t let them play with her much, hehe. I love your outlook on life, it’s wonderful!
Jamie 🙂
Oh & I meant to say that Brownie McMillan had a wonderful trip to Virginia! We are doing a bit of Spring Cleaning and rearranging around this crazy place too (and I’m getting a NEW STUDIO this week) that Brownie will have a lovely place in…sooooo excited about that! She tells me she misses you and her Elfie friends, but it glad to be in hew new home, tee hee! Thanks a bunch for making her to lovely!
Jamie 🙂
Hi Vanessa, I just love your blog! I liked your giggle and grouchy comments, and I must confess, I’m so jealous of your GREAT weather there, along with your blooming roses! But soon, very soon when all the snow, cold and damp rain is over with, our flowers will bloom too! Penny Patten
You have the mind of a true artist…WONDERING! I feel I too do that alot! But I think that’s what keeps us on our toes and keeps us creative! I can’t wait to get my hands on one of your little creatures! I missed all the last bunch! Or maybe some artwork…I’m building a new studio soon…going to need art for the walls…INSPIRATION!
Thanks for sharing,
Heather
Good Morning darling girl!!! ooooh I’m so happy after peeking at all your lovely photos. Have a fabulous Tuesday:):)
xoxox…jenn
Can’t wait to see the new faces…the last batch sold sooo fast I never got a chance to nab one! Great for you, though! lol! Please offer another little postcard with the new faces? Pleeeease? 🙂
Speaking of vampire flicks, have you ever seen Love At First Bite? Total cheese but WONDERFULLY fun!!
I love the beautiful flowers and sweet little bumble bees!
Nice to see you are enjoying the Spring! I see you got to experience Mr. Cohen! Wasn’t he AMAZING?!! My husbands friend is his musical director for the tour, we just saw him a few nights ago here…I have to say…my head exploded from pure bliss!
Best,
Sandra Evertson
So…what are you building? A pool? LOL
My son told me that I need to see, “let the right one in.” So I think I will try to find it for the weekend.
I seem to be too late to even get a chance to purchase one of your lovelies…you should send an email out.. Oh…and I know that YOU can write a splendid Haiku!
As always, I stop in for a little inspiration, a laugh, a connection and that’s what you do.
Thanks Vanessa
It snowed on Sunday. Blizzard like conditions and everything. And while it’s on its way to melting, I’m jealous of your flowers anyway. And I’m sick. And worried about my dad. So if you hear, “I’m so grouchy” echoing around you, it’s just me.
what a beautiful pic of the mountains and i love the little walking path – reminded me of when i used to go walking on mount lemmon – there was this one are i always thought looked like gnomes should live there!
OMG!! I have that raggady ann doll!! I had it as a child and it is now in my daughter’s room. =D
Oooh lovely roses. <3
The bees are making me smile. They're after the catus flowers :] Those are my favorite, especially the yellow ones!
Raggedy Ann! Ahhhh! I have a few of those from my tinyer days...I love them so. My mom used to read me the Raggedy Ann and Andy stories before bed when I was little. Your post is bringing me back some little-girl smiles and fuzzy feelings <3
I would love to have strawberry tea in
that pretty studio of yours
listening to mexican folk music
twirling around your gardens
pitching tents and sleeping by the campfire
instead
magic world you live in 🙂
Love the pictures of your walk. Everything looks so nice. We’re finally having spring! Love the pic of the gallery. That looks like a happy place. I’m trying to make some rounds and let people know I’m having a small give away. Hope you can stop by!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your shoes! What kind of epoxy did you use? I’ve been trying to add a great big flower to an old pair of espadrilles, but I’m having trouble figuring out the best way to attach it. I’d love to see more pictures of your finished shoes!
Fab photos, dearest V! You live in the most beautiful place! And I like Tell No One – so suspenseful. xoxox
The shoes are great!
Shoes that tell stories are so wonderful to wear. You know we can’t really own them…we just share in their joy!!
I just knew that a princess lived in that room. She is beautiful and your Mister was enchanted by her. He just had to bring her to you and your little house. Wonder what stories she will share with you.
Love stories…don’t you?
Hugs
SueAnn
I really love your blog… But beyond that, your photography skills are absolutely outstanding. The pictures of the bee are incredible.
You’re one truly talented lady!
Fun! happy sunny days!
