I gave my heart so easily, to a Nature Boy. A fur laden, precious boy. I secretly said to him, "Here is my heart, I give to you…" Never thinking about anything else – lost in that googley eyed, wild abandon, heart flutteringness syndrome…
Then this past week, my wee furry love boat boy got sick, and my heart was scared. I was a very very worried fur baby Mama. So, in the midst of a super busy work week (I have hand cut 1200+ stickers), I got caught up with the vet and monitoring my baby, who is feeling much better (hence, the reason I was MIA). It was almost like he had a really bad cold, or some bronchial thing. Hopefully not valley fever. But we will know more in a week or so…
He still isn't 100% (maybe 80%), but he is more like himself – (growing tooooo fast!!)
Plus, the other half of my heart, Matty's sister Baby, had a weird eye thing going on. She has never ever had any ailments in the 8 years we have had her. But she is much better too… Oh these furry children of mine. How can I love them so? I didn't grow up with pets, so I had no idea that my heart strings would be wrapped around and invested totally in the love and care of my creatures. But, oh, how they are.
So, it's safe to say that things are getting back to normal. The sky shared some stellar clouds when we got back from the vet, one day last week, and I was ever grateful for such a sight…
And, my beau met me in our garden, to help ease my worry wartedness for my pups…
Such a nice Lovee manboy…
He actually can be really rotten because he is so spoiled, believe it or not. But 90% of the time he is ever so lovely, so we'll keep him around ;) (I am sure he thinks the same of me, tee hee)
Anyhow, I am happy to have my wee family feeling better, frolicking in the garden.
My Dad got me some emergency shoes one night, when we were on a luminaria nights walk around some village shops this past December. My heels were hurting, and there was a fab little vintage boutique that had one pair of 7.5 tennis shoe thingies for $5. I have been meaning to tell my Dad, those emergency shoes have become my fave garden shoes. They are so sturdy and cushioney, fancy or not. Funny how that works, isn't it?
It was such a beautiful week, warm and sunny. A week to reflect and try to send all the good vibes one can muster to folks all over the globe right now (and always really), that are facing mind blowing difficulties…
It is so nice to be able to find hope in the skies. Do you ever look up and feel that way? Like the sky has gifts for you. Silent tremendous gifts of peace and hope…
Under that pink sky I played with my beloved fur babies, and I felt its magic floating around us…
Yep, Nature Boy is definitely starting to feel better 😉
Happy fur babies + sky painting = bliss
On the day that we got back from the vet (you should have seen Matty at the vet, wrapped around Mister Lovee, literally holding on with legs around his neck and waist), and I was feeling more calm about Matty, I took a stroll to the mailbox, past the sunflowers…
And found a parcel from a dear friend, Miss Teresa in California…
It was a total surprise, and made my day big time. First of all the calendar is full of crochet work photographed in Annie's Victorian Village (including a feature month for one of Miss Teresa's pieces). And then, in the back, really super wonderful recipes…
I already tried one, and boy oh boy, it was more than good.
Pecan mini tarts, a huge huge hit! The brown sugar and butter caramelized to perfection, and the tarts were incredibly wonderful…
After you use a fork to blend the dough, use your hands to knead it together…
I used a hand mixer on my filling, so it created air that caused my pecan tarts to rise instead of sink down. If your filling sinks down like a pecan pie normally would, don't be alarmed. Mine are actually a little off looking, but beyond delicious…
Make them. You will be delighted.
So, there you have it. That is where I have been. And might I tell you, your horse names totally made my week. It was so delightful to have names being left by you, to make me smile.
I almost have Mister Horse's name chosen. It will be long. I am picking from several names. I will let you know for certain in the next blog post, I promise!! I need to be sure about this name, you see 😉
Now, the moon is calling…
And, my chipmunk self needs to go get into some mischief!
Thanks to McDonald's happy meals, that help me get happy by putting adorable chipmunks in as a treat 😉
More very very very soon!

OHHHHHHH I am so happy to hear that Matty & Baby are doing much much better. I was worried for them this week hoping all would be ok 🙂
Here’s to hoping this week is better than last week!!!!
p.s. I must have Hubster make me some of those pecan mini tarts…they look delicious!!
Vanessa, nothing worries our hearts as much as when our fur babies don’t feel well. It’s so sad when they can’t tell us what is wrong. I am the mamma of two fur babies who have me wrapped tightly around their little paws. I hope your’s are both back 100% soon! Have a nice week! Twyla
Dearest Miss Vanessa,
You absolutely blew my mind away with posting the calendar and the recipe!I am so happy to share such treasures with a sweet friend like beautiful, you…The pecan tart looks so yummy!
Hope your doggies continue to feel better, with the love from you and Mister Lovee I’m sure they can,t help but get well soon…
I love all of the names everyone has posted for your adorable pony boy. And the sunset photos you took are out of this world…
Magical wishes come your way this evening and all day long…
Hi Vanessa,
It is so worrying when your little furry loves are ill so I am glad they are better!
Sarah x
i’m happy that your four legged baby is on the mend. I lost mine two years ago and it broke my heart. I still miss his little black waggy tail 🙁
Your garden is heaven for four legged peeps!
All that space to frolic!
Oh Vanessa, my heart just skipped several beats! I have a sad story to tell – last week I lost my darling Bobby dog suddenly…my heart is broken…but here’s where the story gets amazing – the night he died, I dreamed he was chasing a rabbit, and you were in my dream. Then 2 days later, driving home, my daughter looked up at the clouds and said she could see rabbits! It was right at the exact moment I had been thinking of my dream…then just now, I came to your blog and saw that your precious little guy is unwell, and you have photos of clouds…I don’t know what this means, but I do feel strangely comforted x
I am so happy that your furry friends are feeling much better. It is always a worry when those who are close to us are not feeling well.
woof woof woof woof woof woof.

Welllll, Matty’s southern cousin buddy is on his way to the vet with Cowboy in a matter of minutes, because he sounds like he has the croup! Deep chest coughing thing going on, poor Bduster, it’s been so cold and he REFUSES to stay in where its warm OR wear his coat!
I am sure he will be okay, too.
LOVE those clouds-did you see the mermaid? I did I did!
pecan thingies, yum. maybe i should pretend like i can bake and attempt those for cowboy who loves all things pecan…..
X to the O and I am SURE this week will be Spectafabulositciousness!
poor pup 🙁 hope he’s 100% soon!
you have totally ruined me. I’m going to buy ingredients for tarts today. sigh. I’m hopeless – and you’re an enabler! 🙂
as always, delightful post!
I am most happy to hear that your sweet pups are feeling better. 🙂 How lovely of Teresa of California (hello there!) to send you such a lovely package. Those tarts, by the way, look divine. I haven’t had anything to eat yet, so they are looking extra good right now (too bad I cannot open the computer screen and just sneak a little bite!). 🙂 Hug your sweet doggies for me. 🙂 Theresa
Beautiful beautiful photos…pink skies, sunflowers, the moon, and The ManBoy…simply yummy. Me thinks I will be contacting you about the Silhouette…we had to put our old beloved Bear down last week. I see a spot on my wall just for her.
**blows kisses** Deb
I’m so glad the babies are feeling better! That is the worst feeling to know they’re feeling bad and you can’t just magically fix it. That recipe looks right up my alley! lol
I’m glad your fur babies are doing better. I know how pets can wrap around your heart – they have mine totally encased! Thanks for the yummy looking recipe!
Love the silo! So glad your puppers are feeling better. Looks like lovely time at your house! Hey, where is the challah recipe? It is a good ocld bread day around here.
Whew!! I am sure it is with much relief that you write your fur babies are doing so much better. Nothing worse than a sick fur baby! They can’t tell you what is wrong…you just have to know it and feel it and sense it. You are a good mama!! Love your sky photos! It has been sunny with blue skies here as well. A storm is coming though. Sigh!! I really don’t like them.
Hugging you
SueAnn
glad to hear your furry friends are doing better. they’re very lucky to have bighugeheartedyou as a mom 🙂
so glad your furry pets are feeling better, I hate it when they catch a cold, and they do!
The Spring time in warm climates has all kinds of stuff flying around, and I just hate to keep my kitties inside, and they beg to go out, fortunately they build up immunities to all this stuff as time goes on
Be Happy
your fairy friend
Karey
Glad to hear everyone is on the mend. I hope everyone is up to full strength, and hopping around very soon.
Take care,
L
OOOoohhhh!!! So much fun delicious stuff in your post, but I have no time to read, SO I must come back later to play!! I miss playing ;-(. Life has become crazy and sadly I’ve been trapped in FarmVille…hee hee!
I’ll be bach really soon…will you be Beethoven? Oh, Mister Lovee has the most divine curls! I know I’ve said this before, but they are DIVINE…major swoonie in fact…hee hee! Please let him know he has a hair fan in me ;-O!

Hello Vanessa… so happy to hear your little fur babies are getting better… when our precious little pets are ill nothing else seems to matter at the time… your photos are stunning… love to you… xoxo Juie Marie
Sending your pups hugs and kisses for a full and speedy recovery! Yes . . . they wrap their little paws around our hearts, don’t they! We are so lucky to have lovey pups to share our lives with….when I’m not feeling well, my cocker snuggles up and naps with me. I call him Dr. Dog. I know you’re being a good Dr. V for your two!
I’m so glad your fur babies are getting better! Those pecan tarts look yummylicious!
I do feel that way about the sky. It is constant, yet always changing. I like how you call it “sky painting”. I love to paint, but I don’t think I could ever paint the sky. Not really. Lovely moon, photo, too!
I totally understand about the love of your pet (ask Mena nicely and she’ll tell you about her dental bill) (and how worried I was about putting numbing gell on her gums.) (on a cat’s gums) Anyway…I hope all is better now and on the mend and nothing more than what it already was…Enjoy all the weather you’re probably getting too. I’m hoping we fill up the lakes and creeks here!!
oh
i do hope your furry ones
are feeling up to All Star Good Health.
🙂
i must say the second photo
up there…
looks so incredibly Noble!
i am very pleased
to see this Noble side
as he looks like an old Soul,
don’t you think?
you know,
like he has been around the block before.
which
i think that is just perfect
for you and your Fanciful Tribe 🖤🖤🖤
I’m glad Matty is feeling better. Puppy love and pecan tarts…best way to end my night. Thank you. <3
That calendar with crochet and recipes looks absolutely fantastic! I hope you fur babies are all better now. You certainly have a way of making everything a dream. Blessings, Tammy
So happy your furbabies are doing better! Gorgeous photos, as always, and those pecan tarts look amazing!
~ Carolee
Matty is getting so big! Once you have an animal friend in the house, they are family. Just of the furry and four legged kind. Glad
the fur babies are doing well.
Lovely pictures of the sky.
Oh Dear..I am late ..I am late and beehind in me bloggin’ ! I am so very sorry to hear about your puppy..I truly know what it is like to go through something like that. Please know that I am sending healing vibes to Matty..))))))))))))))))))))) Lots of them. Spot sends loVe to him too! Woof!
My poor fur babies have been so neglected this week. My human baby was born six days ago and they are inside a little at a time while they figure out exactly what it is that mama is carrying all around with her that squirms and cries. I am glad Matty is better. Having sick babies really rattles the nerves. Had to laugh at your Chipmunk. I got an Alvin in my Happy Meal a couple weeks ago. First Happy Meal I have got in a long while. My husband and teenager were driving me crazy making it talk so I passed it on to my twin nieces who are driving their mom crazy with it now. :o)
Oh, I’m glad to hear your pupling is getting better! 🙂 Our two kitties are our babies, and I know I worry muchly when they are unwell!
&
Thank you for the magic skies, Miss!! 🙂
I am so happy your sweet pets are better…believe me they are like children with the heartstring thing. I love my pets so much, even my goldfish which is now going on 11 years old. She always smiles at me when I am around her bowl…yes I do believe fish smile too! As I was walking at the Bay this am I was looking in the sky and thinking what a beautiful world we live in even when disaster happens there are beautiful moments to be seen all around us, if we just take the time to notice!
get well little family…singing and skipping -jo
Hurray!!! that your furry babies are doing well…
and yes, the skies can make my day…alas my sky right now is gray, no clouds no color
x…x
tennis shoe thingies? lol!!!!!!
you are so hilarious. that single line from this entire post made me laugh out loud.
spoken like a true heel wearing girl xoxo
Matty is growing like a real little boy! He is adorable…they both are. I’m hoping that both are feeling top notch by now. There’s nothing like having a fur baby ill ~ your heart just gets all twisted and weird and you can’t think straight and you just want to hug them close forever. Your pecan tarts are just incredibly delicious looking ~ I want one so bad! Loved the sky pics as well as the sunflowers…really all the pics you share are delightful. I just can’t wait to see what Fanciful name you will choose for Mr Horse.
Always looking forward to more posts! 🙂
I’m glad that your puppy is feeling better! I get sick with worry whenever either of my two baby kitty girls get sick. And the pecan tarts look just lovely! 🙂
Matty going to the vet sounds like Izzy going to the groomers – you’d think as many times as she’s been there she’d know I wasn’t leaving her there permanently.
I hope your fur-babies are back in tip-top shape soon! It’s hard when your pets aren’t feeling well since they can’t really *tell* tell you how they are doing.
Good Morning Vanessa, What worry about your lovely dogs. It’s good to know it is getting better. I have lost three dogs over the years, one being poisened. You didn’t ask me but I really like to press to you: watch out with painting activities around the house or in the studio with your dogs: old paintdust, terpentine etc. is very very dangerous for dogs too.
Where is Mila ? He has been visiting here with too in The Netherlands, You may have found me on my blog.
I enjoy your blog, getting to know you…
Be well
Godeliva van Ariadone

I loved the pictures of the sky…they brightened my day. It’s so rainy and cold here that they reminded me that the sun will shine again soon!
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
Love the shot of the moon…
I was trying to photograph that same crescent in my neck of the woods but having an awful time (and not all of it because of the bitter coooollldddd).. may I ask what exposure you used?
Wow! That’s quite the lil slice of Heaven you have going on over there. Glad the furry kins are doing better. Speedy recovery to all… glad you”re back and how will I ever thank you for the recipe… nothing… nothing tastier than warm pecan tarts!!! Gotta get to school…
Yours if the first pastry I have seen that looks like my ex mother in laws. She made the best pastry ever and I bet yours is just as good. Send some sunshine over the Atlantic please and hope those babies of yours are better soon.
