Into the world of Nanny Buttoncap…
One of the bestest of all worlds, me thinks.
What's going on in there?
Ruffles and fur a plenty.
Tenderest, kindest heart you will ever ever ever meet.
Most biggest love of all times.
Accepts kisses and hugs, and roll on the floor cuddles from all.
Fills every part full to bursting of your childhood heart.
(and your unwillingly-grown-up-girl heart too)
Tales and dress-up and treats and wonderfulest times of everness.
What would I do without my Nanny Buttoncap?
All those endless hours of cuddling and tale telling?
Except, don't tell her/him I told you.
But…
She (he) always falls asleep when story times are happening.
Snores.
Hugest fluffy tale love.
Oops, nap-time is over.
Lost a bonnet?
Nanny has to go.
On the way out, giving lots of high fives for good times had.
And, he's off.
Back to his King Miles of the Santa Catalina's self.
Secretly…
He'll always be my Nanny Buttoncap of the heart.
I have 3 great loves under my roof.
All loved equally but oh so differently.
One is fun but quite ornery too, love dances about in a top hat.
The other is like a cat, leave me alone, let me love you from afar in my brown fur.
But don't come near me or bother me because I don't like it.
And the 3rd.
So easy to love, with love flooding out like puffs of clouds that take your breath away and steal your heart in one fell swoop.
If you are not careful, you might do the most awful thing and accidentally pick favorites.
Because this love is like angel love, pure and fluttering and soft and endless.
Gasp, sigh, gasp.
Almost wants to make you jump on a couch and proclaim your love if you aren't careful.
Don't worry.
I am fully aware there is this space where young woman/girl dressing up dog is funny and sweet, then sort of morphs into crazy whacked out dog lady who needs help.
But I don't care.
I am blinded by mad love you see.
And, don't they say that being in love is the one socially acceptable form of insanity?
So, I'm in love.
Aka, accepatably nuts.
What about you?
Who are you acceptably fruit looped cray cray for?
I need names and nicknames.
Anyone got a floofloosweetiefrooliemickwootzycoo?
I mean, a furling love, or two or three?
Who stole your heart?
Tell me, tell me, tell me…
Looove, V
ps:
Some things never change.
Oh swooooon, I love looking at this old post.
pss:
Once I was watching this show where this guy had bunches of goats.
He loved them so much, that as he was being interviewed about them he started choking up and sobbing.
Sobbing over his love for them.
And he eeked out through sobs, "I am so sorry, I just love them so much."
You know what?
I totally get it.
🙂
Love your goats sir, don't be ashamed.
(oh, found an article here, that mentions the goat loving man)

Ohhhh I love Miles to bursting even though we’ve never met. I know that kind of perfect love myself, with my babies!! Furs are the best!! Love you too my friend!
Awwweee! Sooooo adorable! You have such a very kind and sweet heart.
; )
LOL, that is so cute, Vanessa! If I could get away with it, I’d dress our Husky up, too. : ) The one I am crazy about is a human ~ my granddaughter. I sometimes think I’ve never felt a love like that before. I feel like we’ve got such a wonderful bond, too, that I hope will continue to grow as she does. She will be 4 in July.
Oh Vanessa….. Nanny Buttoncap… This made me squeal as I said it out loud i couldn’t help myself!…..
Darling!!!! A story to publish perhaps?

How adorable!! 🙂
My mad love affair of the furry variety is with “The Delicious” our two rescue dog dogs. Minnie Delicious is a beautiful Belgian Turverin mix, think German Shepard with long sily hair. And, Callie Delicious is a black lab mix with chow. Both are sweet girlys that love their humans unconditionally.
We love our fur!!
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
Oh how wonderful…A truly amazing fury one.
what a truly Wonderful post! I have four furry kids that I absolutely adore! Two beautiful little dogs and two beautiful solid white cats (they are identical brother and sister). They are my children and I spoil them as much as I can. I sing to them and dance with them and hug and kiss them quite often!
Hugs! 🙂
Such an ADORABLE post!!! What a precious precious fur baby!
I love the photos of nanny Buttercup now and when she was just a pup. Mmy sweet Sparky-aka, the little varmit=the beastie boy-toti moraty-si no longer with me but at the Rainbow Bridge. He was a busy little cairn terrier and could be seen sometimes wearing a mexican sombero or a witches hat at Halloween. He wasn’t patient like your dog and shook the hats off as quickly as I put them on him.
Oh how sweet and funny! Loved this post! I have three little dogs and I just LOVE them. My boys say I’m gonna be the crazy old dog lady someday, LOL.. I think I already am. 🙂
Oh, I am most definitely “cray cray” about my furkids, too. I know exactly what you mean. My own little spoiled babies are “Maddie Kate Scarlett O’Hara,” “Lady Isabelle Rosie Cotton” (aka “Izzy”) and “Abigail Annie Oakley.”
I’d be lost without them!
Kristin
I am over-the-moon with this post! Awww…Miles is so doggone sweet! Nanny Buttoncap is the dog’s woof! woof! (like the cat’s meow!)
Growing up, our family always named our light-orange tabby cats, Bootsie, because the first Bootsie was the sweetest cat ever! We probably had six Bootsie’s in succession over a fifteen year time frame. And we loved them all equally well.
I am very familiar with the bred of dog Miles is. My sister had one named Honey, and if that dog wasn’t the sweetest dog in the world!!! Yeah!!! So cuddly, so charming, and loveable, and the hugs that dog got, many, many hugs!!!
I was smiling from ear to ear with this post!
Have a blessed rest of the weekend!
Miss Teresa
Oooh, I love Miles soooo much! Those photos of him dressed up (and what a precious sweetie he is to allow himself to be dressed up) are some of the sweetest, cutest photos I’ve ever seen. Please, give Miles lots of hugs and kisses from me!
Blessings,
Victoria
This is ridiculously cute! i love it! I can’t wait til I have a dog of my own to dress up!
Miles is so darling! I don’t think I have ever met a dog so kind. You got a winner on your hands there, Sis!
Don’t get me started on the cat-like dog you have… I love him, but I guess it’s the kind if love that hurts.
Crying out of how cute this is. You have a Nanny Buttoncap golden, I’ve got a Remington Goldenbeard of the Great North Sea golden, Nannies and Pirates! And my shih tzu love, the sweet littlest ewok, Oscar McOsky pie. He has a soul made of honey and cakes that little guy!

This made me swoon then cry. Our sweet Gingerbread Girl left us at 11 and a half this March. She never wore a bonnet but she picked her own toys from the store and she chose what color collar to wear. She was Ginger, Spooky, Luna, Ging, and Boo to us….and she was greatly loved. Her partner in crime misses her greatly. He is Mojo, Mr. GP, Linus and The Old Man to us…..
I use to have that very same book and wondering now if it is still tucked in with my other books. Loved those books. Oh that Miles is certainly a patient guy and so very cute too. Just a love bug.
Those three in your household are so lucky. You’re a sweetheart and full of love.
LOVE!I loved Maggie May the cat(Twitterpated DiddyPuss, Mega-Diddy, Puss-Cadiddle)for 18 whole entire years. Also Bailey the Dog(Rufus-Hoover, Fred, BaileyBubbles, Goober) for 17 years… she was 20 when she went. Now I love Nora Oh how I love Nora the cat(Noraleen, The Pisser, NubbyNooNoo, Bubby)and Blanche the cat (Wench, FaLooLa, Fudge, Petit Minouche)and I try most determinedly each and every day to love Lucy the cat… (Lucy-Fur, Juicy Bubba) and Abbygail the dog(Abby, Babs, Cottonheadedninnymuggins, Girlygirl, Shrimp, Squirt… Nana’s Girl.)
Ah, your best buds are beautiful and your world doesn’t want for wonder, Vanessa!!
