Somerset Holidays and Celebrations Magazine + Christmas Art

Looks like the time has come for sugar plum fairies to peek in…

The Magic of Christmas 4

Wishes and sparkles a plenty, are finding their way.

Twinkling lights and happy music.

Jingle bells and sparkly snow!

Sparkly everything!

The Magic of Christmas 6

Andddddd!

Time for Somerset Holidays and Celebrations magazine,

Plus lots of inspiration in those pages.

Somerset Holidays and Celebrations 2012

Two of my new Christmas pieces were featured in this year's issue…

Somerset Holidays and Celebrations 2012 A

Somerset Holidays and Celebrations 2012 B

And are now available in my art shop.

Sugar Plum Fairies make the world a better place, don't they though?

Sugar plum 1

With wishes and sparkles, oh yes!

I just like saying wishes and sparkles.

How about you?

And a sweet little fur too.

Twinkling trees…

The Magic of Christmas 2

In a world of light seafoam tealish blue and pink.

Happy candy colors.

Tis' true.

The Magic of Christmas 1

Stars and clouds, and…

The Magic of Christmas 5

Wait, there is a Christmas Tea Party too!!

10" x 10"

Chirstmas Tea Party 1

All fancy schmancy, and oodles of fun!

Chirstmas Tea Party 2

And of course, sparkly too.

What is Christmas without some serious sparkle, I ask?

Chirstmas Tea Party 3

Both pieces are now available,

 in my shop, right here.

Fanciful Christmas 1

Also, I put up a wee tree last night.

And, I have to say, I deserve a tree decorating award.

For, worst tree decorator ever, that is 😉

I stink at it.

It's kind of hard, I think?

I kept calling my mom.

She is the bestest tree decorator, ever.

And makes a whole thing of it.

I am off to meet her now, as she has some Christmas treats for me.

YAY!

I'll snazzle up my own display, and take more photos.

Have you started decorating?

I think my decor is going to have a spring flair, since it is warm here.

And I am typing this in hot sun and flip flops.

You would think I was in the Bahamas.

Last year it was much colder here.

Now…

I just need an ocean.

Oh, lovely ocean……

White sand…..

Dreams.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

ps:  There was the most jaw dropping pink and lavender sky full moon the other night…

Swwwwooooooooooon!

    Vanessa:
I always get so excited when I’m at my local book store and I see your work in a magazine. I get all starry-eyed and star-struck. Like I know a celebrity! 🖤🖤
I love the new pieces. They ALMOST put me into the Christmas mood. ALMOST. I’m not a Christmas-y person. But, I love the new pieces. I had to giggle a little when I saw the words “Cheese Balls” behind the tea party girl’s head. Heheeehee…”Cheese Balls”!!
    xoxo

Miss Vanessa, I can’t wait to see your enchanting words in the Somerset Magazine. Everything you do is amazingly lovely and so full of magic.
Thank you for sharing parts of your day.

  4. I love the tea party girl. What a great idea for a background. And I LOVE the sparkles too.

  5. Theresa says:

Oh how GORGEOUS holiday art, Vanessa! I love them so much. Especially the sugar plum faerie and her sweet furry friend!!!! 🙂 I am all about woodland holidays!!!! 🙂 I think your wee tree looks great – with what I see there. 🙂 Every decorated tree is magical. 🙂 That sky is simply stunning. I’ve seen reds and oranges here but never such a lovely shade of lavender. Happy weekend to you! xoxo

  6. Laura says:

I love your new pieces! I’m adding B&N to my list of things to do tomorrow to pick up a copy of the mag. Yay! Love that beautiful full moon sky. I caught a pretty glimpse through the trees in my back yard and could see Jupiter just to the left of it. I can’t wait to see your holiday decor! I start tomorrow on mine!
    love & blessings

  8. How beautiful! Someday I hope to own a piece…Funny enough, I’ve been painting sugarplum fairies too. ‘Tis the season! Must pick up a copy of Someret Life now…
Oh, and if that photo is any indication, you are most certainly NOT the worst tree decorator. I think it’s sparkly and magical and perfect. 🙂

  9. Sarah H. says:

I think the wee bit of your tree that I can see is lovely! I can definitely relate to decorating in flip flops, since I do live in the Bahamas! It’s difficult to get into the spirit some years. You have inspired me to climb up to the storage space, though and pull down our fake little tree. Woo hoo! Hooray for sparkles.

  10. Congratulations on another publishing…and you are so artistic and talented…it’s almost expected to see something of yours on the newsstand or the internet during the holidays. You bring a lot of joy and pizzaz to people.
I know what you mean about the hot weather. It’s 73 today in Florida and supposed to be 81 later as we progress into the weekend and next week. I don’t mind though, as long as we get a bit of a cold snap near/on Xmas. That puts me in a festive Christmas mood.
Your tree is cute and I love that you added tinsel. I haven’t used that stuff in ages, since I was a wee-kiddie in fact, and this year I found some that has a hologram pattern in it…love it! I used the whole freaking package and it makes me smile how it floats and dances around with the breeze. Hahaha!

  11. Nathalie says:

Congrats once again on being featured in Somerset Magazine!!! I LOVE your tree. Very beautiful. Now you have put me in the mood to decorate 🙂

  12. Whoa! Whoever saw this post first about your goodies in your shop didn’t waste time purchasing your lovelies! Very beautiful Christmas collages! I love the colors you chose.
And that fabulous lavender sunset, just gorgeous!
Oh! It’s almost your birthday too! Coming up soon!
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa

  13. Diane says:

Congratulations on your publishing. Your art is wonderful and creative and I’m sure your tree is, too. The full moon and lavender sky is beautiful. It was beautiful here, too, but the sky wasn’t that fantastic color. Diane

  14. LindaBloom says:

I saw you in Somerset Holidays! Very nice. I wish I was wearing flip flops right now – it’s 37 degrees here and I’m feeding the wood stove!

  15. Oh no!! Well, lets trade for a couple days ;)))

The photos of the lavender sky full moon are just lovely.

  17. Hey, there, Miss Been In All The Magazines In The World!
    That lavender moonrise is dreamy.
Hey—I loved your mom’s fairy tree. I’ve been gathering stuff up for years to make one, but I don’t have enough to make it nice and full yet. I’m waiting. I want to see another photo of her tree!!!! She really DOES do it up nice for the holidays. Lucky little girl YOU!

  18. Oh yes… now where woulda photo be??? She puts up a HUGE
massive tree in the dining room area…. and then a fun fairy tree in the family
room kitchen nook area…… Let me think….

I just love your Sugar Plum Fairies…I think my heart melts a little bit when I look at them. Actually, I delight in all of your pieces, Vanessa. Congrats on being published again, in one of my favorite artsy magazines (I love all Stampington pubs.)
I find it hard to believe that you’re the worst tree decorator ever! Nope…I don’t believe it.

  21. I think decorating trees to look super lovely is harder than I thought
    🙂 I normally I decorate a holiday branch, or a tomato cage
🙂 But this year, I did a little fake tree I had, and I
realized you really have to pile the stuff on for it to look good ;))))
Unlessone likes the sparse look, which I like too 🙂

  22. Linda Diane says:

A big hug of congratulations is coming your way for your beautiful art pieces and for having them featured in this magazine!!!
Vanessa being a bad tree decorator = impossible!!! It is OK to be a “different” tree decorator, but that doesn’t make you bad. I bet your tree has its own beautiful personality.
Oh, it has been sooo warm here, too! It may look like Christmas, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. I happen to love the warm weather, but it has even been a bit warm for me!
That sky is gorgeous. Love you, Vanessala!

  23. Linda Diane, you are the bestest in the westest!!!

  24. Rachel says:

My decorations went up on Sunday. Usually they go up on the December 1st but I had my first ever craft store on Saturday (well I shared with my friend) so the decorations had to wait until Sunday. I love it, everything looks sparkly and cosy and we had turkey and stuffing sandwiches to celebrate.
I love your new paintings. You can’t beat sugar plum fairy-ness at Christmas. 🙂

  25. Jenn says:

I love your Christmas art Vanessa! Sugarplum fairies just make me feel so happy and cozy and dreamy. Beautiful pieces. I feel like everyone is so in the Christmas spirit this year. I see the trees going up so early!
