Mini this, Mini that, Mini Me?

I have to be honest and just tell you.  There are so many tales, tricks, and all around happenings that go around here, that well, simply never get told.  I mean, how could it all ever be shared?  We (you and me) all have our own super full lives.  24 hours in a day.  Impossible to share it all.  So, I am going to try, from time to time, to remember some of the untold tales – of the very bestest variety.

Which leads me to me, and Mini Vanessa.

Vanessa Valencia

The doll version.

Yep, you heard (err, read) correctly.

Mini Vanessa is a surprise birthday creation (isn't that super nice???) made by a lovely lass (who makes dolls and more) on the other side of the pond, Patricia (of Papillon Bleu UK).

I love mini her, I mean mini me!

(mister says I look stern below, not my intention, teehee!  But I was trying to balance my huge & heavy camera in one hand, mini me in the other, and press the button, whilst in front of the old mirror :)

But wait, it gets better, Mini Vanessa had a birthday party in December, at Patricia's.

Unbeknownst to human Vanessa!

See party here

It was super superb for doll Vanessa not only to be made, but to get to celebrate her birthday in the UK.  Wouldn't you agree?

I knew I felt my ears tingling 🙂

What fun! (THANK you again Patricia!)

Oh and, in keeping with the mini topic….

Vanessa mini 3

I am getting ready to really start planting.

You know, digging in the soil, preparing the ground, etc.

I knew there were a few rogue mini carrots in with the herbs, still waiting to be picked, but it was better than I thought…

Vanessa mini 4

I planted these in June.  Can you believe it?

Vanessa mini 5

Lots of mini carrots.

Carrot Lover extraordinaire…

And also a puppy, who weighed in at 24.4 lbs at the vet today.

But wait wait….

I feel myself morphing into doll land……………

G'bye for now, see you soooooooon!

A Sparkly Heart see you soon

ps:  I am sort of obsessed with all the tarnished bits on that old mirror I was taking photos in.  Why are old mirrors so fascinating?  Do you ever hope to see someone looking back at you, when you peer into an old mirror?  I sort of madly hope, and then get scared and un-hope 🙂

  1. Terry says:

We have an neat old mirror with someone’s fingerprints on them!

  2. And she looks just like you, Vanessa! Big lovely eyes and all! : )

  3. She is perfectly precious and I am sure you and her will have loads of adventures and stories to tell.
I love that you are already getting ready in the garden. I am too.
The little hatters and I have already started diggin in the dirt. We want to have a most perfect place for your next tea party. ….
    wishes and whimsy
    Wendy from Wonderland
Ps. I have not made a little Mad Wendy yet but when I do.. We will have to meet in little doll land for a cup of tea and a cookie or two.

  4. What a sweet doll V (of course because she is mini you 😉 And a birthday party in the UK too, oh my…what fun! Love that mirror too, just think of all the people who might have gazed into it. What if a mirror could talk…think of all the things it would see and could tell us about. May be scary, tee hee 😉 Anyway, hugs to the pups,
    Jamie 🙂

  5. Love your little dolly…and your spooky mirror.
But your carrots do leave a lot to be desired. I’m sure Miles doesn’t mind though.

  6. Betty says:

    Dear Magical Mlle. Vanessa,
Welcome to your little Mini Me! She is beautiful!
I do wish I was able to plant things now, but we still have feet and feet of snow in most places! But I can buy my seeds and dream…
As for old mirrors, it would give me the fright of my life if someone were to look back at me from one! But I do love looking into the ones in museums and historical homes because I love to think of who has looked into it before and what were they doing at the time! Just looking before they went out? Dressing for a wedding, maybe their own, or a special party? Looking in the mirror at new hats or clothes. Or sadly, looking at themselves in mourning clothes. So much history in mirrors.
Wishing you a beautiful rest of your night!
Hugs to you and your family!
    Betty

  7. Renee says:

Everyone should have a mini me:)
    Lovely pics as always.
I think that is great you planted your carrots that long ago. We’ve grown carrots in the past, they never come out as big as the ones you get at the store, but have such a good taste.
Its warming up here, I saw daffodils in bloom when I took my mom to the doctor. I want to start digging in the dirt and planting.

  8. I so agree about the mirror, it had my attention! There is one at a shop my friend works at that has part of the mirror paint gone in a strip down the side and she put old handwriting on a strip of paper in the open spot on the glass, well, it is brilliant to see right through the glass, see a little of the old parchment and then the super old mirror. True art. This was sweet, little cheeks! I have a drawing of me in cartoon form from one of my college students that reminds me of your cheeks because I get such rosy ones! It is so cute and in cartoon form. YAY! Dolls! take care dear!

  9. Well…she definitely is a doll! You know what I mean, she’s adorable, a cutie, so sweet. What a thoughtful, sweet gift for someone to make a dolly for you…and the dolly is YOU!!!
    Take care, dear heart.
    Miss Teresa

  10. Gina says:

Wow, how awesome! You know that means something when people are making mini doll versions of ya! Your loved!

  11. Alexandra says:

Hello, I simply love your cute little dog and the pictures that you take. Our golden is already five years old now. How fast they grow – just like children do! Your pictures are always so magic… Thank you! Alexandra

  12. Kelly says:

All dolled up and always somewhere to go! I love that about you and your twin Ms. V!
Now about your garden! I have a question, how do you grow so much when the ground is so hard in AZ.? What are your secrets?
I wonder if Miles will be pulling up the carrots next time. Cheers to living life to the fullest! <3 Kelly <3

  13. Rhonda Roo says:

oooohhhh my goodness-i don’t think the world could handle 2 roos (double trouble) but veevala bonita granda y veevala pequito = muy bueno! (dont know what happened there-i think there is a spanish roo in the mirror at my house!)
Actually we have alot of mirrors (kinda funny as we rarely preen in them, just take note how many layers of dirt are on us as we walk by) ;p and the mirrors reflect in each other and THAT can be pretty funky too!
My moms Jack Russell, BEAU, loves him some carrots-he gets ridiculously excited!! Her Pomeranian, Radar, prefers doggy treats of a cookie type. My dog (buddy the wonderdawg)thinks bread is the best thing since sliced brea-oh. well you know. 🙂
Cowboy and I are hoping to be gardening this weekend! yay.
    XOXOXOXVIVIVIVIVIROOOOXOXOXOXOX

  14. Emma says:

Mini Vanessa is totally fab! Your carrots look so delish. I’m hosting a giveaway over at Mimi and Tilly, so pop on over if you fancy entering. I’m giving away some silver and freshwater pearl earrings with a twist! Hugs, Em xx

  15. vicki cook says:

Hi vanessa ~ you are soooooo special, magical & talented! I love to stop by for a little dose of your “fanciful twist” on life!
And I am soooo in love with old mirrors and as always… your fab photos.
Thank you for sharing with us,
    – vicki xo
PS just gave birth to my 1st Mixed Media piece in FOR-EVER… i hope you can drop in for a sec XO

  16. Gillian says:

Homegrown veggies are the best. Love that mini Vanessa doll too! Bronwyn has one that Lisa Oceandreamer made her when she was a baby, that I don’t let her play with!! Maybe I should 😉
Your little carrots would make excellent muffins with some ginger in them.
As for old mirrors, I dream about them alot. Only I don’t see people looking back at me, I see myself in previous lives staring back at me. The last one was myself in ancient Egypt, Julian was beside me too…we were together even then. (Guess I’m stuck with him, life after life after life…LOL)
Oh how beautiful are you??? Very!

  17. michelle says:

She is darling and so are you! We haven’t seen your cute face in awhile!

  18. Tina says:

Miss Patricia is such a sweetie…and your little mini me is just adorable. Oh, the stories I could tell you about the mirrors in my place…especially the magic one I glimpse from my bed…

  19. I want the doll, want the dog, want the garden, want the carrots…

  20. MY O MY !!! I cannot say what it does to me to see the two of you reunited!
I love the photos and I see that you are initiating her to one of your wonderful arts? How sweet! I think mini V is one of the luckiest doll in the universe!
Does she giggle with you with her tiny mini voice? I can hear the two of you having fun and calling for the dogs in the garden.
Mirrors?Did you say mirrors? I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE mirrors!!!
It is a pitty I never see my reflection when I walk pass one though…
    :-p

  21. Linda Diane says:

How sweet that someone made a mini you and sent her your way! Can’t wait to see what kind of artistic endeavors mini you undertakes! Perhaps a mini painting is in the works?
So does Mr. Miles like his carrots cooked or fresh from the ground? I think a raw carrot would have a nice doggie-friendly feel to it, like a nice bone!

  22. marjorie says:

oh, just waking from a wee nap with Baby (I take my sleep when/where I may these days…tee hee) and found your beautiful tale of a mini me and carrots, too!! What a treat upon waking! I’m ever so sorry I’ve been neglectful of commenting in these past 2 months….but I have been visiting and always enjoying my stay…bunches and bunches, indeedy!! Your blog is such a constant delight!!!
Sending you (and mini Miss Muffinette) the sweetest of tea time wishes!!!🖤

  23. Lisa Swifka says:

she’s adorable, what a special treat AND lucky her to have celebrated in the UK!
Sometimes when I look in an old mirror like that I think it would oh so amazing to see in to the time the mirror was brand new. When whoever had it had hung it up the very first time and now you see in to their world many years ago. (and they wouldn’t know, it would be like watching a movie) Wouldn’t that be something?
    XOXO

  24. Ohhh..I missed this post. You put it up on the day I was at Disneyland!
Yes…and yes and yes…I love old mirrors! I have a vintage vanity that has triple mirrors. They are so lovely and imperfect and tarnished. I dream sometimes that I might look into the mirros and see a flapper looking back at me. Or…a lovely Edwardian period girl in a clean white dress and big hat. Then….I get scared and look away. Because really, what if that actually happened? Eeeekkk….

  25. Theresa says:

Dear Vanessa! What a beautiful doll – just as sweet as you are! That was truly a lovely gift. 🙂 There is something magical and charming about old mirrors – I agree. I’m not sure what I expect to find…maybe a portal to an enchanted land? 🙂 Those carrots, by the way, look wonderful. I love carrots. But for some reason I prefer them cooked to raw. Weird right? Have a wonderful night!!! Much love to you and the family! Theresa xoxo

  26. Cori G. says:

You are just too darling for words!! Both you, mini you, and mini Miles. I guess that makes all three of you, not just two…hee hee! But anywho, your carrots are super lovely and I’d imagine super sweet. What is it about puppies and carrots? Mine go nuts every time I pull them out of the fridge…not the puppies being pulled out of the fridge, silly girl. The puppies get excited when I pull the carrots out of the fridge, but now I think I’ll plant them in the yard so’s I can pull them out of the ground ;-).
Ooh old mirrors…I like to wonder about the people who once owned them and what did they see when they looked into the silvered glass…what were their thoughts, what were their dreams. These are things that remain to be unseen.
HAPPY FRIDAY MY BELOVED FANCIFUL FRIENDLING!!!!!

  27. Tara Bradford says:

Lovely doll, like her namesake. And I have two 1830 mercury glass mirrors which I prefer to a clear shiny new one. On some days, that soft hazy focus is a blessing! 🙂 xoxox

  28. two dolls…
    tsup! mwah! smooch!

  29. superbe !!! heu …I’v got my “mini me” made by papillon bleu too !! J’adore ton univers !!

  30. Juliet says:

I am so glad your Pup is doing well my new fur baby is 10 months old now and he weighs 20 lbs But I think thats is his full size 🙂
Mini Vanessa is lovely, when I read Patricia’s party post I thought you had brewed it together 😀 surprises are much better though.
I have an old 1930s oval mirror which has some of that speckled look to it and I love the way they have the bevelled edge which modern mirror glass does not. Who knows what lies behind the glass or through it 😀
I have been unable to spend much time either crafting, blogging or blog reading for some weeks now, it is good to find some time to catch up tonight, wishing you and mr lovey and the dogs a great spring season, Juliet

  31. Carl V. says:

Old mirrors are wonderful. I’m looking for a special one to put up in my new office and will hopefully find that special, magical one soon. Since everything in the space, furniture, etc. is new (and the building itself is brand new), I’m trying to decorate with a mixture of contemporary items and shabby chic antique store/flea market finds.
I’ve been fascinated with mirrors from as far back as I can remember, thanks in large part to the story of Alice in Wonderland. Through the Looking Glass…those four words always seem like the beginning of a powerful adventure.
The more tarnished mirrors make it easier to imagine that there is something mysterious going on just the other side of the reflection. I think you’ve found the perfect mirror for sparking imagination.
Always wonderful to see pics of you along with all the other inspiring images you share with us.
