A little fun in the middle of the week, on a warm and windy day, in June (wait June? It’s June???). We open our eyes to sparkles and twinkles… And, happy thoughts about little creatures finding homes fills the air…
I find out quickly, that I am the last one to wake… As there is a hustle and bustle of wee bodies, moving around, washing faces, brushing teeth, straightening hats… Assembling for this exciting day, when they might find a new home… A new adventure…
I feel sad and happy. They line up on the stairs. Waiting… for you…
The little faces peeking through the banister, make me smile. A tender feeling…
There is a surprise as well. You see, in the Magical Cypress tree grove, there are a bevy of little creatures, more pet like. A bit creature like. They decided they wanted to be adopted too… So, here they are…
They happen to have a sparkly-pearl essence to their coats… From left to right – meet… Chirping curly tailed Kookaburra, Miss Kitty Kat Queen Anastasia, and the tweetling songlet, Mr. Sweetie Griffin…
They are our little choir of sorts…
All the Wee Cypress tree Groves are complete… All whispering magical secrets, and helping grant little wishes…
So, all of those sweeties will be in my shop in about 5 minutes. At 6 p.m. this evening (June 4th).
My wee helper and I have been working at all hours. And watching sooooo many movies while we work. Normally it is all music while painting on canvas. But, while creating wee creatures in clay, it is all about movies…
So, my little one, wanted to draw you a picture, so you wouldn’t be soo afraid of her. And, she wanted me to reiterate, that she only comes to life & runs around at night while everyone is asleep (which is why her shoes are so scuffed up, from running in the dark). But, she makes sure not to get into too much mischief.
Unless of course. Mr. Lovee’s wee one happens to be awake. And, I dare say, he gets into tons of mischief. And, he does cause me to be spooked every now and then… This is a very old property, with old buildings here and there… And, well, finding this little guy peering through the windows can be a little unsettling… But he is very nice and not creepy at all, if you talk to him 😉
Although I have to be very careful with my imagination. Especially since I am in a scary movie watching wave these days. Something I had not done for YEARS. As I am quite capable of scaring the dickens out of myself without the help of The Shining or Amityville… There is just one movie I can not watch. It happens to have this tune in it (I will put an easy version in so you don’t get spooked). That one is a no no for me.
What are your favorite scary movie titles??? Did you watch them at slumber parties???
Do you remember going to slumber parties and having a ball???? OH do tellll!!!!! I love those stories!!! (slumber party photo – Hilarie Orman)

Oh Yay, we got a little guy! My wee friend from the last sale has been stomping around all day wanting me to get on the ball and get him a friend.
Scary movies…don't get me started. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! I am addicted to them. One of my all time favorites however is Poltergeist, the original. I watched it over and over when I was pregnant with my daughter, which actually says a lot about her. I love M. Night Shyamalan movies and am looking forward to his newest. I just have to figure out how to get away and see it without the kiddies. His movies are delicious, but not TOO scary, but I understand not everyone likes his style. Really, my list of favorites is too long to share, just know that I draw the line at child zombies crawling stop motion out of closets and such. That is just TOO creepy for me. Yuck!
Beautiful work as usual Miss V.! Woo-Hoo!!! I was able to snap up two wee elves and a set of Cyprus trees in that “blink and it’s gone” crazy fast update!
Your helper with the scuffed shoes? Yeah, we’ve discussed her before…..good plan putting a sharp object into her hand! And the only thing that would have made her creepier is if she were drawing a map with my house on it! Mr. Lovee’s “Chucky” doll….HOW do you sleep at night?
The movie(s) I will NEVER watch are any of The Omen movies. No way. The Exorcist I can do, but not The Omen.
Oh, and I dedicate this post to my almost BFF Max (the absconded elf). I know we would have had a long and happy life together. I had picnics planned, we were going to go camping with Vand….sigh….’twas not meant to be. So wherever you are my wee friend, may the wind always be at your back and the sun warm upon your face. 😉
off to the shop to see the wee folks. I love kook a burra.
and
no more scary movies for me! I gave them up about ten years ago. I don’t enjoy feeling scared or anxious. For me, I enjoy bliss and happiness and light and funness! That’s Fun-Ness!!!!
You is such a fun gal youself!!!!
Yes, YOu-self!
xoxo
Love ya, off to the shoppy poo….!
I’m off to see what is happening in the shop!!!!! So marvelous!
Oh no! No scary movies for me!! Mr. Lovee’s little man in the window is enough to give me nightmares. LOL But, all the sweet little creatures..they make up for him. So, so cute!!
How utterly adorable (as always!)! As for scary movies, I CANNOT watch them. At all. Ever. But slumber party movies, now…. naturally, Legally Blonde. Possibly The Devil Wears Prada, if only so that a violent conversation regarding the BLATANT anti-feminism of the film can then ensue. And finally, of course, the 1995 BBC Pride & Prejudice. All of it.
I’m glad I found your blog. It’s s so beautiful and poetic..
I’m glad I found your blog. So beautiful and poetic!
No scary movies!! No! And oops…silly me clicked on the link “what song could it be??” and now I’m sure I’ll have nightmares for…a long time!
cruds. I missed the update yet again…stoned kitties make for strange bedfellows. Ahem. I hate horror movies, they scare me to the ends of the Earth, I guess my imagination just goes to far. But…I lurve slumber parties! Especially ones with bar-b-q potato chips and pupcakes!
Oh, my, Oh my. I LOVE Scary movies. My nieces and nephews and I hunker down in our jammies with big bowls of ice cream (I scream) and find the very spookiest, very scariest. The boys tease my poor niece by pinching her at very inopportune moments and then we have to peel her off the ceiling and clean up all that exploded I scream. Then we all settle down and start watching again until the next pinch, which could really happen to anybody, so we all have to be very careful as the monsters gets closer…and …closer…and………
The Fall of the House of Usher was the only scary movie I ever saw and my last.. I got to scared.. Yipes. I really want to see Lord of the Rings bad, but I saw the trailers and the monsters were just like in my imagination.. they did a good job with those monsters. So, I told C if he would just load the movie onto his IPOD .. then I will watch it because the monsters won’t be as scary if they are only 1 inch.. but you never know! 🙂
Did someone already buy Kookaburra??? No!!!!
Scary movies? I like to watch them with other people. But I don’t care for them much by myself. They’re just not the same. It’s much more fun to be scared out of your wits with someone else who’s scared out of their wits. And then you don’t feel so silly for being scared of just a movie… Or sometimes that other person will just tease you ruthlessly for being scared of just a silly movie and will pinch you at very inopportune times… which is fun in it’s own way too.
And as for slumber parties… I was always the girl who would fall asleep around midnight, so I don’t remember much.
T
I love this post! Your dear little ones are adorable!
Hugs! Nancy
Oh I haven’t done scary movies in a LONG time — but I did do slumber parties and loved those!! We did Ouija instead of scary movies!!
Love all the little ones — they looked adorable lined up on the stairs waiting to go, waving good-bye!!!
oh vanessa! what lovely creations!
your imagination is splendid splendid splendid!!!
last scary movie i saw was the grudge and grudge 2…i was afraid to go to the bathroom alone. our old house is creaky and scary at night! i do love scary movies though—anything with a ghostie!
Awwww! They are so cute on the teeny stairwell!! Your elves are the sweetest little guys!!! Happy Mid-weekling to You, to You! 🙂
I’m excited to see ‘The Happening’ next week!! That’s my scary movie snippet for the day! : )
Rear Window by Hitchcock. The Village by M. Night
Both scary me silly each time! 😉
We should have an online slumber party one time and everyone watches the same movies at the same time and posts! heehee 😉
I used to love scary movies. In fact, The Shining is still one of my favorites, but I just don’t watch them anymore. Not since I saw The Ring. Now I know most people find that cheesy, but I saw it in theatres (which makes everything scarier) and it was plain ol’ creepy. I was seriously disturbed.
I keep on seeing these cute little shoes, sneaky peaks of your little one, tell her not to be so shy we all long to meet her.
Forgot to say that scary movies aren’t for me any longer, but I used to terrify myself so much when I was a teenager that I had to be taken to bed and tucked up like a little one. I checked under the bed for years after watching Friday 13th. But you know the best ones are the old ones there is this movie with Deborah Kerr (I think) based on The Turn Of the Screw, can’t remember what it’s called but it’s brilliant. Another that I can’t remember has a group of people telling scary stories, one with a ventrilquist dummy, now that is just too scary for words.
Slumber parties!
How I loved them… so much giggly fun and too much sugar.
see you, g
That creepy guy in the window IS creepy … but it reminds me of the movie Dummy, which is hilarious.
My favorite scary movie as a kid was Pet Semetary. So my son is 12, the same age I was when I watched that movie for the first time. We were at the movie store and he said he wanted to watch it. I have been waiting for his whole life for him to tell me he was ready to watch it. We brought it home and watched it in his room. Like 20 minutes into it he is just barley peeking above the covers. I didn’t know if I should stop it or just go with it. We kept watching and said he was fine. But after it was over he wouldn’t go into the kitchen alone to get a glass of water. He made me go with him. I knew he was terrified and I didn’t see this coming or I would have stopped it before it happened … but on the the way to the kitchen my boyfriend decides it would be funny to jump out from behind a wall and say “boo.” That was NOT funny. The poor kid screamed like a girl and started crying. So I sent my boyfriend to his room (hahaha!) and had to calm my son. My boyfriend felt like the meanest man on earth and my son was embarrassed for crying about it. I felt a mixture of so sad for my poor boy (I know the feeling of scared intimately), but had to laugh about it when I walked away and then felt like a mean mom for laughing. My boys … they keep life interesting.
Oh your little creatres have found new homes soo quickly! And I love the photo of them lining the stairs. No scarey movies for me, too vivid an imagination in my dreams to be adding frightenies into the mix!
this is my first time here
and i was blown away by this post…
these little creatures are
SOOOOOO
adorable…
i can’t wait to look around more!
{found you via small fox}
How cute are these little darlings??? Love, LOVE them!!!! Oh yes! Getting scared was a big part of my festivities growing up! In Columbus, on Friday nights at 11:00 pm, ‘Chiller Theater’ would come on. The title on the t.v. was in that creepy, blood dripping down font…and the announcer would draw out the ‘Chiiiillllllllerrrr TheeeeeAAAATTEEERRRR!!!!!’ I LOVED IT!! The scarier the better! We were just talking about this the other day..and I think the alltime scary movie for me still has to be the original ‘Aliens’ with Signorney Weaver! I remember clinging to my husband and unable to look a the movie screen through half of that show! IT WAS AWESOME!! : ) BOO!
These little people enchant me.
oh!
xoxo
Hi Vanessa, I was just looking around blogland and came across A fanciful twist. Your blog is great. You are so very talented! I am in Arizona too,,, Tempe. I just wanted to stop by and say hello…happy creating, gail
I adore your wee people! They’re so happy!!How cheerful to look at them all. Might I suggest they’d make wonderful wall paper for a desktop?
Miss Nessie Pooh! Your work is MAGNIFICENT, as always!!!!! It’s an utter delight every time I visit!
xoxoxo
Julie Bergmann
oooh you get called nessie pooh. that feels familiar 🙂
the wee ones are adorable. and they look like they are a little nervous to be leaving you.. but excited at the same time!
slumber parties and scary movies… ooooh… a few friends and i used to watch “the gate” when we were wee ones ourselves. that spooked us. and pet semetary… and then there was “It” which I wasn’t allowed to watch, which made me a sad little nessie. everyone was mad about that movie…
Your wee ones found new homes very quickly. I’ll have to see what you come up with next. I LOVE scary movies, but cannot watch them very late if I’m going to be home alone. Salem’s Lot use to be my most favorite, but upon watching it recently it pales in comparison to many of the new ones. I also like the new series on the cable channels where they are ghost hunting. Then ring was pretty scary…there are so many now and I just watched some previews of new ones coming out this week that look like they could totally freak you out.
Well Ms. V., looks like they have found their homes. : ) I know you are very proud of them. They are going to make alot of people HAPPY!!
Amy
Oh Miss V, I do so love your wee creatures all lined up on the staircase. Are they making their way down the stairs with their invisible suitcases and hat boxes getting ready for their flights to new homes?
So cute! Love the b&w photo of the slumber party. Alas, I don’t remember any slumber parties…
The Exocist! OMG, the scariest. halloween (the original) Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. You know all three have really scary songs/movie scores. Maybe it’s the music that pushes us over the edge??!! Do you watch them alone??
