Mermaid Sky…

We are being extra good around here.

Practicing our proper tea party skills.

Lemon snaps included.

Days 14

Everyone goes bonkers as Matty gets a treat from auntie.

Douglas wants one too, you can so tell.

He looooves food.

His fave thing?

Red bell peppers.

Weird, I know.

Days 13

We practice in the morning, in the evening.

Tiny sips too.

Days 1

Of course, you have to share with poor ole Beethoven.

Days 2

I swing like mad in crazy heat.

Prairie skirt in the wind.

We are under heat advisory.

Days 3

It's hot.

But swinging whilst eating popsicles is one of my most fave things.

Days 4

Pumpkin vines are growing madly with this renewed heat.

Days 6

So exciting!

Days 5

I looove the flowering leeks and onions.

The flowers always remind me of a tuft of pearls.

Days 7

The garden was moving a bit slow.

And since I plant everyone from seed, it can seem slower.

I think also, it is because we had such very chilly nights for an oddly long while this spring.

Now the heat seems to have woken everyone up.

Days 8

Super dog leaps into the veggie garden when the main gate is closed.

Fighting rodentia danger.

He is such an incredible jumper, not hitting the fencing at all.

Lifting his hind legs just in time.

One of my fave things is to see him jumping.

Super Miles 35

The bats have turned up for the summer.

At sunset they fly around as Matty goes crazy running around trying to catch them.

I don't think he knows that he doesn't have wings.

Days 10

The best thing I saw?

I saw a cotton candy mermaid cloud plunge into the bluest Cinderella sky.

Crescent moon included.

She started to dissipate as I ran for my camera.

But you can kind of see her up there still.

Diving into her mermaid sky.

Days 12

I caught a magical glimpse of the cottage during that same sunset.

It was actually the reflection of the cottage in a window.

I almost expected Anne of Green Gables to be laughing in the distance.

Or Nanny McPhee to fade into focus holding her bag and cane.

Days 11

Love those fairy light nights.

Days 9

I make evening pizzas.

(you can find my pizza dough recipe here)

One was everything veggie and the other was an experiment gone good.

Days 17

I minced fresh garlic and put it in about a half cup of olive oil.

When my dough was ready, I coated it in the garlic olive oil.

Then I super duper thinly sliced baby potatoes, and layered them over the garlic olive oil.

I sprinkled about a cup of fresh mozzarella around and dusted the whole thing in finely chopped fresh rosemary.

Oh my!

Sooo good.

Days 15

And now…

We continue to practice.

Days 16

Anything for an excuse to get to those lemon snaps.

They smell like an old fashioned bakery.

Sooooo delightful.

I think I spent a little too much time in the heat yesterday.

I am just getting over a bit of a day long heat headache etc.

I drink tons of water by default, but you have to be careful in that desert heat.

What is the weather serving up in your neck of the woods?

I love weather.

I am not sure why, but I do.

Looove, V

Sparkly heart

Another magical visit! I love the combination of your pups, your creative cuisine, and your gorgeous out-of-doors. This is such a soothing place to visit. Thank you for not getting tired of sharing with us!

  2. Miss Linda Diane!!! 3

That’s some mighty fine tea party practice in your lovely world. Matty is such a good boy for not hauling off and devouring the whole plate of delicious cookies!
    Stay hydrated and cool.
    Have a great day.
    Always Queenie

  4. Such a pretty dish to serve those treats up on, Vanessa! We are going to have to watch the weather here for our tea party ~ not too hot and humid; I’ll even take a little bit overcast, as we will be outside again this year. The past couple of days it has been just that ~ hot and humid or frizzy hair and sticky skin. : ) Pop up storms until Thursday when it is supposed to lose the humidity and a beautiful weekend in the forecast. I’m thinking we had better plan our tea party day for pictures very soon!
Thank you for the shout out ~ a lot of your fans have visited {almost 200 views} and commented!

  5. Alia says:

I “practice” drinking tea a lot too! Haha, I think I will be ready when party time comes. In my garden the heat is a little too hot. The plants like it, but they dry out so quickly I can’t seem to keep up with the watering! I think I need to set my automatic watering system to come on more often. I don’t really want the water bill to be higher, but I do want my plants to grow! The zinnias are doing magically as always (I think coming from your garden has that effect on things, but even the pumpkin vines get wilty while I am away at work!

  6. Aw, I love that you are making the doggies practice. My bird is addicted to peppermint tea! Your flowers look beautiful, what a paradise!

  7. laura says:

mmmm…lemon snaps! I love ginger snaps too! I’ve been pretty much stuck inside packing for my move that I’m not really sure what the weather is really like. I’m hoping to make a run to the farmers market tomorrow so I’ll get outside for a little bit.
    love & blessings
    ~*~
hugs & kisses to Matty, Miles and Douglas! 🙂

  8. Laura Tieri says:

I can’t believe your flying dog! I finally got my garden planted & had to put a fence around it. I used to put it up because of the bunnies & now because of the dogs trampling through it!
It’s been pretty warm & humid but it’s supposed to cool down a bit. Maybe severe storms tomorrow, I hope that changes!
I am pretty excited! I did my first workshop for Stampin’ Up today at a new customer’s house! There were 10 people!
I don’t usually like being in front of people like that but I put on my big girl panties & went for it!
I’m glad I did! It went well & a good time was had by all! I guess you sometimes have to just go outside of your comfort zone!
Everyone seemed to like the cards & little gifts that we made! I’ll always be my own best customer but that’s o.k.!
That pizza sounds interesting! I could live on potatoes in any way, shape, or form! Yum!

Serving up HEAT…. hitting 100 by the weekend…ugh… Thank goodness the Delta Breeze tend to kick up in the evenings and by 8pm i usually have all the windows open again…. We just spent several days further north up the coast of CA … up in the Redwoods and along Sheltercove. It was soooo nice and cool. I hated to leave.. We watched the sun fall into the Pacific Ocean and then slept with the balcony door open listening to the waves crash while all snuggled under blankets…. 25th Wedding Anniversary trip…..then we had to come back down to earth…..and go back to work…uughh… Hugs! deb

  10. Maria says:

Oh so lovely!!! Yes we had a hot day but it is a perfect cool night now. Lemon snaps look delicious and I want to swing on a swing too! 😀 very lovely! PIZZA! homemade pizza sounds delicious! Beautiful accidents in the kitchen are a blessing! Truly wonderful! Big hugs!

  11. Annalee says:

    Such beautiful skies!!! =D
And your pumpkin vines make me swoon…
The weather here in Washington has been really lovely. It’s in the 70s, and super sunny. Today is strangely breezy, but it smells so good outside that I just want to park myself on my porch, lean back and sniff the air for hours on end. ^_^
    XOXO

  12. Oh Laura, what fun!!!
You know, I have not had to reprimand Miles because he isnt a destructive
dog and I dont mind him chasing rodents. But imagine if he was digging up
my whole garden? I would have a fit. My boys are pretty good thank
heavens. I have a friend whose dogs are horrid. They even ripped up
    her couch, eeeeeks!!
I am so glad your stampin party was a hit, hooooray!! Maybe you have
inspired me to step out of the box… hmmm, what could I do??Bungle
jump? eeek, no… maybe not, haha!

  13. Oh what a marvelous trip!!!
It was about 64 here last night but was 110 during the day. Thank
goodness there is zero humidity 😉
    Happy Anniversary!!!!

  14. Homemade pizza is the only pizza I like, and its sooo fun to make
    😉

  15. Oh what glorious weather you are having!!!
    😉

  16. Mmmmm…Potato pizza…like a Potato Galette but with delicious crust. I used to be able to get an incredible pizza that had mashed potato, herbs and cheese on it at UNO pizzeria. Sadly, they took it off the menu. I’ll have to try and replicate it.

  17. DogsMom says:

I love your expression “experiment gone good.”
I may have to use that.

  18. Betty says:

Oh, Miss Vanessa! On another horrible and cold rainy day here in the mountains of Western Maine, I would give just about anything to be there swinging and eating popsicles in the heat! How lovely it would be! I loved the beautiful colors of the sky with the cotton candy clouds! Too, too lovely! And your potato pizza! It looks too yummy! We will have to try it!
Sending hugs to you and to all of the boys who are being so good practicing their best tea party manners!
    Betty

  19. It was so hot today, it felt like I was walking in a space suit through a
fire ball !!!!! PLease take some with you, pleasssseeeeee 😉
    xoxo

  20. Jenn says:

That pizza looks amazing V, a local restaurant around here has a pizza called PEI pie. It’s got a garlic and olive oil base, then lots of cheese, red onions, garlic potato slices and bacon. And a big dollop of sour cream in the middle! It is soooo yum! Can’t believe the jumping your pup is doing. We were told it was risky, but we shaved Remington for the summer! Just a furry head and tail, and short hair everywhere else. Looks like a lion cub!

  21. Renee says:

Lemon cookies and pizza, two fo my faves.
The garden looks great. We had our first squash from the garden today 🙂

  22. Patrice says:

My garden has been slow here in Oklahoma too! Still cool here for June and rain, rain, rain! I hear the weatherman saying great for our drought situation but, I am ready for some hot Summer days! Also, I am old soul too. Lots of turn of the century stuff at our newish house. I love that my old furniture has been a part of many lives and experiences. I know my 1910 buffet has been at many family feasts and tons of parties! Wish it could share stories sometimes….
