There is a message stirring up in the garden.
A message for you and you and you, and me!
It is loud and clear.
Can you guess what it is?
It’s beckoning.
Begging us to plunge.
It twirls through the garden, stopping to dance in the breeze, right where hollyhocks meet Oriental poppies.
Everyone can hear it.
Even the roses know it’s on its way.
Can you guess?
Are you getting warmer?
Poppies, tell them please.
Did someone say hollyhocks are made out of star centers?
Somewhere where twinkling wishes and petal seeds collide?
Beautiful secrets dance on antique child pianos.
It’s the language of the flowers they say.
They even say that, at midnight, the sound of flowers is like the intense but faint laughter of little children.
Can you believe it?
Okay, I made it up.
But only because I think it’s true 🙂
Boys frolic madly just thinking about what’s to come.
(The little guy is my nephew Douglas. My sis adopted him when he was 9 weeks old, and he just turned 10 years old a few days ago – my goodness, 10 years old.)
Even the wild rambling flowers outside of the garden cottage go positively Disney on us.
I collect roses to dry for the occasion.
It’s clear as garden days.
It’s staring right at us.
Through mirrored portals in trees.
Make a wish?
Very merry adventures?
Wells, have you guessed yet?
Poof.
Wish made.
Set free.
Because my dear kindred friends…
I do declare.
It’s about time!!!!
Magic.
Tea.
Top Hats.
Get it?
Are you game this year?
I mean honestly, what would summer be without the maddest of most magicalest tea parties???!
I am plotting and planning.
Tell me, tell me, tell me….
Are you game this year?
Should we totally go for it?
Looooove, V

The warm weather returned this week and I am already planning lots of parties and yummy food 🙂

Oh! I was just thinking about this!!! I really, really want to, but I just signed a contract on my house and will be moving about when we did it last year. I’m still going to maybe try to play too…

Yaaaaaaaay! I love it when you signal the start of our tea parties. What’s ironic is I was thinking about this several days ago and how much I’d love to be a part of it again. You know me, any old excuse for a party – tea or otherwise. ‘;)
Side note, such magical roses. I want to bury my face in them and inhale their scent.
Yes! Yes! I am soooo excited about the Mad Tea Party!!!
Last year my computer crashed just before the event…
So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything is fine this year so I can participate!
Fun! Fun! Fun!
=^..^=
The Cheshire Cat is Ready!!!
Squee!!! I was just thinking last night (early this morning, really…) as I was laying in bed, getting ready to fall asleep, that it was about the time of year for a certain magical tea party to be coming our way… I’m so glad it is! =D
I was probably thinking of magical tea parties due to my earlier adventure of reading my newest cookbook “Alice’s Tea Cup” cover to cover before bed… is it strange that I’ll read a cookbook like I would a story book? Not that it matters… I’ll keep on doing it. ^__~
So, YES! A thousand times yes. I am so excited for a tea party of the magical, mad variety, I might just go do cartwheels… <3
I hope your weekend is going splendidly!
XOXO
I’m in! This will be my third year and my unusual take on Mad Tea Party festivities.
Muya from Thrift Shop Commando.
I love this! I’m in!
Yes, yes! Yes please, yes! I’ll get the kettle on!
Oh! You know I cannot wait, Dearest Dear Miss Vanessa!! By the way, to get you inspired, if you haven’t heard a band yet called Ödland, from Lyon, I highly suggest you do so! Their first album called Ottocento is made up of songs that were mainly inspired by Alice in Wonderland!! The music just makes me happy and we have been listening to it non-stop for weeks now!]
Hugs to you and your lovely garden (and every other lovely person and thing in your world!)
Betty
Ooooohhhh yes please!!!! I am back and with a vengeance and so ready to party with a certain haberdasherist (is that even a word?), cat and rabbit! Life got in the way last year but not this time! Count me in!!!!
I adore your blog and your garden is an inspiration. I have a new one that my sweetie and I just put in. In time… in time…
Hope you are splendid, it looks like it! Tons of love to you!!!
Tricia

Yea yea i can´t wait….tell me when…!!!!
Have a nice day
Kerstin
A tea party? Since I am new to your blog, I’m not quite sure what you are talking about but it sounds intriguing and fun and I suspect I will be “in” because — well, I think I might miss something delightful if I’m not! Perhaps my tiny Queen Mum tea set will make an appearance!
But of course, ready when you are Vanessa……
The grands and I have been keeping a keen eye out for your announcement. We also have been gathering new things along the way to use for our Tea Party entry…..
Oma Linda and the Cuckoos at the Casa
I’m new here — a virtual tea party? whatever it is, sounds magical. I’m visiting here from Denise’s, and love your blog. I’m a new follower. going to make a cup of tea, and read some older posts!
sounds perfect. count me in
Vanessa, I’ve been blogging for six years and I have seen your name around Blogland and I’ve heard about your party. I have never attended, and time does not permit me to join, but WHAT FUN you have stirred up in this wonderful world of kindred spirits. Happy planning and I love your talking garden…POOOF! Anita
