Are you still tea sipping or are you starting the recovery process?
One does need massive naps in droopy hammocks after eating endless crumpets.
Wouldn't you say?
I am starting my recovery so that we can have a little time off before Halloween party planning turns up.
Isn't it odd, how close autumn is all of a sudden?
Yet, it's soooo hot and summery, that I am not ready to think fall quite yet.
The party was beyond fun, visiting you all was wonderful!!!
Thank you for plunging in and making it what it is.
I had a blast!
Around here intense heat causes monsoon rain clouds to get happy and perhaps give lovely showers.
And you know what rain means?
A much desperately needed day off for me in the Southern Arizona desert from garden chores.
Oh goodness, what a joy to have a day off.
I lollygag making clay sculptures and writing letters.
Enjoying every minute of a cloudy day.
Watching The Invisible Woman.
Folding lace.
However, if you know me, then you know that I LOVE water.
And if there is water, I will be in it.
Off come the shoes and striped socks.
In I go.
Wading through pools of water.
Admiring orange tree silhouettes in puddles.
Foraging for dinner bits and bobs in the veggie garden.
Hiding on the porch.
Singing in the rain for certain.
Watching the plants get so happy.
Closing the umbrella a bit so water will roll off into pots.
Loving every second.
Watching a volunteer patch of grass grow.
Loud monsoon storms are the best.
Lightning, thunder, hail.
I love hail.
You have to enjoy it because 20 minutes after it rains the sun might come back full force.
Miles watched the rain from the office.
I clap like a child over pools of water.
The desert is delighted.
I peek around the garden with a towel over me like a ghost costume.
I watch pumpkin vines explode.
As my gardens get the best hydration they have had in months and months.
I shiver soaked to the bone.
Cozying up to Mister Lovee.
But head out a second time with a new towel.
No umbrella for me, thanks.
I watch glorious and huge volunteer zinnias grow.
And as afternoon clouds make a little space, the sun peeks out.
Gifting those amazing monsoon sunsets.
And the next day, rain again.
As I sit by and pray for more rain.
And more rain.
But instead we get crazy hot sun.
Although, I am still wishing + waiting for more rain.
With great hope.
Because then I can take another chores morning off, and do terribly fun things.
Finish sewing some dresses for some little gals I can't wait to share.
And, sketch a little.
Are you rested up, still partying??
Thank you again, MTP 2014 was a blast!!!
xoxo
Love, V

Glad to see you are relaxing after all that hard work for the Mad Tea Party! You did a fabulous job once again, and I hope to participate next year. xoxo
The monsoons make me so happy! My zinnias are like 4 feet tall, the crazies. I wish it would storm every day during monsoon season, not just have teasing clouds off in the distance, but I guess we have to take what we can get!
Alia, we have had the best monsoon ever so far, lots of rain whenever the
clouds roll in. Usually it rains 4 streets over and not on my road
🙂
My first Mad Tea Party was a blast! I met some wonderful friends! Next year I will take my time…I hopped through all the blogs in two days! That was exhausting…but fun! Thank you Miss Vanessa for having the MTP yearly!
I am coveting your shoes and your rain.
I’ve just now finished visiting all the MTP’s. It was so much fun! I’ve been watching the weather channel forecast all those storms in your area and thought about you. I know how much you love the rain. We’ve had a few cool days here. This morning was fabulously cool and I played in my new patio/garden space for a few hours.
Hope you get more rain!
love & blessings
~*~
ps…i still love those shoes!
pss…hugs & kisses to the furbabies
I think we’re on the same wavelength..or is that rainlength? ‘;)
With the exception of work, I’ve been resting, dreaming of MORE rain, and you know me and how I adore Halloween. I’m NEVER not thinking about it or planning for it — but a panic hit me the other day. That I haven’t enough time until the best holiday arrives! Only 105 days and 23 hours left to plan and start building stuff, especially COSTUMES! Squee! LOL.
I love these!
I am still trying to get through all the tea party posts, ha ha. Oh dear, they are lovely but there are so many! My wombat was so jealous of missing out on all the parties so he will be having his own on Wombat Friday instead!
Oh! Your rain looks like fun! fun! fun!
To go barefoot in rain is the ticket!
I had a smashing good time at all of the Mad Tea Parties!
I think this was one of the bestest years yet!
God knows California needs rain…it just doesn’t rain much here anyhow…maybe 12 inches a year in the central valley.
The Sierra Mts. haave had lots of clouds over them for the past month, off and on, and it has rained up there, 20 miles away. But the state doesn’t count that as water for the valley floor, as it’s the snow that provides the streams and lakes with water. The rain just soaks into the Redwood Forests and barely any reaches the valley. And there hasn’t been any snow on the mountains for well over a month.
And that’s the way it is!
Awesome rain photos!
lots of hugs,
Miss Teresa
Thank you so much for hosting this Blog Hop.I loved seeing all the lovely things people set up.What an effort some folks went to.I wasn’t able to participate this time, but will next time.I love rain too. It has a magical quality, and always makes me think of childhood? Not sure why. I have a book celebrating Alice..I will send you the photo of book if you’d like.
Vanessa, you deserve a break after all your hard work hosting this party. Thank you so much, and thank you for leaving a lovely comment on my tea party post. I can’t wait until the Halloween party!
Your photos of the rainy goodness made envious. Here in the Southern California mountains we’ve had huge, rain-laden clouds…but they dropped all of their rain down in the San Bernardino valley. I’m happy they (and you) got rain, but I wish these mountains could get a good drenching. Too bad I can’t fly, I’d take a really looooong hose and give everything a good drink!
Blessings,
Victoria from Brushstrokes
Yes! It was super fun visiting so many new blogs! All but one were brand new to me! Thanks for hosting. Really looking forward to next time!
Blessings,
Sarah
Oh. I love summer rains too even if they are a bit colder and more frequent here. It means that I don’t have to water my plants. I love the combination of the striped stockings and your beautiful shoes!
I am still trying to get to all the parties! Everyone seems to have outdone themselves this year! I am having great good fun, but I still have a bunch to get to! I am so hoping you will be able to leave all the links in your sidebar for a few more days! ! ! Thank you for putting together such great entertainment for all of us! ! ! 🙂
It’s a great time to relax from such busy work. The Mad Tea Party was a lot of work but oh, so much fun. I now can make a big sigh.
It’s been raining here (Michigan) too. Kind of a wet summer but warm. I am not looking forward to fall. I love the colors but wish it was warm all the time.
Thank you for all of your hard work, it was a blast.
I had a really wonderful time at the Tea Party, did need a long rest afterwards though. 🙂
Mz. V….your tea party was on my birthday this year….thank you!
Vanessa I LOVE everything about that first picture!!
The Mad Tea Party was WONDERful!! I am looking forward to the Halloween Party, too!
I know ya’ll need the water, but where I live, it’s been raining for months now on a daily basis and I wish I could send some of it out West! Enjoy your reprieve from partying!! Hugs
if you could send some rain you would fix soooo much heartache. In
fact, supposedly we will run out of water in the west in 5 years. WHOLEY
SMOKES!! What will we do??? I hope the state does not take our well
here in the country. Because we have a glorious producing aquifer,
eeeeks!!
Miss Linda, here it is scorching hot all the time. Its like being in
a frying pan your whole life, well maybe only May through October 🙂 So
grey days and rain is more than heavenly here, like the best gift of the earth
ever. You can almost see the earth sigh with relief. I wish I could
send you some of our hot days to create some form of balance
😉
Oh my you are having kookoo weather down there! Perhaps the weather caught the Madness bug we all seem to have shared? I had such a lovely time at each and every party, thank you so much for being the hostess with the mostest!
Miss Jenn, its monsoon season in the desert, and it is fun unpredictable
madness every single year. Basically it is always 105 F +in
summerand then the clouds roll in, in July and you never know if you will
be graced by a storm. You know you might get rain to happen when the earth
gets hotter than anyone can bear, this causes the clouds to get strong, and then
potentially rain and hail. The thunder and lightning, just glorious!
Imagine being so thirsty you think you might die and just when you are on the
verge it rains. That is what it feels like here. And then you dance
in the rain until you are soaked.
It could flood on your street and not rain 5 streets over at all.
Sometimes if you are very lucky it will be cloudy all day, but mostly monsoons
only happen in the afternoon. Although I had a glorious sprinkle morning
today.
Sometimes after a massive rain storm in the afternoon, the sun comes back
out in full force so it gets very hot and humid. A rare painful treat
really, as normally it is so dry here if you arent careful you will crack like
a lollipop dropped on concrete 🙂
Also, you must be very careful during monsoon season.
Why?
Well, because so much rain can come down so quickly and in such a short
time, it causes washes and streams and riverbeds that are normally parched dry
to massively scarily flood.
Hence the term, Flash Floods in the desert 😉
I LOOOOVE monsoon season, what a madtime indeeeedy. So there
you go, more thanyou ever wanted to know on that topic, haha 😉
Oh how you taste every morsel of life, Vanessa, and how happy I am that you share it with us.
I love the rain, but after living in South Florida for over 40 years, I’ve suddenly developed a phobia for lightening. Not in the right place for that, am I. 😉 Looking forward to the end of summer when our weather is perfect…and to October, always October.
I’m now resting a little after the party, but still visiting with some of your guests. I have SO enjoyed myself.
xoxo’s
Thank you for hosting this very special party.
It was a total delight!
Vanessa,
MTP 2014 was Awesome!!!! Thanks again for being our Hostess!
Xo
Haha yeah, I always feel like I am cursed because I can always see huge storms all around, but then the spot over where I am is still sunny. However, this year the storms have already been more and better than last year, so I am happy!
I’m glad you’re getting some much needed rain my friend! And my head is still spinning with delight over the party this year! It was the best ever! And I had….are you ready for this? 99 comments! I couldn’t believe it! How much fun is THAT? Thank you so much! Sweet hugs, Diane
I am partied out ✨✨✨✨ but enjoyed every tea party I attendedðŸ‘
I wanted to tell you I planted pumpkin seeds …..and guess what ?…..I have vines with beautiful yellow
Flowers!!!!!!ðŸ‘😊
So when will the baby pumpkins come? 🎃
We in Texas have been getting plenty of rain and it has been beautiful cool weather for the last few daysðŸ‘
You and your enjoy your day💞
xoxo Gina
Gina, you will get lots of male flowers before the females turn up, and
then hopefully the insects and bees will do their job and pollinate for you, but
you can always hand pollinate to help them along 🙂
Rain just doesn’t seem as much fun here. Maybe because we get it so often? Of course it was kinda dry out there so we were thankful for the couple of days of rain we just had. Got too hot and dry for the corn. But the zuchinni, butternut and yellow squash are growing like crazy.
I spent yesterday making blackberry jelly and jam and canning green beans. It was a rainy day so a good day to do those things.
Oh this, this is just pure rain and hail magic! I can almost hear the drops chiming on your hanging tea set!! I love that idea!! Swooon and swirls and cheers and frolics to your magical garden world!!!! : )
Ah, another AZ Gal that Loves the Monsoon Season as much as I do! Nothing smells better than the Desert after a good storm! Everything springs to Life from dormant slumber thru the drought Seasons. We’re ready to have a big Monsoon Storm tonight… the overcast skies have given us a respite from the intense 116+ degree days we’ve been enduring… and though humid, the thermometer is dropping to reasonable levels now. Yes, I have recovered sufficiently from my Blog Partying… and looking forward to the long Holiday Season rushing up upon us! We’re having a Christmas In July Event at our Antique Mall, so Princess T and I just got finished decorating one of my Showrooms for it… what FUN!
