Mad Tea Party 🖤 2015

Hello fellow dreamers!

Welcome to our 8th annual Mad Tea Party 🖤

Oops, looks like someone may have eaten the caterpillar!

Mad tea party 11a

Lovely meeting again, in that place where wishes flutter on the breeze of flipping book pages.

Where imagination is limitless and stories live on for 150 years and more.

Thanks to Lewis Carroll, we meet on this 150 year anniversary of Alice in Wonderland.

Mad tea party 22

In 1865, a dreamer too, wrote a tale so inspiring and magical that it lives on and defines a part of our imagination in ways not even he could have imagined.

Mad tea party 9

We clink to a magnificent tale and the man who thought it up 🖤

Mad tea party 24

So that we could continue partying like it's 1865 year after year!

Generation after generation.

Mad tea party 25

And so we plunge…

Mad tea party 29

Into the mad tea party chapter.

Because really, what's anything without a little madness?

Mad tea party 27

Sweets and treats.

Teacups stacked from here to there.

Mad tea party 26

It's time it's time!

The light of golden hour flickers in…

Mad tea party 7

As we gather right outside the fairy bower.

Mad tea party 21

A perfect place to sip and munch before deciding to plunge through the arbor into wonderland.

Mad tea party 10

Candy coated chocolates roll about the table.

As cakes call your name.

Mad tea party 1

I thought the baby pig was cute, so I stole her from a previous chapter.

Who wouldn't want to gaze upon ruffled flowers and maybe swallow a cake or two?

Even pigs do.

Mad tea party 2

Sparkles and petals and happy things galore.

Mad tea party 8

Pretties and buttercream and sipping tea with striped strawers?

Mad tea party 14

Little moon faces made out of sugar and edible glitter beg to be dunked…

Mad tea party 16

In they go…

Mad tea party 31

Swirling to and fro.

Then sipped for ultimate magical experience at any tea party.

(learn how to make your own here)

Mad tea party 6

Petals float in tea cups.

Mad tea party 5

Top hats get passed around.

Mad tea party 12

Piggies eat cookies too 🙂

Mad tea party 13

Stardust flutters about.

Mad tea party 28

Even tiny edible stars turn up on queen cakes just for you.

Mad tea party 30

We read aloud with great respect for sheer madness!

Mad tea party 32

And then it's time for making wishes.

Mad tea party 3

Wishes made in pennies and keys and sparklies.

Who knows, one might even come true for you?

Note that, the one activated wish on the bottom right is not photoshopped.

Hmm, perhaps it's yours?

Yes yes, it must be!

Mad tea party 19

Golden light casts its spell…

Mad tea party 20

As the clock strikes…

Time for you to decide if you will stay and have tea or venture further into your dreams?

Mad tea party 17

Anyone willing to go first?

Oh, here we go, first brave soul.

In he goes…

Wonder what his wish would be?

And what he thinks he might see?

Mad tea party 18

The question is, will you follow?

And what do you hope to find?

We'll be here waiting to hear your tales.

Mad tea party 4

Sloshing our tea about.

Nibbling until our buttons pop.

Laughing until we have to lay on the ground holding our bellies.

Mad tea party 33

Dreaming forever and more if we can.

We'll rhyme and joke and confuse everyone who stops in.

Which of course, you know you're welcome to stop in any time, don'tcha?

Morning, noon, night, we'll be here.

Yes yes, right here.

Ready to fill up your cup.

So never fear, someone just like you is always near.

A dreamer, a whimsian, a tender hearted imaginarian.

Waiting to mad tea with you.

So glad you came and could stay and so hope to see you again.

Hoooooray!

Hooray for believing no matter what anyone says.

I believe, this is one thing I know to be true.

And, I have a feeling, so do you!!

Just like our friend, Lewis Carroll.

Happy 8th annual mad tea party my friends!!

Thanks for joining in, either by hosting your own event or being a lovely guest.

It's always so much fun because of you! 🖤

Lots of love, Vanessa

Feel free to visit past parties here.

Sparkly heart

ps:  If you are a party participant please leave your party link in comments, it will serve as an archive for years to come 🖤

pss:  If possible, please remember to leave your tea party post up for a few days.  It takes us all several days to make all those visits, thank you!

  21. Happy 150th to one of the most cherished books of all time!
Vanessa, your magical world of whimsy enchants us each year. Thanks so much for hosting! The Mad Tea Party is one of the highlights of our summer. This year my girls and I laughed, giggled, and celebrated my youngest daughter’s 18th birthday. As they were growing up, we had at least one or two tea parties peer month, and each one had a theme that one of the girls picked. We relived one of those this past week.

  66. Oooo! I’ll make a wish on that bright shining light. Making wishes is so magical!
Your party was delightful, glorious, whimsical, with yummy treats too many to choose from!
And many thanks we owe Lewis Carroll for his timeless tale of Wonderland. We all need an excuse to be ‘mad’ and to have tea and treats at the same time!
Thank you for this eighth Mad Tea Party. Where does the time go? Or maybe we are ageless after all and time doesn’t really matter. Maybe when we turn an hour glass upside down we are really moving backwards? ‘The door mouse is talking backwards’ as The Jefferson Airplane sang years ago. Maybe that is what Wonderland is all about, in a world of upside down and going backwards in time. That suits me just fine.
Anyway, it’s good to have a day to just relax and go to bloggers’ mad tea parties all day long (well, almost all day long!)
Thansk again for the wonderfully frabulous time!
XO with sugar and spice and everything nice!

  77. Susan says:

As usual your party was fantastic! I totally missed the time of year to check your blog, I do not visit here often enough, for shame. Anyway I would played in, if I had known, especially if I had known it was the 150th anniversary of the book, which I have yet to read. I have read shortened versions in kids books that leave out most of the details. I ‘ve watched the disney movie a few times. I have enjoyed being a part of this blog hop 4 times. You never cease to amaze me!
Hugs, Susan from Pieces of Fate

  78. Susan says:

My comment did not come up. I totally missed out this year, mind on other stuff. As usual your party was grand! I would have loved to play along this year, especially being the 150th anniversary of the book (which I did not know). Loved it all, you never cease to amaze me!

Yay! Your tea parties are always amazing, but I especially love the soft color palette this year. Everything is so lovely! I am sad I couldn’t participate, but I have been out of town. Happy tea partying!

  90. A few weeks I go I saw your invite post and was inspired to read the book with my boys, and my bestie and I decided to host a Mad Tea Party with our friends. A few of the families also read the book on their own or with their kids, and we had a blast coming together for the Tea Party. I wasn’t able to participate on the day of your virtual “Tea Party,” but just wanted to let you know that this all wouldn’t have happened had I not seen your invite some time ago. So, thank you! http://www.justanotherdaywithkids.com/2015/07/14/150-years-of-alice-adventures-in-wonderland/
