Welcome friends!!
Time to plunge into our yearly Mad Tea Party magic.
Twinkles dance about as tea pots are filled.
Sparkles on top hats, a sign of all that is good.
Beckoning you to skip through the garden arbor.
Into a fantasy world of the perfectly real and true variety.
Don't be shy, come on in.
Garden cherubs in top hats lead the way.
As our beloved friends greet us into the mad tea journey.
That's how you know you are in the right place.
I hope you put on your bestest paper frock for the event?
Here we goooooo…
It's time!
Don't be late!
Follow the glittering path.
Through the tea cup arbor…
Kiss your toadling pal, won'tcha?
He eats glitter, just to make sure he is extra magical every year 😉
Oh there it is, the party itself, with goodies overflowing!
Come in, come in, let's twirl and dance our way through.
The ambiance is dreamy in the dusty desert lands today.
Under fluffy dark rain clouds we are greeted by fairy tales.
Thank goodness for Alice in Wonderland.
She brings us back to this place…
And by the way, how rude am I?
I must wish…
A very merry unbirthday, to you, and you, and you!
Find a spot, there's so much to nibble and so many tales to chat about.
Which plate will you choose?
Are you into cupcakes?
Because we have oodles just for you.
And fancy cups and saucers too!
I am so glad you are here, thank you ever so much for stopping in.
Why do pretty mad tea things make everything taste better?
They do I tell ya, they do!
It's time for lemon cookies and dunking in tea.
Please don't worry about your manners around here.
No way, no sirree!
If you aren't into tea we have fizzy orange drinks.
Or flower water?
Yumm yumm!
Carnations on cupcakes make me so happy.
Oh and look, the Earl showed up too!
Or do you prefer your tea leaves loose?
Whatever you choose, it's magically infused.
Trust me it's true!
The tree is canopying just perfectly, giving us a spot to read a little Lewis Carroll.
Sluuuuuurp!
Oh excuse me.
🙂
Look who wants lil' treats as well?
Flufferfurlington?!
I for one am in love with the cucumber and watercress sandwiches the mad hatter made.
He did indeed.
He was so busy in the kitchen today.
Oh look at the time!!
Are you mad yet?
I certainly hope so.
We all need a little madness every now and then.
Here, take some flowers for your hair or lapel.
Did someone fill the pot again??!
Oh my, oh me!
Okay, I'll take another.
I am madly jumping from seat to seat, yes I feel it, it's madness indeed.
Perhaps the mad tea party was so mad because everyone had way too much cake and caffeine?
Fill'er up, more and more!
Now the milk, miam miam meeee!
Oh and, look who finally managed to snag a treat.
Or two.
Cutiecutes!
Fizzy lifting drinks indeeeeed!
Oh, forgive me, I never used a utensil, not a spoon, not a fork.
Who would ever do such a thing at a mad tea party anyways?
OH!
It's Lady Grey as well, I do say!
Red velvet roll anyone?
Be a dear and sneak up here and read me a page or two, won't you?
I'll unwrap…
Taffy for you as you go along.
Nothing better than having pages read by someone with taffy in their mouth.
It's utterly amusing!
Did you cut more flowers than we have space for?
Oh, don't fret, pop them in the tea pot over here.
Double Sluuuuuuuuurp!
Tender little petals aren't they?
Zinnias on cupcakes make me extra happy!
Ribbbbbit!
Ooooo, what a wonderful time!!
Twirls and twirls and twirls and twirls!
It's been such a marvelous afternoon, hasn't it?
As the hottest summer sun starts to fade away…
Dusk is upon us, with its blueish twilight.
The time where madness and magic unite.
Largest full moon peeks out from behind the rain clouds…
Asking us to stay up all night.
And why oh why would we ever want to say goodnight?
So we stay, and dance under moonlit bluest skies, through the arbor of lights.
A mad tea party all night is how we play.
As night begins to turn into another day!
Earliest dawn creeps in.
It's where we shall stay, and party like it's 1865 until our feet can no longer go on.
And only then shall we say……
Thank you for coming, and hopest of hopes to see you next year!
Oh my dearest fellow mad tea partiersssss!!
You are lovely and swell, it was great having this magical soiree with you again!
If anyone would like to visit other parties from years past, here ya go…
If you are hosting your own tea party today, please don't forget to leave your party link in comments.
It will serve as a lifelong archive, and an easy way for others to find you after the party has come and gone.
Also, please leave your party post up a few days, as it takes several days for people to make visits.
We are getting ready for a huge storm, so my power may be in and out this weekend.
But luckily, we were here today, hooooray!
I so look forward to visiting you all!
Loooooooooove, V
Let the partying continue!!
ps: If I visit your blog and you are a participant, but I see no mad tea post, I am sorry in advance but I will remove your name off the list. I understand life happens so don't fret, I won't be cross at all. If you happen to get a post up and want to be re-added email me k? Thanks for understanding.

I feel like I was just transported to the real Wonderland! I love how all of your photos have this slightly eerie, whimsical, and ethereal quality to them! And of course, we cannot forget the glitter. Alice would appreciate the glitter. And the tea! My goodness, the tea and cakes and various assortment of china was just perfect for the occasion. 🙂
I hope you will do me the honor of visiting my very own mad tea party, and join me for a cuppa over at Sunday Post?

Thanks so much for the invite Vanessa to your mad and glittering tea of delights. I’ve had the most wonderful time and couldn’t resist trying on you top hat. Thank you so much for allowing me in even though I don’t wear frocks. My wife is very strict on that matter! There is nothing better than magical tea and cucumber sandwiches, especially when everything is decorated with flowers. I thought twice about kissing that toad, but since he was covered in sparkly things, I figured I might just turn into a prince if I did. I did, but I didn’t. Oh well. It was worth a try. Thank you so much for a fantastically wonderful time!
My tea party is on my blog here: http://wjcsdigitalworld.blogspot.com/

Ack! There was a weird, very WONDERLAND kind of wacky, technical glitch earlier and my entire comment to you was lost. Hahaha. Geesh.
I just wanted to tell you how amazing you are and how much fun I have knowing there’s an event at least twice a year that I can go crazy on and unleash my creative side. So, THANK YOU Vanessa for hosting them. We all love you tons.
Side note, I NEED a fizzy drink now…that and maybe some Red Velvet Sponge Cake roll, too. Yum! 🙂
Ahhhh….Miss Vanessa! MAGICAL as always. So sorry that I was not able to participate this year, but I could not pass up the opportunity to come and see the enchantment that you weave for your party. Such treats, and I love that paper dress! Wishing you and everyone a most happy Unbirthday! xoxox
Perfectly fanciful party! I love the dog snitching a treat 🙂

What a beautiful tea party Vanessa! So sorry I couldn’t join in this year but I enjoyed it nonetheless! xx
Vanessa, how I love to look at your lovely photos! Wish I had been able to sit down at that table and have some tea and whimsy with you. I especially hanker for a taste of those cucumber and cress sandwiches.
Of special delight were the tea cup wind chimes and the glitter everywhere. They made it so very magical.
I’m sorry I did not reciprocate this year. Plans were discussed and debated, just not executed. I did, however, post a small hat tip to your day by way of thank you note for the pleasure of enjoying your party. Hosting blogsters can find my thank you at

I’m scheming for next year. Does that make me early instead of late?
WOW! You have totally outdone yourself 🙂 Everything is magical and fun. Every space is full of fun and sparkles. The spice of life is in the air. Our senses are full of all that is in this space. Taking the time to inhale and peer about. Your ideas are “Mad”. Your genius is…unbelievable. Thank you for hosting this years Mad Hatter Tea Party. It has been an honor to join. If you’d like to slip over after sleeping in your hammock… Moments Divine I’d love to see you!
Glad to be here again! Here is my post – http://mannm.blogspot.com/2014/07/mad-tea-party-and-where-bloggers-create.html
This is so beautiful and inspiring! I love all your things, the teacup arbor, (I must make one myself one day when I have room for a garden), your teaset, all the decorations, those castle bird cages that my bird Issy is so jealous of, and the adorable doggy!
Thanks for hosting this mad tea party! I have visited some really beautiful and inspiring posts so far! i haven’t had time to do it this year but I hope to participate next year!
<3
I could tarry all day and into the night in this magical world of fairyland! Certainly wish I had know about this party. Hopped over from Art and Sand. I have the most wonderful purple mad hatter hat that would be so fun for your mad tea party. Wondering how long the party stays up and if I would have time to do a post the first of the week? I love the teacup arbor and all of your little garden creatures. So much eye candy in each and every photo. Glitter just makes the world a happy place and I certainly found that here. . .fabulous!
hugs,
Jann

Vanessa:
Your party is fantabulous! I’m not even mad about sweets, but your table makes me want to gobble up cakes and goodies.
I wasn’t able to participate this year. 🙁 I feel so sad about that. But, I’m enjoying the party anyway.
Thank you for being such an inspiring hostess and thank you for doing this every year. It means so much to many people. Your hard work never goes unappreciated!

Not sure if I’ve posted this already, so I’m sorry if I have!
Ah Vanessa…..this post is wonderful. I love tea-parties…..especially if glitter is involved.
Years ago I had a Halloween tea-party whilst I was at university. I regret not taking photos for the future, but that was when blogging was just taking off. At the time, I didn’t know that blogging even existed.
Speaking of tea parties and treats, today I had traditional Welsh afternoon tea in an old ivy-covered cottage. It looks like it could be a witches’ house, especially when all the leaves turn red. I think you would approve. I took photos of it from the last trip we took there –
http://www.ceridwenscanvas.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/welsh-teatime.html
I’ve also been to a great tea-room in a medieval town called Tewkesbury. The cakes were homemade (and very good). Every single nook & cranny had been filled with antiques of kitsch memorabilia, mainly from around the 1940’s. It was just crazy décor – so busy but it worked. At the back the was wonderful small courtyard & garden. It was obvious that the owner had poured her heart & soul into the place. I will (eventually) upload photos of the place, maybe on Flickr or on a different blog.
Not many photos do it justice but there are a few here under ‘Traditional Tea Rooms’

Also, maybe you could have a Frida Khalo inspired tea-party? With your climate, it would surely work?
Ok…I’m starting to feel like the white rabbit! Running from blog to blog and checking the time. I’m tea party pooped and I’ve only just made it to “C”. My media junkie husband and daughter would be done by now. I just know it! AAARRRHHHGGGG!!!
