Wonderland is calling! The time has arrived for our 4th annual Mad Tea Party! Time to make your way through the looking glass…
Let's party like it's 1865!
How do you get here you ask?
You need a map?
Directions?
Let's ask the white rabbits…
Oh, silly us, of course, follow the sign to A Fanciful Twist Cottage!
A Fanciful Twist Cottage you ask?
Why, yes, oh yes!
Grand news indeed!
One of the many projects going on in Wonderland, is the location for our very mad, Mad Tea Party! A wee cottage for a girl (that's me) to hide out in, right in her very own garden.
Pinch me?
We sure did fall through the rabbit hole.
And, it's a good thing that I really do share a tiny world with a Mad Hatter, who makes such madness possible.
All I have to do is slip into my Wonderland shoes (handmade by my Mammie), and dream, and believe, and hope, and tumble……..
Fanciful, Arizona, here we come!!
Thank you so much for being here!
Having you as a guest is the bestest thing since Alice herself ;)
The Mad Hatter says it is time to go positively mad!
Are you feeling mad?
Crazy as can be?
Silly and giggly, and free?
Sparkle sparkle, all around!
Here we go, no time to waste, twirl down the path, won't you?
A cart of treats, to begin the feast of sweets!
One by one, two by two, three by three, we shuffle in….
The table is set, jump in, jump in!
Oops, I tripped on your extra long ruffled gown, sorry 😉
Bonk bonk, oops, parasols bonking each other too, haha!
Come in, come in, to my beloved play place…
So nice to get to host you!
I hope you feel cozy as can be…
Ooops, what was that?
Oh, no bother, just a bunch of us chickens 😉
Singing and dancing to the madman's tune…
The clock is ticking, telling us it is just about the perfect time…
To tiptoe to where we will nibble, and nosh, and chomp…
Chocolate cake, dancing with colors, moist and fluffy, and waiting for you.
Yumm yumm!
Would you care for one serving, or two?
Rose tea hits the spot…
It's magic you know 😉
Oh please do pour me a hot drop…
Oh and, other guests will be here too!
Like deer.
Since they like cake through and through…
Don't they?
And, what about frogs taking a dip in proper iced tea?
Did you say you wanted a mini confectionery?
Don't act so shy, I know you want to take a tour of sweet tastes…
There's a window of time, where nothing you nibble sticks to your waist!
Make sure you give me your enchanted key.
I can't let you test doors while you have ingested so much candy.
Goodness knows what you might get yourself into!
Oh and look, our children (of the furry variety), are getting fitted for their very own hats. Matty says, no way Jose! (I love him for his strong character. He knows exactly what he likes, and exactly what he does not like)
However, his little brother Miles, squeals with delight at the sight of such a thing. Seems he has been into the swimming pool and mud as well, cutie cutes!
Don't forget there is plenty to sip, not just tea, but punch and cherry cordial too!
Speaking of cherry, how about chocolate cherry mini cupcakes for your woes?
Do you have woes today?
Bloomers might be getting snug from all the treating 😉
I wonder what Alice would think?
Or better yet, what would Lewis Carroll think?
Are you having fun?
Has your sweet tooth gone numb?
Don't forget the key-lime pie!
Munch munch munch!
Sip sip sip!
Oh wait, can you hear that? I can hear more feet coming down the bend! Oh helooooo! It's you, and you, and YOU!! What fun!!
Just in time!
The sun is going down, and there is much dancing to do.
Did you hear? They're playing your tune!
Oooo, delightments under night skies, delicious!
Seems someone needs a nap before his long voyage ;)
Your visit has been beyond wonderful, beyond lovely, beyond grand!! May the rest of your 2011 be filled with all the magic and whimsy your heart desires!!!
Just as night turns to morning, the Mad Hatter rides off, singing,
Arrivederci!!!
Seeeee youuuuuuuu next yeeeeear!!!
Mwuuuuuah!
It was a wonderful time with you!!
Thank you so so so so so much for being here!!
And most importantly, for believing in Wonderland.
Let's make our way over to visit the most lovely and talented,
Our guest of honor for this year's Mad Tea Party! Won't you come with me??? It's beyond delicious at her place!
Love, V
* Please make sure (if you are hosting your own Mad Tea Party) to leave your exact party link in comments here. It will serve as an archive. Thank you!
* To visit Mad Tea Parties from previous years, click here.
* I will be giving away two 8" x 10" prints from my shop (your choice). Simply leave a mad comment to enter. I will draw 2 names in a week or so 😉
ps: A year ago today, on June 25th, 2010, we said good-bye to our most beloved beautiful furry girl, Baby. On June 15th, 2011 my dear friend Roo said good-bye to her love, her husband, Cowboy. There are no words to express everything I would like to say. So I will say this-
In everything good, in everything beautiful, and in everything warm and kind I think of Baby, I think of Cowboy, and I think of all those who are loved and missed. I dedicate this blog post to them, because I hope that they are somewhere beautiful, in their own Wonderland, laughing, pain free, and waving at us with full and happy hearts…🖤
Updates Below:
Saturday Afternoon Update: Just a reminder that the party usually lasts all weekend+, as it takes several days to make all the visits (yay, a reason to party longer!). Hooooray, what fun you all are!!! I can't say enough! This is so exciting and wonderful! (I am making my way around, and hope to see you soon, I am a wee bit zombified today -what with finishing the cottage building up to the last second- But I am ever so eager to visit your place soon) xoxo
Sunday Morning Update: Hi there! It is Sunday and I am still partying, working on my visits. Don't worry, the party isn't over yet! ;)
I wanted to share that there have been a handful of e-mails coming my way, with folks having issues leaving comments here. I am not blocking anyone. I don't know what the dilemma is. So sorry about that. Also, I am having my own issues posting on blogspot blogs. I just figure, it's part of the internet, and we have to work the best that we can with it.
Also, as you know, the partier list is in my left hand sidebar, and will stay there for a week. Lots of time for us to make visits. The actual party links will be in the comment section for an eternity, as an archive, in case you still want to peek in the future. Thanks so much!

http://collagediva.typepad.com/collagediva/2011/06/tea-party.html
So sorry to hear of the losses in your life. I lost my dearest Fen a beautiful companion in March. He was the bestest dog ever and lived with us for 10 years. He was with me in spirit as I worked in to the wee evening to get my post done.
I may need to nap a little after noshing on so many sweets and before I visit all of the other parties.
Cheers and have a blast today!
{soul hugs}
Kathryn, Collage Diva
You wonderful lady… I want to live in that adorable house, play with you and you doggies, eat you beautiful food and drink LOTS of tea…
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Thank you again for an amazing party!!

Happy party day Vanessa. I will be back later to visit properly as off out now! But Alice is playing at mine so she will be here soon! xx
Oh my, tripping on my extra long ruffled gown! Oh, and it did rip. Well, here, let’s finish the job. Oh, I do like this shorter length better. I do! And see here what I have now? A gorgeous ruffled sash for my hair.
And now for a look at your . . . at your . . . *klunk* Somehow in my state of faintedness I hear a far-away cry for smelling salts. Then I feel something touch my nose, and, why, it’s chocolate frosting, with sprinkles! But of course! Smelling salts are of the mad tea variety when you fall over in a euphoric faint at the mad tea party at the wonderful Miss V.’s!
The cottage! Oh, the cottaaaage!!!! OK, I am slapping myself silly to keep from being overcome once again by the most magical of lovely places. Oh, wiiiiilll we get a peek inside soooooon? Oh my, where are my manners, for I see that the tea party is set for outside today! My eyes DRINK IN all the loveliness. I giggle for a moment as I realize that my mouth is not the only thing doing the drinking.
I know that I shall come back to your party again and again as a lovely escape from the world’s cares in the days to come.
**************
What beautiful tributes to Baby and Cowboy, Vanessa. I have thought about Baby lately, knowing that this date was approaching. I’m sending you a big hug. As we are sitting sipping tea together, please do tell me some wonderful stories about your sweet girl. . . .
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Roo’s dear Cowboy. I well remember her post telling us that he was ill. I am sending her big hugs as well, along with a prayer for healing.
Ohhhh, I love your cottage! I wish I could turn my apartment into a cottage! It’s beautiful. thank you for letting me join your party and tell your momma that the shoes are way adorable! Hop over to my party if you have some time! I made peanut butter and banana tea sandwiches…not the traditional sammie but it IS a MAD tea party after all!

Wonderful Tea Party post. Always fun to visit. Thank you for your comment regarding Baby and Cowboy. Add a Dragon to that list. Mr. Dragon and Cowboy shared the same kind of cancer. All of them are in the stars, watching over us.
Much love to you my dear .. for adding fantasy and smiles to our lives.
Hugs …….
Thank you for such a delicious tea party together and for inviting my grand children and me! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing your lovely and unique tea set with the teapots and tea cups full of the magical rose tea! Not to mention the tastiest of tasty chocolate cakes. I do hope I didn’t take too many pieces!
Your polka dots were delightful, the chickens were adorable, your gown and parasol was gorgeous, and the Mad Hatter’s serenade was swooningly romantic. It’s so sweet to see you so happy together and sharing your joy with us! And didn’t Miles look dashing in his tall black party hat. I thought it was quite cute the way he worked so hard to create his own version of “black boots.”
I’m very glad I was able to stay till dark – your lights created a lovely “fairy-land experience!” Thank you for such a lovely lovely visit full of special memories of special friends. And thank you for sharing about Baby and Cowboy. They, and you, are in my prayers!
Have a lovely lovey tea party, and again, thank you for the invite. Now I’m off to have more tea with other guests, and looking forward to a wide variety of big and kids tea sets all over the bloggy wonderland. Ta!
Happy Tea Miss V!! What a wonderful party…had so much fun and hope you do come by and take a peek as well..Miss you and your beautiful photo’s of AZ!!

IS that a REAL little play cottage for you and Lovee?? Has that been your ‘project’, and the cutie coop? You have been BUUUSSSSYYYY as a bee! This was perfect, as usual. And Rosie’s cupcakes….oh, dear–I might just have a new obsession.
Come on over!

I hope you can come to my mad tea party, because it is also a retirement party for myself. It is on my blog http://wjcsdigitalworld.blogspot.com/ It isn’t nearly as magical as yours, because finally being able retire is so magical in itself. Yay! But it is indeed mad!

Fantastico!
especial!
encantador!
fabuloso Mundo da fantasia as suas fotos!
Vanessa, your post made me cry but in a good way. I had not read your post about Baby until just now. Your words expressed perfectly my own feelings about our furry angels both past and present. And I really do believe that they are angels. They are gifted to us for much too short a time and give us so much while they are here. Our Mr. Nibbles was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago now and I know better (now) and that every day he is here with us is truly a gift to be treasured.
Such a wonderful and fitting tribute to Baby, a Mad Tea Party. Thanks soooo much for sharing. It has left me smiling ear to ear.

Happy Mad Tea Party ;o) I am glad nothing sticks to my waist, because I nibbled a lot ;o) I had a beautiful time, at your magical party! Thanks so much for inviting me ;o) I hope you have a wonderful day ;o)
I am completely enchanted. It’s nice to know there are people in the world like you.
lovely as always, my dear! thanks for the tea and goodies!

What can I say…Once again you’ve conjured up a Wonderland to rival Lewis Carroll himself! Absolutely enchanting! From your adorable cottage to the yummy sweets…the handsome Mad Hatter, the precious fur babies…You’ve outdone yourself!
And I’m teary-eyed at the beauty with which you describe Baby and Cowboy’s (and all those who’ve made that journey) very own, pain free Wonderland. I know what a bittersweet day this must be for you and your Mr Lovee, and I can only imagine what Roo must be going through. Bless you for such a thoughtful end to such a beautiful post.
My own post is here…

Just delightful and I shall like another cup Miss V. and Mr. Hatter!
You brought me a large Cheshire grin and a bit of sweet sorrow. Life is good and we must enjoy the cards we are given. I love all your fanciful ways. Thank you for sharing your gifts Vanessa and all of you in bloggy land. Now I must go for I see a white rabbit in my yard and he looks quit serious tapping his foot and pointing to his rather large clock. Tic Toc Cheerio! <3 Ur Life, Kelly

Oh Miss V, you never disappoint! Your tea party was as magically mad and wonderful as always!! I especially loved the key lime pie, yum! And such a loverly new cottage. Perfect for Fanciful Arizona. *Le Sigh* What an extraordinary enchanting moment you gave me. So beautiful for you to share your wonderful and not so mad world=) Thank you, smiles.
Why, yes, please; cherry cordial and a slice of that key lime pie whilst I gaze around Chez Twist. My, what you’ve done to the place…and in an instant, too. That Hatter is a wonderful helper, true, if he is kept on a diet of tea and sweets. Else he can get a bit, well, mad. Tomorrow, you shall have to drop in for tea with me. http://www.seahorseranch.blogspot.com
What a simply gorgeous party, in the perfect little cottage!! Thank you so much for inviting me to this wondrous and colorful world!! And what a lovely dedication 🙂 ~Lauren

http://childofdanu.blogspot.com/2011/06/running-behind.html
Your Parties are always so enchanting and magical… thanks once again for inviting us along to experience the wonder… now I’m hungry for tiny cakes & Moroccan Mint Tea… *winks*
to be completely honest, i kept hitting refresh last night until you posted (it was 3am here!) …and then i read the tribute and i got all choked up and figured i might as well finish watching “Ghost” with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze and cry alot, for everyone who has lost someone, and wondered if they were still there….so i cried and watched and fell asleep…and then got up, and felt a sense of peace. you know, i do believe that there’s a wonderland where Baby and Cowboy are, and everyone whose lost someone, where they are safe from hurt and pain, where bunny clouds are the norm and lizards and frogs pour tea. ..you made me feel better. thank you.
i love you veevala. xoxoxviiioxox Roo
PS please rely my thanks to everyone for all the love hugs and prayers. i feel lucky and blessed~~~

My Dearest Dear Miss Vanessa,
As usual, you have outdone yourself. Everything is so much fun and I am quite dizzy from having had so many sweet treats! That’s OK, I’ll just sit down for a moment and watch the pretty colors spin around me!! I am so excited that you gave the link to the Wikipedia page on Our Dear Alice as there is a picture of the film that was made in 1903 and that is the movie I am showing at my Mad Tea Party today!! I just love your tiny house and as is usual for me, love it even more at night!
Thank you for all the love you so graciously hand out like so many tea party treats. I’ll be certain to visit those who are in need of a bit of extra support right now.
Hugs to you and your family (especially the Extra-Good Sport Mr. Lovey!),
Betty
oh, vanessa, this year’s party is absolutely spectacular! incredibly beautiful and beyond sweet… this always happens at the busiest time of the year for me, but one day i’m going to throw a mad tea party with you (and my kids because i’m sure they would love it. i have told you before, i so wish we were neighbours!) the cottage is stunning and so perfect. i can’t wait to see the inside ;).

Oh! My! Gosh! Vanessa!
The cottage looks glorious! A wish come true for you! Thank you again for putting on such a sweet Mad Tea Party…the cakes, the cookies, the sweets, the decorations are all so very special! I am so happy for you!
I had not heard that Roo’s Cowboy man had passed away…yes, he is in a better place, a sweet place far away from pain. Tears are in my eyes for Roo and her family.
Have a lovely tea-party-kind-of-day!
fairy kisses to you all at Lovee Dovee Cottage!
Miss Teresa
Oh, that furry baby with the hat just slays me! He is having the most fun of all (and no doubt snitching licks of some frosting!). All is so magical and perfectly Vanessa. The Mad Hatter is in fine form. And that cake with the ruffled tutu frosting is divine. You sure know how to throw a party, Miss V! Enjoy the day!

my dear, i have been so sad and fearful lately. i think perhaps all i needed was a spot of tea and a place to rest and sip, sip, sip. what magic, what wonder you have unraveled for us today! quiet joy blooms in my heart with every treat, every photo, every fantastic and fanciful word. even the tiniest freckle of glitter sticking to my skin feels like a secret i get to keep and bury inside me as a seed.
thank you for bringing me closer to myself, with this post and every other. next party, i vow to join in properly!
and now i’m off, up and away! to the many other wonders in this mad, mad, deliciously mad land!

Hi Vanessa,
I’m so sorry for Roo losing Cowboy, and I remember how sad it was losing Baby. Was it a year already???
I’m also sorry I didn’t make it in time to join in the festivities this year! I only realised last night that it was today, and I have nothing prepared – I was selling at a market all day today, I’m so sorry darling!
But what a beautiful party you have put on for all of us to enjoy~ Thank you for the endless beauty and inspiration you give.
Much love, Natasha oxoxxo

Thank you for hosting a lovely Mad Tea or the 4th time. We (the grands and I) had a perfectly fabulous time preparing, doing and showing. I am so glad that you liked our “presentment”. We will join you again next year and also invite you to come and play with us as we “Celebrate Oz” for the second year in March. Oma Linda, Gerea Kaye and RyLeigh

I wasn’t able to participate in the Tea Party this year, I had unbreakable plans. But, I’m following the trail to all the tea parties and I’m having a lovely and magical time.
Thank you for all you do. Not only do you share a bit of yourself with this blogging community, you open doors for other’s to meet each other as well.
I’m off to some more tea parties!
Love Always:

Thank you so much Vanessa, for being such a superb hostess, and to everyone else for all of their hard work putting posts together. I enjoyed them all. I posted comments on most, but I had problems with a few.
Erin 🙂
Dear Miss Vanessa,
Thank you so, so, so much for your visit to The Tearoom! It always makes me so happy to see that you have been there! I have been hearing from several people that they have had problems leaving comments on Blogger this weekend too. But I just came back to make sure that I had put the URL of my post in my comment and very sadly saw that my comment didn’t take!!! So….I will let you know again how much I loved your party! I love your little house so much (it makes me think of one that was built for me when I was 10 or 12) and of course, I loved the pictures at night the best. Biggest hugs to you and to Mr. Mad Hatter, kisses to your fur babies including your Dear Baby, prayers and thoughts for Roo and love to your guest of honor!
Thank you once again for a fabulously beautiful party weekend (and beyond)!
Betty

Hey girlie,
Your parties are always the bestest ones 😉 I always seem to arrive early and stay late– what can I say, I know a good thing when I see it! Congrats on another successful party! *woot-woot* You go girl!!!
What a lovely little cottage and a great tea party. I am so glad I dropped by! What a kind post at the end remembering Baby and Cowboy-so good to keep the animals and people we love in our thoughts and memories.
Thanks for the magic
Kristy
As usual your party was lovely! My favorite was Miles in all his muddiness giving his big puppy grin while wearing such a dapper hat. Thanks for sharing so much of your magic. I’m enjoying strolling through the other parties. Hope I win your art! <3

I’ve had such a wonderful time visiting everyone’s tea parties! I have “met” so many new friends and found blogs and art and talent where I never would have even thought to look if not for you, Vanessa! Thank you for bringing us all together! 🙂
What a Mad, Mad, Fantabulous Party.
I fear that I am now in a bit of a sugar dream…..sliding down the sugary slopes..
But wake, I must, and back to the tedious
necessity of work.
Thank you, thank you, for such a lovely time. You are truly a gracious hostess.
I wouldn’t miss this party for all the tea in China! I always have a magical time and want to stay and play for days! Happy hugs coming your way my friend! 🖤 You are beautiful! 🖤
This is your best party post yet Vanessa~I’m love the new cottage. I think this is the first I’ve seen of the outside and it looks so charming~the place I’d love to drop in for a nice cool lemonade or Ice Tea on a hot day:)The pastries look quite tasty and those shoes are really beautiful! Mr. L looks dapper in his get up and your dogs are so sweet.Enjoying life and your loved ones are what makes any party joyful..
How fun! I hadn’t visited for awhile and you always throw such a good party!
I came back for a second look. I was sure I missed a few things – and I did! I always read yours several times Miss Vanessa. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Makes me feel like skipping. Mr. Lovey Mad Hatter’s appearance was delightful as always, too. Cheers, Kathy

Hi!! I know your blog today, its very creative. I like so much….
I go on around here a litle bit more ;D
Kisses from Madrid🖤 🖤
Wow! This is like something straight out of my dreams! So beautiful and whimsical.
Love the teaparty pictures. Hopefully one day i’ll have enough whimsy to participate and have my own little teaparty at home!
Vanessa, i think you need to make it MANDATORY for NO WORD VERIFICATION for next year, it slows everyone down so much, especially the sneaky kind that isn’t there until you post, and I can not tell you how many times I was on the edge of leaving the badge before it caught my eye. It is EXTREMELY time consuming, and ANNOYING and FRUSTRATING. Most blog hops i join it is made mandatory.
Other than hitting participants links through my comments, or through other links in other comments. I am just now beginning the “N’s”. I KNOW I would be farther along if it weren’t for this inconsiderate annoyance.
thanks for letting me share!
Susan
