Mad Planning…

The Mad Tea Party is days away isn't it?

Must get the magic into focus…

Mad planning 11

I have not an idea what I shall do.

But I will whip something up, per my usual insane ways of doing things.

Well, I have a tiny bit of an idea, but do you think I have started yet?

Why, of course not 🙂

I peek around my studio, looking for bits and bobs of this and that.

Mad planning 7

A dash of inspiration, a hint of surprise…

Around the studio I go, snooping to and fro.

Mad planning 12

Hmmmmmm.

What do I see, what do I seeeee?

Anything calling me?

Mad planning 13

Oh yes yes.

Mad planning 8

I lose my way, so easily.

So easily you see.

But it's tea.

Tea it's all about.

Oh my, oh me.

Mad planning 1

Hoot hooooot!

Mad planning 9

The thing is, it's been madness of its own kind around here.

Winds like you can't believe.

Uprooting my giant dahlia, cosmos and other things.

(I know, sobs)

Peach tree branches ever so full hit the ground.

No rain, but scary wind.

Live wires sparking in the back of the property at 3 a.m.

Winds whipping like scary scary.

Us up all night making sure our house does not burn down.

Sparks like Disneyland fairy magic fly up into the sky off those electrical wires, I tell ya.

If only it was good and not live wires whipping about.

But all is calm now.

We shall see what this afternoon brings.

As monsoons, in their season, visit every late afternoon.

Bringing thick clouds and scary winds at the end of the day.

And maybe, just maybe, some rain if you are lucky.

For now I snoop around my studio…

Mad planning 10

Plotting.

Planning.

I still haven't even had a chance to tidy up the place, if you can believe it.

And, I chopped up that Rouge Vif D' Etampes Pumpkin.

Oh, it was so crazy tender, you could have eaten it raw.

(I did a bit)

I saved some raw pieces actually.

Then I made some pumpkin, chick pea, mint, basmati rice curry.

Oh it was goooood.

And now, now…

The scent wafting about is…

Cloves, cinnamon, butter, brown sugar and pumpkin.

Mister Lovee says it's beyond delicious.

What a scent…

That scent.

Mad planning 14

I think it needs to be poured over vanilla ice cream personally.

Anywhooooooo.

Must watch that clock…

Mad planning 5

I never knew how easily distracted and downright rotten I was.

I knew a little, but this is just ridiculous.

Honestly.

Mad planning 4

I need a manager.

A boss.

Someone to set me straight.

Mad planning 3

Well, maybe not 😉

Mad planning 2

For now…

I think and dream and wonder…

What ever shall I conjure up?

Who knows.

Do you?

I need to crawl up in the cottage loft…

Tea and lunch, plus a good book in hand.

Listening to this…

That should begin to do the trick.

Me thinks.

😉

Happy safest 4th of July!!

We are staying home, grilling, doing some needed chores.

And perhaps watching fireworks from the roof.

I love staying home on crazy days like the 4th.

Any nifty plans in your neck of the woods?

Okay, off I go for now.

I have made myself seriously dizzy with all my chatter 😉

Love, V

Sparkly heart

  3. laura says:

poor dahlias! i was just out in my garden and i have two big beautiful blooms and finally the sunflowers are starting to bloom, just when i’ll be gone for several days. my pumpkin patch is thriving in the rain as are the weeds, but i’ll get to them.

  4. I’ll trade you some of the insane rain we’ve had for a little of your wind, ok – deal? We’re going on a full week and more scheduled and honestly, I’m ready to turn in my shoes for galoshes and a boat, lol. SICK OF IT! Rain rain go away – bring us some sunshine. ‘;^P
Regarding the tea party, I’ve been so SUPER-DUPER excited about it since you announced it! No joke. In fact, I had a “Wonderland After Dark” cocktail party to celebrate the arrival of the upcoming blog hop, and then my friend was inspired and he made a SOUNDTRACK for the day! Of course, I’ll still have something new to share on the tea-party day, but I must say, you’ve got us in your magical grip, Miss Vanessa!

  5. Betty says:

Dear Vanessa, I wish I could send you some of our rain! We’ve had some everyday for at least a week and yesterday, it only got into the 60’s during the day! Today is much more summer-like, but what a crazy year, huh? I hope that Arizona wind subsides soon.
As for The Mad Tea Party, I’m not worried about your party! Yours are always so magical! And can you believe it, for once, I’m not doing mine at the last minute like usual! I have one more digital collage to finish, and I am DONE! I’m super excited and can’t wait for the 13th!
    Sending you hugs of inspiration!

  8. Hi Miss Denise….
I know, staying home is the place to be today for me.
I am making shish kabobs – and we have brown sugar and spiced pumpkin for
    our ice cream…
And mostly, I am working in the studio – staying safe and cool.
4th of July is too wild and scary out in the world for me.
People go bonkers with their fun, haha!
Sparklies – well, I made them myself with a photo editing program, and I
just pop themhere and there in myphotos every now and then.
    That the secret 😉

  10. Renee says:

That scent of pumpkin, spice and brown sugar is wonderful.
We have squash and zucchini. the other day I wanted to make zucchini bread so used a basic recipe but added orange juice to the grated zucchini, the zest of an orange, a bit of orange extract and dried cranberries. It was the best zucchini bread ever 🙂 It smelled wonderful baking.
We had a mostly at home day (I had to go pick up grand #1, babysat for grand #2 last night) Livvie is going to VA with us tomorrow for a family reunion. Her cousins first question to me is Where is Olivia. We’ve had monsoon rains here. I’m hoping for at least one day of sunshine in VA.

  11. Miss Linda says:

Oh Miss Vanessa, I love the music from this version of Pater Pan, as well as this story. I thought it was very well done. Did you ever seen Neverland?
All of your looking, planning, photographing and just plain looking around will be worth it all. Your Mad Hatter Party will be super fantastic. You have a wondrous eye for everything. Remember, I will be on the outside looking in at all of the happening.
    Thank you.

  12. Alia says:

Those winds were crazy! I was stuck in the very middle of that big first storm on my way home from work and it was so scary I pulled over. The wind was blowing so hard it was making my car shake, yikes!
I hope you had a good 4th of July! I also just stayed home all day and cooked, it was delightful. I made real pulled pork (as in cooking a pork shoulder until it fell off the bone) for the first time ever! It was fun and quite tasty, although now we have mountains of left over pulled pork since it was just the two of us for dinner. Pictures of it on my blog soon!
Ooh, and there were also Dr. Pepper floats, yum!

Just one more week!!!! I am absolutely Mad about it!!!!
    Much Love,

  14. Theresa says:

Happy Belated 4th to you! We do the same as you – stay at home from all the craziness. We grilled our dinner, and I made a pasta salad, some deviled eggs for the hubby, and a black raspberry pie. We grilled out today, too. It has been oppressively hot and humid here, and the humidity has made me a bit ill, I’m afraid. But I am so looking forward to the Mad Tea Party! I have some giveaways ready, but not my actual post! hee hee hee Must get the brain in working order!!!!! 🙂 Happy planning…

  15. Maria says:

    MAGICAL!!!!!!!! 😀

  16. It’s yet another year of weather extremes it seems! We’ve had well over 20″s of rain since the beginning of May through last week and now that the faucet has turned off, the oven door has opened and we’re into another heat wave! 4th of July’s at home are the best 🙂 Being able to view fireworks from right outside ones home is even better 🙂 PS: I’m spreading the word-my blog Diggin’ Around will soon be completely known at The Portable Homestead 🙂 PS again: A Fanciful Twist is truly one of my favorite things! Hugs & love to you dear Vanessa!

  17. Patty says:

Read “The Witch of Little Italt” by Suzanne Palmeri. Awesome and magical!

  18. Patty says:

OOPS That was “The witch of Little Italy”

  19. Patty, ooo, the Amore clan, it got me wanting more looking it
