February 13, 2009

It looks like it’s about that time…

Time for lllllllooooove.  Or, any excuse to pair up red and pink forever.

Be mine 1

It is a lovely happy day.  I have finished all my projects that had to be sent out…  And, this afternoon is play day!!

Be mine 2

My girls only boudoir at the country house, is spreading Valentine cheer big time.

Be mine 3

But, Oy!  My aching head.  3 hours ago I was bouncing off clouds…  I was bopping around dancing and serenading Mr. Lovee.  But now, not so much ;)  Good thing he left for the office…  Now I am kind of sinking in the sugar sea, or something like that…  The sea of, I went to Walgreens and ate to much sugar.

Be mine 15

No no, I didn't rip bags open and sit in an aisle chewing and gulping as fast as I could, before I was identified, and escorted out…  Goodness no…

Be mine 14

But once, when I was around 8, I was terribly grounded (grounded isn't even the word) for filling my pockets with tiny heart marshmallows in the grocery store.  My mom caught me, and almost decapitated me (not really).  She then made me go to the store manager and tell him I was stealing marshmallows.

"Umm, sir, excuse me, I was stealing marshmallows.  But umm, I wanted to give them back to you…"

I couldn't even finish the "I'm sorry" part of the sentence, at the end, without tears…

I was so humiliated.

Seriously, try saying that out loud.  "I was s-t-e-a-l-i-n-g  marshmallows."

I mean, who does that?

Steals Marshmallows?

Seems, me…

It took me until like, today, to forgive myself for stealing teeny tiny heart marshmallows, hee hee 😉

Be mine 13

The thing is.  It was like this.  The bag was already open.  And the marshmallows were pouring out.  So I decided to save them.  But my Mombie thought I opened the bag.  So, you see.  That was that…

Anyhow, this post isn't supposed to be therapy for me 😉

I am here to say…

Have an awesome V-day!!

Treat yourself to an exquisite piece of jewelry… (Walgreens, 39 cents each)

Be mine 4

And, if you find yourself, crazy in love.

Be mine 7

Or not so crazy in love…

Be mine 5

Remember, either way, you got the love ;)

Be mine 9

Yep, I can be cheesy as cheesy gets…  I like cheesy.  Cheesy is fun.  Cheesy doesn't care what anyone thinks.  Cheesy is free to be 100% authentic.

Now don't forget.

Valentine's day, is your day.  But better than that…

Be mine 6

So is every day, before and after February 14th.  So, you see…  The magic never ends ;)  Sometimes it gets a little lost.  But I promise, there is always an emergency batch under that funny little rock outside your front door.

No joke 😉

Now, I need to wrap a new fresh box of Whoppers for Mister WHopper Head…

Be mine 8

I should make him say, I steal Whoppers 157 times… 😉

Although, like he says, "Dove, you had one heck of a Valentine season…"  He gave me so many little gifts this month – but he always does that.  A rusted bottle cap here, a random little thing there…

(Yes, he calls me dove)

At least he lives up to his name.  Mister Lovee.  My friend and I, we both laugh – because, what if he was a Mister Stinky?  tee heeee….

Oh, and the news of the day.

Mister Lovee gave me a ring.

Yep.  It's a Whopper

I saw him taking something out of his sport-coat pocket last night.  When he saw me coming, he flung it into the sink in his bathroom.

I pretended I was clueless.

You see, he had to wash it before he could place it on my finger.

Why, you ask?

Well, it was on top of a free cupcake 😉 and covered in frosting.

Mister STINKER!!!

(I know – I was thinking the same thing, did he carry it in his pocket full of frosting all day?)

Be mine 10

I love it.

That is all that counts.

Now, before I go, we have chosen to spontaneously perform a special song for you for V-day…  We have been known to humiliate ourselves often, with our duets at people's houses (who have pianos).  Sometimes we both play.. In this case, I am the singer….

Aaaaahem….

Be mine 17

Be mine 16

What song was it?  Check below ;)  Haha!!

There you have it, not so Valentiney I guess… hahaha!

Off to watch movies in the girls only boudoir!!!  See you there 😉 😉

Be mine 18

I have to choose a recipe for tomorrow night from that fab list.  You girlies saved me!!!  You are the most amazing bunch of pals a girl could ever ask for!!  I think I might try them all (not all at once)… But whoevers I make tomorrow, gets a box of flowering tea.  As Promised 🙂

See you super soooooon!!  Happy Happpppy Valentine's Day, from me to you!!

🖤xoxo, V

ps:  Were you grounded or guilty for life for stealing something when you were a kid?  Come on, tell me…. 😉 😉

pss:  A very very special thank you, to the two people who actually do pluck the stars out of the sky for me (Mom and Dad).  Oodles of love to Mammie, who is the most specialist Valentine ever!!! Thank you two for driving up to leave flowers and balloons on my doorstep!! xoxoxoxo

  1. thanks for bringing a smile to my face today! Your little ladie with the wonderful wings is beautiful!!!

  2. Yes – I did the EXACT same thing when I was about 4, except it was a bag of already opened balloons. The bag was open, so I thought it wasn’t really stealing…but I knew I was doing something wrong because I still hid them inside my shirt. And I vividly remember my mother’s reaction and have never stolen anything since. Thanks for making me remember this fond moment in my life. Happy V Day.

  3. Miss Vanessa – you sweetheart you!!! I love your posts. They cheer me up even if I’m already cheery! I remember stealing one piece of candy from the Brach’s assorted candy stand. It was one of those white ones with the different colored dots in it? Not sure what they’re called. I felt horrible. Some lady looked at me with that “you know you’re not being honest” look. And I found out I could reach my hand inside the bouncy ball vending machine and pull some springs back and steal the little bouncy balls!!!! I can’t believe I’m admitting to any of this. I’m such and honest person now!
On a side note – I’d love to have your address to send you something. I’ve found the most beautiful patches of moss. It would truly make you swoon! I think of you every time I walk by it!
    Happy Loving Valentine’s Day!!!!
    Tauna

  4. Erin says:

I Love your angel lady. She is so pretty! What a lovely ring and Valentine post. I have one too.
I stole gum and then a little later…cigarettes…OUT OF A MACHINE. I am so ashamed. I just recently made my son go into the principal for “stealing” a package of chips that he got free from the machine. It wasn’t such a big thing since he didn’t do anything to make them come out, but it is the principle of the thing.
    Erin 🙂

  5. Janel says:

Yes, I did too. I was in first grade and stold some candy sprinkles, the kind for cookies. First I asked my mother if she would buy for me. No, she said. So, I put them in my pocket. A few days later my sister ratted me out because I wouldn’t share. So when my dad came home from work, both my sister and I got spanked. My sister because she ate them with me. Then, in our pajamas, my father took us both back to the store where we were given a VERY stern talking too, from the store manager. We were both humiliated, terrified and just plain heartbroken. I will never forget it!

  6. elizabeth says:

As a little girl, I once accidently walked out of a store without paying for an item…but, I immediately returned to tell them and pay for it. I never could have lived with that guilt.
Let me see, I once accidently drove away from a fast food drive through window without paying…but only because the attendant also forgot that he hadn’t gotten any money and told me to “have a nice day,” as he shut the window. When I got half way home and had eaten most of my french fries I realized it, but I never drove back…I still feel very guilty about it…sigh.
Once, when my husband was little…he cut down a bunch of corn in a farmers field and his Dad made him go tell the farmer… and give him his piggy bank of money to pay for it.

  7. I think I was too SCARED to steal anything! My mother could pinch a plug out of me…for looking around in church! lol I love your post today…I wish you were my next door neighbor! heehee! And now I want one of those bracelets! I wonder if there are any left!

  8. Shell says:

I got caught stealing apples from my local store when I was a kid. My mom never found out, thankfully. Yes, so I’m the Apple thief and your the Marsh mellow Thief. Sounds like a bad 80’s song.
It’s hilarious you both sang I will Survive. I love the ring. It’s sparkly!! You have a wonderful and romantic Valentine’s Day.

  9. Jamie says:

Oh your Mombie left you flowers and balloons, how sweet is that 🙂 And Mr. Lovee must really love you to be giving you gifts all month and that beautiful ring 😉 My husband still swears my diamond really came from a gum-ball machine, hehe. Happy V-day to you…enjoy those girly movies!
    Jamie 🙂

  10. Chrisy says:

Urs posts as soooo entertaining…thank u…am off now to look for some magic supposedly hidden in a little rock outside the door….

  11. kayellen says:

Happy Valentines Day sweet Vanessa 😉
    Such a pretty post!
I have been helping a friend at his flower shop designing floral arrangements ALL week…a lot of fun but my fingers hurt! lol
Off for some tortilla soup..just had to stop by and say hi!!!
    xoxo

  12. Kris says:

Happy Valentine’s Day to the Sweetest!! And yes I did take a piece of bubblegum off of a counter in a store that my dad and mom shopped at…it was a little mom and pop grocery store and gosh, they were so kind to us, always sending a large bag of penny candy for all nine of us to split. We always looked forward to it. I took (l) and I mean (l) piece of bubble gum when no one was looking. My parents didn’t make me take it back (because I had already chewed and spit it out) but I felt so guilty that the next time I went to the store with my dad I laid a penny (because that’s what it cost back in the day)on the counter without anyone seeing me. I just knew I was going to go to HELL. I could not live with that thought as a child(or even as an adult)HA.
    Kris

  13. oh it is all so beautiful. I love when you stop on by my blog 😉 thanks ! Have a wonderful V Day!
    Xoxo Emily

  14. i cant sew says:

dont mind me while i polish my halo…. 🙂 i had to tell you that the photo of your ‘ring’ was a bit freaky in the sense that while i was staring at it it seemed to move!! perhaps just the lighting of the photo but i remember as a child being freaked out at the statues in the church which would move the longer i stared at them
    *_*
    big sticky smooches mmwwaaahh rosey

  15. Cori. G says:

Too Funny! I got caught stealing one of those cute little hangers you hang socks on from the men’s department at Sear’s. When I needed to use the little girls room and couldn’t get the button undone on my pants I was found out…oops! Well, there it was, in plain daylight, a men’s sock hanger embedded in my belly button. My mom took me to the store manager and I had to GIVE IT BACK. Talk about humiliation! At least you stole something wonderful and delightful. Me, I steal sock hangers, at least I did that day. Needless to say I never lifted anything from a store again. Now when I see men’s sock hangers I RUN!!
Vanessa, I’m looking at your darling boudoir picture…is the fire place surround your headboard? How lovely! Oh, and by he way, your ring looks divine with your flannel jammies!
    Happy Valentine’s Day!
    xo Cori

  16. Christy says:

    Happy valentine vanessa!

  17. Kathy says:

Ah….those lost memories…was it pennies I stole, or was it my sister??? anyway, the terror, humiliation, and the looks from parents can forever scar us innocent babes….
and your ring is sinfully lovely!!
I do so enjoy your flights of fancy….

  18. Laura says:

Love your ring. It reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffanys when she gets the ring from the Cracker Jacks box. My hubby brought home a box of Cracker Jacks this week. We got all excited to see the prize inside. It was a lame paper cut out shark whose mouth opened when you moved the paper. Really lame. A ring would have been so much better! I was a good girl and never stole marshmallows! Happy Valentine’s Day!

  19. tattingchic says:

OH, what a cute and whimsical post! I’m in the mood for lllllllllllooooooove! LOL!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Mr Lovee!!! 🙂

  20. Sorry to write again, but is that “Moonlight Sonata” music I see in the post? Just curious! I play piano too (but sadly do not have one right now)!
    hugs, kisses and musical notes!

  21. shannon says:

cheese is necessary. in all it’s forms. 🙂
the wee lad and i made valentines for all the various members of the household, and he was so involved in this simple act of passing along a little sweetness, that i was sort of overcome. as in, every day should be like this…creating and appreciating beauty, sharing it with the world, giving freely of our loving hearts. (and candy hearts. hee!)

  22. oh -sweet girl -happy valentines day to you-ive just opened a pk of raspberry shortcake…biscuits-can i pass you some.

  23. Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
I’m spending mine at home, in my studio, doing things I love and hanging out in blogland – very happily so, I might add.
And working working (still doing things I love) since my business starts TUESDAY! YAY!
    And eating chocolate! Yay!

  24. Paris Parfait says:

Oh, how I love your cheesy, breezy Valentine’s attitude and those 39 cent bracelets and the frosting-less ring. And how amazing that your parents would leave you special Valentine’s treats! Of course you deserve all that and more. Love to you, on Valentine’s Day and every day! xoxox

  25. redrhiannon says:

how great you must feel to have an afternoon to play! your girls only boudoir is gorgeously girly and i’m slightly envious 🙂 i’m seriously intrigued by the candlesticks with hands holding the garland. I love your ring and your bracelets. every girl needs her bling!
my story of theft? yep, i have one. I stole a chunky bar. a friend and myself. I was not a young child. just a middle schooler trying to be “cool”. we stole the candybar. I had a purse and she put the candy bar in it. we got caught. they called MY dad. he came from work to the store and paid for the candy. i got the lecture from the store manager and as we left the store my dad made me eat the candy bar and it made me hurl!! right there in the parking lot in front of everyone. OH and my friend didn’t have to call anyone or get in any trouble. her mom wasn’t home! didn’t seem fair then and now I feel all indignant again LOL
    have a delirious valentine’s day!!

  26. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY VANESSA!!!

  32. Cait says:

I love this Valentiney post! The part about being cheesy made me laugh. Today I was at a call back audition for the musical Annie, and they were saying “If Annie is anything; it’s cheese!” That was funny. And oh, I’m being considered for my favourite role! It’s so exciting! Waiting makes me all jittery.
    Happy Valentine’s day!

  33. cathy says:

Great post!! I enjoyed my visit by your fun blog!
    🙂
    Cathy

  34. Shannon says:

Happy Valentine’s Day Sweetie Miss V! I love all the red and pink!!! And I really love that piano…mom and I collect those little pianos…they are so fun, aren’t they? And little Aspen loves all your marshmellow hearts…they are her favorite! xo Shannon

  35. Lynn says:

    Another lovely post my dear!
I stole a pack of gum with fake tattoos in it by accident when I was around 9 or 10…I stuck it in my purse with intent to purchase..but forgot…really!
My husband though snuck into a trailer when he was around 8 or 9 and stole a bottle of asprin…why the heck would he do that? I don’t know. He got caught and ARRESTED! What a silly boy.

  36. I think you have opened the floodgates to all the delinquent 6 year olds out there who thought all candy was there’s for the taking! LOL
When I was around that wee age, I went to use the bathroom in the “big” kid side of the school. There I found graffitti on the wall of the stall…and I thought that if the big kids (like 4-5-6th graders) did it, it must be cool. So I doodled something and then wrote my name “ERIN” on the wall. Well, being the only ERIN in the school at the time found me out! I remember my parents being very stern and having to clean the stall. Now I know that I won’t be doing graffitti any more….and especially NOT autographing my work!
Sweet candy dreams to you and Mister Lovee.
I didn’t get dancing around or candy jewels, but a lovely dozen red roses on my bedside table. But I would have been satisfied with much much less.
    Love you lots, Miss V!
You make the world a much nicer place to be.
    Enjoy the day!
    Erin

  37. Holly says:

So lovely! I love, love, love your posts. I adore candy bracelets; gave them to all the girls I work with for Valentine’s Day. You should try the “Angel Chicken” recipe. I have to say that I shamelessly stole the recipe and made it for B last night. He loved it! Although I may have gone a bit overboard with the wine :-).

  38. Chris says:

how do you always make things so happy!!!?!?!
I’m such a snarky girl, but I smile and smile when I visit here!
    xo
