The days are here.
Garden bath days that is.
I am right in the midst of those very hot days that beckon you into the garden bath…
It's decadent.
And awesome.
And, if you ever get a chance to bathe in a private garden bath, do it.
You won't regret it.
If you can't be a real princess, you can at least pretend, right?
Surround yourself with pretty things…
Out in nature.
Little treasures add just that kick to the whole experience.
You know what I mean?
Beautiful crazy hot days in the gypsy garden…
I missed them so.
I spent years and years hating the heat.
But this extra cold winter taught me something.
I am a desert lizard.
Off with the shoes Mombie made me…
And in to that cozy little place.
I am telling you right now.
You have to try it.
It's sooooo good.
Throw in a few rose petals for good measure.
And in you go.
Tanned filthy veggie garden digging feet and all.
The warm sun and trees canopy.
Wonderful.
A dressing room under the trees…
A little rose water I made last year…
And a few jewels.
Of course, you need jewels under the trees.
After your garden bath.
Who doesn't?
😉
I am a happy camper.
I sneak back into this place for a few minutes almost every day.
Summer is here.
It is.
Happy Weekend!!
Tomorrow is Mister Lovee's birthday.
I organized the instrument room for him as a gift.
And, I need to make a cake.
Any ideas?
He loves carrot cake.
But is open to almost any dessert.
Any thoughts?
I've got my Khaled cd on…
A fave for 15-17 years.
(17 years?? What. Where did the time go? Hello?)
The whole Sahra cd is excellent by the way, I haven't tired of it all these years later. In fact, in about 1996 I fell in love with the song titled Sahra, like the album, and played it on repeat for years. I think I drove everyone around me mad ;)
Note to self, still playing.
Detni Essekra, Aicha and Mektoubi are also major faves on the album.
Anyhow…
It's time to have a nice evening in the warm desert.
See you extra soon!
Love, V
ps: You may have noticed I am trying to tidy up my blog sidebars a little.
I guess it was about time, no?
I wanted something fresh and different, so I decided to scan my handwriting for the links in my left hand sidebar. That way it's easier to find things. Is change good? I dunno. Change majorly freaks me out 😉
But, I am getting a little better with it as I get older.

I so want a garden bath like that! I might have a spot for it, maybe…i’ll have to add that to the projects list for another year. cake? my grandmother always made a “pig pickin’ cake”. I think it’s a southern thing. But it is soooo yummy, with mandarin oranges and pineapple. yummmy! if you want the recipe let me know.
happy birthday wishes to Mr. Lovee! i hope you both have a wonderfully magical day!
love & blessings

Water and outside… always a good combo. Are the baths cold? My pug will not allow me to bathe without her, you know. Cheers, m
Mario
looks soooo great, sunny relaxing. im sooooo sorry again that i must live in a town. want to go back on a country! would love so much to do this too. have a great weekend and so many thanks for sharing your great pictures! love your blog so much! ;0)
That picture with your feet is great! It all looks so lovely.
Oh Miss Vanessa, What a happy peaceful post, so clam and collected. Happy Birthday Mr. Lovee and many more.
OMGosh, those are MY feet, little flip flop marks and all. Only difference is I have Vixen polish ( dark wine red color ) on my nails…Oh yeah, I’m a Vixen 😉
Happy, happy Gemini B-day to you Mr. Lovee! My Moms is the 17th, she’s so funny!
Being a desert lizard too, can’t tell you how inviting the gypsy garden bath looks, don’t you just love pretty things all around ?
Enjoyed this post so much.I would need My husband to stand guard if I was brave enough to bath outside.Where would I go to do this though I’m thinking.Got to try it ; )
SO lovely! Right now here in NY it’s too chilly for an outdoor bath..unless it’s a steamy hot one.
My man’s all time favorite cake is the Brazo Gitano (translation: gypsy’s arm). Thought that would be up your alley! You could do a carrot cake version.
Happiest of birthdays to your sweetie, Mr. Lovee! I know you’ll make it uber-special and he’ll love everything you bake for him because it has that touch of love. 🙂
If I lived in the country or had more privacy, I’d love to have an outdoor gypsy garden bathtub. When you share the photo’s it makes me *SIGH* wistfully. Sadly, my neighbors are teenage boys and the other side are nosy folks who LOOOOOOVE looking into my backyard. So, no nekkid bathing. Eventually I want to put trellis around the top of my fence and let the Thai Princess Hibiscus grow wild and shelter the yard from outsiders. It’s a dream
Oh Miss V. I am just in LOVE with the garden bath. It is hard to say which part of your lovely world is my favorite, but the garden bath is a strong contender!
You should make this cake:

I just discovered this girl’s blog recently and I want to make all her recipes, but this one looks especially amazing. You are a better baker than I so try it out and let me know how it goes!
Shoot. Running naked through a sprinkler works for me!
Hello my darling friend .. Who lives across the ocean from meeeeeee xxxx
You have created the most beautiful world for yourself my dear! How great to have a gypsy bath day after all that gardening. I may be too late I know, but can recommend Nigel Slater’s recipe for Carrot Cake with Mascarpone & Orange as our fave carrot cake ever, going to be blogging it on Idle Bakes soon but in the meantime you can find it here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2005/apr/17/foodanddrink.recipes
Happy Birthday to Mr Lovee, hope you have a lovely celebration together!
Your tub in the sun is so amazing. It looks so inviting…when was the last time I had a luxurious tub bath? Too long ago.
Ah…when I was in Boston, Massachusetts four years ago (seems years ago!) my sister and her husband took us to Mike’s Pastries in the ‘Little Italy’ area of Boston for dessert after having Dim sum at a Chinese restaurant also in Boston. (what a vacation that was for moi!) Anyway, the line of people is out the door on a Saturday evening at Mike’s Pastries, people waiting to see the decadent pastries Mike has to offer. So, I got a little of everything, chocolate cake, canolli’s, and carrot cake..to die for! It wasn’t just your ordinary carrot cake, there were no raisins in it (which was fine with me!) but had coconut, and pineapple, and carrots, and walnuts. I tell you, this cake was marvelously rich, and of course had the cream cheese frosting. One bite and you were in heaven. So, I did go online and I found a similar recipe that used buttermilk in the batter (which my German Chocolate cake recipe uses buttermilk so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with using buttermilk in the recipe).
Anyway, yummy and moist was the cake at Mike’s Pastry. Hope Mr Lovee has a wonderful birthday (and this is why I think you Mr Lovee is so much like my professional artist brother Troy Howell as his birthday is June 26th). You just can ‘miss’ with these awesome guys born in June.
Can’t wait for the Mad Tea Party!!!
=^..^=
Miss Teresa
PS. saw some of my typos. It was suppose to read: ‘you just CAN’T miss with these awesome guys born in June’…and also ‘I think YOUR Mr Lovee’ etc.
Ta! Ta!
We too have a Gypsy Bath on the back half of our acreage. And it is decadent, especially bathing under the stars! Your Images are Enchanting… it makes for a Fantasyscape Escape!
Blessings from the other half of the Arizona Desert… Dawn… the Bohemian
You have the cutest feet! I, too, have realized I am also a desert lizard. Despite the HEAT, I could never give up the blue BLUE skies.
You are no princess; you are an enchantress!!! Much, much higher on the food chain! teehee!
**blows kisses**
Deb
Ooh we have the same toe tan lines on our tootsies…so funny! Your little outdoor tub looks ever so inviting and I must admit, soaking in an outdoor tub is so much more appealing then an indoor one. Just don’t stay in there till yo look like a prune :-)))).
Much love to you from me
Cori
oooooh, lovely, indeedy! And your shoes!!! SWOON! Your Mombie is such a talented one! Are they made from ballet shoes dyed?? The colour is so lovely, and the flowers…..swoooooooooooon! And I’ve been craving rosewater lately, I almost bought myself some rose oil over the weekend….I should have! Lavender and rose and orange blossom are my three favorite smells on earth (well….and then there is coffee and chocolate and….) tee hee. I’ve been looking online for orange blossom water for a while now (as it cannot be had locally) and it seems to have gone up a great deal in price since I last got some….alas. Happy bathing to Yeeeeee!
Cheerio!!!
You make me want to go but a tub and put it in my back yard, gather loads of linens to hang from the treess. Ah, what bliss.
I garden in my sandals so have some funky tan lines.
Carrot cake. Ymmm one of my faves. I think I like any cake with cream cheese frosting.
Who needs a pool when you have a bath in the garden?! This is far superior and far more luxurious I say.
Oh I dream of bubble baths in the garden.
How lucky you are.
Lovely Dawn,
oh yes, then you “know……”
The magic of it all 😉
xoxo
Marmsee, yes my mammie did indeed dye the ballet flats herself…. I need to ask her what color she used… 😉
Coricakes!! xoxox
That’s what I say 😉
YOU!! xoxox
