I am so excited for our autumnal festivites.
The tinge of cooler air and rain brings back sooo much inspiration.
With a huge desire to be outside all the time.
Dreaming in the garden.
Signs of autumn bring a spring to the desert.
I am so excited for our party, I have thoughts beginning to swirl around me, faster and faster.
I go hunting for my black lace gloves.
Any excuse to throw them on.
And jeweled spiders too.
I hunt for my most proper witchy shoes.
Pointy or square toe?
I can’t decide today.
Rambling vines in the gypsy garden lead me on all sorts of imaginative journeys.
Little sparks deep in the belly ignite, thinking of all the things I want to do now that it’s not 105′ degrees.
I have so much to collect and dry and store.
Herbs and flowers and more.
Tinctures and concoctions galore!
It was one of the most beautiful days I have ever had yesterday.
Warm with a very cool breeze.
Drizzles.
Being able to stay outside all day long.
First time in months.
Color and light.
Are you a day dreamer?
I sure am.
I could just sit in a big cozy chair in the garden and dream away as vines crawl up the tree.
Pumpkin and gourds to the left, morning glories to the right.
All self seeded, if you can believe it.
I sit and day dream for a little while and then I get inspired to do something wild and wacky and off I go.
Some pumpkin vines are even curling around the big birdcage.
Going up so so so high into the sky too.
Vines on birdcages make me happy 🙂
I have so much basil I want to dry and freeze and preserve in pesto or just olive oil.
But who can think of doing any of it when the weather is part of your day dreams?
A curtain of clouds decided to dance on the mountain tops.
Just amazing.
Shifting and morphing as that golden light of autumn begins to show its face.
Dancing, glowing through the gardens.
Oh, such glorious and inspiring light.
As the sun went down the clouds turned into cotton candy pink perfection.
What a sight!
Owls turned up, as did big hawks.
Everyone dancing in the pink cloud goodness.
Mister Lovee and I walked hand in hand through the place where the bats swoop down and flutter.
I covered my head with my linen shawl.
Bats here, there and everywhere.
We walked around our path, making plans.
More vines and trees on the west side.
Maybe even our tree house come true?
He surprises me with lots of garden weeding he did, so I can plant some winter seeds.
Loooove help weeding.
All I can think of is absorbing every moment of this time.
I love autumn.
I adore Halloween.
The sun goes down and indeed, turns into evening dreams.
So early too.
I do love summer too, but it’s time for a breather from the heat.
And by breather I mean it’s in the 90’s instead of 100’s.
🙂
I looooove our yearly Halloween party!
It inspires me and helps me to absorb the season.
But for now, we dance in the last days of summer.
We turn on the music and open the windows.
We sway dance in the garden.
I turn it up really loud.
It was indeed a summer breeze evening.
4 more days of summer.
And then, another season.
It’s all so exciting isn’t it?
Dare I take out all my Halloween bins?
Have you taken yours out yet?
I don’t want to miss one morsel in time.
I love it!
You?
Love, V
ps: Made the first pumpkin breads of the season.
What a scent in the kitchen I so missed!

Tis a mystical time of year in the southwest. The last big swirling of monsoons antics with it tropical humidity stewing and brewing with the early autumn sunset colors…. magical mysteriousness!
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
We have had beautiful weather here around Chicago! Lots of sun & 70s. It’s supposed to be that way until next weekend! We might get a little rain from what’s left of that hurricane on Saturday. It might go north of us though!
I don’t like the days getting shorter though. The sun goes away a lot earlier from my back patio.
Love the pink fluffy clouds! Beautiful!
I don’t want summer to end just yet so I’m not putting Halloween up until it’s official on Sept.23!
I should add that it’s not so much that it’s in the 70s, but it’s the 70s with no humidity!!!!!! :0)
Me toooooo!! I have a few things out for photos I took but have not attempted to wrangle out the bins, hahaha!! Will wait until the first day of autumn.
Oh 70′ and no humidity, hello dreamy!!!
Oh yes, exactly and indeeeeeed! It’s sublime!! Dark at 6:45 last night though, eeeks!
You are the inspiration in the air.
Dropping in from a far too long time away……Just to see what wonders and delights you’ve been up to there in your magical realms! Your gardens are beyond otherworldly!! My goodness, me! And all the fairy lights in the trees…oh swoon! I hope you are having a merry little first of autumn-times Miss!!!!
Wow! Such great witchy shoes! And cages to put your enemies in when you turn them into bats!
The fog covered hills look magical! As does the garden!
I am so glad it is that season again! And you are getting all your witchy foot and leg wear out! I have ordered a bunch of striped stockings and am hoping they will arrive in time for October 😛
My Halloween bins are definitely out! 😀 I will unpack them today…tomorrow is “officially” Halloween season to me, hahaha, so it’s time to bring out all the goodies! And to take stock of what I have & what I’ll use so I can see how much new stuff I can fit into my apartment…LOLOL!
Your gardens are looking so lovely, Vanessa. I love the evening pictures. It must be a wonderful spot to sit and just think over your day and plan the next.
Sadly, I still have too much Halloween crafting to do before I pull out my bins of doom and decorate the house. HAHAHA. Weather wise, I’m forced indoors because it’s been raining here nonstop for the past two days and the temps are actually decent. I think the high today will be around 80 degrees and it’s making me crave all things fall and comforting, especially pumpkin bread. I made Indian food the other night with a pumpkin curry sauce – sooooooo yummy!
Every time I visit, I fall in love with your garden, over and over again. It’s so beautiful and it’s always something new different and interesting to see in your photos.
Miss Denise, big hearts to you <3 <3 <3
Marmseeeeee! Oh yes, it is soooo glorious out, yummmm! First light of autumn wishes to you my dear friend <3
Laura, Mister Lovee wanted me to put Matty in the big cage for one second to take a photo. Which if we were talking about Miles, he would gladly do it, but he is tooooo big. And if we plopped Matty in there he would hold a grudge for 3 years and be so traumatized and angry (quirky little angry soul), so I said no way, and he laughed and agreed, hahaha!
Ooooo, new stockings, what fun!!!!
Oh Sara, maybe I will too, oh you ave inspired me!! 😉
Lovely Kathy, it sure is. It’s a nice place to just let all your worries fall away and plan big dreams. Even if they are just dreams 😉
OH thank you for saying so, sometimes I feel like I am boring with the garden all the time. But it is such a huge part of my existence, so I am glad to pieces that you enjoy it <3 <3 <3
To escape the heat of Phoenix, and with a recent visit to Tucson we journeyed to the tippy top of Mt Lemmon in the Catalina’s….ooh, ahhh, my goodness! Lovely, beautiful, exquisite! Not to be outdone, your pictures of the mountains and pink clouds are stunning !
PS: I had my Sonoran dog fix…haha
I LOVE pumpkin in my Indian food, brilliant!! Now I want some 😉
Dixie, you could have waved right at me, hahaha!!
From my house that is what I see, the top of the Catalina’s, where those pink clouds are in the photos.
Was it so cool/chilly and lovely up there? Isn’t it amazing how it’s a forest?
Love, V
Twas 57 degrees and yes, it is amazing with thousands of saguaro’s at the base and with forest and balancing rocks midway to the top ! I did wave…really :)haha !
LOVE your shoes and gloves!
DeLovely. Last year I put out all my Autumn decorations the first of September for my Mister…skipped Thanksgiving and went right to the Christmas tree on November 1st. Ever so glad I did it that way…he was home in Heaven before Christmas.
**blows kisses**
Deb
Oh! Gosh! Pumpkin bread sounds good! With cream cheese on it!
I’m also thinking of baking some oatmeal, craisin, walnut, cookies. They are ever so yummy too!
The lights in your garden, in the evening look so enchanting, like a fairy garden.
I was viewing some photos of Wendy and Brian Froud’s artwork and troll dolls and drawings of fairies; they make you believe there are real ones out there, and I could just see fairy creatures definitely living in your garden and gnomes too!
Come out, come out where ever you are! I am sure they would shyly come out to your call.
This is a magical time of year!
lots of love and hugs, and of course fairy kisses too!
Miss Teresa
I adore your shoes. They remind me of fancy tap shoes!! I’m concocting ideas for The Halloween party as we speak. It is going to be so much fun.
I would kill for that view. I would venture outside if I had a garden like that. Absolutely beautiful
