Flea Market Décor Magazine {& me}

Something fun to share today (and a treat for you too).

The Autumn 2013 issue of Flea Market Décor Magazine is on the stands and…

I have two articles in the issue, yay!

Flea market decor fall 2013 d

I am so excited to see all the hard work that goes into such articles, in print.

Hooooray!

(isn’t it so super annoying to hear/read someone going ” Yay, Hooray!”)

Guess what?

I have an extra copy to giveaway.

Leave a howdy in comments to enter –

or even share what your fave flea market find of all times is.

Flea market decor fall 2013

I am not sharing too much with these photos, as each article is 6 pages long.

Lots of tips and sooo many photos.

I looooove the editor I got to work with, Elaine Phillips, she is amazing.

If that isn’t fun enough…

It gets better.

I got to do a HALLOWEEEEEN article!

Hellooo!

I couldn’t be more tickled, as you know I love Halloween.

And so do sooo many of you.

I adored putting this article together.

Oh, Halloween!

Flea market decor fall 2013 a

I honestly feel like, Halloween isn’t getting enough delicious magazine love the last couple years.

You?

So, I am beyond giddy about getting to share one of the Halloween parties in my garden, in print.

Flea market decor fall 2013 c

I wish I could show you more, but I don’t want to ruin it.

Also…

I have to run, I am making pots and pots of jam.

And, I am on deadline.

I am in this weird never-ending peach dream.

Peaches peaches everywhere!

The harvests and some projects are keeping me sooo busy.

Flea market decor fall 2013 f

It’s actually Christmas in my house right now, the tree is up, and all my ornaments are strewn about whilst I work on a Christmas project.

Imagine?

Christmas in July, too funny!

Life is spinning by so insanely fast, it’s crrrazy.

The jam is yumm btw.

Flea market decor fall 2013 b

I’ll share some recipes and tips soon of everything I have been doing with the peaches.

Well, off I go for now.

If you’d like to get your own copy Flea Market Décor Magazine is carried almost everywhere.

Grocery stores etc.

Autumn 2013.

Or, get it online.

I have to say, the summer 2013 issue was amazing too, so inspiring.

The one thing I love about this magazine is that it is so full of content, more than I see in most magazines these days.  And, it’s all stuff I LOVE.

Leave a comment to enter the giveaway if you’d like.

Love, V

Sparkly heart

ps:  Miles has been holding the laundry hostage for days.

Oh Miley.

Miley laundry day

That, or I am too busy/uninterested to put it away.

🙂

And, Mister Lovee doesn’t care if I do.

I always say, I should clean today.

And he says, don’t you have anything lovelier or more exciting you could do than that?

And I am like, Why soytanlee.

But sometimes, I feel like I need someone to crack the whip, or I’ll be rotten forever.

Perpetually 13.

This is a problem.

Oy Vey y Dios Mio!

  4. Dawn says:

How exciting for you Vanessa, Yay! Hooray! Huzzah! Rah Rah! There, I can be annoying with you…LOL. I’d love to get a copy of that mag. My favorite flea market/thrift store find is a fun purse with pin up girls all over it. People always comment on it. Not sure if it’s old or newish, but it’s unique.
Your peach jam is making me drool and my furbaby Scout likes to steal the clean laundry and hide it under the table.
Take care and enjoy your peach harvest!
    Dawn <3

  5. Gioncarla says:

How very exciting! I would love to have a copy of that magazine! If I do not win I think I shall have to get my grubby little hands on a copy anyway!
My favorite find was a gorgeous Mexican tin art piece it has two doves holding a banner in front of a heart with a crown in it. The banner states “te amo corazon” and the most significant thing about it was that my husband took me antiquing for our anniversary, on our 10th anniversary date and thats when we found it hiding in a booth at an indoor flea market/antique spot. The owner said if she had known it was there she would have kept it herself, that it must be true for us. And it was. 🙂
Thank you for this giveaway, and for being wonderful, magical, inspiring you.
    xoxo

  6. Deborah Fry says:

OH! wowsers hon! Congratulations 🙂 you go girlie!!!

  13. Sue says:

Howdy Vanessa and Congrats on the articles! My favorite flea market treasure is a tiny Steiff bear that I found. My husband had wandered off and left me (I was going to slow for him). I asked the lady at the table if she had any teddy bears and she pulled out this little 6″ antique bear. She told me she wanted $20.00. I only had $15.00 and after opening my wallet to prove it to her, she said ok, you can have him! After thanking her, I left her booth with the biggest smile on my face. I learned years later, when I had him appraised, that he was worth around $450.00!

  14. Sherri says:

I flipped through the magazine in the store and it’s gorgeous! Now I have to go back and get it. I LOVE Halloween- it’s a terribly underrated holiday!

  15. With summer being a mere 3 months…maybe 🙁 …the dream of Halloween brings a smile:). Yes I believe it is under created!
I will have to go on an adventure to see if this inspirational magazine gets to Canada? Thank you for the info and of course…your amazing creative, detailed and inspirational imagination! xDebi

  16. Jo anderson says:

Squeal….oh fairy god , I’m so proud of you…singing and skipping

  17. Deborah Fry says:

    my favorite flea market find:
a pair of french chairs (louis XV I believe?) probably early 1930’s.
I found them last year at Marburger Farm Antique Show … down in Roundtop, Texas.

  19. Oh! Yeah! I would love to have a copy of the magazine with your fabulous page by page article. You are so lucky to be published!
I am content with finding vintage French green ticking fabric in a Massachusetts flea market, and other lovely crocheted items.
I hope this comment gets posted as lately I have posted a comment and gone back later to see that it was not posted. I don’t know what is up with Google sometimes!
    hugs,
    Miss Teresa
(I am so ready for autumn! This heat is wilting me.)

  29. Misha/DawaiOser says:

Yaaaaaay, hooray, INDEED! I’m so excited for you. I did a little squee about the Halloween issue as well, since you know how it’s my all-time favorite. Haha. I’m such a freak for the holiday/event that if I see a magazine with it featured, hoping for inspiration, I buy it. That said, I’ve never seen the magazine, “Flea Market Finds” — which looks pretty cool. I’ll have to get a subscription. 🙂

  30. Lesley Walker says:

Congratulations Vanessa. I honestly don’t know how you manage to fit so many activities into a day. If you could bottle your energy you could make a fortune. lol. I would love to see the magazine, but unfortunately it’s not available in the UK. luv and Blessings to you, Mr. Lovee and the fur babies.

Your peach jam is making me drool! Looking forward to seeing some recipes.
Congrats on the magazine articles! If I win, I’ll be glad. If not, I’m off to get a copy – especially for the Halloween article. It is my favorite holiday, during my favorite season. Somehow, in wandering the internet in 2008, I found your Halloween party and have been hooked on your fanciful blog ever since.

  35. Gypsy Baroness says:

How very exciting to see your lovely treasures in a magazine! I’ve loved thrifting and antiquing for years (just had a grand weekend of it!). I do believe your Mr. Lovee and mine are related…music..no pressure to keep house…permission to play ‘Wendy House’ all day…aren’t we the lucky ones?!!
Off to play in the gardens!

  36. Meg says:

Oh congratulations on your articles, Vanessa! Well done, you! And your peach jam looks completely gorgeous.
You really are so very talented in so many ways. 😀
    Favourite find….that’s a difficult one.
I’ve spent the last year working part-time at a Goodwill shop, and it’s been an exercise in discipline, because I love *cool stuff*. I took this job so that I could just *visit* with all those lovely things and wouldn’t feel the need to give them all a home. (Um…. I’m getting better, but it’s still a work in progress.)
My most recent favourite find was a beautiful sterling silver serpent/dragon with a pin & pendant back.
My two favourite finds before that are both from YEARS ago….
One is a cobalt blue glass hand – nearly lifesize. It’s currently sitting in one of my shrines holding a chinese prosperity knot.
The other is an absolutely perfect sterling silver skull pendant which I found at a flea market 20+ years ago.
    Cheers,
    Meg

  37. Beti says:

Congratulations ! I be looking for this on the newsstand next time I am out and about. Lovely day to you all!

  38. Rhissanna says:

Howdy! Oh, and possibly more important, congratulations! It’s wonderful and it’s always nice to be recognised for what you do, right? You deserve this, just for sheer amazingness. Is that a word? I’m going to write it as if it is. You’re full of amazingness, Vanessa.

  39. Congrats to you Vanessa. I am sure your two articles made that fun magazine more twisty and fanciful. If I should win a copy of this magazine I would be quite delighted. Thank you for offering it. (My best flea market find was a solid oak round coffee table with “ball and claw” feet, about 20 years ago, that I still have today. It was only $25).

  40. Magical indeed!!!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed, I sooo need this!!! lol
    xoxo

  41. Alia says:

I hope it isn’t too annoying, because I say “Yay!!” all the time! If i don’t win this magazine I am definitely going to go buy it. It looks delightful!

  42. Alia, I do too, I feel like I am obnoxious, I always say YAY!! Even
in real person, or hooooray! 😉 I thought maybe it sounded a little self
absorbed to exclaim yay and hooray for myself though, hahahaa!!

Vanessa, CONGRATULATIONS!! How wonderful that you were featured in this magazine. 🙂 I’ve been majorly inspired by you, especially by your Mad Hatter Tea Parties. Oh and your gypsy love spaces, and Halloween decorations, oh and Christmas too – I could go on and on! I currently rent a space in an antique mall and this month I’ve been displaying (and selling!) all sorts of fabulous finds to make your own “madhatterteaparty.” Now I am going to go and buy a couple copies of this magazine (one for me, one to display.) I’ve sent several people to your blog, but with this magazine, they can now see how to really “do it up – properly.” Thank you for sharing so much with us!
    ~Bon

  48. commanderkip says:

Hi, Miss Vanessa! Congrats on your features! I would love a copy of the mag. I do almost all my clothes shopping at thrift stores because they have the weird blousy hippie/gypsy clothes that no one else wants but that I love, hee.

  49. karenleigh says:

You’re just so magically inspiring! I’d love win this copy!

  50. Jessica says:

Congrats on the articles! So exciting! My favorite flea market find…hmmmm…so many choices….a wooden box with paintings of clocks on the front of it, sparkly beads glued on it, a leather handle, and when I opened it, green felt lining with a gold trimmed mirror. So lovely and just $1! It was a steal! I made a traveling case for herbal medicines out of it and take it everywhere I go. Would love an issue of the magazine for more ideas to add to my gypsy wagon of a house!

  51. Deborah Fry says:

When do you let us know who won? 🙂 lol… I can’t find it at the stores, so guess I will have to order it if I’m a loser hehehe.

  60. Congrats! Would love to see it–have it–savor it…little escape times anytimes…

  61. Dixie says:

What fun is Flea Market Décor ! Both of your articles are wunderbar ! I wish the entire mag could have been filled with your Halloween articles.
A question…or two. I’ve noticed on occasion, a beautiful silver piece, that you usually post with tea and/or rose petals that possibly looks to be a tea infuser with a base ? Did it happen to be a lucky treasure find ? I have been on the hunt for something that even comes close. Treasure hunting is so much fun !
PS: Hope your lovely mom had a grand B-day 🙂

  62. Emalina says:

Many congratulations on your two articles! Well done for spreading the Halloween inspiration far and wide. That peach jam looks amazing. I’m about to make my first ever jam this weekend, blackcurrant, from the glut of fruit in our fruit cages. Wish me luck!

  63. Shell says:

Congrats on being featured in Flea Market Decor Mag!!! The coolest thing I got from a Flea Market is a beautiful sculpture in a frame of lovers embracing. Got it for five dollars. It resonates with beauty and love.

  64. beeja jacobs says:

howdy, vanessa! the best flea market score was an OOOOOOOOOLD, and i mean OLD, gold gilded scrolled frame with just a little piece missing. it is worn and beautiful. i paid 20$. how about that????!!

  65. DogsMom says:

I have reached a point in my life that I do not often buy magazines anymore, at least not at retai prices. I am so far behind in reading them as it is, and I ahte throwing one out until I have read it. I am going to RUN out and find this issue.
I would still like to win a copy because I knw this will be a magazine I will keep but want to share!
I love garage saling and do not often get to flea markets but I love finding framed needlework pieces.

  66. Theresa says:

Congrats on the magazine features! They look awesome, Vanessa. Especially the Halloween one – I SOOOOO cannot wait for fall! It cannot come quickly enough for me. 🙂 Such a cute photo of Miles. Sorry I missed your giveaway but congrats to the lucky winner. 🙂

  67. yay!! Hooraaay!!! (see, you made me say it too and put a smile on my face!)

  68. bella says:

boo. I missed the giveaway. But congratulations on your articles. That is very exciting. I am going to have to find these mags in the store. Can’t wait to see what else you have up your sleeve with this talk of Christmas… in July! Well, I mean, it was July when you wrote this, that’s how far behind I am. ha.

  69. Marjorie says:

Congtats Miss Twist!!!! Whenever I’m in a bookshop (the big ones with a forest of magazines in front….you know?) I always look to see if your magic is inside any of them…..and I find you there a bunch, and I get excited and show my husband and feel so glad for you!!! : ) This is splendid news!! I’ll be sure to look!!!! Hooray!

  70. I agree with Kim…it is so FUN to crack a magazine and say, “Oh! I know her. That’s our famous friend Vanessa!”
In fact, I’ve gone to four different stores now trying to find it. Violet gets disappointed each time they don’t have it. We’ll try to find it next time we’re in Dallas. If all else fails, we’ll order it online.
