I am typing with paint covered hands and fingers.
Pink and red and green and more pink.
It's a busy painting day.
But, I had to stop by for a smidge.
What with sparkles and holiday excitement fluttering about…
Also, poppy seeds and hollyhock seeds have arrived.
Mixed seeds are in the garden already.
Spring time makings in the today, I love that.
You know what else I love?
Early winter morning.
When the house is hazy grey.
I turn on the heater in the dining room.
Put on some music, maybe something like this…
Put on the coffee, make some tea for me.
Watch the steam.
Oatmeal pancakes beckon.
(a new invented recipe that worked lovely)
Pop the following in the blender.
(Then heat a skillet, oil and butter it, pour from blender, magic.)
Oatmeal Pancakes (blender style)
1 cup oatmeal
(I use regular oatmeal, not instant)
1 and 3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 heaping tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
Churn in blender until totally incorporated.
(1 minute or so)
Then just pour per desired size onto heated and oiled skillet.
Flip when bubbles appear (about 2 minutes a side)
Makes about 8-10 mid sized cakes
Eat.
Invite your fave guests.
Almond milk, heated syrup, melted butter – check.

Grey cold day, warm inside.
Mmmmm.
Quiet.
The turning of Mister's newspaper pages.
Snoring pups by the table.
Raisin faces for fun.
Small raisins for eyes and mouth, giant yellow raisin for nose.
No raisins for dogs of course.
I like making faces on the under side of pancakes.
Crinkly pancake faces.

Butter dripping with real maple syrup.
Need I say more?
🙂

Make these, they are so goooooood.
Living.
I am happy to be alive.
And happier to be alive and happy 🙂
Aren't you?
Life is a crazy place.
Sometimes, we just need to throw everything up in the wind and have oatmeal pancakes.
Maybe, even…
For dinner.
Gasp!
🙂
Okay, I must get back to work.
If all works out, new little faces sooooon!
How are ya out there in the world?
It's cooool here, brrrr.
We had a freeze and had to run out and collect last pumpkins like mad people.
And gourds too.
(there are a dozen I can't reach in the trees)
Oh my!
Love, Vanessa
ps: Fall was/is weird this year so I just got my seeds in the ground yesterday.
I always plant the Fall max mix from American Meadows.
(in fall rain)
In fact, when you go there, the first pic on the site is my garden that grew from their seeds.
I love their seeds.
My garden pic…
I tried to write them once to ask to give you all a discount, but didn't get a response.
Oh well 😉
Their seeds still rock, if you need some.
And they actually grow.
Toss them out in that cold fall rain, you will have magic in spring.

Seems like just yesterday I was running around in barefeet with the furry ones. Now we are huddled close in our long sleeves and extra warm sleeping socks.
Miles is such a good furry one sporting his thinking glasses, cutie-pie dog dog.
I think the seed company should give you free seeds for life! :o)
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
I was wanting to plant seeds this fall, but with the cottage on the market, it just didn’t make sense. I wish it would hurry up and sell so I can get sorted out and back to normal activities! Those pancakes sound divine. It’s been very cold and rainy here the past few days. So I wonder, do oats have gluten? I need to google that! Have a marvelously fabulous week!
love & blessings
~*~
ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles!
Oh those pancakes look soooo good. REAL maple syrup is a must for pancakes, I agree. I’m definitely going to try this recipe sometime. To Laura – above – Bob’s Red Mill makes awesome gluten-free oats. I use them all the time for homemade oatmeal. I love days such as this – enjoying a leisurely breakfast, hot cup of coffee/tea, pups by our side. It’s cold here – and we had ice this morning – trapping us at home. Tomorrow, we’ll have a bit of snow, too. Thanks for sharing your lovely day! xoxo
Hellooo Miss Laura 😉 Nope no gluten as far as I know – so, you can
substitute the extra 1/4 cups and 2 tablspns flour for gluten free flour or
oatmeal flour. I make oatmeal flour in my food processor all the time
😉

I make my own oat flour and I make my own gluten free flour mix.
Those sound delicious! I think I’m going to get some of the southwest natives since we are at a low and dry elevation! Thank you, for telling us about it. We just did a cleanup on the backyard, so now would be perfect.
The pancakes… I just noticed that I ran my two paragraphs together. Though they did have an edible mix!
How cool your garden is on there. I need to order some of the seeds.
Your pancake recipe sounds good. I have to try it. I make pancakes for my grand every times he is here. Last time she was here my nieces were too so I made pancakes for 3 giggly girls. My niece Abby told me she tells her daddy (my nephew) his pancakes are never as good as mine. LOL I love compliments from children, they are always real. I have made oatmeal pancakes before. I love apple or blueberry pancakes. But everyone else always wants plain.
It has been coldish here. Yesterday was rainy and coldish so I spent the afternoon on the bed watching movies on the Kindle. (Hubby had something on the TV).
I’ve been decorating and decorating. Then putting away all the boxes from all the decorating.
Oh those pancakes look so delicious! I didn’t plant seeds this fall, but may still since we have a pocket gopher with quite an appetite. Native Seed Search is also a great place for seeds. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Renee, you are soooooo good. I need to put my boxes away!! What
a mess 😉

such a wonderful post. it is good to hear about flowers again…It is cold and snowy here in Michigan… About 22 degrees (F) and snowing. Warm pancakes sound really yummy. It’s a good day for a fire in the fireplace.
Hope you all are well.
I’m all green and pink paint today too! Your wonderful pictures of the tasty food look so warming and cosy and I could almost eat that pancake right off the computer screen! 😉
Jess xx
Ooh! Your pancake man looks like a snowman whose been up to no good! Just look at his mischievous little smile. Hello Mr. Pancake man, do you care to take a tour of my mouth? I have some taste buds who will be very excited to make your acquaintance…tee hee!
It all looks so scrump-dilly ;-)). And your plates are a feast for the eyes as well ;-))).
We’ve had weird weather here too. In fact, right now, it’s so warm outside that I’m wearing a tank top. Yesterday it was so cold that I was completely bundled in layers. Weird weather indeed!
Xoxo
Coricakes, its so cold here today the ice never melted in the bird baths
etc. Eeeek!!

Miss Vanessa those pancakes look so good!
80 degrees here and STILL those pancakes look delicious. I’ve been collecting various flavors of baked “French Toast Casseroles” on my Pinterest and the several that I’ve tried have been amazing. Next up is Eggnogg. Wonder if there could be an eggnogg pancake flavor? I’d imagine so, right! 🙂
Me want so of those pancakes and that guest to visit.
Yumm and sweet!
Miles + glasses=adorable.
I bet Matty growls at you if you go anywhere near him with accessories, right?
Good thing Miles takes after Lovee.
do you know what I adore most about you?
you use ALL your pretty things (tea cups, plates, jewelry, real maple syrup, making faces on pancakes!)
it’s the little things that make a life…..:)
I am a huge lover of pancakes, everything breakfast food, and everything pumpkin! These sound so mmmm mmmm good! We got snow, and beautiful grey days here in Utah as well. My wife and I love ’em. <3 Perfect snuggle, gaming, and craftsy weather!
I have been making this pancake recipe ever since you shared it a few years ago. It’s my all time favorite and the only recipe I use! When I started the gluten-free thing, I just used gf oats and gf flour and they still taste just as yummy! I am making them for Christmas morning. Maple syrup has become so dang expensive that I can only enjoy these delights on very special holidays!
Everytime I make them, I think of you and Lovee and the doggie boys.
This recipe is a hair different than the other one because of course, I
cant leave well enough alone ;))))
