Dreams of Alice…
Waft in through thickest rain clouds…
Clouds dusted with pink sun hues hiding from behind.
A cool breeze and rain drops tease a parched earth.
Leading me on an early morning journey.
Through dark corridors, where words are scribbled from a feather tip, onto parchment.
Tales and stories that capture all.
Grey light diffused through wavy old windows.
Candlelight.
Curious mirrors beckoning you, promising safe passage.
Secret doors and nooks and crannies.
All there for the taking.
Endless flights of imagination.
If you dare.
Alice lives within all and everyone.
Those who travel into her tales.
Those who long for such adventures.
Curious happenings of the most wonderland variety.
Tiny tea and chats with bunny.
Growing tall, then very small.
I dream of times gone by.
Long long agos.
Which these very moments will be one day too.
Writing letters.
Jotting down dream stories.
Stories that are lost at first gasp of air from deep sleep.
Lost if you do not capture them quickly as can be.
Thank goodness he captured Alice's adventures perfectly.
Thank you Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.
Aka, Lewis Carroll.
What a great gift he bestowed unto all.
An endless expanding and wonderland gift.
So that today we can still celebrate.
Plotting and planning away.
Our own way of becoming a part of those mad tea party ways.
He was so taken by her.
Wasn't he?
That Alice girl who inspired such journeys?
If you are a wandering dreamer…
Much like me –
Which I dare guess that you are…?
Then, the gift is infinite because if we wish just so, we can go there too.
To that place where mushrooms grow and grow.
And cats with biggest grins chatter like mad and grin beyond glad.
The first copy…
Of what he planned, for you and you and you and me.
Lots of good this and that's hidden in this little book.
Perfect for inspiring me to hide.
In a secret little writing nook.
Sending snail mail letters to friends far away.
Artists and imaginarians I know so well.
Lovers of fur children and friends telling tales to littles.
A book, a written letter, a written tale.
The page.
The page that brought us oh so much and more.
Do you have a favorite happening from Wonderland?
Tumbling Tumbling…
Down that rabbit hole?
One of the greatest gifts of all.
Don't you think?
Are you prepping and looking for mad tea party inspiration?
I am.
I am in a dream day, of places far away.
You?
Off I run for now.
See you sooooon!
Looooove, V
ps: My sister gave me the most hugest feather headband ever.
She didn't want it anymore, so I gladly took off with it.
I seem to want to wear it everyday.
It makes me so happy when I catch a glimpse in a mirror and I have this giant thing on my head.
Sometimes I forget I am wearing it, so I am shocked at first.
Then I laugh.
Makes me want to purchase all matter of most giant head gear.
Hats included.
I am sure I must look mad in it.
But, isn't it just perfect for a wild and kookie tea party???

Hi, Vanessa.
I was very inspired this year for the Mad Tea Party and I finished my “project” just this past weekend. I can’t wait to share it in July. In fact, I was so inspired that I’ve decided to be “dark Alice” on Halloween this year… the inspiration just never ends.
Anyway, I can’t wait to see what every one does. It’s always a bunch of fun. 🙂
Carmen
Aw! Me thinks it is most perfect and glorious perched upon thy head. Just don’t forget to take it off before you go to bed :-))).
Lewis Carroll was truly a master story teller…and so art thou!! :-))
Oh my that is a most excellent be-feathered headband, lovely!
Have a wonderfully adventurous day.
Always, Queenie
Don’t worry about feeling mad with the giant headband, Vanessa ~ “we are all mad here!”. : ) I love it and you look fabulous with it on, dahling! Yes, plans are made, my daughter says she has the story ready, we are just hoping for a good weekend this weekend to take pictures. It will be here before you know it and we don’t want to be running around like a white rabbit mumbling “I’m late, I’m late . . .”.
Hi Vanessa,
I am so hoping to be able to join in with the tea party and think I can, but just so much going on here at the moment. I will let you know soon though! I couldn’t wear that headband as Cassie is scared by things on my head. She thinks I have become something else, something that is going to eat her!
xx
My dear – that feathered/flowered headband is AMAZING and so perfect! It’s like Holly Golightly visited Alice in Wonderland and they had a love child in you.
It’s been a long day at work and the only thing that makes me feel better is planning for the tea party…so thank you for the escapism.
I wasn’t that big a fan of Alice and Wonderland until I discovered your parties so long ago. I have such a new appreciation for them now. I’m scrambling to figure out what to do for MTP this year. My move was pushed back a week and it is impacting my play time! Darn it! 🙂
Love the hairband!
love & blessings

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles
Oh how could you know, Dearest Dear Vanessa, how deep I am in my own personal wonderland tonight? Just before I decided to take a break, I had settled Dear Alice, The Cheshire Cat, The Dormouse and two special guests into their seats of cherry velvet at the table!! What do you suppose it is about this story that inspires us all in so many different ways? I have so many favorite parts of the story, but I do think The Tea Party is always my favorite! How I would have loved to have been there! I am actually planning a birthday tea for one of our friends for her 73rd birthday next week! I’ll use any excuse to plan a tea party!
Wishing you lots of inspiration for your party!
Betty
Carmen, it’s so funny you are saying this because, I have a bit of Halloween of the brain, and and somehow having to keep myself from morphing it all together 🙂
I did go to bed with it, hahahaha!!
Your highnesssss, so lovely to see you 😉
Oh oh Kathy, I wish I could get it together sooner than the last minute as is my usual m.o. hahaha! You girls rock!
Sarah, we would love to have you, but if you can’t we totally understand! xoxo
Laura, I am with you. I liked Alice in Wonderland a lot, but this yearly party allowed me to morph it into my own liking, and now I looooove it 😉
Miss Betty, you are sooo fab! Oh,that party will be a hit!! I do quite love that tea party myself 😉
Alice in Wonderland is my favorite..I don’t have a fav..part…just all of it. I loved it as a child and now as an older adult. It’s a wonderful story that really stretches the imagination and makes you stop and think. I am really excited this year.
Your headband is wonderful, full of whit and whimsy.
Oh, tis a very elegant feather headband, me thinks?
Ever since I was a young child I have always been in love with ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass’. I always wanted to be able to go through the Wonderland looking glass, as I wanted to follow Alice all the way through her journeys and see her become Queen Alice. There were many twists and turns throughout her journey. I do believe the Cheshire Cat has always been my favorite character, next to Alice, as she is my favorite. Maybe it is because I have always loved cats and I found that attraction too irresistible! And I loved the up-side-down world Alice fell into underground. I would have loved to have been able to float and go down a curious hole lined with books, filled with floating chairs, and tea cups, following a White Rabbit at the bottom of it all. I actually liked the part where Alice is in the Old Curiosity Shop where the Sheep is sitting there, and eggs are in a basket, which eventually Alice meets Humpty Dumpty. It is all such a dream state of an adventure. You have to pinch yourself to see if you are really in Wonderland! Wonderland will always be that magical place I can always find with the turn of a page in Lewis Carroll’s whimsical land.
I am so happy you have had some rain!
XO
Miss Teresa
=^..^=
Miss Teresa,
you are a kindred lover of tales! Oh, well, the rain lasted about 6
minutes (not exaggerating), and it was more of a hard sprinkle, but in a place
where I have felt no rain for so long, I cant recall when? It was just
glorious. I am not sure I have felt rain at all in about 7 months.
Have you had some good rain?
ps: But the clouds were beyond words all day, thick and colorful and
dreamy!!
Vanessa, I am dreaming, planning and preparing for the Mad Tea!!! Oh it is going to be a Grand Day!!! I adore your feather headband, I do believe it would be perfect for the event🖤
Blessings,
Dena
Firstly, you look fabulous in that headband. Secondly, your books have piqued my curiosity! How many Alice themed books do you own? Looks like you might be able to start an Alice bookshop of your own 😛
Charming and mad all mixed together our hostess with the mostess!!! So will your dear sis play along with us this year? <3 Working on some pics for MTP and always looking about for inspiration!
My favorite would have to be the tea party because it is a PARTY and who doesn't like that and a bit of madness now and again! ; )
Sometimes I am carried away with joy — two things in this post had me on its wings — your feather headband, which is simply divine. And your Alice and Lewis Carroll. One of my blogger buddies also has written a Carroll book. Interesting man.
Still on the fence about the tea party, as I may not be in Internet world around the 12th. But I will certainly visit. Been too wrapped up in wedding things to actually get a good party idea in mind… but I’m thinking!
Oh what fun! And your feather headdress! Such Such fun (and so pretty with your hair up), indeed! Our miss has a little dress up area that we arranged for her (so she can hang up her own little frocks and tutus and petticoats and various animal masks and tails…tee hee)….She has a pink feather boa that is always wrapped around my neck as a winter scarf when she is dressing me up….my goodness but it does itch!! tee hee. ; ) Happy tea party times to you!
How tickled I am to see that this wondrous gathering is still taking place,
a hatter, a curious girl, sparkles, fur children and all!
I hope to join you and your guests this year, Vanessa.
I’m lost in a daydream of memories in the colors of summer, pages of books that have taken my heart hostage, but I think some tea would be lovely.
Do count me in, please.
xoxo’s
