Crazy Little Days!

It's been madness here, of the real and true variety.

I can't even tell you.

One thing I know for sure, I am soooo excited about the Mad Tea Party.

YAY for so many of you joining in.

Of course, there is still lots of time to plunge, so you can tell your pals.

I have been so busy, and in the midst of it all, guess what I did?

Yep, last living person on earth to create a Facebook page.

(folks have been asking me for years if I had one)

Hello.  Why did a FB page always scare me?

As for life…

Days 1

I was finishing up some deadlines…

On my way to playing with shoes, and working on some recipes to share…

When, I plunged into another very busy project.

Details to come soon.

Alice was like, wait wait, we need to play with shoes.

Days 13

And I was like, shoe tidying is going on the back burner.

I have to go to work asap on some quick happening things.

 Busy bee times!

Shoe time to come later, re-organizing, getting rid of.

Etc.

Later.

Heaps of shoes on the floor still.

400 pairs still boxed from city to country move.

Still.

Faves in the closets, safe.

Be nice to your shoes, they have souls too you know.

Soles.

Days 2

Oh oh, and get this.

Our small community well pump… Broke.

So for 4 days we have had nary a trickle of water.

Watering the garden, what a job.

Having to let some thing go.

Sobs.

The pumpkins are coming up so fast it isn't funny.

Crazy fast.

Flower, pollen, plump in a week, ripe the next…

What on earth???

Days 6

We are waiting with bated breath for water stuff to be fixed.

Meanwhile, it's 105'F

(40.55' C I think?)

Hotter than you can imagine.

Thank goodness it is a dry heat.

Not one bit of humidity at all anywhere.

Mama mia!!

🙂

Days 9

Lots of veggies are coming up.

Giant onions.

Celery…

Days 4

Lettuce by the barrel full.

Days 11

Carrots, radishes, ever so much dill which I am enjoying greatly.

Days 10

And before the heat fire ball hit us, I made…

Bunuelos.

Squiggly on the "n."

Days 8

Days 12

Days 14

Brown sugar cinnamon stick sauce.

Ooooo.

Recipe to come soon, I promise.

Days 15

As for breakfast…

I learned how to make a frittata a few years ago from Jennifer, of The Two Fat Ladies.

We enjoy them so much.

(Basically you just sautee all your veggies, then put them into your raw egg mixture - I use 6 eggs- that has a little grated cheese in it plus spices/salt, swirl together, and then pour into a pan with a little olive oil and butter, cover, cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until the top is set, never flip)

Veggies, broccoli, thin sliced potato, red pepper etc.

Days 3

Perfect sunday brunch.

Days 5

This guy and his wife (horned toads) and babies are doing great.

I love seeing them every year when it gets real hot.

They hover over ant hills and munch.

Days 7

Someone slept until 10 a.m. today…

Miley sleepy

Granted…

I did take them out at 3:50 a.m. with me, to attempt to water with a trickle, and enjoy the cool early morn air.

Then we all jumped back into bed for a few minutes a couple hours after garden stuff.

Only, I had to get up and Miles kept snoring.

Matty goes where I go, so he went off with me.

Miley, stayed in bed until now.

Snore, roll on back, snore more, puts paws over eyes.

What a life.

YAY for Mad Tea, hopes for water soon (please!), deadline central around here.

Back to work I go.

How are you????

Looove, V

Sparkly heart

  1. Moonfairy says:

Oh my, do you really have over 400 pairs of shoes? You lucky girl (not green with envy at aaaall)!
Your garden looks wonderful btw 🙂

  2. Oh no, I hope your water issues are solved soon, Vanessa! We are having a cool week here this week, no {or very low} humidity with wonderful breezes. I wish it could be like this all Summer. Your frittata looks delicious! I’m debating whether to talk hubby into an omelette for dinner or figure something else out. Hoping the cooler weather and breezes stay for the weekend. We are going to attempt to do our pictures for the tea party Saturday! : )

  3. Kelly says:

Sending you prayers that your water problems are fixed QUICK, QUICK, QUICK! Ugh, I feel for you, cuz our AZ summers can make us CRAZY!!!
Your EXTRA Early cool mornings, good eats and HOT HOT days thru late into the evenings along with some sole searching, no wonder Miles is exhausted! I know you are worrying and wide awake with Sooo much stewing in your brain. Just remember Vanessa, you are a pioneer of your Fanciful world and YOU WILL survive!!! Keep strong! Sending you <3 and :)!

  4. supposedly there will be water Friday, just found out!! A trickle for
now, better than nada me thinks ;))) xo

  5. Sarah says:

Hi Vanessa! Glad all is going well in your garden and elsewhere-well apart from the water but hopefully it will be fixed soon. You have an impressive collection of shoes! So much choice! And the horned toad is lovely. I wouldn’t have known that was a toad, but would have thought he was a lizard.
I will be joining your party-just saw it below! I have far too many teapots and they need a job for a day! xx

  6. Oh my gosh – not having water is worse than not having air conditioning. At least a rotating fan can blow air on you…but the NO WATER thing is awful. Not being able to flush the toilet? Plus, I’d go nuts if I couldn’t take a shower at least every other day…you poor thing. I know, I know – “1st World Problems”, eh? LOL.
In my spare time between work and my own garden/yard work, I’ve been busy planning a tea party around here. I’m so excited! 🙂

  7. Deborah Fry says:

Way too much to say …lol 400 pair? (not sure how many I have..will have to count them. do flip flops count?) I love that shoe closet want want LOL
I have often wondered what happened to our horny toads..they went west! We had so many, I named them LOL… haven’t seen one since the ’60s no clue why? guess they got sick of our humidity.
I have been working in my garden too .. only flowers and trees, no veggies.. maybe next year I will brave them.
Now all I need is a bitty bite of that frittata then Miles, Jazz and I will be so cozy 🙂 until dessert. LOL
    xoxo

  8. Marilyn says:

I can’t even imagine no water for four days or more, especially in your heat.
I think I would be out in the garden during the night too and then a siesta would be on the agenda. Excited for the tea party.

  9. There is just a trickle of water, like a very low pressure bit. But not enough to make sprinklers twirl, it’s like if you turn on a hose and it runs less than half, like a nice little drizzle….YIKES. Supposedly it will be fixed Friday, YAY!!!

  10. Alia says:

Whoa, look at all those tasty veggies! I just today signed up for one of those services that delivers local organic fruits and vegetables to my house on a regular basis, but maybe I should just pay you my money instead and you can send a box of extra garden goodies down the road to me! And while you are at it throw in a couple of those pairs of shoes you are looking to get rid of. I mean 400 pairs? That is definitely impressive. I thought I had a lot of shoes, but I got nothing on you Miss V!

  11. Love your shoe cabinet, want one!
Our pumpkins haven’t even started flowering yet, but this year we planted several so I’m hoping for many in time for Halloween 🙂

  12. Rub it in……….freezing up here! Love your shoe collection! FB…them Im the second last and have privacy blocks everywhere….Thankfully the creative communtiy has dragged me into the techy world…one toe at a time….
Dont forget sunblock and be careful in the garden ………….Hot Tea Time..bye!🖤

  13. Kyra says:

Man, my garden is not putting out like that! 🙂 Sounds hot there, but I agree, I love non-humidity areas. Unfortunately, it’s humid here. Blah.
Good luck with the tea party! I may be painting lots of Alice in Wonderland, but stopping for tea seems out of my reach. 😉

  14. Dixie says:

I love pumpkins, don’t you just love the joy of pumpkins ? Pumpkin patches…pumpkin faces…pumpkin foods, make me smile from ear to ear. Lucky girl you are to have a garden with pumpkins galore. Whatever you have to do, keep those sweet little cherubs watered 😉

  15. marjorie says:

Oh nooo! I hope all is well again soon in the water department! And…..your not the very last living person..I’m still holding out!! tee hee ; ) Your pumpkins!! SWOON! I planted seeds, they have sprouted…but I fear we do not get enough sunshine for them to thrive…..we shall see I guess! meep! : )

  16. I guess you could use some of that Arizona rainstorm weather about now, a deluge would be nice for your garden! Pray for rain!!! Ha!
I am all a dither about the Mad Tea Party…I am! I am!
I almost have the giggles I am so excited about it!
    Cheerio! and Tut! Tut!
We have a juke box that plays ‘Goodness! Gracious! Great Balls of Fire!’ Kind of ads to the suspense of the moment for the tea party!
I HAVE to finish my Cheshire Cat I have been making for the past four months…as I AM going to give him away at the Mad Tea Party! Yikes! I must finish him!
    And other goodies too… =^..^=

  17. Oh, Yeth…I do loveth all of your loverly shoeth!!!
I’m sure Cinderella would have a ‘ball’ trying them on to see which ones would fit!!!

  18. Jenn says:

Oh dear no water! Shucks! You must tell me your secret for getting rid of things. I’ve become a major holder-onto-er. I don’t want to get rid of anything it’s all treasure! How do I avoid become a hoarder? GAH! Oh and what lovely cooking creations. Your food makes me want to get off my tush and cook. I must admit I acquired a bit of an addiction to fast food over the past few months and am trying to cut it out now. WITHDRAWALS!

  19. Jill James says:

I used to be a shoe freak….but now I have bunions! I wear sparkly Allegria shoes (and still some high heels) Your shoe closet is to die for….
How cute is your baby boy sleeping on the bed? (no, not Mr. Lovee ~ ha ha) My husband sleeps in another room because he has horrible snoring problems. Ordered some racing earplugs to try….
I make a bisquick fritatta & yours looks yum (love 2 Fat ladies ~ didn’t one of them die? They were so funny) Bunuelos? Mr. Lovee is living heaven here on earth……

  20. laura says:

I’m still crazy for those pink shoes! I tried to find some at Anthro but they never had my size. 🙁 I’m making plans for my tea party and watching my pumpkins mounds sprout. We’ve had rain for 5 days straight so I haven’t been able to get into the garden. I hope to do that tomorrow. 🙂
    love & blessings

  21. Shell says:

I do love your beautiful space for your shoes. One of my dreams is to have a huge walk in closet with space for clothes and shoes. Make it beautifully shabby chic.
It has been raining a lot. Today, the sun and clouds are out today. I’m dreaming of what to do with for The Mad Tea Party. How I can incorporate my two favorite men in it as well.
Have a beautiful weekend, Lady V.

  22. I keep coming back to this post! I adore horned toads, and the frittata looks divine! Yum! And Miles looks so cozy snoring away!

  23. Do you really have 400 pairs of shoes? How wonderful! Can I ask what brand those pink satin shoes are? I have been looking for something like that for a long time. Your photos as always are beautiful. Thank you, Deborah

  24. Theresa says:

Oh hooray!!!!! Found your FB page and signed right up. And left you a wee message, too. 🙂 Don’t you just love this spring harvesting? We’ve been enjoying our lettuce, too. And some fresh tomatoes from a local farm. Sure beats the market, that’s for sure! 🙂

  25. I love your photos so much, V.
I enjoyed the video. I’d like the saints, but with little dolls of the Borgia family instead.
    And Miles sleeping…oh!
    Steals my heart.
    You’re such a BUSY BEE lately….buzz buzzzzz…
and Lovee saying the bread speaks French….
where did you FIND that man?

  26. Hi there, I sooo hope you see this note.
For some reason a handful of comments were in spam, including yours, so I saved it on the double. That has been a glitch lately. Rotten!
For some reason, I can’t post a comment for you on your blog, and for the life of me, I can’t find your e-mail address anywhere 😉
But the shoes are from Anthropologie (couple years ago), and the brand is Miss Albright Philadelphia.
Hope you snag a pair 😉
