That grey winter light.
Cloudy.
Casting tones that only that hazy shade of winter can.
Only time and sun and years can really make paint peel just perfectly.
Photos of this and that.
Pink petals always delight.
I scrounge around the garden shed for stacks of tiny terracotta pots I made.
Perfect for baby ferns.

The sun is always out in our neck of the woods.
So, the haze is interesting and welcome from time to time.
I love shell collections, do you?
I was always in trouble for packing suitcases of warm wet shells on vacations.
Collecting sea shells, one of my favorite things.
These are an antique collection of shells that I cherish greatly.
Snippets of our little world.
The wonderful sculptural vase below is by artist Nick Tranmer.
(who I learned pottery from actually)
Blue and reds blur into purple hues in this curiously dusted light.
We head out for a walk down our road.
Folks collecting citrus in their garden.
Boys down peaceful paths.

(Miles' teeth marks in leashes, from excitement to go walking)
I don't know why my boys are so good.
One walks on the left, one on the right.
They make sure to stay in their spots.
All on their own.
If they move around, they go back to their spots quickly.
Funny little characters.
Warm sips.
The one thing you can count on, on these hazy winter days…
Blooming amaryllis.
Speaking of old pots.
Below is an old pot, aged perfectly all on its own.
In fact, looks like it even made a space for chalk writing right in the center, no?
I love these hazy days.
They make me want to cuddle up and throw all my chores into the wind.
They make my brain feel hazy too.
Dreamy.
Slow.
Dreaming of sandy beaches…
Warm sand in between toes.
It's been a mild winter here so far.
Hazy days remind us it's not perpetually spring.
And now, I will have the Bangles in my head all day.
Thanks to Simon and Garfunkel.
How are you out in the world?
What are the goings on?
I am so quiet today.
But that can change if I turn up the music 😉
You?

Vanessa:
Your hazy day looks prettier than the hazy day we had yesterday. It was sort of gray and icky with not a peek of sunshine.
Your world draws me in and eases my worryful mind. Pups on leashes, ladders under the citrus tree, pink roses and pretty pots with fern sproutlings.
I needed to see something pretty today.
xoxo

Gerushia’s New World
Trundling along on another magic Monday, admittedly wishing it were Sunday ;o)
I love seeing little snippets of your wonderful life especially as Queenie’s squirreled away in a cubicle in the mundane.
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
Your blog posts take me away to a magical place, something so needed on a day back to work after a lazy long weekend.
Life at A fanciful Twist is one big perpetual holiday of delights that helps keep the child inside of me alive and content. Never ever stop sharing with us, in fact, can you write a new blog every day! I can’t get enough heehee xxxxx Love L
Your blog makes me smile with all of its soft tones. Oh so much different than the harsh winter we are having. Minus 15 degrees (f) wind chill…
Thank you oh so much for sharing your world with us…. At least I am smiling now.
The last three days has been a blur of blog hopping. I joined my first ever blog hop and boy has it been fun. But i think i’m hopped out for now. Here in north central CA we are warm and dry….too warm and dry actually. The drought is getting bad. We are having a hazy , sun filtering sky today too and shhhh…. they are predicting rain for Thursday… RAIN! But keep it on the down low because i think we scare it off every. single. time…… 🙂
Lets see i have chilli in the slow cooker…… makes the whole house smell yummy… thought its definitely not chilli weather but it is January!! So i made chilli… with real beef!!! I usually use ground turkey….hubby will be sooo pleased!! I’ve been painting yougurt cups……. i usually just recycle them but i had an idea pop in my head and i’m giving it a go….. think terra cotta and turquiose color paint with a dash of metallic copper paint……hmmmm….. sounds yummy doesn’t it…. ? Catch ya later V…… now i might have to go do some more hopping……. 🙂 Hugs! deb
I had music on all day as I cleaned today, Vanessa. The stations I listen to plays a wide variety so it was nice to hear a lot of different songs {along with the weather forecast ~ frigid temps!}. Your vignettes looks so lovely. I love how everything looks great under a cloche!
Aaah, the ever popular picking of the grapefruit in AZ! Picked ours and bagged several of our one tree blessings of ruby red last week. I had a lovely free box to sit out front of our house for neighbors or some fruit loving passer by to take with them. I gave some to friends as well and now have only one bag left. Now its time to rake up the last of the falling leaves that just finished dropping for our so called winter! Yup, kind of enjoyed my Manic Monday In A Different Light!;)
Loved seeing all that’s going on in your AZ Monday, V!
Mmmm love those quiet days. It’s been hijinks around here, painting my bedroom!
It feels like we are in a holding pattern of sorts! I ask God everyday to just
come right out and tell me what to do…I need a nudge!
We went to Hawaii on Christmas day and stayed two weeks…Maui…I was so enthralled with every little bit of nature I could find…sensory overload to the wonderfullest!
One beach was solid coral, all buffed soft from the tumbling. I brought back SO much.
Another beach was all drift-woody and I loaded up some more 🙂
I want to make some mobiles… does that sound fun? maybe wrap yarn around my driftwood and hang something from it?
At any convenient time…funny how my memory slips while looking over manuscripts of unpublished rhyme…Simon & Garfunkel for sure~
I loved that song…1965?
No rain here and hardly any snow in the mountains.
Love the photos!
The hazy days have been so nice. I like the warmth, but it is nice to have a little bit of “winter” before it starts to heat up again.
I have a bit of news, we are moving! Not out of town, just down closer to the University and work. I will miss living in Oro Valley, but I think it is the right decision. We start moving next week and I am excited to have a new little garden at my new little house!
We’re finally having warm weather here in Florida and not a day too soon either. I’ve been cooped up inside the house for two days reading, keeping warm, baking banana bread and BBQ Pork Tenderloin for the boys.
Today there was sunshine and 68-70 temps, so immediately after work I put on my walking shoes and hit the pavement for some exercise….ahhhhh…yes. Good stuff! The weather is about to change again, sigh. LOL. Just when I had the garden-in-springtime bug hit my brain. I’m so eager to see things busting out and REALLY blooming here, plus I want to start the vegetable garden again.
BTW, I’ve been listening to her new song, practically on repeat:
Iamamiwhoami (Jonna Lee) – “Fountain”

Thanks again for sharing your world with such style. The Bangles link hit the spot-had to listen to “Walk like an Egyptian,” as well. I miss the songs of those pioneering girl rock bands, although “Blondie,” was probably my favorite-what a voice! Just wanted to share that your site is a welcome retreat for nature enthusiasts as well as artists. Looking forward to spring if it’s not here already.
interestingly enough, we are having sleet and snow down coastal Louisiana! Your photos are a nice reminder of what the weather here is usually like….andboy are we ready to get back to it. Today I started on a new fairy house….I am so ready for spring!
