Just like that, it's the day after Halloween. October leaves us so quickly. In one evening it is gone, and a new month arrives…
Our Halloween feast was wonderful. Mister Lovee whispered a reminder this morning, of how lovely it was. It was a mixture of all day Halloween madness, and then, a very autumnal dinner.
In a way, welcoming November.
Twinkling lights and candles make everything extra dreamy, I know you agree.
And so…
As we munched and talked, and laughed, and were encircled by the pups playing, I was reminded that magical times are a state of mind. There is magic all around us, me and you.
There for the taking.
I love October and November.
Crisp autumn goodness!
Thanksgiving gatherings!
But then, I am crazy mad about December.
Lights and carols and hot chocolate, the beauty of Christmas and twirling merriment!
And, I love January and February too.
A whole new year!!
Baking, crocheting, Valentine's day.
Oh oh and what about March and April and May?
St. Patrick's Day, Easter…
Buds and rain and new life!
And June and July and August?
The Mad Tea Party!
Heat and growing things, Summer, flowers!
Garden strolls in garden jungles.
Every season, every day, every moment in time…
For many reasons…
Holds its own bit of magic.
And every heart, of every person, holds the same.
Sometimes, we are happy, sometimes we are sad, sometimes life feels heavy, sometimes we are extra glad. But somewhere in there, deep inside, we have a spark.
Ready to be ignited when you wish.
And that, that is the true magic.
And so, we bid adieu to October, with cackles and dances galore. But look to the future with excitement, for it holds, oh so much more!
Our resident warlock (Mister Lovee) wrote in the air with his candle last night, memories and fiery delights!
Booooo!
And hypnotic twilight zones!
Love, of course, always love…
And………..
Plus……
So much more goodness that the future holds.
I can feel it!
The next minute, second, day, week & year,
holds secrets and delights for all of us…
I just know it!
See you next year, October…….
Hello today and tomorrow.

Magic is a state of mind, for sure….of being open to the tiniest moments….the smallest details…
My Little Girl is always saying “I can’t wait til Christmas ( or insert other exciting things), can you, Mama?”
…and I always tell her, yes, I can wait….because if I wished it was another day, I would miss enjoying this one….and I don’t want to give up a single second being here with you 🙂
Happy November to you, Magic Maker….

It is always so sad for me to say goodbye to October, my favorite month of the year. Good to read your post and look forward to other delights.

Mmmm, I must agree that magic is a state of mind 🙂 I feel that way about my family being from Ireland. I miss it there, but I always remember that Ireland is a state of mind in a way. It doesn’t take being there to feel it, just living what it means to me. Living magic. Living Ireland. BEAUTIFUL! Sorry for the psychobabble 🙂
Love,
Jenn
Love those candle photos! =D
They’re just the best! ^-^
And am loving your musings on the exit of one month into the beginning of another. And you’re so right… each & every month of the year holds its own magic, its own wonder & enchantment. We’re so lucky to get an entire year of loveliness to enjoy, all of us together! =D
Enjoy Florence & the Machines new album… It’s currently on repeat at my house. ^-^
I’m madly in love with her! =D
Happy November & happy Autumn. Now… let’s go jump into a great big pile of leaves, yes? Yes! Wheeeeee!!!
XOXO
What a beautiful post! Thanks for the reminder of the beauty and magic that each month/season holds for us if we just look for it.
I love your saying that magical times are a state of mind! We don’t have to depend on a specific day on the calendar to celebrate, do we? Your Halloween dinner and atmosphere look just wondrous! I can NOT believe it is November already. Time to put Christmas crafting into doubletime mode!!!
Dear V,
Oh I agree with you so much! I love October, but since Halloween is at the end of the month, we wake up the next day to an entirely different month…November! And we say our goodbyes to jack-o-lanterns, skulls, witches, and ghosts, and welcome scarecrows, cornacopias, and harvest and changing leaves. But pumpkins remain for both seasons, don’t get me wrong! Haha I am so glad that pumpkins are around to connect the two months. All I’m trying to say is that October flashes by so quickly I feel as though I blink and it is over. And now…well, it is already a few days into November. Time goes by so quickly!
Before we know it, it will be Thanksgiving and then Christmas and then New Year…AHHHH!!! It all comes by in a whirlwind of magic and sparkles and all we can do is laugh, enjoy the magic as it passes by, wave goodbye when it is gone, and appreciate the times to come.
Are you going to have any other Christmas crafts this year? I love your older crafts, but….well, as Linda says, she already needs to put Christmas crafting into “doubletime mode”, so maybe you can help Linda (and the rest of us, for that matter) out? Please? I need your wisdom and creativeness!
🙂
Well, ttfn! (ta ta for now–isn’t it genius? My friend came up with it. Aqua, that is.)
Hugs and hexes,

Hi Vanessa,
I came accross your blog, searching for printables and found your halloween cake toppers. I want to thank you for a magical Halloween garden, I love it. I am french, but I have lived in the US for 5 years. Seeing how you celebrated Halloween is just sparkling! Will look more at your posts.
From another V (Virginie)
We certainly had a bombastic end to October! My Halloween wasn’t…and it made me so sad. Well, there is always next year to look forward to!!!! I am hoping now since our life is returning to normal that November will be a month of simple joys and thanks. We certainly have much to be grateful for this season! xoxo PS I love Florence & the Machine, too! I think my hubby bought the CD last night – but I’ll have to check!!!! 🙂
